A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanne Carmen Nott, 77, of Dover, formerly of Milford, was held Tuesday, March 8, in the St. John’s Catholic Church, Milford. Mrs. Nott died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Nott was born April 10, 1927, in Smackover, Ark., daughter of the late James Edgar and Necia Jones Hobson.
Mrs. Nott worked for seven years as a secretary at the Ingalls Ship Building Company in Alexandria, Va., and for five years was the private secretary for the Postmaster General in Washington, D.C. She later worked for nine years as an editor for the executive secretary of the United States Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1974.
She enjoyed reading, sewing and painting.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nott was preceded in death by her first husband, Tristan Hauer, in 2004; and by her second husband, Joseph George Nott, in 1985.
She is survived by three sons, Dean Hauer of Washington, D.C., Peter Hauer of Manassas, Va., and Eric Nott of Greencastle, Pa.; two stepsons, Michael Nott of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Stephen Nott of Melrose, Mass.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Necia and Charlie Beck and their children, Catherine Beck and C.J. Beck, all of Dover.
Mrs. Nott also is survived by a brother, James Hobson of Mississippi, six grandchildren, Stacey Nott, Lisa Hauer, Necia Powell, Jamie Nott, Ryan Nott and Mark Hauer; and a great-grandson, Lukas Powell.
Arrangements were by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
Entombment will be in the Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
Marjorie Walls Quillen
Funeral services for Marjorie Walls Quillen, 81, of Dover was held Friday, March 4, in Faries Funeral Home, Smyrna. Mrs. Quillen died after a lengthy illness Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, in Capitol Nursing Home, Dover, with her devoted husband by her side.
Mrs. Quillen was born in 1923, daughter of the late Roland and Anna Walls.
A 1941 graduate of Milford High School, she was raised in Dover and Milford and lived her entire life in Delaware.
Mrs. Quillen retired as a branch administrator with Odessa branch of the Bank of Delaware, now PNC Bank, after 21 years of service. Over the course of her career she worked in the Smyrna, Limestone Road and Odessa offices.
Following her retirement, she served her community for nine years as a volunteer at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
As a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Quillen took great pride and joy in her home, family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothes and evening gowns for herself and others. She also enjoyed dancing, singing and traveling with her husband, family and friends.
Mrs. Quillen was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Smyrna for many years, where she served on the Altar Guild and, with her husband, helped train new acolytes.
Though saddened by her loss, her family is comforted knowing that her spirit is now released to “dance” once again.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace; and a brother, Roland Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold T. Quillen, whom she married in 1946, of Capitol Nursing Home, Dover; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald T. and Toni Quillen of Felton; a daughter, Michele Q. Johnson of Smyrna; and a close friend who was like a daughter, Carol Alamares of Smyrna.
Mrs. Quillen also is survived by three grandchildren, Allyson Quillen, Jesse Johnson and Jordan Johnson; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Amelia and Lawrence Haddaway of Millersville, Md., Janet Barr of Dover and MaryAnn and Lubomyr Mykyta of Dagsboro; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Ernest Jefferson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who shared many happy times with her throughout the years.
Funeral services for Ione Margaret McNamire Biddle, 92, of Dover were held Monday, Jan. 31, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mrs. Biddle died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
She was born Feb. 11, 1912, in Shinglehouse, Pa., the eldest daughter of Leslie and Edna Williams McNamire.
Mrs. Biddle and her late husband founded the Tastee Freeze of West Dover in the early 1960s and operated it until their retirement in 1971 when they sold the business. Before that, they operated a grocery store, which also was located in west Dover.
She enjoyed quilting, traveling and reading, as well as visits and calls from family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Harrington Biddle, in 1975; four brothers, Brian, Dale, Leslie and Keith; and one sister, Ruth M. Lynch.
Mrs. Biddle is survived by a son, Richard O. Biddle of Dover; two daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Bobby Welch, and Ginger and Don Wingard, all of Dover; a brother, Paul McNamire of Dover; and two sisters, Nellie Conley of Wyoming and Gloria Melvin of Felton.
She also is survived by five grandchildren and the spouses of four, Carol and Jim Donophan, Connie and Bill Emerson, Donna Wingard and her husband Norman Hahn, Patti and Dee Hooker and Maxwell H. Biddle; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She also is survived by two extended family members, Yvonne Biddle and Joyce Ennis.
Funeral services for Robert Wayne Campbell, 57, of Magnolia were held Thursday, Jan. 19, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mr. Campbell died after a long and courageous battle with cancer Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in his home with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Campbell was born June 9, 1947, in Batavia, N.Y., son of Harold Raymond and Marylou Brown Campbell, now of Dover.
Mr. Campbell was an Eagle Scout who had received numerous awards and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a B-52 aircraft mechanic at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, N.Y.
Mr. Campbell worked for Hirsch Industries, formerly General Metal Craft, for 30 years until his illness in 2000.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and was a huge Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle who always cherished his family, his first priority in life.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon Marie Campbell of Magnolia; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce David and Lorinda Campbell of Merrillville, Ind. and Joseph Derek Campbell of Magnolia; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynn Marie and Randolph Humphries of Dover and Cynthia Ann Campbell of Magnolia and her fiancé, Sandon Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.
He also is survived by two grandsons, Jonathon Michael Humphries of Dover and Kenneth Robert Campbell of Merrillville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jane Campbell of Dover, Janet and Richard Jones of Frederica, and Sandra and Joseph Allen of Manahawkin, N.J.; his favorite riding partner, his dog Dixie; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Leonard Morris Cormier
Leonard Morris Cormier, 77, of Leipsic died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, in his home.
Mr. Cormier was born April 26, 1927, in Presque Isle, Maine, son of the late Fidel Thomas and Estelle Coty Cormier.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Cormier worked as a marble and tile mason for Marble Craft Co. in Wilmington for 25 years before his retirement.
Mr. Cormier enjoyed sports, movies and firearms, and was a caring grandfather who will be especially missed by two of his granddaughters, Danyelle Cormier and Brittney Pokoiski.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Ladd Cormier.
In addition to his granddaughters, he is survived by a son, Steven Cormier of Florida; three daughters, Kellie Cormier of Smyrna, Michelle Anderson of Maryland and Kim Cormier of Georgetown; a brother and sister-in-law, Nathan and Linda Cormier of Richardson Park; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Thompson of Hockessin, Bunny and Bruce Lange of Graylyn Crest and Delores and Jim Worroll of Townsend; seven additional grandchildren, Freddie, Tiffney, Brandon, Travis, Justin, Jason and Joel; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Christopher.
Services and burial will be private.

Silva R. Decker
Silva R. Decker, 75, of Dover died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Decker was a daughter of the late Irving and Otis Rushbrooke Rew.
Mrs. Decker graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore and from the University of Maryland with a degree in journalism.
Her long working career included work with the Baltimore Sun and International Playtex Corp. during the Gemini and Apollo space programs. She was an administrative assistant to former Delaware State Treasurer Janet Rzewnicki.
She was a talented artist and taught china painting for several years.
Mrs. Decker was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Camden.
Her humor, strength and generous spirit will be greatly missed by her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Decker; a sister, Jacqueline Gooderham; and a brother, Irving F. Rew Jr.
She is survived by a loving daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Michele and Lawrence C. Willey Sr. of Dover, with whom she had lived; a grandson and a great-grandson of her heart, Eli Willey and Mason Willey, both of Milford; a brother, Elwyn Rew of Baltimore; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Doris Storesund of Reisterstown, Md., Laverne and Gordon K. Harden Sr. of Owings Mills, Md., and John Gooderham of Don Mills, Canada; two aunts, Helen Bazarre of Beckley, W.Va., and Alice Boothe of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
According to her wishes, she was cremated.
A service celebrating her life will be held in early April.

Minnie Victoria Wilson Evans
Funeral services for Minnie Victoria Wilson Evans, 90, of Dover were held Saturday, Jan. 29, in Calvary Baptist Church, Dover. Mrs. Evans died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Evans was born Feb. 22, 1914, in Lanes, S.C., daughter of the late Rev. Elliott Wilson and Maggie Green.
She attended the Jerusalem School in Lanes.
Mrs. Evans married the Rev. McKinley Evans Sr. in December 1934 and together they had nine children. She worked as a farmer for 40 years while in Lanes.
She moved to Lincoln along with her husband and several of her children in 1964, where she worked at the Torches Canning Factory in Milford and at the Burris Poultry Factory in Milford for several years.
Mrs. Evans and her family moved to Dover in 1970 and she worked for a short time preparing parachutes and army rain suits at Lumors. After the death of her husband of 37 years and the completion of her home, she moved to Ellendale, where she lived for two years.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the Jerusalem AME Church in Lanes and the Calvary Baptist Church, where she was known for her cakes. She also was a member of the Senior Citizens Missionaries Group.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Evans is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Fannie Evans of Fort Myers, Fla., Sadie Brown of Ellendale, Evangelist Bertha M. and Esker Pruitt of Dover and Patricia Evans of Tampa, Fla.; and five sons and their wives, George and Everline Evans of Lakeworth, Fla., Abraham and Ethel Evans of Slaughter Neck, the Rev. McKinley Jr. and Sarah Evans of Ellendale, the Rev. William and Francene Evans of Fort Myers and the Rev. Woodrow and Bernetta Evans of Bridgeville.
She also is survived by a sister, Rhodie Bynum of Philadelphia; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mannie Wilson of Idaho and Robert and Mary Wilson of Chicago; 21 granddaughters; 18 grandsons; 55 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

William H. Godshall, 90, of Dover died Friday, Jan. 30, 2005, in Westminster Village Independent Living in Dover.
Mr. Godshall was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Lansdale, Pa, son of the late Herbert and Florence Bartholomew Godshall.
He was a 1936 graduate of Lehigh University having earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Mr. Godshall worked for the General Motors Corp. in Lockport, N.Y. from 1936 to 1944 as a ventilation and hazard exhaust systems designer and assistant plant engineer. He moved to Dover in 1945, where he worked as a plant engineer, a plant-engineering manager and senior engineer for the International Playtex Corp. He retired in 1980.
A registered engineer in Delaware, he was a member and past president of the Delaware Professional Engineering Society and a member of the American Institute of Plant Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society for the Advancement of Management, and took part in the American Management Association Video Tape Program.
Mr. Godshall was president of the Dover Junior Chamber of Commerce and president of the Toastmasters International of Dover. He was a commissioner on the Delaware State Planning Council under Gov. Elbert Carvel. He also was a charter member of the Kent Swimming Club in Dover and a member since 1948 and a former secretary for 37 years of the Otter Run Fish and Game Club in Carsontown, Pa.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loraine E. Godshall of Dover; a sister, Merri Salazar of Warwick, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. In accordance with his previous wishes, his remains will be cremated.
