Emma B. Weldin
Funeral services for Emma B. Weldin, 90, of Dover, formerly of Wilmington, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, in Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle. Mrs. Weldin died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Dover.
Mrs. Weldin was born April 9, 1915, in Harrington, daughter of the late Eugene and Susan E. Anthony Brown.
She was a clerk-typist by profession and worked for many years with the DuPont Co.
A gifted homemaker, she greatly enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking and crafts. She was devoted to her extended family, and often referred to her beloved nieces and nephews as her “young’uns.”
Mrs. Weldin was a member of Berea Presbyterian Church, and spent much time in prayer and Bible study.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Francis Willard Weldin, in 2003; two brothers, Odoth Brown and Elmer Brown; a sister, Amy Price; and nine nieces and nephews, Edwin Brown, Alvin Brown, Elma Coverdale, Anna Lee Hitchens, Grace Wainwright, Norman Brown, Louis Brown, Clayton Brown and Melvin Brown.
Mrs. Weldin is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Raymond W. Brown, Norma Jean Bradley, Marvin Brown, Harold Brown, Elwood Brown, Wayne Brown and Jo Ann Bowdle; a special niece by marriage, Betty C. Brown; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Interment was in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.

Florine ‘Flora’ Woolford
Funeral services for Florine “Flora” Woolford, 92, of Dover, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, in Bibleway Temple Institutional Church of God in Christ, Dover. Mrs. Woolford died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, in her home.
Mrs. Woolford was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Wimauma, Fla., daughter of the late Richmond and Louise Mitchell.
She received her education from Union Academy in Gainesville, Fla.
Mrs. Woolford was a foster grandparent and was last employed by Emily Morris Day Care, where she had worked for several years.
She had been a member of Bibleway Temple for more than 25 years and was a member of the Mother’s board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Woolford; two sisters, Mary “Mamie” Robert and Josephine Nattiel; and a brother, William.
Mrs. Woolford is survived by a son, Earnest Givins of Bridgeton, N.J., three daughters and two sons-in-law, Evelyn and Claude Curry of Salem, N.J., and Lillie R. and the Rev. Wallace R. Dixon and Elizabeth Smith, all of Dover; 13 grandchildren, Ruthie Dixon, Wallace R. Dixon II, Lydia Dixon, Robert Williams, Katrina Woodward, Krystal Scott, Christina Farrell, Mansfred Frederick Jr., Patricia Young, Angela Peterkin, Frances Revell, Ernest Givins Jr. and Petergun Givins; a sister, Evelyn Walker of Salem; a special son, Dr. Henry Isiocha; 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of additional relatives and friends.
Interment was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Riddie Mae Young
Funeral services for Riddie Mae Young, 67, of Dover, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, in The Pentecostals of Dover (Kent Christian Center), Dover. Mrs. Young died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in her home.
Mrs. Young was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late George and Riddie Bryan.
The family moved to Cheswold in 1948, and Mrs. Young attended and graduated from the William Henry High School, Dover, in 1956. She excelled in mathematics and played clarinet in the school band.
Mrs. Young was employed with ILC Industries in Frederica, where she worked on the spacesuits used in the Apollo moon landing program. She later transferred to Playtex Apparel Inc., from where she retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed many telephone conversations with people who saw things her way. However, she would agree to disagree.
Mrs. Young was active in her church throughout her life. She was involved with the Senior Saints, Silver Box Ministry, Christian Ladies Circle, hospital visitation and the church marketing committee. She was a mentor to a host of young people, encouraging them to reach for the stars.
After retirement, she volunteered for the American Red Cross at the Dover/Milford office. She was possessed of a charitable and giving heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Bryan, Willie Bryan and George Bryan Jr.
Mrs. Young is survived by a daughter, Ann Elizabeth Young of Newark; three sons and a daughter-in-law, James Norman Young of Newark and Wade Eric Young of Dover and Gordon Jeffrey and Delsie M. Young of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren, Jerrell Marshall Young and Theresa Elizabeth Young, both of Portland.
She also is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law; Margaret Hall of Gloucester City, N.J., Jean E. Wilson of Dover and Vera Lynn and Theo Gregory of Wilmington; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, James and Joyce Bryan of Middletown, Paul and Shirley Bryan, Roland and Sylvia Bryan, Anthony and Jocelyn Bryan, and Richard Bryan, all of Dover, and Matthew and Wanda Bryan of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Gardens, Dover.

Effie Garrett Carlisle
Memorial services for Effie Garrett Carlisle, 72, of Hartly were held Saturday, June 18, in the Grace Apostolic Church, Kennedyville, Md. Mrs. Carlisle died of natural causes Saturday, June 12, 2005, in her home.
Mrs. Carlisle was born Dec. 29, 1932.
She is survived by two sons, a brother, a sister and nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert T. ‘Chubby’ Faries
Funeral services for Robert T. “Chubby” Faries, 76, of Dover, formerly of Smyrna, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 24, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday, June 23, and beginning at noon Friday. Masonic services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Faries died at home Monday, June 20, 2005.
Mr. Faries was born Sept. 5, 1928, in Smyrna, the son of the late J. Wells and Catherine Knotts Faries.
He was a fifth generation funeral director and former owner of Faries Funeral Directors, Inc. Mr. Faries opened the funeral home’s Dover location in 1959 and had lived in the Capital City ever since.
Mr. Faries was a past president of the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association, a past chief of Citizens Hose Company No. 1 in Smyrna and a past assistant chief of Robbins Hose Fire Company in Dover.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Dover Del Vets, a 50-year member of Harmony Lodge No. 13 AF&AM in Smyrna and a member of the Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club.
Mr. Faries was an avid fisherman and golfer and a member of Maple Dale Country Club in Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Cole Faries, in 2003; and his business partner and brother, Wells A. Faries in 1998.
Mr. Faries is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert G. and Denise Faries of Smyrna and W. Cole Faries of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Ron Macon of Smyrna; and three grandchildren, Shelby Faries of Ardmore, Pa., and Nicole and Joseph Faries both of Felton.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19904.
Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna.
Flora Lena Fisher
Funeral services for Flora Lena Fisher, 67, of Dover, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call starting one hour earlier. Mrs. Fisher died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Fisher was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of the late Orlando and Edith Tempestelli.
She moved to the Frederica area in 1977 and later moved again to the Dover area.
She worked for 11 years as a senior supervisor for Hess Apparel, for seven years in the fraud unit of NationsBank, and for Strawbridge’s as a sales associate. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Fisher is survived by her husband of 43 years, William Glen Fisher; a daughter, Deborah A. Kromka of Hartly; four stepsons and their families, Glen Fisher of Dover, Maurice Fisher of Pittsburgh, and Philip Fisher and Dale Fisher, both of Columbus, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Corrado and Judy Tempestelli of Cleveland; a grandson, Tyler Joseph Kromka of Hartly; 13 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to American Lung Association of Delaware, 1021 Gilpin Ave., Suite 202, Wilmington, DE 19806 c/o Asthma Department.
Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Nanette Brewington Harris
Funeral services for Nanette Brewington Harris, 35, of Charleston W.Va., formerly of Hartly, were held Monday, June 20, at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Ms. Harris died Monday, June 13, 2005, in Charleston.
Ms. Harris was born Nov. 26, 1969, in Dover, the daughter of Wayne and Jane Brewington of Hartly.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Brewington Jr.; a maternal grandfather, Fred Adams; and a paternal grandmother, Elenora Gaines.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Harris is survived by Bryan Harris, her husband of nine years; two daughters, Tiffany Brewington and Angles Brewington and two sons, Michael Brewington and Kyla Harris, all of Charleston.
She also is survived by a brother, Steven Brewington of Milford; a maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Adams of Milton; and a nephew, several aunts and uncles, and other relatives.
Interment was in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Paul S. Kemp
Paul S. Kemp, 80, of Edinburg, Texas, formerly of Dover, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, in McAllen, Texas.
A 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Kemp also worked 20 years in the harness racing industry and retired as a self-employed truck driver.
He is survived by a daughter, Paula Hogan of Dover; a son and daughter-in-law, Reynolds “Joe” and Linda Kemp of Dover; and two grandsons, Matthew Konefsky of California and Paul Konefsky of Indiana.
Memorial services will be scheduled for a later date.
