Funeral services for Derrick Andrew Lowe Jr., 2, of Dover, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Faith Baptist Church, 1575 Bryn Zion Road, Smyrna. Derrick died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005.
Derrick was born July 11, 2003, in Dover, son of Derrick A. Lowe Sr. and Laura Frank.
In addition to his parents, Derrick is survived by a sister, Destani Lynne Lowe; and his grandparents, Lawrence Frank of Hartly, Sue Lowe, and Isaac Muchado of Oxford, Pa.,

Jeanette M. Norman
Jeanette M. Norman, 72, of Felton, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Norman was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Henry and Avis Taylor Vockel.
She was a homemaker and had worked many years ago with Playtex in Dover as a seamstress.
Mrs. Norman was an avid porcelain doll collector and was active in the Modern Maturity Center in Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Lance Parker and Michael Pickle; two brothers, Elmer Vockel and Walter D. Vockel; and a nephew, Charles Vockel.
Mrs. Norman is survived by her husband of 45 years, Earle W. Norman Sr.; a son, Brian Norman of Laurel; three daughters, Sherrie Sheldon of Ocean View and Donna Pusey and Debra Paxton, both of Dover; two stepchildren, Elana Donophan of Lincoln and Earle W. Norman Jr. of Milford; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private.

Gladys M. Nuss
Funeral services for Gladys M. Nuss, 83, of Magnolia, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mrs. Nuss died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Nuss was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Wyoming, daughter of the late Robert N. and Edith J. Lock Willey.
During World War II, she worked in the powder factory. From 1963 to 1984, she worked as a cafeteria manager for the Allen J. Frear School and Dover Air Force Base High School.
She was a member of the Rising Sun Community Club and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Camden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph A. Nuss, in 2000; a son, Leonard Nuss, in 1999; and four brothers, Robert N. Willey Jr., Alfred S. Willey, Ralph W. Willey and Edward J. Willey.
Mrs. Nuss is survived by two sons and their wives, James and Sandra Nuss of Magnolia and John and Debby Nuss of Newark; a daughter, Lois Price of Magnolia; a brother, Elmer Willey of Florida; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Fred Hubbard of Dover; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shawn A. Redding
Funeral services for Shawn A. Redding, 20, of Felton, were held Sunday, Dec. 4, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mr. Redding died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, in his home.
Mr. Redding was born April 16, 1985, at Eglin AFB, Ft. Walton Beach Fla., son of Vernon and Lynn Warrington Redding.
In his youth, he was active in Boys Scouts and karate. He also played soccer, baseball and lacrosse. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 2003 and attended Wesley College.
He was a student at Delaware Technical and Community College, majoring in business and worked with his father for Allsafe Delmarva.
Mr. Redding enjoyed outdoor actives including going to the beach and boogie boarding, skate boarding, bike riding and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Patricia Warrington and Wanda Horner.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Redding is survived by his sister, Lauren Redding; grandfathers, Fred Warrington of Magnolia and Vernon Redding Sr., of Ocala Fla.; his great-grandmother, Jennie Morris of Milton; and five aunts and uncles and their spouses, Nancy and Don Bloom of Felton, Donald Warrington of Greenwood, Renee and Shane Jennings of Ocean City, Md., Duane and Lisa Redding of Belair, Md. and Michael Redding of Westminster, Md.
He also is survived by his cousins, John and Christopher Redding of Westminster, Gabrielle and Juliette Redding of Belair, Czar and Shelly Bloom of Felton, Paul Warrington of Greenwood and Caiden Jennings of Ocean City and his friend and companion, Jessica Rash of Dover.

Yong Ak Shin
Memorial services for Yong Ak Shin, 75, of Dover, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Korean Baptist Church, Cheswold. Mrs. Shin died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Shin was born July 8, 1930, in South Korea, daughter of the late Sam Jo and In Soon Yun Park.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Shin was a member of the Korean Baptist Church, Cheswold.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chong Hwan Shin.
She is survived by two sons, Yong Kyun Shin and Yong Doo Shin, both of Korea; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kum Sun and Edward Long of Dover, and Jae Soon Shin and Ok Soon Shin, both of Korea; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Carol S. Sweeney
Remembrance services for Carol S. Sweeney, 46, of Frederica, were held Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Sweeney died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, south of Rising Sun.
Mrs. Sweeney was born Jan. 26, 1959, in Point Pleasant, N.J., daughter of Dolories Liming Jobes of Magnolia and the late Joseph Jobes.
She worked at the Shore Stop in Frederica, where she enjoyed meeting people.
Her pastimes and hobbies were using the computer, collecting lighthouses and dolphins, playing pool, offshore fishing, bingo and spending time with her family. She will be missed by everyone.
Mrs. Sweeney was a member of American Legion Walter L. Fox Post No. 2’s Auxiliary Unit 2.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Sweeney.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Sweeney is survived by two sons and their wives, Jason and Amy Sweeney of Dover and Josh and Jamie Sweeney of Frederica; a daughter, Sheila Sweeney of Frederica; and four grandchildren, Micheal Uertz-Sweeney, Bianca Sweeney, Mason Snow and Kaleigh Sweeney, all of Dover.
She also is survived by her life companion, Russ Winters of Frederica; three sisters and their husbands, Barbara and Billy Thompson and Linda and Nick Harvey, all of Magnolia, and Shirley and Glenn Truitt of Harrington; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Joe and Joyce Jobes of Magnolia, Donald and Linda Jobes of Milford, Richard Jobes I of Pennsylvania, Charles and MaryAnn Jobes of Brick, N.J., and Eddie and Cindy Jones of Alabama; nieces; nephews; aunts; and uncles.

Howard E. Thompson
Funeral services for Howard E. Thompson, 79, of Hartly, were held Friday, Dec. 2, in the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mr. Thompson died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 19, 1926, in Gastonia, N.C., son of the late Ralph and Catherine Thompson.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.
Mr. Thompson was a self-employed farmer, who worked his farm during the spring and summer months. During the off-season, he worked as a truck driver for local gas and oil companies and also drove mail trucks for the postal service.
He enjoyed dancing, gardening and was a Nascar fan.
Mr. Thompson was a past member of the Standardbred Association and a past member of the Hartly Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by Irma Thompson, his wife of 58 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cindy Thompson of Hartly; a daughter, Cathy Moore; four brothers, Clifton Thompson and Carl Thompson, both of Hartly and Melvin Thompson and Ray Thompson, both of Smyrna; a brother-in-law, Wallace Dudeck of Hartly; and a grandson, Philip Moore.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Helen R. Vernarsky
A memorial Mass for Helen R. Vernarsky of Camden, formerly of Gary, Ind., will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 9, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Crown Point, Ind. Ms. Vernarsky died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Ms. Vernarsky was born May 31, 1929, in Gary, daughter of the late Emery and Dorothy Vernarsky.
She had worked at US Steel, retiring after 39 years of service; she then worked for A&R Engineering and finally retired from the AAA Chicago Motor Club in 1994. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Dover and had moved to Camden from Indiana in April 2005.
Ms. Vernarsky loved to travel and knit for everyone in her family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Vernarsky and Dorothy Rohaley.
Ms. Vernarsky is survived by her sister, Veronica Thomas Petchak of Camden; two nieces and their husbands, Mary Theresa and John Thomas of Camden and Marcia and Ron Mote of Florida; two nephews and the wife of one, Daniel and Joann Rohaley of Crown Point, Ind., and James Rohaley of Florida; and her grandnieces and grandnephews Christopher, Joshua and Sarah Thomas, David and Stephen Mote, and Richard Rohaley and Tyler Rohaley.
