Funeral services for Lulu Marie Perry-Russ, 84, of Harrington, were held Monday, April 21, in the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Perry-Russ died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in the Milford Center.
Mrs. Perry-Russ was born May 19, 1923, in Felton, daughter of the late Clarence and Ellen Perry.
She received her education at Pierre S. Dupont in Harrington.
Mrs. Perry-Russ worked for 19 years at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, formerly Milford Memorial Hospital, and retired as an environmental specialist Feb. 19, 1988.
She loved spending time with family and friends. As she walked her three miles a day through the town of Harrington at the crack of dawn, her sense of humor, smile and laughter enlightened many hearts. She knew who had gone to work and who was late getting started.
Mrs. Perry-Russ joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Harrington as a young adult and served as a member of the Leah E. Coleman Women's Missionary Society, the Stewardess board and the Pastor's Aide Society for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Conaway; three sisters, Florence Perry, Edna Dickerson and Elva Mosley; and one brother, James Perry.
Mrs. Perry-Russ is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Henderson of Milford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Harold Russ Sr., and Samuel Lee and Lula Russ, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; and an adopted daughter, Velma Jones of Harrington.
She also is survived by three brothers, Randall Perry of Columbus, Ga., Harold Perry and his wife Mary of Frederica, and Isaac Perry and his wife Yvonne of Harrington; eight grandchildren, Cecelia Russ of Smyrna, Theresa Henderson of Harrington, Joselyn Ingram and Harold Russ Jr., both of Indianapolis, Russell Conaway of Houston, Vernon Conaway of Dover, Andrea Conaway of Atlanta, Ga., and Thea Becton of Bel Air, Md.; two step-grandchildren, Tangela Bush and Kevin Wiggins, both of Indianapolis; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Interment was in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.
Frank Snyder
Funeral services for Frank Snyder, 79, of Dover, were held Friday, April 18, in the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mr. Snyder died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Snyder was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Three Bridges, N.J., son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Orr Snyder.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and worked for George and Lynch, Inc., Dover as a truck driver for 17 years.
Mr. Snyder enjoyed camping, tractors and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Frank Snyder.
Mr. Snyder is survived by Charlotte Snyder, his wife of 57 years; and six children, Gene T. Snyder of Tennessee, Charlotte Everett of Dover, Karl Snyder of Bath, Pa., Cindy Gustin of Wyoming, Brenda Messing of Wyoming and Herbie Snyder of Newark.
He also is survived by five brothers, Andrew Snyder, John Snyder, Frank Snyder, Arthur Snyder and Walter Snyder, all of New Jersey; a stepsister, Elizabeth Suydam of New Jersey; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
William F. Virdin
Funeral services for William F. Virdin, 45, of Little Creek, were held Monday, April 21, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mr. Virdin died of heart failure Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Virdin was born Jan. 5, 1963, in Dover, son of Charles A. Virdin and the late Evelyn Pearl Hurley Virdin in 1972.
He worked as a waterman his entire life. He crabbed, dredged conch and fished in the Delaware Bay. He worked out of Port Mahan, Leipsic, Bowers Beach and Lewes. During the winter he worked on larger boats.
Mr. Virden was a member of the Little Creek Volunteer Fire Co. for 30 years. He also attended Little Creek United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed deer hunting in Delaware and West Virginia, fishing and NASCAR, especially the No. 11 car, Denny Hamlin.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Virdin was preceded in death by two uncles, Franklin “Poochie” Hurley and Dennis “Mousie” Hurley.
Mr. Virdin is survived by his father, Charles “Jack” Virdin and his wife Diane of Dover; his sister and son-in-law, Dorinda and Scott Jones of Hartly; special cousins, Jackie Sullivan and Jill Ridgeway, both of Little Creek; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his special nephew, the apple of his eye and the little brother he never had, Preston Blackstone Jones of Hartly; and his favorite aunt, Joanne Sullivan of Little Creek.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.

Helen C. Cline
Funeral services for Helen C. Cline, 74, of Walland, Tenn., formerly of Dover, were held Wednesday, March 12, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, Tenn. Mrs. Cline died Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Blount Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Cline was born July 27, 1933, in Maryville. She was retired from Fairview Avenue Beauty Shop in Dover. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. Her passion was working outside in the yard with her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard T. and Sarah E. Stinnett; and three brothers, Ted, Gene and Marvin Stinnett.
Mrs. Cline is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill H. Cline; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie L. Mantooth and Skip Mantooth, of Louisville, Ky.; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy W. Cline and Deborah L. Cline of Magnolia; two brothers, Mayford Stinnett of Tallassee, Tenn., and Jack Stinnett of Louisville; one sister, Linda Hutsell of Walland; and four grandchildren, Stacey A. Wiedl of Louisville; Amy L. Wiedl of Louisville, Eric R. Cline of Dover and Ashley Cline of Dover.
Funeral services for Karen L. Coburn, 64, of Felton, will be held Friday, March 28, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington. Friends may visit Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Coburn died Thursday, March 20, 2008.
Mrs. Coburn was born in Tulsa, Okla., daughter of the late Lonnie and Shirley Hartline.
She retired from the retail company TJ Maxx.
In her leisure time, Mrs. Coburn enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and watching NASCAR, with Mark Martin her favorite driver.
In her younger years, she was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Coburn enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she spoiled tremendously.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Coburn was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church of Harrington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, retired Master Sgt. Ronald L. Coburn Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald L. Coburn Jr. and his wife Dawn of Dover and Lee R. Coburn of Felton; daughter, Sherri Calvanesa of Camden; grandchildren, Tyler L. Coburn, Zack Coburn, Christopher J. Calvanesa and Jessica L. Calvanesa; brother, Lonnie Hartline Jr. of Eufala, Okla.; and a sister, Shannon Hester from Many, La.
Remembrance services for Jeannette Case, 83, of Woodside, were held Monday, March 24, in Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Case died Friday, March 21, 2008, at her home with family.
Mrs. Case was born May 19, 1924, in Dover, to the late Paul and Goldie Armstrong Shahan.
She had been a lifelong resident of Delaware before moving to Florida. She spent many years there, where she owned and operated a successful business.
After retiring, she moved back to Woodside with her son to be near family and friends.
Mrs. Case loved raising parakeets, gardening and taking care of her pets.
She looked forward to every day when she spoke to each of her children or went to spend time with them.
Mrs. Case was preceded in death by the love of her life, her late husband, Zeb Case, in 1992; five brothers, Danny, Norris, Paul, Mailey and Crawford Shahan; and her sister, Neoma Hurd.
She is survived by a son, Ralph Patterson of Woodside; son, Charles Patterson of Harrington; a daughter, Ruth Sawyer of Hartly; daughter, Janet Cribbs of Florida; brother, Joe Shahan of Marydel; brother, Sonny Shahan of Hartly; sister, Virginia Legar of Hartly; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Helen Josephine Donofrio
Memorial services for Helen Josephine Donofrio, 77, of Dover, were held Tuesday, March 25, in Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mrs. Donofrio died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in her home, with her loving family at her side.
Mrs. Donofrio was born July 16, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y., daughter of the late William and Bessie Hiechel Haupt.
She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Greenwood and Dr. Capodanno before spending 20 years in Texas, where she worked as an apartment manager.
Upon her retirement, she returned to Delaware, where she spent the last eight years.
She was an avid reader, loved animals and will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Donofrio is survived by two daughters, Diane Chambers of Arlington, Texas, and Sharon A. Shockley of Harrington; a son, Tom Donofrio and his wife Josephine of Highland Village, Texas; six grandchildren, Brian Chambers, Michael Chambers, Monica Falasco, Natalie Castillo, Marisa Donofrio and Thomas Donofrio; and 10 great-grandchildren.
