Gladys A. Moor, 86, of Dover, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Moor was born March 30, 1921, in Leipsic, daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Rawley Austin.
She and her husband were farmers. She enjoyed traveling and reading.
Mrs. Moor was preceded in death by her husband, H. Irving “Dick” Moor; a daughter, Nancy Jane Moor; and a sister, Doris Marie McGee.
She is survived by a son, Richard I. Moor of Dover; a daughter, Linda L. Callahan of Dover; two brothers, Richard Spangler of Dover and Donald Spangler of Vestal, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private.
Arrangements are by Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Ophelia Ann ‘Chubbie’ Reynolds
Funeral services for Ophelia Ann “Chubbie” Reynolds, 50, of Dover, formerly of Georgetown, were held Saturday, March 22, in Calvary Baptist Church, Dover. Ms. Reynolds died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Ms. Reynolds was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Dothan, Ala., daughter of Lucy Reynolds of Georgetown and the late Willie Reynolds.
She received her early education at Sussex Central and later earned a duel degree at Delaware Technical & Community College in the field of criminal justice and human services.
Ms. Reynolds had worked at Stockley Center for several years until her illness. She also worked for the Stevenson Home in Milford.
She was a member of Saint Peter's and Friends Church, Cool Springs.
There was nothing Ms. Reynolds enjoyed more than spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and family. No matter what the event was, she was always there to support family and friends. She enjoyed spending quality time with her mother, whom she loved so much.
In addition to her father, Ms. Reynolds was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Reynolds; a nephew, Travis Reynolds; her maternal grandfather, Woodrow Sparrow; and an uncle, Woodrow Sparrow.
In addition to her mother, Ms. Reynolds is survived by two children, Brianna Hall and Brice Hall, both of Dover; five grandchildren, Brenae, Kala, Breon, Brice and Vaughn; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Martha and Walter Matthews of Salisbury, Md., Maxine and Cecil King of Ellendale, Diane Byrd of Milford and Punie of Enterprise, Ala.; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Willie J. and Cynthia Reynolds of North Carolina, Darrell Paul Reynolds of Enterprise, Larry and Nancy Reynolds of Bridgeville and Willie F. and Rhonda Reynolds of Seaford.
She also is survived by her god-sisters and god-brothers, Katie Bonneville, Emma Adkins, Thomas Ricketts, Anthony Hines and Rosha W. Watson; three goddaughters, Kietsa Hendricks, Charmine Adkins and Kiyana Warren; one godson, Kenji Adkins; two nieces, Cassandra King, Judy King and Erica and Tishena Matthews; three nephews, Keith Reynolds, Devon Reynolds, Rufus Reynolds, Ganez Reynolds, Walter Matthews and Michael Matthews; a special friend, Adam Holmes of Wilmington; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Interment was in Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Ellendale.

Virginia L. ‘Ginny’ Swiggett
Remembrance services for Virginia L. “Ginny” Swiggett, 56, of Dover, were held Friday, March 21, in Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Swiggett died Saturday, March 15, 2008, in her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Swiggett was born on Oct. 19, 1951, in Irvington, N.J., daughter of William and the late Lillian Ditzel Cain.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who always thought of helping others.
Mrs. Swiggett is survived by husband, William E. Swiggett of Dover; a daughter, Karen Byrd of Dover; a son, Paul Cain of New Mexico; a grandson who she was raising, Matthew Nitsch of Dover; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Cain of Dover.
She also is survived stepson, Bill Swiggett Jr.; seven step-grandchildren; four brothers and their wives, William S. Jr. and Gail Cain of Rehoboth Beach, Robert A. and Charlotte Cain of Elkton, Md., Edward M. and Diane Cain of Dover and Gary E. and Linda Cain of Smyrna; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda M. and Kevin Williams of Ellenville, N.Y. and Lillian E. Cain of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ruth Ann Wright, 83, of Dover, were held Friday, March 28, in the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mrs. Wright died Sunday, March 23, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Wright was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Felton, daughter of the late William and Agatha Downes Wright.
She was a bus driver for E&M Bus Service for 31 years.
Her hobbies included playing cards, taking trips to the Amish country in Pennsylvania and Branson, Mo., and dining out.
She enjoyed cooking for family, spending time with her children and grandchildren and she loved hummingbirds. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Wright, in April 1997; and four siblings, Walter Brown, Bill Brown, George Brown and Courtland Brown.
Mrs. Wright is survived by a son, Kenneth “Kenny” Wright and his wife Doris of Felton; a daughter, Debbie Hartnett and her husband Frank of Dover; a brother, Edward Brown of Bridgetown, Md.; two sisters, Doris Colby of New Castle and Helen Clough of Dover; five grandchildren, Charlie Wright of Houston, Tara Fox and her husband John of Harrington, Lori Millar and her husband Mike of Camden, Brian Wright and his companion Cheryl Hastings of Felton and Shelly Miles and her husband Keith of Magnolia; six great-grandchildren, Michael, Jaden, Jaylin, Zoe, Mackenzi and Chloe; and her close friend and companion, Harley “Bud” Brown.
Funeral services for Donald Lee Burris, 48, of Camden, were held Sunday, Feb. 17, at Bibleway Church of God in Christ, Dover. Mr. Burris died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Burris was born, along with his identical twin brother, Ronald Lynn, on May 15, 1959, in Dover, son of Myrtle Burris Jr., now of Camden, and the late Doris Browne Burris.
He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School and received training in auto mechanics at Kent VoTech, now known as Polytech High School.
He last worked at Centreville Manufacturing as a welder.
He spent his young life growing up as a member of Bibleway Temple Church of God in Christ, where he sang in the Sunshine Band and Youth choirs.
Mr. Burris was a joyous person who always had a smile. He will be remembered most for his giving heart and the love he had for his family.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Debora of Milford; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Maurice Simmons and his wife, Kiania Carter, Donald Burris Jr., Ray Lee Thompson and Jermaine Caine, all of Dover; three stepsons, Jason Cahall of Camden, Travis Cahall of Dover and Miles Wilson of Smyrna; and his father’s wife, Joan Draine Burris of Camden.
Mr. Burris also is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Burris-Jackson of Camden; seven brothers and the spouses of four, Myrtle III and Ethel Jean of Felton, Houston Sr. and Patricia of Felton, J.B. and Caroline of Frederica, Edward and Suzette of Camden, Craig of Camden, Ronald of Camden and Mark of Camden; his grandmother, Melvina Browne of Dover; four grandchildren, Desmond, Sairen, Elijah and Matthew; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a special mother-in-law, Doris Cahall; and a special aunt, Ethel Meredith.
Funeral services for Merrill L. Campbell, 69, of Dover, formerly of Baltimore, were held Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Minus Funeral Home, Dover. Mr. Campbell died peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Campbell was born June 8, 1938, in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Elsie Campbell.
He retired from Carlton Bank of Baltimore, and then decided to pursue a bachelor of science degree from Coppin State University, Baltimore.
Mr. Campbell will be missed, especially by many of his bowling friends in Perry Hall, Md., and Dover Brunswick Bowling Lanes.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Carolanne G. Campbell.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his current wife, Elizabeth A. Campbell; his daughter, Tiffany M. Campbell; a granddaughter, Tyanna C. Summerville; four stepchildren, Tamara L. Burns-Hill, Tyrone Roast, Toby Watson, all of Dover, and Niobi Watson of Northhampton, England; four step-grandchildren, La'Keshia, Dominique, Anthony, and Alyssa; a dear friend, Joseph Evans and his wife Lois; and a host of friends and bowling buddies.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Campbell’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Master Sgt. Dennis C. Childres, USAF (Ret.)
Funeral services for Dennis C. Childres, 74, of Magnolia, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call beginning one hour earlier. Mr. Childres died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Childres was born April 2, 1933, in Smithfield, N.C.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from July 1951 to October 1972 during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received an Air Medal for 35 missions to Vietnam, and retired as a master sergeant.
After his retirement, he loved going to flea markets and yard sales, and enjoyed working on watches, clocks and cars.
Mr. Childres was a member of the American Legion and had been honored at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base on a plaque with his flight crew of the C-133.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Braxton Lee Childres; a granddaughter, Sarah; and a grandson, Frank Kirk.
Mr. Childres is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lila M. Childres; four children, Rodney Lee and Mary Kirk of Rapid City, S.D., Cynthia and Doug Goertz of Dover, Charisse Stanley of Dover and Kelli and Alan Walton of Vero Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Avon Williams of Gastonia, N.C., and Virginia "Tommie" Nix of Deland, Fla.; 15 grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
