John J. Boyle, 69, of Cheswold died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Boyle was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Philadelphia, son of the late John James Boyle and Margaret Hargraves Sence.
He worked as a chemist for Concord Chemical, Camden, N.J., for several years before retirement.
Mr. Boyle served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
His hobbies included fishing and watching his son participate in motor-cross racing.
Mr. Boyle is survived by his wife, Harriet Frame Boyle; a daughter, Andrea J. Boyle of Rising Sun, Md.; a son, Bobby Boyle, at home; two sisters, Margaret Golden of Wilmington, and Roberta Stoltzfuss of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Bertie Louise Chelf
Funeral services for Bertie Louise Chelf, 74, of Dover, were held Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Mrs. Chelf died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in her home.
Mrs. Chelf was born Oct. 20, 1933, in Catawba, N.C., daughter of the late Alvin Dellinger Sr. and Josephine Black Dellinger.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafting, NASCAR, camping, her home, and especially loved her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chelf was preceded in death by a brother, Frank E. Dellinger; and a son-in-law, William Reihms.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Arthur M. Chelf; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Chelf of Smyrna, and Patrick Chelf of Lexington, Ky.; and five daughters, Deborah Skeen of Cleveland, Theresa Reihms of Clayton, Barbara Munson of Denton, Md., Marie Westbrook of Felton, and Michele Chelf of Dover.
Mrs. Chelf also is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin Jr. and Judy Dellinger of New Castle; 17 grandchildren, Dawn Burchett, Kristina Dillow, Ralph Baker, Coty Munson, Christopher Carpenter, Madison Westbrook, Britany Chelf, Nathaniel Smith, Tianniah Chelf, Amanda Chelf, Michael Chelf Jr., Kevin Chelf, Aimee Wright, Beckee Skeen, Cyndee Skeen, Thomas Skeen, and Randee Skeen; six great-grandchildren, Courtney Baker, R.J. Baker, Brandon Durham, Robert Dillow III, Tyler Dillow and Braden Wright; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and a special niece, Kelly Wooters.
Interment was in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.

Jason N. Crump
Funeral services for Jason N. Crump, 29, of Dover, were held Friday, Oct. 19, in Union Baptist Church in Dover. Mr. Crump died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Crump was born July 9, 1978, in Dover, the son of Joseph N. Morris and Michele Crump Bryant.
He received his education in the Capital School District and at Polytech High School and was working for the Eagle Group in Smyrna. He loved baseball, starting with T-ball as a young boy and progressing to the senior league.
Mr. Crump also enjoyed fishing, playing computer games and most of all spending time with family and friends.
At an early age, Mr. Crump attended Union Baptist Church with his Pop-Pop, Thomas Morris. He later attended First Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board.
He was a loving son, father, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend, and a delight to be around.
Mr. Crump was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Yvonne Crump; two cousins, Harold Crump and Denise Curd Stratton; an uncle, Richard Durham; and an aunt, Edna Sanders.
Mr. Crump leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Michele Crump Bryant and her husband Dean of Florida; his father and wife, Joseph and Chastine Morris of Dover; his daughter, Jasmine Meyers of Dover; his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Gladys Morris; a sister, Machita Y. Crump; a brother and sister-in-law, Derrick and Valeria Scott; an a stepbrother, Darell Scott, all of Dover; his aunts Dolores Mays, Sandora Crump and Loretta Morris; two uncles Michael Crump and Ernest Crump; a special friend, Angela Erwin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.
Catherine Bea Gallo
Funeral services for Catherine Bea Gallo, 84, of Dover, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Gallo died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Gallo was born in Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Patrick and Margarite Walsh.
She was a homemaker. She was very family oriented, and looked forward to family get-togethers, where she always loved to cook and prepare meals.
Mrs. Gallo enjoyed gardening and canned her own vegetables. She loved to crochet and made many blankets and afghans.
In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and saw many places in the world, including the Fiji Islands and Australia.
Mrs. Gallo was a former member of the Harrington Senior Center and Saint Bernadette Catholic Church of Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Gallo Sr.
Mrs. Gallo is survived by her daughters, Dolores Overstreet of Dover and Catherine Webb of Frederica; her sons, Paul Fallon of Maryland and Ernest Gallo Jr. of Clayton; three brothers, James Walsh, Daniel Walsh and William Walsh; two sisters, Florence Delivuk and Mary Reitano; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth 'Bette' Grygo
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth “Bette” Grygo, 75, of Marydel, was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marydel. Mrs. Grygo died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, in her home, with her family by her side.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Royds Sharpe.
Mrs. Grygo had lived in Cherry Hill, N.J., before moving to the Marydel area in 1967.
She had worked as a receptionist at the Forrest Avenue Animal Hospital from 1998 until recently, when illness forced her to leave.
She was a longtime faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Marydel and was an active member of the Marydel Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
A kind and generous lady, she will be remembered for the wonderful cakes she baked and especially for the kind and generous manner in which she treated those she encountered in life.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Henry “Hank” Grygo in 2003; and her brother, George Sharpe.
Mrs. Grygo is survived by three sons and their wives, Martin and Donna Grygo of Glencoe, Ala., David and Cindy Grygo of Hartly, and Steven and Ailene Grygo of Atlanta, Ga.; and three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Dave Schepens, Theresa and Chris Nolett, and Trish Grygo, all of Marydel.
She also is survived by her sister, Mabel Ewing of Lansdowne, Pa.; three brothers, Thomas Sharpe, Fred Sharpe, and Donald Sharpe, all of New Jersey; nine grandchildren, Joseph Grygo, Adam Grygo, Alison Grygo, all of Glencoe, Amber Grygo of Marydel, McKenzie Ware of Hartly, Morgan Grygo of Atlanta, Mike Schepens, Lynn Schepens, Kristin Nolett, all of Marydel; and one great-grandchild, Kylie Grygo of Marydel.

Mary J. Lansu
Funeral services for Mary J. Lansu, 59, of Dover, were held Friday, Oct. 19, in the Francis Funeral Home, Philadelphia. Ms. Lansu died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, in Philadelphia.
Funeral services for Sgt. Joseph F. Montruchio, 48, of Hartly, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Mr. Montruchio died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, while serving his country at Fort Dix, N.J.
Sgt. Montruchio was born Jan. 20, 1959, in Wilmington, the son of the late Victor J. and Mary Louise Montruchio.
He was raised in Wilmington, and graduated from William Penn High School in 1977. After graduating, he enlisted in the Army and served four years as a medic, where he earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge and Expert Medical Badge while serving in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1980.
He had worked at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
After the tragedy of 9/11, he was inspired to serve his country a second time by enlisting in the Delaware National Guard. Sgt. Montruchio was mobilized from February 2003 until December 2005, and helped provide security at Dover Air Force Base in support of the global war on terrorism.
This past summer, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal.
Sgt. Montruchio had been at Fort Dix receiving weapons training at the time of his death. As a tribute to his exemplary service, he was posthumously awarded the Army Commendation Medal and posthumously promoted to the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, was an avid Washington Redskins fan, and enjoyed watching the History Channel. In addition, he loved camping, surf fishing and working on his car.
Sgt. Montruchio will be remembered as a caring person who loved to make others happy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend, Carmen “Speedy” Montoro.
Sgt. Montruchio is survived by his wife of four years, Jo Ann Montruchio; a son, Victor Montruchio of Ohio; two daughters, Julie Montruchio of Atlanta, Ga., and Savannah Montruchio of Hartly; two sisters, Lisa Montruchio and Vickie Bodine, both of Newark; and two grandchildren.
Interment with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
