A Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine M. Hughes, 70, of Dover, was celebrated Friday, June 29, at the Church of the Holy Cross, Dover. Mrs. Hughes died Saturday, June 23, 2007, in the University of Maryland Shock-Trauma Center, Baltimore.
Born in Holyoke, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Rhea Leah Baron.
Mrs. Hughes moved to Dover in 1968 and since that time was an active member of the Church of the Holy Cross.
Active in the Cub Scouts throughout the years, she served as a den mother for Pack 154 and often participated in her children’s activities.
Mrs. Hughes enjoyed cake decorating and possessed a unique ability of being able to prepare a family meal for 30 in a precise and timely manner.
Throughout her adult life, her priorities were her children and, in recent years, her grandchildren.
A gentle and kind woman, she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert M. Hughes, in 2001; and her brother, Richard Baron.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by three sons, Michael R. of Dover, Joseph A. of Felton, and Kevin F. of Temple, Texas; five daughters, Mary Ann Hughes-Muenchow of Newark, Kathleen “Kay” Hughes and Theresa A. Hughes-Vander-Schel, both of Dover, Jacqueline Abbott of Houston and Julia Hughes-Gillespie of Nampa, Idaho; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Grace C. Jones, 69, of Hartly, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, followed by a private family service from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Mrs. Jones died after a brave and difficult battle with cancer Saturday, June 30, 2007, surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband of 53 years.
Mrs. Jones was born June 30, 1938, in Baltimore, the second of four children to the late John and Pearl Hartlove.
Raised in Maryland, she and her husband moved to Delaware in 1974, where she devoted her time to family, church and many children programs.
She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Dover, for many years before her issues with health began to arise.
Early on she worked as a teacher for the Holy Cross CCD program as well as an aide for Fairview Elementary School in Dover. She went on to start a home day care service, Small Wonders, which she ran from her home for more than 15 years.
Mrs. Jones was especially wonderful with children; they meant the world to her and she gave everything of herself to ensure that working parents or others in need of childcare had a warm and loving environment for their children.
By many she was known as “Ms. Gracie,” but to her six children she was and will always be “Mom.”
After she retired, she traveled with her husband and enjoyed spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband, Gene R. Jones Sr.; a sister, Helen Mitchell of Hanover, Pa.; a brother, Lester Hartlove of Linthicum, Md.; and six children she loved to be with, Gene R. Jones Jr. and Faye Collins of Felton, Gary and Nance Jones of Littlestown, Pa., Gwyn and Walter Gustavson of Felton, Gregg Jones and Marty Brozena of Middletown, Glen and Jennifer Jones of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Dover, and Grant and Cindy Jones of Dover.
She also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Mulligan of Waxhaw, N.C., Tim Jones and his son Cole Jones of Hanover, Shawn and Nicki Cooney of Hanover, Shannon Jones and her son Mark Jones of Lincoln, Lauren Jones of Lincoln, Jason Collins of Felton, Daniel Jones of Dover, and Sydney, Camryn and William Jones of Raleigh, formerly of Dover.

Henry Lee Kiser
Funeral services for Henry Lee Kiser, 73, of Wyoming, were held Thursday, June 28, in the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mr. Kiser died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Capitol Health Care, Dover.
Mr. Kiser was born Sept. 20, 1933, son of the late Albert Kiser and Lucy Ferris Kiser.
He received his education in the public school system of Alabama, then moved to Hastings, Fla., where he worked for many years. He and his wife later moved to Freehold, N.J., and then to Wyoming in 1986, where he worked and retired from Metal Craft.
His favorite pastimes were listening to music and sitting on the porch, watching cars as they went by his home.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kiser was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Kiser Sr. and Robert Kiser; and a sister, Jewel Livingston.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eartha Williams Kiser; and three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Lee and Eunice Kiser of Camden-Wyoming, Willie Lee and Ida Mae Gadson of Savannah, Ga., and Horace Kiser of Hastings, Fla.
Mr. Kiser also is survived by two brothers, Raymond Kiser and his wife, Gladys, of Milford, and James A. Kiser of Hastings, Fla.; five sisters, Mary A. Brady, Lillie Hoskins of Camden-Wyoming, Goldie Charlotte and Catherine Kiser of Dover and Joyce M. Williams of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosalynn B. ‘Moie’ Lomax
Funeral services for Rosalynn B. “Moie” Lomax, 94, of Dover, were held Saturday, June 30, in Calvary Baptist Church, Dover. Mrs. Lomax died after a short illness Wednesday June 20, 2007, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Lomax was born Dec. 12, 1912, in Woodside, daughter of the late Alcade and Frances Baynard.
Mrs. Lomax attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and completed 10th grade at Delaware State College High School. She furthered her education in Philadelphia.
While living in Delaware she worked for the public school district as a main food and pastry cook in the school cafeteria.
Mrs. Lomax attended the University of Delaware during the summer months to enhance her cooking skills. She retired from the state in 1975. She later worked as a cook at Wesley College, the Mount Zion A.M.E. Church Day Care Center and the Capitol Green Day Care Center, all in Dover.
As a young woman she was a member of Union Baptist Church, joining Calvary Baptist Church in the 1970s. She served on the senior usher board.
Mrs. Lomax loved to go fishing, work on puzzles, draw, crochet and bake. During her quiet time, she loved to read the Bible.
She was married to the late Mitchell “Pop” Lomax for 45 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
Mrs. Lomax is survived by a daughter, Gladys Ethel Marie Olivia Carroll, and a son, Mitchell Reginald Lomax, both of Dover; three grandchildren, Jeremiah E. Carroll of Smyrna, Cynthia Rosalynn Clark of Dover and Yvonne Annette Lomax of Dover; and four great-grandchildren, Melissa Onley of Exmore, Va., Kevin Clark of Appomattox, Va., and Tammy Clark and Amanda Carroll, both of Dover.
She also is survived by an adopted daughter, Peggy Bratten, and her husband, Elmer, of Dover; an adopted son, the Rev. Henry Brown, and his wife, Eliza, of Salisbury, Md.; three adopted grandsons, Aaron, Andrew and Joseph Bratten, all of Dover who she helped raise; a special niece, Ailene Collins of Wilmington who she raised; two special friends, Mrs. Alice Dailey and Mrs. Marie Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Arrangements were by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
Ruth Elizabeth Malin
Funeral services for Ruth Elizabeth Malin, 60, of Felton, formerly of Newark, were held Saturday, June 30, in the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mrs. Malin died Saturday, June 16, 2007, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Joshua Dwight Mast
Funeral services for Joshua Dwight Mast, 19, of Felton, were held Saturday, June 30, in Melvin’s Funeral Home, Harrington. Mr. Mast died Sunday, June 24, 2007, in Nassawadox, Va., of injuries sustain in an automobile accident.
Mr. Mast was the son of Michael and Karen Mast, of Felton.
Growing up, he enjoyed traveling with his father on long haul trips and got to see a lot of the country. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish, and loved to watch movies and infomercials, some so often that he would quote them.
Mr. Mast also enjoyed riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his “Uncle Dave,” watching rodeo videos. In addition, he enjoyed hitting golf balls. He was so determined to do so he tracked down his brother’s left-handed clubs and reclaimed them.
He really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and will be remembered as a loving, big-hearted person.
Mr. Mast worked for Casper Grading and Excavation, a job he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Amos Mast.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mast is survived by his brother, Aaron Mast; the family pet, Majk; and his maternal grandparents, Dwight and Lenora Stephens, all of Felton; his paternal grandmother, Julia Mast, of Clayton; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends.

Cecilia Houseman McNatt
Funeral services for Cecilia Houseman McNatt, 80, of Wyoming, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call one hour before. Mrs. McNatt died Thursday, June 28, 2007, in her home.
Mrs. McNatt was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Leonard and Cecilia Marucci Baione.
She moved from Collingswood, N.J., to Marydel in 1959 with her first husband.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and truly was a friend to her friends. She who enjoyed her family, gardening and shopping, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the country.
Mrs. McNatt was a longtime member of the Marydel Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward C. Houseman, in 1974; and a stepdaughter, Karen Katherine Helene McNatt, in 1982.
Mrs. McNatt is survived by her husband, H. Glenn McNatt of Wyoming; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward "Skeeter" and Sandra Houseman of Marydel; a daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia A.E. and Joseph Grillo of Galloway of Township, N.J.; a sister, Eleanor Borkowski of West Collingswood, N.J.; and a brother, Anthony Baione of Langhorne, Pa.
She also is survived by two grandchildren, Brock A. Houseman and Lauren R. Houseman, both of Marydel; a stepson and his wife, Glenn A. and JoAnn B. McNatt of Smyrna; two step-grandsons and their wives, Jason H. and Molly McNatt, and Aron W. and Samantha McNatt, all of Clayton; and three great-grandchildren, Jason H. McNatt, Jacob H. McNatt and Lilah I. McNatt, all of Clayton.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
