Funeral services for Richard Arthur Brown, 59, of Magnolia, were held Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Calvary Baptist Church, Dover. Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, Pa.
Mr. Brown was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Townsend, son of the late Walter and Mary Brown.
He graduated from Lewis L. Redding High School and attended Delaware Technical & Community College.
Mr. Brown worked for the DuPont Co. and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967. After his tour of duty, he continued to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve for the next 20 years.
He retired in 2005 from the state of Delaware Department of Correction after 27 years of service. He loved all major sports. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Brown was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he actively participated on the usher board, new members committee and summer day camp.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Clarence; and two sisters, Peggy and Alice.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Wanda Curry-Brown of Magnolia; three daughters, Tonya, Angie and Larica; three sons, James, Tory and his wife, Cinnell and Amir; his mother-in-law, Anna Mae Curry; a sister, Cora and her husband, William; two brothers, Donald and his wife, Mary and Tyrone and his wife, Marilyn; a brother-in-law, Darryl Curry; a godson, Franklin Corsey; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alida B. Carroll, 92, of Dover, will be celebrated at noon Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover. Mrs. Carroll died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, in Green Valley Pavilion, Smyrna.
Mrs. Carroll was born April 18, 1914, in Washington County, Texas, daughter of the late Erwin Brandt and Lillie Linnstadter Brandt.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Carroll was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis P. Frank Carroll.
Mrs. Carroll is survived by a brother and two sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brandt of Gonzales, Texas and Mary Hendrick of Wilmington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington.
Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington.

Marilyn Ruth Dick
Funeral services for Marilyn Ruth Dick, 74, of Dover, formerly of Canton and Joliet, Ill., will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Carlson Funeral Home, Joliet. Mrs. Dick died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born April 22, 1932, in Macomb, Ill., Mrs. Dick was the daughter of the late Howard Morris and Trilby Kiefer Morris.
In addition to her parents and husband, who died in September 1979, Mrs. Dick was preceded in death by her sister, a son and a daughter.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Tom and Connie Dick of Pekin, Ill., Robert and Eve Dick of Dover, Gary Dick of Salinas, Kan., and Steven Dick of Parrish, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Mike Horr of Canton, Ill.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Local arrangements were by the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Interment will take place beside her husband in the Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet.
Ida Virginia Fromm
Funeral services for Ida Virginia Fromm, 97, of Dover, formerly of Grasonville, Md., were held Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville, Md. Mrs. Fromm died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Capital Health Care Center, Dover.
Mrs. Fromm was born Nov. 15, 1908, in Grasonville, daughter of the late John Franklin and Florence R. Clevenger Seward.
She attended school in Grasonville and began working for Perfect Garment Co., Grasonville, when she was 14. She retired in 1970.
Mrs. Fromm was a longstanding member of the Grasonville Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Bowen Fromm, whom she married Dec. 30, 1933, and who died March 20, 1962; and 10 siblings, James H. Seward, Pauline Long, Elizabeth Miller, Margaret Chance, Betty Ireland, Lorraine Garrettson, Mildred Dawkins, Marie Jewell, Harvey Seward and Clarice Roope.
Mrs. Fromm is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy V. and Thomas Norris of Dover; two brothers, Alfred Seward of Centreville, Md., and John Seward of Ridgely, Md.; a sister, Jean Radcliffe of Grasonville; two granddaughters, V. Beth Jarrell of Dover and Rebecca J. Walkowiak of Alexandria, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Holly Lynn Jarrell of Dover, Melissa Emily Moon of Albuquerque, N.M., and Amy Beth Jarrell of Wyoming.
Funeral services for Aileen Judy Carter Jones, 88, of Dover, will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, in her home.
Born Jan. 2, 1918, in Chester, Pa., Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Albert Bradford and Beatrice Evans Carter.
She had been a homemaker her entire life, and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Jones was a longtime member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer W. Jones Sr., in 2005.
Mrs. Jones is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, H. William Bill Jr. and Judith Jones of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Beatrice J. and Allen Moore of Dover; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gene Lafferty
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gene Lafferty, 43, of Palm Springs, Ca., will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Mr. Lafferty died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, in his home, with his parents and friends at his side.
Born Nov. 22, 1962, in Philadelphia, Mr. Lafferty was the son of Frank and Pat Lafferty of Dover.
He attended St. Francis de Sales School in Philadelphia, Divine Word Seminary High School in Bordentown, N.J., and Divine Word Seminary in Epworth, Iowa.
Mr. Lafferty worked many years in the development office at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., before moving to Palm Springs. His most recent job was with Guthy-Renker in Palm Desert, Calif. in the accounts receivable department.
He enjoyed the California sun, riding his motorcycle and country music. Mr. Lafferty will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Frank of Quinton, N.J.; Kevin of Swedesboro, N.J.; and Stephen of Fairbanks, Alaska; four sisters Patty of Canmer, Ky.; Terry of Dover; Merceda of Aberdeen, Md., and Maureen of Hershey, Pa.; several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Arrangements were by the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, with a reception to follow in Holy Cross Hall.

Eugene S. Lisinski
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene S. Lisinski, 72, of Dover, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Mr. Lisinski died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Dover.
Born Jan. 31, 1934, in Mt. Carmel, Pa., Mr. Lisinski was the son of the late Stephen and Helen Lisinski.
He attended St. Casmir s Polish Parochial School in Kulpmont, Pa., and graduated from Trevorton High School June 1, 1951.
After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 4, 1951. Upon completion of basic training and technical training as an aircraft and jet engine mechanic, he was transferred to U.S. Air Force Far Eastern Command. He was assigned to the 20th Air Force Command as a mechanic supporting fighter and B-29 air operations during the Korean War.
Mr. Lisinski was honorably discharged from the Air Force on June 4, 1955. He then attended Pennsylvania Military College, now Widener University, and University of Delaware evening division. While attending college he was worked at Dover Air Force Base as a lead aircraft and engine mechanic.
During his tenure at Dover Air Force Base, he was a labor union activist. He was instrumental in organizing and developing the grass roots of the Dover AFB labor union for the American Federation of Government Employees Local No. 1709.
He served as steward, union vice president and one of the authors and negotiators of the first exclusive union contract for Dover Air Force Base employees. He served on numerous union committees and often traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet congressional representatives and lobbyists to enact legislation to benefit all Civil Service employees working for the federal government. He was pragmatically outspoken and championed the cause of the underdog against the status quo.
Mr. Lisinski belonged to many charitable and fraternal organizations. He was a member of VFW Post 3238, the Modern Maturity Center of Dover, 51st Fighter Wing Association, 307th Bomb Wing Association, Mental Health Association of Delaware, Korean War Veterans Association, an associate member of the Widener University Alumni Association, American Federation of Government Employees Local No. 1709 and Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge 203.
He retired from Dover Air Force Base in May 1988 and then worked for the state of Delaware as a training aide with the Department of Mental Retardation. He passionately loved working with the mentally challenged and retired in May 2000 at age 66.
Mr. Lisinski married his devoted, loving wife Maryann Davis in Elkton, Md., Nov. 22, 1962. They both loved to have and attend family social functions. Both enjoyed going to the Modern Maturity Center for dancing, volunteering and socializing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lisinski is survived by two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Linda Lisinski of Magnolia and David and Connie Lisinski of Rising Sun; and a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ray Brown of Dover.
He also is survived by a special grandson, Stephen Lisinski; a special granddaughter, Crystal Ann Lisinski; grandchildren, Cyndi Starr and her husband, Richard, Scott Lisinski, Kyle Brown and Ryan Brown; and a special nephew, Kenneth Reed; two brothers and their wives, Florian and Joan Lisinski of Middletown and John and Georgeanne Lisinski of Lancaster, Pa.; several nieces and nephews and numerous in-laws in the state of Pennsylvania; and his special loving Maltese, Star Diamond, and black retriever, Butch.
