Funeral services for Charles R. Miller, 75, of Dover, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Mr. Miller died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Born May 12, 1931, in Keyser, W.Va., Mr. Miller was the son of the late Roy Miller and Bernice May Brown Miller.
He studied piano at Potomac State College in West Virginia and loved classical music.
Mr. Miller was a retired carpenter. He also was a co-founder of the Crumpton, Md., volunteer fire department.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and, in retirement, spent his time woodworking, traveling and studying history. He liked spending winters at his home in Arcadia, Fla.
Mr. Miller was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Wilmington Local 626 and the Camden Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Moose.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Crew Miller.
Mr. Miller is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jan Miller of Dover; and two daughters, Brenda Fisher of Dover and Shelly McDaniel of Waldorf, Md.
He also is survived by two grandsons, Joshua Miller and Brandon McDaniel; a granddaughter, Kristen McDaniel; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Yvonne Wilson of San Antonio and Donna Lou Goff of Fairmont, W.Va.
Funeral services for Creed S. Morgan, 84, of near Cheswold, were held Monday, Oct. 16, in the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mr. Morgan died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Morgan was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Cheswold, son of the late Harvey and Sara Sally Carney Morgan.
As a young man he was an avid baseball player and had the opportunity to play a game against Satchel Paige.
Mr. Morgan was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, landing at Utah Beach during the Normandy invasion.
He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946 after achieving the rank of corporal.
He died at exactly 4:30 p.m., which was his quit n time for the past 60 years as a carpenter in the Kent County area. He spent the majority of his life working as a carpenter, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
Mr. Morgan was well known throughout Kent County for his craftsmanship, but also for his role constructing many of the housing developments in Dover during the 60s and 70s.
In addition to his family vacations, Mr. Morgan also enjoyed dancing, especially the electric slide, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, farming and playing the slot machines.
He was a member of the Nanticoke Lene Lenape Nation Native American tribe.
All who met Mr. Morgan were touched by his enduring politeness, his perpetual sense of humor and his vigorous appetite for life. He left an impression that mere words cannot describe and the world is a much sadder place because he is no longer in it.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Jr. and Winfred; and five sisters, Dorothy, Edith, Katherine, Naomi and Beatrice.
Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Mosley Morgan; two sons, Gerald C. Morgan of near Cheswold and Col. Jay P. Morgan of Fort Meade, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy S. and David Yannacci of Dover; a brother, Raymond Morgan of near Cheswold; a sister, Gladys Morris of Dover; and three granddaughters, Paige Morgan, Courtney Yannacci and Whitney Yannacci, all of Dover.
Interment was in Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold.

Ruth Ann Pleasanton
Funeral services for Ruth Ann Pleasanton, 84, of Little Creek, were held Sunday, Oct. 15, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mrs. Pleasanton died Oct. 10, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born Jan. 27, 1922, in Greenwood, Mrs. Pleasanton was the daughter of the late Albert and Lovey Ann Legates Donovan.
She was a bookkeeper for her husband s oyster business, and had previously worked at McGinnis Markets.
Mrs. Pleasanton enjoyed shopping, playing bingo and making chicken and dumplings and vegetable beef soup. She looked forward to her annual trips to California, Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nev.
She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Little Creek Fire Co. and a member of the Magnolia Fire Co.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Pleasanton Sr., who died Dec. 10, 1997; and her daughter, Betty Jean Caniford, who died Sept. 20, 2003.
Mrs. Pleasanton is survived by three sons; John E. Pleasanton Jr. of Leipsic, Wayne Pleasanton of Little Creek and Alan Pleasanton and his wife, Sandra, of Leipsic; a daughter, Deborah Keller and her husband, Jim, of Dover; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her cat, Baby.

Louise J. Dabson Sherwin
Funeral services for Louise J. Dabson Sherwin, 82, of Dover, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Mrs. Sherwin died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in Broad Meadows Health Care, Middletown.
Born July 20, 1924, in Henderson, Md., Mrs. Sherwin was the daughter of the late Walter W. Jones and Lola M. Seward Jones.
She worked as the assistant civil defense director for Kent County before retiring in 1984, and was a partner in Baywin Antiques for 10 years. She enjoyed collecting antiques and crocheting.
Mrs. Sherwin was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alan Dabson, in 1981; and her second husband, Walter Sherwin, in 1992.
Mrs. Sherwin is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Connie and Joe Bailey and Penny and Don Gibbs, all of Dover; four grandchildren, Michael Gibbs, Todd Gibbs, Greg Bailey and Kathleen Krishnamurthy; three great-grandchildren, Arun Krishnamurthy, Jeremy Gibbs and August Gibbs.
Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Howard W. Weislogel
Graveside services for Howard W. Weislogel, 87, of Dover, were held Monday, Oct. 16, in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Mr. Weislogel died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Born Oct. 3, 1918, in Newark, N.J., Mr. Weislogel was the son of the late Henry and Grace Zeliff Weislogel.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Weislogel worked at Eberhard-Faber Pencil Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Erika Weislogel; and a daughter, Monica Weislogel.
Mr. Weislogel is survived by a son, Howard H. Weislogel of Exeter, Pa.; three daughters, Lydia Patronelli of Germany, Erika Leahy of Round Hill, Va., and Kathleen Muscatello of Montana; and 11 grandchildren.
Edith E. Bellamy
Funeral services for Edith E. Bellamy, 84, of Dover, were held Saturday, June 10, in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Bellamy died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
She is survived by a daughter, Constance Connie Bryant of Philadelphia; a son, Selwyn Bell Bellamy of Dover; and two sisters, Olivia Wharton and Rebecca Parker.
Funeral services for Peggy Jean Ennis Carson, 78, of Dover, formerly of Clayton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, in St. Peter s Episcopal Church, Smyrna. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Mrs. Carson died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Christiana Hospital, Newark.
Mrs. Carson was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Wilmington, daughter of the late W. Henry Ennis and Catheryn Midlam Ennis.
She was a 1945 graduate of John Bassett Moore High School, Smyrna.
Mrs. Carson worked as a secretary for the Clayton Consolidated School District and later for the Smyrna Middle School guidance office from 1954 until her retirement in 1976.
She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed spending hours researching her family s lineage back to Ireland.
Mrs. Carson was a charter member of the Clayton Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, where she was a past altar guild chairman, a member of the Duck Creek Historical Society and a member of the Red Hat Society of Westminster Village, where she was very active in various clubs and committees.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James H. Carson; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Rosanna Carson, of Smyrna; and a brother, Donald I. Ennis, of Wagontown, Pa.
Mrs. Carson also is survived by two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, J. Gregory Carson, of Smyrna and Matthew R. and Christi Carson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Stefanie C. and Tom Donovan, of Dover; and two great-granddaughters, Olivia Donovan and Emma Donovan, both of Dover.

Ruth Mae Crate
Funeral services for Ruth Mae Crate, 74, of Hartly, were held Tuesday, June 13, in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Mrs. Crate died Friday, June 9, 2006, in Harbor Health Care, Lewes.
Mrs. Crate was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., daughter of the late John Cook and Rose Bessey Cook.
She was a shoemaker for several years and enjoyed crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward J. Potanovich Jr.; and her husband, Charles John Crate Sr.
Mrs. Crate is survived by five sons, Charles Baker, of Eastbend, N.C., Mark Cook, of Pensacola, Fla., Michael John Potanovich, of Townsend, Charles John Potanovich Jr., of Milford and Milton James Crate, of Cambridge, Md.; a daughter, Laurie Foskey, of Greenwood; a sister, Elizabeth Cyr, of Albany, N.Y.; a brother, John D. Cook, of Lewes; and 10 grandchildren.
