Funeral services for Elizabeth A. “Betty” Fedorcha, 66, of Dover, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier. Mrs. Fedorcha died after a long, courageous battle with cancer, Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, in her home.
Mrs. Fedorcha was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Lansford, Pa., daughter of the late Frank and Esther Hrinda Zeno.
She worked for the Caesar Rodney School District food service department at Dover Air Force Base High School, John S. Charlton School and J. Ralph McIlvaine Early Childhood Center before retiring in 2002 after 24 years.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening and crocheting, but mostly enjoying quality time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Fedorcha was a lifetime member of the Delaware Retired School Personnel Association and a member of the Southern Delaware Street Rod Association.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Zeno Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Edward Fedorcha; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward Jr. and Teri Fedorcha of Greensboro, N.C., and David Fedorcha of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Leeanne and Steve Jackson of Camden; and six grandchildren, Stephen Jackson and Jennifer Jackson, both of Camden, Marissa Fedorcha, Courtney Fedorcha and Taylor Fedorcha, all of Greensboro, and Bradley Higgins of Bloomington, Calif.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
Agnes Virginia ‘Agie’ Fordham
Funeral services for Agnes Virginia “Agie” Fordham, 59, of Dover, were held Thursday, Jan. 5, in First Seventh-day Adventist Church, Millsboro. Mrs. Fordham died Friday, Dec. 29, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Fordham was born in Georgetown, daughter of the late Louise E. and Louis Parker.
She was a beautician for 30 years and the owner of Agie’s Hair Den of Dover for 16 years.
Mrs. Fordham was truly devoted to her husband, her family and her friends. She would go out of her way to help and take care of her family even through sickness. She was truly spiritual and gifted. She loved the Lord. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, sewing for her family, knitting blankets and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Flem and Mary Davis.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Henry J. Fordham of Dover; five daughters, Lisa Chandler of Seaford, Karin T. Fordham of Dover, Valerie M. Fordham of Wilmington, and Adrienne C. Fordham and Aletra V. Fordham, both of Dover; four sons, Fredrick E. Parker of Georgetown, Henry J. Fordham Jr., Ali A. Fordham and Nathan A. Fordham, all of Dover; five sisters, Lizzie Collins, Brenda Collins, Money Collins, Marie Gains and Dorothy Parker Taylor; six brothers, Lionel Collins, James Parker, Preston Parker, Darrell Collins, Gerald Parker and Henry Collins; and 19 grandchildren, Tierra, Miranda, Aaliyah, Shakeria, Natasha, Taehja, Nyhjee, Destiny, Aliyah, Deja, Morjai, Aniyah, Peishja, Anthony, Tonicka, Cathrine, Ivan, Germaine and Terrell.
Interment was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, near Millsboro.
Erma S. Garey
Funeral services for Erma S. Garey, 88, of Felton, were held Saturday, Jan. 7, in the Denton Church of the Brethren, Denton. Mrs. Garey died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, in her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Garey was born in Indiana County, Pa., daughter of the late John H. and Carrie Shaffer.
She retired in 1980 from General Foods, Dover, as a line worker. She was also a housewife, and took great pride in raising her large family.
Mrs. Garey was a member of the Denton Church of the Brethren for more than 80 years. She was also a charter member of the United Concerned Christians of Denton, part of the quilting group and choir of the Denton Church of the Brethren and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Felton Fire Co.
She loved flowers, crocheting, embroidery work and quilting. Her creations could be seen every year at the Delaware State Fair where she won many ribbons. She enjoyed watching and feeding birds. She also enjoyed watching the birds eating from the feeder that she had by her window, and especially loved to watch her cardinals and hummingbirds. She loved to travel and traveled extensively to places like Paris, Athens, Germany, Alaska, and her favorite, The Holy Lands. At the Holy Lands, she was able to meet Johnny Cash, while he was there filming a movie, and had her picture taken with him. She also traveled in the United States from Maine to Florida, and all parts between the East Coast and California. She will be remembered as a hard-working woman who was never sick until she was 74 years old. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Roland Garey; four brothers, Alvin, George, Ken and John Shaffer; two sisters, Edna Blough and Gladys Collison; and a granddaughter, Karen Garey
Mrs. Garey is survived by seven sons, Paul R. Garey of Greenwood, Robert F. Garey of Felton, Donald L. Garey of Felton, Kenneth E. Garey of Harrington, Retired Lt. Col. Larry R. Garey of Houston; Gerald P. Garey of Greensboro, Md., and William R. Garey of Harrington; two daughters, Priscilla Morris and Juanita G. Melling, both of Felton; two sisters, Mildred O’Day of Greenwood and Kathleen Cole of Denton, Md.; 25 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Sheila Green
Sheila Green, 59, of Marydel, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, in Westminster Village Nursing home.
Mrs. Green was born June 16, 1946, in Milford, daughter of the late William Edward and Evelyn (Robinson) Taylor.
She worked as a secretary for Westminster Village HCC, Dover, for 18 years.
Mrs. Green enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Middletown.
Mrs. Green is survived by her husband of ten years, Robert Green of Marydel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jessica Green of Hartly, and David and Marlene Green of Fort Meade; one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Shane Dortch of Clarksville, Tenn.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, William and Betty Taylor of Lanham, and Jeff Taylor and his companion, Peggy Wolf, both of Templeville; six grandchildren, Timothy Green, Travis Green, Darren Green, Mikala Green, Dillon Dortch and Brooke Dortch; two nieces, Missy Anderson of New York and Chrissy Taylor of Templeville.
Memorial services were private.

Richard H. Goriup
Celebration of Life Services for Richard H. Goriup, 71, of Dover, were held Monday, Jan. 9, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dover. Mr. Goriup died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, in his home with family members present.
Mr. Goriup was born April 17, 1934, in New York City, son of the late Richard and Eleonore Kaufmann Goriup.
He graduated from Columbia High School, East Greenbush, N.Y. He attended Albany State Teachers College, and graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y., with an associate in applied science degree.
Mr. Goriup was a U.S. Army veteran, with service in Alaska.
His previous employment was with General Electric in Pittsfield, Mass.; with Playtex and with Equitable Life Insurance Co., both in Dover; and with Thrivent Financial Services of Delaware.
He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran School, Dover, holding many positions.
Mr. Goriup is survived by his wife, Jacqueline L. Goriup of Dover; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Richard and Anita Goriup of Idaho Falls, Idaho, John Anthony Goriup of Magnolia and Timothy Paul and Kala Goriup of Honolulu; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Grace and Charles Fox of Kapolei, Hawaii, Inez and Fred Darmanin of Brooksville, Fla., and Eleonora and Michael Momrow of Sand Lake, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Eryn and Delaney; and a grandson, Matthew.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Maria ‘Jeanine’ Hastings
A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria “Jeanine” Hastings, 44, of Dover, was celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Seaford. Mrs. Hastings died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, in her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Hastings was born May 12, 1961, in Easton, Md., daughter of the late Carson and Eugena Hehman Williams.
She graduated from Seaford Senior High School in 1979.
Mrs. Hastings worked at the Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital in the Rehabilitation Department, and also was a certified massage therapist.
She enjoyed gardening, yard work and other outdoor activities, and spending time with close friends and family, especially her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
Mrs. Hastings is survived by her husband of 18 years, Clyde Taylor “C.T.” Hastings Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, April Marie Myer and Brent Garfield of Dover; a son, Brent Mathew Hastings of Dover; and three grandchildren, Jibrael Garfield, Rahilah Garfield and Ali Garfield, all of Dover.
She also is survived by three brothers and their wives, Curtis and Vonnie Williams of Salisbury, Md., Craig and Carolyn Williams of Virginia, and Gerry and Janet Williams of North Carolina, as well as their families; and many loyal and loving friends.

Dorsey Eugene ‘Gene’ Hicks
Funeral services for Dorsey Eugene “Gene” Hicks, 55, of Dover, were held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington. Mr. Hicks died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Hicks was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Harrington, the son of Pauline Webb and the late Dorsey F. Hicks.
He worked at Playtex as a warehouse supervisor, retiring in 2003 after 34 years of service.
Mr. Hicks enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola and Harley Davidson memorabilia and was proud of his large collection. He was also a NASCAR fan and enjoyed the races at Dover Downs. He was an avid NFL fan, especially watching the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Hicks; and Ethel and Henry Stubbs of Harrington, who raised him.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Shaun Hicks of Farmington; a daughter, Angela Hicks of Farmington; four sisters, Carol Robinson of Lincoln, Brenda Wix of Harrington, Helena Ellingsworth of Camden-Wyoming and Yvonne Lola Wooleyhand of Felton; three brothers, Danny Hicks of Harrington, and John Hicks and Robin Hicks, both of Felton; and his faithful cat, Pipe.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Hick’s name may be made to the American Heart Association.

Marcella Jane Johnson
Funeral services for Marcella Jane Johnson, 51, of Viola, were held Friday, Jan. 6, in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Felton. Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Monroe, Mich., daughter of the late Junior Joseph West and Diana McCutcheon of Newark. She moved here in 1995 from Virginia.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Tyler, cooking, making pottery and clothes, watching butterflies and collecting angels.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the South Side Baptist Church, Camden.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe West.
She is survived by her mother, Diana McCutcheon of Newark; her husband, James L. Johnson of Viola; a daughter, Angel Nepi of Newark; a son, Arthur Noell of Viola; six brothers, Richard Comer of West Virginia, Sonny West of Tennessee, Buggsy West and Charles West, both of Honolulu, Hardy Price of Delaware City, and Bud Price of Marion, Va.; three sisters, Linda Sue Cochran of Viola, Doreen Rouser of Newark, and Irene Kloeckner of New Castle; and a grandson, Tyler Noell.
