Mya Denise Spady, infant
BRIDGEVILLE - Mya Denise Spady of Bridgeville died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, in her home. She was an infant.
Mya was born Jan. 1, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, daughter of Marvin Spady and Lakeisha Cannon, both of Bridgeville. Mya was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Brandon Henley, Marvin Spady Jr. and Keishawn Spady, all of Bridgeville; a sister, Alijae Cannon of Bridgeville; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Alfreda Cannon; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Dorothy Spady of Milford; five aunts and five uncles; and a host of cousins.
Services will be noon Saturday in Young's Funeral Home, 308 N. Front St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Middleford.
Weldon O. Thomas, 84
CLAYTON - Weldon O. Thomas of Clayton died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in his home. He was 84.
Mr. Thomas was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Wilmington.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Thomas had worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Howard Thomas; a daughter, Kay Mauchin of Banner Elk, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services and burial were held privately.

Patricia M. Walls, 66
WOODLAND BEACH - Patricia M. Walls of Woodland Beach died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 66.
Mrs. Walls was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late John and Lovella Loebe.
She had been employed as a nursing assistant at Courtland Manor Nursing Home and Westminster Village Nursing Home, both of Dover, for about 12 years. She retired in 1992.
Mrs. Walls enjoyed crossword puzzles, country music, cooking, and especially taking care of others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John C. Walls III, and a daughter, Linda Marie Ritter.
She is survived by her husband, John C. Walls Sr.; a brother, George T. Loebe of Kernersville, N.C.; a sister, Francis Mansure of Wilmington; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Holland P. 'Woody' Woodall Jr., 60
MAGNOLIA - Holland P. "Woody" Woodall Jr. of Magnolia died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in his home. He was 60.
Mr. Woodall was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Magnolia, son of the late Holland P. Woodall and Doris Woodall.
He graduated from William Henry High School, Dover.
Mr. Woodall enlisted and served in the U.S. Army for eight years, with a tour of duty in Vietnam, two tours in Korea and a tour in Germany.
He was employed with Playtex for 35 years.
Mr. Woodall enjoyed fishing, motorcycling and photography. He was a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his wife, Emma G. Woodall; a son, Holland "Woody" Woodall III; his stepmother, Beatrice Woodall of Philadelphia; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, James and Mary Woodall of Edgewood, Md., Kenneth and Karen Woodall of Coatsville, Pa., Reginald and Gloria Woodall of Barclay, Md., Donald Woodall of Manhattan, N.Y., Larry and Earlue Woodall of Lincoln and Anthony Woodall of El Paso, Texas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carole Mattice of Alexandria, Va., and Phyllis and Alan Brown of Dover; his aunts and their husbands, Helen Mosley, Agnes and Chester Lamb, Iris and William Wilson, Lillian and Charles Jackson and Florence Woodall, all of Dover, and Barbara Williams of Magnolia; his uncles and their wives, Walter and Elaine Bowers, Nathan Bowers of Smyrna, Bertue Bowers of Elkton, Md., and Carlton and Debbie Bowers of Washington, D.C.; a great-uncle, Glen Clark of Hartly; a sister-in-law, Margaret Wisher of Magnolia; his special friends, Anita Herron of Dover, Ingeborg Gillmann of Idar-Oberstein, Germany, Donald and Rita Miller of Rising Sun and Richard and Bonnie Miller of Lady Lake, Fla.; and a special nephew, Frederick "Ricky" Wisher.
Services will be noon Saturday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call an hour-and-a-half earlier.
Burial will be private in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Allen Arthur Grimes, 85
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Allen Arthur Grimes of Chestertown died of natural causes Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 85.
Mr. Grimes was born in Kent County, son of the late Mary Wright Sparks and John Grimes.
He attended Garnett High School.
Mr. Grimes joined the U.S. Army and served his country in World War II.
He was employed by the Campbell Soup Co. Following his retirement, he worked for Starkey Farms until the early 1990s.
Mr. Grimes was a member of the Male and Female Beneficial Association No. 2.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Cann Grimes; a half-brother, Joseph Wilson; and a half-sister, Lottie Wilmer.
He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Clara Miller, Shirley Hamilton and Frances Kellum, all of Chestertown; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Miller and Melvin Hamilton, both of Chestertown; two nieces, Sandra Lindsey and Cassandra Edwards; a grandson, Dareaus Anderson; and a devoted friend, Allen Trinks.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Janes United Methodist Church in Chestertown, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. Gonzalee Matthews will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Grace E. Mills, 87
MILLSBORO - Grace E. Mills of Millsboro, formerly of Seaford, died Monday, April 28, in Green Valley Nursing Home, Millsboro. She was 87.
Mrs. Mills was born in Laurel, daughter of the late George W. and Edna Mae Parsons Jones.
She was a salesperson at Peebles in Seaford.
Her favorite pastimes were making and collecting crafts, and she loved beads and seashells. She will be missed and remembered as a great cook by her family and friends.
Mrs. Mills was a member of Seaford Wesleyan Church, The Ark in Seaford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steve Mills; and two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, George S. Mills Sr.; a daughter, Joan E. Wilson of Georgetown; a daughter-in-law, Judy Novak of Lake, Mich.; a sister, Beatrice Young of Salisbury, Md.; five grandchildren, John Mills of Laurel, Sandi Tyson of Denver, Richard Wilson of Seaford, Faith Champlin of Georgetown and David Wilson of Milford; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Short Funeral Home, 700 W. St., Laurel.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where friends may also call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.
Allen Lloyd Perry Sr., 64
ROCK HALL, Md. - Allen Lloyd Perry Sr. of Rock Hall died Monday, April 28, 2003, in his home. He was 64.
Mr. Perry was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Rock Hall, son of the late James Edward and Ida Mae Middleton Perry.
He was educated in the Rock Hall school system.
At a young age he began his career as a self-employed waterman. He harvested oysters, fish, and crabs in his workboat, "Al Ray," which was also the name he was affectionately known as. Mr. Perry worked in this capacity until his retirement in 2000.
Mr. Perry was a member of Chestertown Elks Lodge and the Waterman's Association.
He is survived by a son, Allen Lloyd Perry Jr. of Baltimore; a daughter, Laurie Perry Gardner of Stevensville; two sisters, Betty Mae Beck of Rock Hall and Ada Louise Parsons of Baltimore; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Alana Gardner of Stevensville; and his ex-wife, Elaine Benda Perry, to whom he was married for 22 years.
Graveside memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Rock Hall.

Inez E. (Johnson) Sherbine, 92
DOVER - Inez E. (Johnson) Sherbine of Dover, and formerly of Wilmore, Pa., died of natural causes Thursday, April 10, 2003, in the home of her daughter, with whom she resided. She was 92.
Mrs. Sherbine was born Jan. 28, 1911, in Beaverdale, Pa., daughter of the late Swan John and Elizabeth (Larson) Johnson.
She was a retired teacher, having taught both elementary-school and special-education students.
Mrs. Sherbine was a former member of Wilmore United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Lawrence Sherbine; a son, Robert Sherbine; three brothers, Carl Johnson, Harry Johnson and Edward Johnson; and a sister, Margaret Fil.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald and Nancy Tavernini Sherbine and John and Cheryl Richardson Sherbine, all of Portage, Pa.; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Joyce Lynn and Don Ruthrauff of Sacramento, Calif., Karen "Kessy" and William Schade of San Diego and Glenda Gay and David Diehl of Dover; an additional daughter-in-law, Edie Sherbine of Portage; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Craig of Utica, Mich., Madelyn Faure of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Elsie Twedt of Mankato, Minn.; a brother, Charles Johnson of Beaverdale; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mackel of Johnstown, Pa.
Visitation, services and burial were in Pennsylvania.

Elsie Mae Joseph Smith, 88
WINTER PARK, Fla. - Elsie Mae Joseph Smith of Winter Park, and formerly of Lewes, Del., died of natural causes Monday, April 28, 2003, in Regents Park Nursing Home in Winter Park. She was 88.
Mrs. Smith was born Saturday, Dec. 12, 1914, in Hollymount, Del., near Lewes, daughter of the late Emma Marsh and Frederick W. Joseph.
She was a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway, Del., and of Henlopen Grange 20.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Smith, in 1991; and a daughter, Phyllis Dameron.
She is survived by two sons, Leslie C. Smith of Seaford, Del., and Robert F. Smith of Lewes; a daughter, Carolyn Henderson of Orlando; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway Cemetery.
Kathryn I. Webb, 81
MILFORD - Kathryn I. Webb of Milford died Tuesday April 29, 2003, in her home. She was 81.
Mrs. Webb was born in Milford, daughter of the late Lucius C. and Alice (Robbins) Webb.
She was a graduate of Milford High School and then attended Keystone Secretarial School in Swarthmore, Pa.
After school, she began working as a secretary in Philadelphia.
She then moved back to Delaware to work at the Playtex Corp. for several years, where she started as a secretary and retired as payroll secretary.
Mrs. Webb was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church, Milford, the Milford A.A.R.P. and was a master gardener.
She is survived by two sisters, Orpha W. Ashton of Milford and Margaret W. Osborne of Dover; a brother, Robbins (Bob) Webb of Milford; four nieces; four nephews; five great nieces; and eight great nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, North Walnut Street, Milford.

Richardine 'Tiny' White, 46
DOVER - Richardine "Tiny" White of Dover died of natural causes Sunday, April 27, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 46.
Ms. White was born in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late Ethel Irene Pickney White of Queens.
She worked at Kent Crest, Delaware State University, Woolworth's and Playtex of Dover. She retired from Playtex.
She loved cooking big dinners for family and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping for herself and grandchildren with her daughters. She also liked spending time with her sister, Deborah Watts of Magnolia.
Ms. White previously attended Love Temple, under the leadership of Elder Louis Bowers Sr., and participated in various activities. She was president of the singles ministries, press coordinator for Love Temple Ensemble, president of vacation Bible school and a member of Y.W.C.C. She also was an usher and sang in the Love Temple choir and Love Temple Ensemble. After being a member of Love Temple for 15 years, she became a member of Emanuel Pentecostal Church under Bishop Cooper.
In addition to her sister, she is survived by three daughters, Quinetta M. Abrams, Shajuanna White and Jamella White, all of Dover; a son-in-law, William H. Abrams Jr.; a nephew, Robert White of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Kaylin Brundage, Jada Abrams, Kalil Abrams, Sakai Person, Keon Malone and Namiah Malone, all of Dover; and a number of brothers and sisters in New York.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Dover.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Emanuel Pentecostal Church of God.
