REHOBOTH BEACH - June G. Townsend of Rehoboth Beach died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was 74.
Mrs. Townsend was a secretary at Wilmington Trust Co. for several years.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Larrimore Glanding.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Wallace P. "Wally" Townsend; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Russell Cooper of Rehoboth Beach; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Pete and Cindy Townsend of Rehoboth Beach and Charlie and Cindy Townsend of Washington, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Kelly Davis, Brandi Townsend, Scottt Townsend, Tyler Townsend, Paige Townsend, Casey Cooper and Colby Cooper; and a great-grandson, Aaron Davis.
Services will be 3 p.m. today in Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Goergetown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Gull House in care of Beebe Medical Center Foundation, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.

Jayes E. Denney, 64
LEIPSIC - Jayes E. Denney of Leipsic died of natural causes Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in the Green Valley Pavilion, south of Smyrna, with family members at his side. He was 64.
Mr. Denney was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Dover, son of the late Harvey E. and Leona H. Rash Denney.
He was a member of the Delaware Army National Guard.
He worked for a number of years at Playtex as a designer, did graphics and printing for the state of Delaware and owned and operated The Browsing Box on Loockerman Street and J.E. Denney Sales of Dover and Smyrna.
Mr. Denney was a life member of the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Co., where he served as secretary and also as a fire police officer.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Frances W. Denney; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Gary and Kathy Faries of Maryland; a stepdaughter, Susan Hurt of Maryland; four step-grandchildren, all of Maryland; a sister and brother-in-law, Mona Ann and Jimmie Sipple of Leipsic; a niece, Jo Anne Boots, and Mrs. Boots' husband, Sam, both of Leipsic; and a great-niece and great-nephew, both of Leipsic.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 131, Dover, DE 19903.

William J. Keefer, 52
FELTON - William J. Keefer of Felton died of complications of cancer Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in his home. He was 52.
Mr. Keefer was born in south Philadelphia, son of the late Robert A. and Henrietta Bowers Keefer.
He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran.
Mr. Keefer moved to the Dover area in 1971 and had been employed at Midway Slots in Harrington, where he had worked as a building mechanic.
A dedicated and loving father, he was an avid reader and model-auto builder who could often be found enjoying a game of darts.
Mr. Keefer was a longtime member of the DelVets Club of Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Keefer.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Marie Bibb of Bridgeville; two sons, U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Michael W. Keefer of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Mark A. Keefer of Harbeson; a sister, Rita T. Mallon of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; and his longtime friend and caregiver, Angie Harris of Dover.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, near Millsboro.
Burial will be in the veterans cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Du Pont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Robert C. Langrell Jr., 61
DOVER - Robert C. Langrell Jr. of Dover died, after a long illness, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. He was 61.
Mr. Langrell was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Salisbury, Md., son of the late Robert C. and Dorothy Parker Langrell.
He was a graduate of Lewes High School. He received his associate's degree in elementary education from Wesley College in Dover and his bachelor's degree in education from Delaware State College, now Delaware State University, in Dover. He graduated from Salisbury State College, now Salisbury University, Salisbury, Md., where he received his master's degree in education.
Mr. Langrell was a U.S. Army veteran.
He lived in Smyrna from 1966 until moving to Dover in 1969. He had served as an elementary-education teacher with the Capital School District and had retired in 1994. He also served as assistant coach of the Wesley College football team for 20 years and was inducted into the Wesley College Hall of Fame in October.
Mr. Langrell was a loving husband and father and will be remembered for his love for sports, chess and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia Rossiter Langrell of Dover; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert G. and Tina Langrell of Las Vegas and Michael G. and Michelle Langrell of Magnolia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet G. and Daniel Burns of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Patricia G. Langrell, as well as Ms. Langrell's fiancé, Evan Frazer, both of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren, Caroline Burns and Emily Burns, both of Winston-Salem, Connor Langrell, Garrett Langrell, Megan Brickley and Katie Brickley, all of Las Vegas; and his stepfather, Ralton H. Dennis of Lewes.
Services and burial will be private.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a favorite charity.

John Walter Owens, 90
DELMAR, Md. - John Walter Owens of Delmar died of natural causes Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Chancellor Care Center in Delmar. He was 90.
Mr. Owens was born in Fruitland, son of the late John Wesley Owens and Annie Bye Owens.
He worked as a carpenter and farmer.
He was an avid hunter, and earned many hunting trophies.
Mr. Owens attended the Delmarva Evangelistic Church in Salisbury. He was a member of the Sonshine Club in Salisbury. He was a former member of the Beagle Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Ruark Owens; a son, Albert "Sonny" Owens; a sister, Dorothy Owens; and two brothers, Russell Owens and Floyd Owens
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard David and Bonnie Owens of Delmar; a granddaughter, Stephanie Owens of Salisbury; four grandsons and the wives of two, Keith Owens of Delmar, John F. and Ann Owens and Christian and Laura Owens, all of Mardela Springs, and Adam Owens of Salisbury; a great-grandson, Zachory Owens of Mardela Springs; a sister, Virgie Nichols of Delmar; and several nieces and nephews
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St., Delmar, Del., where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Dr. Ray Chamberlain will officiate.
Burial will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.

Vivian J. Sisco, 66
DOVER - Vivian J. Sisco of Dover died of complications of cancer Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia. He was 66.
Mr. Sisco was born April 17, 1936, in Alton, Mo., son of the late Vivian H. and Helen A. Sisco.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Sisco then worked as a truck driver for 24 years, including for Boncosky Trucking of Algonquin, Ill., for the past 10 years.
He was a member of American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.
He is survived by four sons, Vivian H. "Rocky" Sisco III and Jeffrey Sisco, both of Wichita, Kan., John J. Sisco of Fort Sill, Okla., and Gene Sisco of Fredericksburg, Pa.; four daughters, Thalia Harrison of Wichita, Vicky Sargent of Elkton, Md., Lisa Sargent of Randallstown, Md., and Leta Fowler of Bernville, Pa.; a sister, Virginia Leninsky of O'Fallon, Ill.; and a special friend, Sue Rash of Dover.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover.
Burial will be in Bailey Cemetery, Alton.

Ruby E. Walker, 71
MILLSBORO - Ruby E. Walker of rural Millsboro, and formerly of Baltimore, died of heart failure Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 71.
Mrs. Walker was born in Blue Ridge, Ga., daughter of the late Flora Ann Holt Falls and Avery Dean Falls.
She moved to North Carolina, and later, to Baltimore, where she lived more than 40 years before retiring to Delaware in 1989.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jonas Calvin Walker, in 1998; and a sister, Beachell Hoffman.
She is survived by a son, Jonas Calvin Walker III of Baltimore; a daughter, Pamela Meier of Millsboro; four grandsons, Jason Walker of Baltimore and Paul Ewell, Eric Ewell and Patrick Ewell, all of Lewes; a granddaughter, Carrie Meier of Millsboro; a great-granddaughter, Cassidy Jackson of Millsboro; and two brothers, Dean Falls of Baltimore and Wesley Falls of Huntersville, N.C.
Services will be private.

Clara Louise Crouse, 64
FELTON - Clara Louise Crouse of Felton died after an extended illness Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Bay-health/Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 64.
Mrs. Crouse was born in Woodside, daughter of K. Dorothy Dill of Felton and the late Earl Andrews.
She was a retired employee of the state of Delaware, where she worked in the state insurance department.
She was loved and revered by a legion of friends and colleagues who depended on her to take charge, speak her mind, and "keep them straight." She was well-known to remind people to "Read your book".
Mrs. Crouse was a lifetime member of the Felton Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a very involved member of the Harrington Women of the Moose since March 1, 1969, and, with more than 34 years of dedicated service, Chapter 1229, where she held several offices and positions at the local and regional level. These positions and offices included senior regent 1973-1974; Academy of Friendship May 7, 1972; College of Regents June 12, 1976; star recorder May 28, 1983; deputy grand region 1987-1988. She was a life member since May 6, 1993.
Mrs. Crouse was also the kitchen chairperson for 16 years and took charge of many dinners.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 46 years, Harry Richard "Dick" Crouse of Felton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Nancy Crouse of Waldorf, Md. and Doug and Karen Crouse of Harrington; two daughters, Debra and Ralph Fitch of Clayton and Sandra and Mike Hernandez of Dover; five grandchildren, Michael Hernandez, Jeffrey and Justin Crouse, and Heather and Jennifer Crouse.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harring-ton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, where friends may also call two hours earlier. The Rev. Bruce Tribbitt of Manship Chapel will officiate.
A Women of the Moose memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday
Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Women of the Moose, Chapter 1229, PO Box 277, Harrington, DE 19952. All memorial gifts will be dispersed to her favorite charities of the Moose.

Ella Mae 'Cookie' Darden, 55
PHILADELPHIA - Ella Mae "Cookie" Darden of Philadelphia departed this life Monday, May 5, 2003, in her home. She was 55.
Ms. Darden was born May 26, 1947, daughter of the late Mary A. DeShields Darden and William Darden.
She attended schools in Caroline County and graduated from Lockerman High School in the class of 1968.
She was a devoted and loved employee of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County Assis-tance Office for 34 years.
Ms. Darden enjoyed sports, especially basketball and football. She loved to shoot pool. She also loved and devoted to her family. She lived in Philadelphia for 34 years but she enjoyed coming home to be with her family, especially in the last few months of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James "Poole" Magee and Wilmer "Mickey" Magee; a half brother, Milford Darden and two stepsisters, Diane Ricketts and Lynn Bolden.
She is survived a brother, Carlton Maurice Magee of Dover; a sister, Beatrice Craft of Federalsburg, Md.; a stepmother, Jean Bolden of Federalsburg; a nephew and niece she raised as her own, Arthur M. Darden and Kwalla Craft of Cambridge, Md.; a stepsister, Saundra Thomas of Federalsburg; a stepbrother, Walter Bolden of Federalsburg; two aunts, Elloise Savage and Lula Cooper of Lincoln; a very loving and devoted friend, Kenny Jones of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Magee of Federalsburg and Barbara Magee of Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, Robert Jenkins of Federalsburg; a niece-in-law, Fontella Darden; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federals-burg.
Services will be noon Saturday in Zion United Methodist Church, Federalsburg. The Rev. Vanessa Ste-phens Lee will officiate.
Burial will be in Federal Hill Cemetery.

Ashley Marie LeCates, 18
SEAFORD - Ashley Marie LeCates of Blades died Monday, May 5, 2003, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md., of complications of injuries sustained in a traffic accident. She was 18.
Ms. LeCates was born in Seaford, daughter of Richard Melvin LeCates Jr. and Chrlotte Matthews Le-Cates.
She was a graduate of Seaford High School.
Ms. LeCates was a student at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, George-town.She was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Allen LeCates, in 1987.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Kamden Tyler Scott LeCates of the family home; five brothers, Thomas Wayne LeCates, Richard Melvin LeCates III, Dennis Allen Matthews, Christopher Mi-chael Matthews and Steven Andrew Matthews; paternal grandparents, Richard M. LeCates Sr. and Lois Ann LeCates of Laurel; maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Matthews of Blades; maternal grandfather, Na-than Bailey; and a great-grandmother, Rosa Boyd Hitchens Dellinger
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Christ Evangelistic Church, Camp Road, Laurel. The Rev. Roland E. Tice will officiate.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Laurel.

Kathleen Russell Wiltbank Metcalf
LEWES - Kathleen Russell Wiltbank Metcalf of Lewes died Monday, May 5, 2003, in Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Lewes.
Mrs. Metcalf was the daughter of the late Dr. Gilbert Wiltbank and Margaret O'Donnell.
She graduated from Lewes High School and attended Marjorie Webster College in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Metcalf spent most of her life in Virginia, working with her husband, Frank T. Metcalf, in their print shop. After the death of her husband, she worked for the federal government for 15 years as editor of Ma-rine Corps Advertising. She retired in 1984 and moved back to Lewes.
She was a 10th generation descendant of the first permanent Dutch settler in Lewes, Helmanas Wiltbank.
Mrs. Metcalf was a member of Lewes Historical Society and was a docent for them.
In addition to her parents and her husband, who died 1964, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Wiltbank in 1994.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Carol Metcalf of Richmond, Va.; a grandson, Christopher Metcalf of Chicago and a granddaughter, Brooke Metcalf of Atlanta.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Parsell Funeral Homes & Creatorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. Doug Culton will officiate.
Burial will be in the Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Thelma T. North, 74
MACON, Ga. - Thelma T. North of Macon died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in a local hospital. She was 74.
Mrs. North was the daughter of the late Leroy and Fanny Mae Marcus Twilley.
She was a native of Hancock County who moved to Dover, Del. where she retired from Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital as second chef. She returned to Georgia and resided in Macon since 1993.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin North Jr.
She is survived by three daughters, Louise Dickens of Madison and Sarah Tapley and June Marie Con-nell, both of Macon; a sister, Mary Raye of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Janice Dingler of Union Point and Irwin Foy of Macon; and two great-grandchildren, Brandi and Christopher Dingler.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Snows Memorial Chapel.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Old City Cemetery, Greensboro, Ga. The Rev. John McMillan will officiate.

Walter Procko, 81
FELTON - Walter Procko of Felton died, after a lengthy illness, Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Bay-health/Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 81.
Mr. Procko was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Joseph N. and Sophie Feduniak Procko.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a mechanic for the DuPont Co. in Seaford for 33 years, retiring in 1980.
Mr. Procko was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Felton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Todd.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ida Mae (Tribbett) Procko; a daughter, Martha J. Tribbett of Fel-ton; and three sisters, Florence Green of Felton, Clara Polito of Smyrna and Eleanor Hollinger of Magnolia.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.

Junior Lee 'Big Pop' Savage, 56
Washington - Junior Lee "Big Pop" Savage was born May 29, 1948, to Edward and Margaret Savage, who are deceased, along with his two brothers, Johnny Savage and George Savage. Both are deceased.
He was originally born and raised in Millsboro, Del.
He attended school in the Millsboro School District. In later years, he moved to the Washington area, where he passed away on Dec. 18, 2002.
He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Theodore Savage of Georgetown, Del., Hayward Savage of Ellendale, Del., and Robert Savage of Providence, R.I.; five sisters, Anna Mae Bull of Seaford, Del., Elizabeth Showell of Easton, Md., Margaret Cunningham of Takoma Park, Md., Sally Davis of Lakehurst, N.J., and Luvenia S. Bailey of Milford, Del.; two brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Slaughter Neck, Del. The Rev. Dr. George Moody will officiate.
Burial will be private.
