Irvin 'Skip' Miller, 75
HARRINGTON - Irvin "Skip" Miller of Harrington died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in his home. He was 75.
Mr. Miller was born May 31, 1927, in Dover, son of the late Eli Miller and Annie Schrock Miller.
He was a farmer most of his life; also, he and his brother, Ammon, owned and operated Miller Brothers Saw Mill from 1946 until 1996.
Mr. Miller was a Ford man. He also enjoyed fishing, automobile races, boxing, gardening, driving tractors and watching birds. He really enjoyed life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Miller; a grandson, Jason Williams; and a stepson, Delmer Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary A. Workman Miller; a daughter, Beverly Williams of Bridgeville; three sons, Leon Miller and Richard Miller, both of Harrington, and Curt Miller of Denton, Md.; two stepsons, J.R. Freeman and Gary Freeman, both of Milford; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ammon Miller of Greenwood; and two sisters, Effie Yoder of Greenwood and Esther Chaffinch of Harrington.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Greenwood Mennonite Church Cemetery, Greenwood.

Robert J. Preskenis Sr., 73
NORTHPORT, Maine -Robert J. Preskenis Sr. of Northport died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in his home. He was 73.
Mr. Preskenis was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Needham, Mass., son of the late William and Margaret (Keegan) Preskenis.
He lived in West Roxbury, Mass., Dover, Del., and Northport.
Mr. Preskenis graduated from Boston College in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He worked for Walter Baker Chocolate/General Foods for 31 years, retiring as national/international sales manager.
Mr. Preskenis enjoyed traveling, reading, boating and playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Preskenis.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Sennott) Preskenis; six children, Robert J. Preskenis Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., Eileen M. Maguire of Camden, John M. Preskenis of Wilmington, Del., Richard J. Preskenis of Lumberton, N.J., James F. Preskenis of Dover and Mary Gilligan of Amesbury, Mass.; a brother, Donald G. Preskenis; a sister Linda Kellev; and 14 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in the St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, Belfast.

June G. Townsend, 74
REHOBOTH BEACH - June G. Townsend of Rehoboth Beach died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was 74.
Mrs. Townsend was a secretary at Wilmington Trust Co. for several years.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Larrimore Glanding.
She is survied by her husband of 55 years, Wallace P. "Wally" Townsend; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Russell Cooper of Rehoboth Beach; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Pete and Cindy Townsend of Rehoboth Beach and Charlie and Cindy Townsend of Washington, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Kelly Davis, Brandi Townsend, Scottt Townsend, Tyler Townsend, Paige Townsend, Casey Cooper and Colby Cooper; and a great-grandson, Aaron Davis.

Daisy T. 'Pinky' Jones, 89
BROAD NECK, Md. - Daisy T. "Pinky" Jones of Broad Neck, Chestertown, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Magnolia Hall Nursing Home, Chestertown. She was 89.
Ms. Jones was born July 26, 1913, in Broad Neck, daughter of the late Henry D. and Ida Mabel Elburn Jones.
She helped to raise and care for all the Jones family, was an avid reader and loved to embroider.
Ms. Jones was a member of Chestertown Baptist Church, and the church was very important to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry E. and James W. Jones.
She is survived by a sister, Hilda Satterfield of Harrington,, Del.; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Helen Jones of Chestertown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Chestertown Baptist Church, where friends may call an hour earlier.
Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall.

Byron H. 'Barney' Nuttle, 79
DENTON, Md. - Byron H. "Barney" Nuttle of Denton died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in The Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 79.
Mr. Nuttle was born in Andersontown, near Denton, son of the late Harry H. Nuttle and Zora Joslin Nuttle.
He was a graduate of Caroline High School, Denton, and the University of Maryland at College Park.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Nuttle owned and operated Everngam's clothing store, Denton, for many years until his retirement. He also was a real-estate broker, with many farming and development interests and a former director of the People's Bank of Maryland.
He had a great love of harness racing.
Mr. Nuttle was a past president and charter member of the Caroline Country Club, where he was instrumental in the construction of the golf course, and a former member of the board of directors of Easton Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry J. Nuttle.
He is survived by his wife, Mariana E. Nuttle of Denton; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey B. Nuttle of Denton, Charles T. and Joan S. Nuttle of Richmond, Va., and John L. Nuttle of Easton; and a grandson, Ryan A. Nuttle of Richmond.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Concord United Methodist Church, near Denton.
Burial will be private.

Edward Winfield 'Ed' Snow Sr., 82
CLAYTON - Edward Winfield "Ed" Snow Sr. of Clayton died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 82.
Mr. Snow was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Manchester, Conn., son of the late Thomas Chafey Snow and Georgia Lillian Broga Snow.
He was a farmer all of his life, working for Harvey Cole of Middletown.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Snow, in 1997; and a daughter, Annabelle Alexander, in 2001.
He is survived by four sons, Edward W. Snow Jr. of New Castle, Steve R. Snow of Smyrna, Jimmy L. Snow of Hartly and Harvey W. Snow Sr. of Clayton, with whom he lived; five daughters, Mary L. Cole of Dover, Lillian Georgia Alexander of Warwick, Md., Avis Knotts of Kenton, Stella McGinnis of Felton and Katherine Bland of Smyrna; a brother, Sid Wiley of Becket, Mass.; three sisters, Jean Stenico and Mary Rock, both of Chester, Mass., and Abbie Trudell of Westfield, Mass.; a grandson, whom he raised, Harvey W. Snow Jr. of Dover; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Monday in Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Delaney's Church Cemetery, near Blackiston.

Howard E. Andrews, 69
GEORGETOWN - Howard E. Andrews of Georgetown died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in his home. He was 69.
Mr. Andrews was born in Frankford, son of the late William E. and Matilda Lacy Andrews.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Andrews was a truck driver for Townsends Inc. in Millsboro for more than 20 years, retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eunice Broughton Andrews; two sons, Glenn E. Andrews and Gregory A. Andrews of Georgetown; a brother, Joseph Andrews of Georgetown; five sisters, Charlotte Bagby of Philadelphia, Ruth Lewis and Dorothy Sample, both of Baltimore, and Shirley Mackey and Joyce Andrews, both of Millsboro; two grandchildren, Anthony Andrews and Eureka Andrews; two special nephews, Troy Bowden and Tray Bowden; and two special nieces, Jeanetta Broughton and Tina Midgette.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in St. John's Baptist Church, Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, where friends may cal lone hour earlier. The Rev. Annie Jane Custis will officiate.
Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, near Millsboro.

John C. 'Pop Pop' Marroni Sr., 82
MIDDLETOWN - John C. "Pop Pop" Marroni Sr., of Middletown, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. Marroni was a wholesale distributor for LG Potato Chips. After retiring from wholesale distribution in 1994, he spent a portion of his time overseeing home building projects for Marroni Builders Co. of Wilmington.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He loved spending time with his family. His hobbies included woodcrafts, watching sports, fishing, and collecting sports memorabilia.
Mr. Marroni was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3792 in Middletown.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Micky Marroni; a sister, Mary Ross; and a son, Robert Hastings.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ida Marroni; three sons, Richard Hastings and wife, Trudy, of Townsend, Jeff Marroni and wife, Dee, of Olympia, Wash., and John Marroni Jr., of Wilmington; five daughters, Diane Gillispe and her husband, Tommy, of Smyrna, Bobby Wallendorf, of Middletown, Vickie Rausch, of North East, Md., Virginia Monroe and her husband, Brett, of Delaware City, and Hazel Hastings, of Millsboro; a sister, Lena Lightcap, of Wilmington, 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchild-ren; a niece and four nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn.

Thomas J. McCarthy, 81
REHOBOTH BEACH - Thomas J. McCarthy, of Rehoboth Beach, died Monday May 7, 2001, in his home. He was 81.
Mr. McCarthy was born and raised in Superior, Wis., son of the late Professor and Mrs. T.J. McCarthy.
He attended the University of Wisconsin in Superior; sang on the radio in Duluth, Minn., and won the Tri-State Violin Contest in the early 1940s.
Mr. McCarthy served in the 37th Army Infantry during World War II and won the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals while serving in the Pacific Theatre. He went into Japan with Gen. MacArthur as an honor guard.
He returned to Wisconsin in 1946, where he graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and attended Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee.
Mr. McCarthy later worked for the Department of Defense in Washington and directed a private school in Wheaton, Md., for 25 years.
He and his wife retired to Rehoboth Beach in 1989.
Mr. McCarthy was a member of the Rehoboth Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4774; American Legion Post 55; the Wisconsin State Society; the Irish American Club; the Lewes Chapter of Disabled American Veterans; the Knights of Columbus; and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanne Farrell McCarthy, of Rehoboth Beach; a daughter, Mary Aileen O'Donovan and her husband, Patrick, of Washington; and a son, Timothy James McCarthy, of Rehoboth Beach; two grandchildren, Cormac and Ciaran O'Donovan, of Rehoboth Beach; and two sisters, Mary Florence Ensley and Virginia VanSusteren, both of Appleton, Wis.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edmonds Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel streets, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Memorial Service will be 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, in the Fort Myers Chapel at Arlington National Cemetery with burial following.

Charles L. Rebar Jr., 79
SMYRNA - Charles L. Rebar Jr., of Smyrna, died Monday, May 7, 2001, in Westminster Village Health Care Center, Dover. He was 79.
Mr. Rebar was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Douglas, Wyo., son of the late Charles and Margaret Rebar,
He served in the Army Air Force from 1942-45.
He was an accomplished carpenter, having built and refurbished several area homes. He founded and owned Smyrna Hardware from 1955-80.
He served two terms on the Smyrna Town Council from 1964-70, and was co-chairman of Smyrna's Bicentennial Celebration in 1968.
Mr. Rebar was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna, and had formerly served on its board of trustees. He was instrumental in organizing the United Methodist Men's Group. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 14, and the Odd Fellows lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, S. Robert Rebar, in 1963.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna Mae Rebar; a son, Charles L. "Skip" Rebar III and his wife, Judy, of Smyrna; a daughter, Patricia Ellingsworth and her husband, John, of Clayton; four grandchildren, Gregg Rebar, of Darlington, Md., Daron Rebar and his wife, Tracy, of Newark, John Ellingsworth IV, of Clayton; and Susan Ellingsworth, of Whitemarsh, Md.; three sisters, Mary Gessner of Watsontown, Pa., Helen Manning and her husband, Bruce "Cap" Manning, of Milton, Pa., and Dorothy Kennedy, of Smyrna; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 20-24 W. Mount Vernon St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
His family will serve as pallbearers.

Thomas Albert Shelton, 87
MILLSBORO - Thomas Albert Shelton, of Millsboro, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, in his home. He was 87.
Mr. Shelton was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Millsboro, son of the late John Plummer Sr. and Idela Hall Shelton.
He received his early education at the Warwick School.
He was self-employed and also did brick and block masonry work for many years for John Satterfield of Oak Orchard.
Mr. Shelton was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie E. Shelton in 1996.
He is survived by a son, Edward Hopkins, of Philadelphia; two daughters, Shertia S. Mahoney, of Millsboro, and Stephanie H. Shelton, of Rehoboth Beach; a sister-in-law, Mildred Shelton, of Millsboro; two granddaughters, Savannah Collins, of Wilmington, and Joanne Hopkins, of Philadelphia; two grandsons, Mark and John Hopkins, of Philadelphia; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Harmony United Methodist Church, Del. 24, Millsboro, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Rev. Claudia D. Waters will officiate.
Burial will be in Harmony Church cemetery.

Rosalie I. Weiss, 46
WYOMING - Rosalie I. Weiss of Wyoming died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Christiana Hospital of leukemia. She was 46.
Mrs. Weiss was born June 8, 1954, in Milford, daughter of Hilda Louise Buckson, of Argos Corner, and the late Wilson Ingram.
She was a graduate of Milford High School and Delaware Technical & Community College, Georgetown.
Mrs. Weiss was an administrative assistant for the Department of Natural Resources, Dover.
She had an extreme love for cats.
Mrs. Weiss was a member of Delaware State Striders Running Club.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 17 years, John H. Weiss; a brother, Ronnie Messick, of Harrington and a sister, Connie Davis, of Salisbury, Md.
Service will be noon Friday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church Cemetery, Del. 1, Argos Corner.

Wilson G. Barber, 94
DOVER - Wilson G. Barber of Dover, formerly of Smyrna, died Wednesday May 7, 2003, in his home. He was 94.
Mr. Barber was born May 24, 1908 near Smyrna, son of the late George and Emma Stewart Barber.
He farmed most of his life for Woodstock Farms in Chesapeake City, Md.
Mr. Barber enjoyed watching pro wrestling, Western movies and reading the newspaper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Sapp Barber; three daughters, Grace Ann Barber, Beatrice Mae Barber and Marietta Barber Odom; and a great-grandson, Franklin Stubbs II.
He is survived by two sons, George Barber of Wilmington, and Charles D. Barber of Elkton, Md.; a daughter, Dorothy Newhard with whom he lived; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, near Cheswold.

Hazel S. Confair, 67
MAGNOLIA - Hazel S. Confair of Magnolia died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 67.
Mrs. Confair was born Aug. 16, 1935, to the late James Hilton and Mary Kicklinghter Swindell.
She was homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William C. Confair; four sons, James Watson and Ronald Mobley, both of Savannah, Ga., Richard Mobley of Burgaw, N.C., and David Mobley of Ellabell, Ga.; five daughters, Linda Walker, Charlene Patrick and Darlene Barker, all of Pooler, Ga., Wanda McCarty of Macon, Ga., and Lisa Bump of Magnolia; a sister, Nell Navarre of near Chicago; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Diane Crowner Davis, 47
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Diane Crowner Davis of Egg Harbor Township, formerly of Dover, Del., died Thursday, May 1, 2003, in Shore Memorial Hospital, Somerset. She was 47.
Mrs. Davis was born May 24, 1955, daughter of the late Ernest Rudolph and Mary Catherine Crowner.
She was a graduate of Dover High School. She then entered the medical field, which led to her employment as a supply, processing and distribution technician at Kent General Hospital in Dover. In 1984, she moved to New Jersey and continued her career at Atlantic County Medical Center until her health would no longer allow her to do so.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Refuge Church of Christ, Pleasantville, and one who truly loved the Lord, doing whatever she could to glorify the kingdom.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Davis; two daughters, Sharonda Miles and Mary Catherine Miles, both of Smyrna, Del.; a grandson, Admir L. Flores of Smyrna; a goddaughter, Jabria E. Smith of Pleasantville; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Cora and Ted Humphrey of Owings Mills, Md., Beverly Dickerson of Hartly, Del., Connie and Bobby Slater of Columbus, Ohio, and Jacqueline Crowner Doughty and Robert Doughty of Egg Harbor Township; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Ronald and Omar Sudler of Clayton, Del., Lionel and Kathy Crowner of Indianapolis, Benjamin Crowner of Dover, Mark and Pam Crowner of Harrisburg, Pa., Antwon and Clarett Crowner of Fort Worth, Texas, and Marvin Crowner of Baltimore; devoted friends, Elder Sam Jerkins and Mother Jerkins, Vinnie Wicks, Janet and Pam, all of New Jersey; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
