Harlyn E. Reese, 71
WILLMAR, Minn. - Harlyn E. Reese of Willmar, and formerly of Smyrna, Del., died Nov. 19, 2002, in Rice Memorial Hospital. He was 71.
Mr. Reese was born July 2, 1931 in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, Minn., son of the late Horace E. and Alma (Larson) Reese.
He attended District 25 and Willmar High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 during the Korean War.
On Nov. 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Avis Truax in Smyrna, Del. Following their marriage, Harlyn worked as a civil service employee at Dover Air Force Base until his retirement in 1985.
Mr. Reese was a loving husband and father, always being there for his family.
He enjoyed leatherwork and woodworking, making lamps, wall sconces, and display shelving. He was very mechanical and was a good problem solver. One of his past times was doing crossword puzzles. The holidays were always times for the family to celebrate together and over the years their family traveled to Minnesota to be together with their family.
Mr. Reese was a member of the American Legion in Delaware and later in Willmar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Merton and his sisters, Eunice Bengtson and Joyce Himanga.
He is survived by his wife, Avis of Willmar; children, Harlyn E. "Butch" (and Debra) Reese, Jr. and Bonnie L. Reese, both of Dover, Del.; sisters, Harriet Pagel of Burnsville and Alice Jean Asche of Spicer; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Friday, Nov. 22, in Calvary Lutheran Church Chapel in Willmar, Minn. The Rev. Gary Mikkelson officiated.

Louis Dean Rowan, infant
CHESWOLD - Louis Dean Rowan of Cheswold died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, in A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital, Wilmington. He was an infant.
Louis was born Aug. 4, 2002, in Dover, son of Paul L. Rowan and Michelle Lynn Vespa, both of Cheswold.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Dominick James Vespa at home, Paul Louis Bodine-Rowan Jr. and Jordan Wayne Bentley, both of Camden; a sister, Michaela Vespa at home; maternal grandparents, Michael Vespa of Newark and Sharon Vilone of Hartly; and his paternal grandmother, Betty Rowan of Townsend.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

David Milton Sandebeck, 86
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - David Milton Sandebeck of Chestertown died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital. He was 86.
Mr. Sandebeck was born January 12, 1916, in Baltimore, son of the late Stephen David and Margaret Crandall Sandebeck.
At age 10, Mr. Sandebeck worked as a batboy for the Orioles. He later graduated from City College in Baltimore and went to work with Sparrows Point. He worked with Sparrows Point as assistant to the general manager. Mr. Sandebeck was well known and held the responsibility for sea trials on the ships they built and planning the extravagant launching events.
He married Elizabeth Richardson of Fairlee in September 1945.
After his retirement in 1980, Mr. Sandebeck worked with his son as a concessionaire where he created "Uncle Charlie's Lemonade." He worked in this capacity until just last spring.
Mr. Sandebeck enjoyed serving as master of ceremonies for friends, families and organizations. He was a devoted Washington College baseball fan, a past member of Sparrows Point Country Club, a past member of St. John's Methodist Church in Baltimore (where he served as lay speaker), and a member of Fairlee United Methodist Church in Chestertown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 1990.
He is survived by a son, Stephen H. Sandebeck; a grandson, Taylor R. Sandebeck and a granddaughter, M. Lee Sandebeck, all of Chestertown.
Graveside services will be noon Friday in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.

Margaret V. Smith, 71
MILLSBORO - Margaret V. Smith of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, died peacefully of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was 71.
Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Smith; a son, Brian K. Hollis and a granddaughter, Candace R. Hollis.
She is survived by a son, William J. Hollis and his wife, Donna L.; three daughters, Diana H. Givens and husband David B., Jinny E. Ramski and husband Stanley J. and Kim H. Bennett and hisband Ralph L. Bennett, III; a brother John Dyer; a sister, Melvina Hopkins; grandchildren, Keith W. Tull, Paul F. Hartley, Gini L. Ramski, Mindi L. Apiceaal, William J. Hollis Jr., Felicia Czerwinski, Tommy Hollis, Aaron Hollis, Joseph David Bennett and Elizabeth L. Bennett; and four great-grandsons.
Services will be private.

Janice Mae Spicer, 59
LAUREL - Janice Mae Spicer of Laurel died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, in her home. She was 59.
Mrs. Spicer was born in Lewes, daughter of the late Harland and Naomi Henderson.
She was a homemaker.
She was a bus driver for the Laurel School District for 20 years.
Mrs. Spicer took care of the children in the nursery at Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel.
She is survived by two sons, Timmy Lee Spicer and Danny Lee Spicer, both of Laurel; a granddaughter, Heather Leigh Spicer of Laurel; an aunt, Betty Walls of Laurel; two cousins, Debbie Walls of Laurel and James Cody of Seaford; and an uncle, Howard Walls of Salisbury, Md. and Fred Walls of Greenwood, Ind.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Kevin E. English will officiate.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.

Frances M. Hitchens, 84
MILTON - Frances M. Hitchens of Milton died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 84.
Mrs. Hitchens, a lifelong Milton resident, was the daughter of the late Edward and Bessie Donovan Millman.
She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking and had assisted in preparing many church and Lions Club dinners.
Mrs. Hitchens was a 50-year member of the Goshen United Methodist Church in Milton, where she was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She also was a member of the church's United Methodist Women's Association. She was active in the Delaware Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and was a founder of the Milton Senior Citizens group. She also was an election official of the Delaware Election Board for polling places.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Frank W. Hitchens Sr., in 2001; and seven brothers, Howard E. Millman and E. Preston Millman, both of whom had lived in Lewes, and Richard Millman, Harold C. Millman, Roland P. Millman, Fred A. Millman and Henry B. Millman, all of whom had lived in Milton.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Robert Jennings of Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank W. "Bud" Hitchens Jr. and Joda Hitchens of Lewes; Robert C. Jennings Jr. and Gina Jennings, Karyn L. Jennings and Karla L. Jennings, all of Milton, Krista M. Jennings of Indianapolis and Frank W. "Bot" Hitchens III and Elizabeth J. "Beth" Hitchens, both of Lewes; three sisters, Bertha N. Lee and Elizabeth Wilkerson, both of Milford, and Sara J. Tracey of Milton; and four brothers, James M. Millman, Jesse M. Millman and Everett L. Millman, all of Milton, and Robert P. Millman of Milford.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Short Funeral Services, Federal Street, Milton.

Richard Allen McNeill, 51
GEORGETOWN - Richard Allen McNeill of near Georgetown died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, in Millsboro Elementary School, Millsboro, while doing what he thoroughly enjoyed - playing basketball. He was 51.
Mr. McNeill was born Oct. 8, 1951, in Raeford, N.C., son of the late Bertha McNeill.
He was an outstanding high school scholar and athlete, winning a scholarship to attend Methodist College in Fayetteville, N.C. However, he matriculated at Pembroke State University, now known as the University of North Carolina, Pembroke.
Mr. McNeill served four years in the U.S. Army's Military Police Corps in the early 1980s.
He embarked on a career with the Campbell Soup Co., which took him to various parts of the country and eventually moved him and his family to Georgetown. He had been production manager at Vlasic Foods in Millsboro since 1997.
He was a loving father, husband and brother.
Mr. McNeill was a member of the Fenwick Island Baptist Church, Fenwick Island, where he also taught Sunday school.
He is survived by his wife, Teressa Clark McNeill; four children, Lari Allen McNeill of Sacramento, Calif., Autumn Leif McNeill of Smithfield, N.C., and Winter Janvier McNeill and Amber Siobhan McNeill, both of Mount Olive, N.C.; two stepchildren and the wife of one, Robert Gene and B.J. Ciaraldi of Maxton, N.C., and Johnathan Redell Clark of the family home; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas and Rebecca McNeill and Thurman McNeill, all of Raeford, and Calvin McNeill, M.D., of Durham, N.C.; two sisters and a brother-in-law Betty and Eli Britton and Annie Ruth McNeill, all of Raeford; five grandchildren, Michael Richardson, Tyleif Brys R. McNeill, Austin Gene Ciaraldi, Keyshorn Marquis Smith Jr. and Jordan Savanna Ciaraldi; three aunts; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

Judy M. Brown, 60
SEAFORD - Judy M. Brown of Seaford died of cancer Thursday, May 10, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 60.
Mrs. Brown and her husband, Leon, owned and operated Leon Brown Floor Coverings, Seaford, for the past 32 years.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 6 Ladies Auxiliary and was an associate member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4961, both in Seaford.
In addition to her husband of 41 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Valerie Brown of Seaford; two grandchildren, Samantha and Mackenzie Brown; a brother, J.R. Jones of Salisbury, Md.; four sisters, Jeannette Lilley of Immokalee, Fla., June E. Thompson of Pinehurst, N.C., Jackie Tilghman and Janice Morris, both of Salisbury.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at The Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call two hours prior to the ceremony.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

James M. Grace, 81
FREDERICA - James M. Grace of Frederica died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 81.
Mr. Grace was born June 12, 1919, in Kitts Hummock, son of the late George and Rebecca Heller Grace.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Grace was a milk deliveryman for 27 years, working at Frear's, Greenhill, and Koontz Dairies. He also worked for the Caesar Rodney School District for 20 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and grading.
Mr. Grace had life memberships at the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post, Dover, and at the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene, in 1982.
He is survived by a son, M. Eugene Grace of Dover; two daughters, B. Elaine Buffington of Springfield, Ohio, and Emily L. Menden of Frederica; a sister, Georgeanna Moore of Kenton; four grandchildren, Kimberly L. Newhouse and Sandra K. Hodgson, both of Milford, and Jennie Moore and J.R. Buffington, both of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Noah Hodgson of Milford, Emily Buffington and Harley Buffington, both of Springfield.
A remembrance service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony. The Rev. Charlene Evans will officiate.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Kathleen C. Harper, 73
SEAFORD - Kathleen C. Harper of Seaford died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, after suffering a heart attack. She was 73.
Mrs. Harper retired in 1995 from J.A. Montgomery Insurance Co., Seaford, where she worked for 25 years.
She was an avid Little League and high school baseball fan in Seaford and very seldom missed a game.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Harper, in 1989.
She is survived by four daughters, Cheryl H. Bennett of Durham, N.C., Brenda Adams, Debbie Quillen and Jamie H. Sizemore, all of Seaford; a brother, William Collins of Rhodesdale, Md.; two sisters, Elizabeth Liddicoat of Wilmington, N.C., and Lucille H. Collins of Hebron, Md.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Friends may call from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford.

George Moses Sisco, 65
ROCK HALL, Md. - George Moses Sisco of Rock Hall died Friday, May 4, 2001, in Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 65.
Mr. Sisco was born in Rock Hall, son of the late Moses and Virginia Sisco.
He attended the public schools of Kent County, Md.
Before his retirement, he was employed in Delaware as a construction worker.
He attended Aaron United Methodist Church, Rock Hall, where he sang with The Inspirational Men of Aaron.
Mr. Sisco was a member of Local Labor Union 199.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Sisco of Rock Hall; three children, Monica Sisco, Sheldon Sisco and Myron Sisco, all of Chestertown; a stepson, Wilbur Wilson of Georgetown, Del.; a brother, Marvin Sisco of Rock Hall; a sister, Yvonne Sisco Burdon of Vista, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. today at Aaron United Methodist Church, Rock Hall.

MILLSBORO - Catherine M. Soil of Millsboro died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in her home. She was 57.
Ms. Soil was born in Millsboro, daughter of the late Donald Hitchens Sr. and Isabelle Johnson Hitchens.
She attended the Friendship United Methodist Church, near Millsboro.
She is survived by a son, Distefano Hitchens of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, Donald Hitchens Jr. of Millsboro and Leroy Hitchens and his wife, Shannon; three sisters, Betty Peacock and her husband, Frank, Jennie Hargett and her husband, Walter, and Corrine Sammons, all of Millsboro; and two special friends, Evelyn Hopkins and Helen Bull of Millsboro.

Terance Dion Tull, 16
LAUREL - Terance Dion Tull of Laurel died Thursday, May 3, 2001, on Cherry Hill Beach, Sharptown, Md., as a result of drowning. He was 16.
Terance will born in Seaford, son of Cedric Johnson and Sharon Ann Tull, both of Laurel.
He was a student at Laurel High School where he played on the football team, the Bull Dogs.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Takiea Tull of Laurel, Tamara Tull of Havelock, N.C., and Jelissa Tiggs of Milton; paternal grandparents, Irma and Willie L. Dasher of Laurel; maternal grandmother, Frances Tull of Millsboro; paternal great-grandmother, Irene Horsey of Laurel; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Deliverance Bible Center, 532 W. Seventh St., Laurel. The Rev. Wilford Oney will officiate.
Burial will be in the St. John Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Millsboro.

Mary LaVelle Wheatley, 76
DAGSBORO - Mary LaVelle Wheatley of Dagsboro died Friday, May 4, 2001, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. She was 76.
Mrs. Wheatley was born in Joliet, Ill., daughter of the late James M. and Helen McNearny Carden.
She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and building miniature dollhouses.
Mrs. Wheatley was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bethany Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth B. Wheatley Jr.; a daughter, Valerie M. Willman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Daniel B. Wheatley of Kent Island, Md.; and three grandchildren, Megan Willman, Marylin Wheatley and Patrick Wheatley.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. May 17 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Del. 26, Bethany Beach.
Burial will be private.

John Edward Block, 51
HARRINGTON - John Edward Block of Harrington died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 51.
Mr. Block was born Jan. 24, 1952, in Wilmington, son of the late Edward and Charlotte Laurens Block.
He was employed at separate times as a car salesman for Price Honda and C.F. Schwartz, both located in Dover. He worked lastly for InterNetworking Technologies in Milford before his disability two years ago.
He was a ham radio operator and a member of the Kent County Radio Club.
Mr. Block was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Harrington.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Margaret James Block; a daughter, Mary Margaret Block at home; and a sister, Emma L. Calhoun of Bridgeville.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 190 Raughley Hill Road, Harrington, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

MILLSBORO - Sunday Capretti of Millsboro, formerly of Hyattsville, Md., died Saturday, May 10, 2003, in his home. He was 86.
Mr. Capretti was born in Washington, D.C., son of the late Guestino and Leonich Capretti.
He was an operating engineer for the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., retiring in 1980 after 17 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Marie Reid.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Shields Capretti; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald J. and Sue Capretti of Lanham, Md.; and two grandsons, Justin Capretti and Gregory Reid and his fiancée, Beverly Drumn.
Services will be private.
