Louise Perkins, 74
LEWES - Louise Perkins of Lewes died of heart failure Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in Genesis Care, Seaford. She was 74.
Ms. Perkins was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Baker County, Fla.
She was a factory worker at King Cole.
She is survived by four sons, Ralph Perkins and Paul Perkins, both of Sanderson, Fla., Elton Perkins of Seaford and Joseph Owens of Milton; three daughters, Willie Jean Harris of Delray, Fla., Margie Perkins of Sanderson and Luvice Owens of Lewes; four sisters, Ruth Newman of Valasta, Ga., Bessie Givens, Paulette Davis and Elizabeth Page, all of Sanderson; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Monday in Young's Funeral Home, 309 North St., Milford.
Burial will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.
Albert N. Ridgeway Sr., 58
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Albert N. Ridgeway Sr. of Augusta, formerly of Dover, Del., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in University Health Care System, Augusta. He was 58.
Mr. Ridgeway was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Dover, son of the late Raymond Ridgeway Sr. and Georgianna Mosley.
He lived in the Dover area from birth until 1982, when he moved around before settling in Augusta.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Ridgeway retired in 1993 as a laborer in the construction industry.
He is survived by a special friend, Mary Calloway of Augusta; a son, Albert N. Ridgeway Jr. of Dover; two daughters, Sherry Wilson and Brandy Ridgeway, both of Dover; two brothers, Raymond "Jimmy Flicker" Ridgeway Sr. of Trenton, N.J., and Greensbury "Greenie" Ridgeway of Dover; three sisters, Sadie Mae Carney, Sarah "Ginger" Durham and Beatrice "Beatie" Seeney, all of Dover; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Immanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold.
Roark F. 'Pat' Patterson, 73
WILMINGTON - Roark F. "Pat" Patterson of Wilmington died after a long illness Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002. He was 73.
Mr. Patterson worked as a pressman for the News Journal, retiring in 1989.
He was an active member of Local 322 Pressmen's Union and belonged to the Odd Fellows Eden Lodge in Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Patterson on May 14, 1991 and his parents, Meinard J. and Helen Roark Patterson and a granddaughter.
He is survived by two sons, Ralph P. Patterson of Wilmington and Ronald E. Patterson Sr. and his wife, Sharon A. Patterson of Newark; a brother, Neil Patterson of Morrison, Ill.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine P. and R. Wesley Fuller of Wilmington, Carol and Thomas H. Smith of Linwood, N.J., and Judith and William K. Cahall of Dover; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where Odd Fellows services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be 11:45 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, North Dupont Highway, New Castle, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

Warren G.H. Pritchett Jr., 55
DOVER - Warren G.H. Pritchett Jr. of Dover died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 55.
Mr. Pritchett was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Dover, son of Warren G.H. Pritchett Sr. and Louise Seeney Pritchett of Dover.
He worked for Reichhold Chemical for almost 30 years in the maintenance department.
He enjoyed going to horse shows and drag races, building cars, attending western movies and spending time with his family and friends. He loved all kinds of animals, raising chickens, pit bulls and emus.
Mr. Pritchett attended Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold and was a member of the Quarter Horse Association of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Pritchett of Dover; a son and daughter-in-law, Warren G.H. Pritchett III and Beth Pritchett of Clayton; a daughter and son-in-law, Abby and Ken Reichardt of Dover; three brothers, Ronald Pritchett, Bruce Pritchett and Gordon Pritchett, all of Dover; three sisters, Janice Carney of Harrington, Sharee Pritchett of Woodside and Nina Lauer of Dover; Judy Wortham, whom he considered a daughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to noon Monday in the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, U.S. 13 and Del. 42, Cheswold.

Rose Virginia Sparks, 85
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Rose Virginia Sparks of Chestertown died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, in Harbour Home Assisted Living Center, Chestertown. She was 85.
Mrs. Sparks was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Kent County, she was the eldest of four children of the late J. Edgar Sr. and Hester Jane Strong.
She attended the Union Memorial School of Nursing in Baltimore, graduating with the class of 1937.
During her professional career she practiced public health nursing in Queen Anne and Kent counties and worked in the maternity ward at Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown, where she was able to assist in delivering six of her seven grandchildren.
Upon her retirement from nursing, she immensely enjoyed hostessing at her brother Joe's restaurant, The Old Wharf Inn and later helping to care for infants at her daughter's day care, Miss Ann's Day Care.
Mrs. Sparks was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She also attended Wesley Chapel Church, Rock Hall United Methodist Church, Salem United Methodist Church, Fairlee, and St. James United Methodist Church in Worton.
Mrs. Sparks loved to dance throughout her life. In her youth she enjoyed horseback riding on East Neck Island, attending local baseball games, and sailing with her brothers. In her later years, she enjoyed the fellowship of the Busy Bee's Senior Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1938, Frank O. Sutton Sr., who passed in 1949; and a brother, James Edgar Strong Jr.
She is survived by three children, Ann V. Price of Chestertown, The Rev. Frank O. Sutton Jr. of Wyoming, Del., and Margery A. Frybarger of Rock Hall; twin brothers, Joseph W. Strong Sr. and Robert H. Strong Sr.; seven grandchildren, John F. Price IV, James T. Price, Joseph A. Price, Rosann L. Elgin, Sandra L. Chance, Frank O. Sutton III, and Robert C. Tawoda; 15 great-grandchildren, Brittani Spry, James Price, Josh Price, Travis Spry, Jenny Price, Josh Chance, Michael Price, Hayden Chance, Sarah Elgin, Taylor Sutton, Nick Price, Susie Price, Buddy Elgin, Peyton Chance, and Lindsey Jane Elgin.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Chestertown.

Sara S. Hammond Zartman, 78
DOVER - Sara S. Hammond Zartman of Dover died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, in Milford Center.
Mrs. Zartman was born in Milford, daughter of the late Edwin F. and Amanda J. (Callaway) Short.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Zartman was a graduate of Milford Hill School class of 1942 and a member of the Church of God, Milford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Hammond Sr. in 1981 and her second husband, Paul Zartman in May 2001.
She is survived by two sons, David Hammond of Lincoln and George Hammond Jr. of Florida; two daughters, June Mitchell Hall and her husband, Gary and Elizabeth Wilson, both of Milford; a sister, Elizabeth Donovan of Milford; a brother, Sam Short of Milford; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
John Robinson Conley, 90
SEAFORD - John Robinson Conley of Seaford died of heart failure Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 90.
Mr. Conley was born in Sharptown, Md., son of the late of Alonza and Ella May Covington Conley.
He was a supervisor in the power house at the DuPont Co., Seaford, retiring in 1969 after 30 years of service.
Mr. Conley was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Seaford, a member of Hiram Lodge 21 AF&AM, Seaford, and a volunteer at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Conley.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jessie Findlay Conley; a son, Tim F. Conley of Georgetown; a daughter, Gay C. Moore of Seaford; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury, Md. The Rev. David B. Humphrey will officiate.

Harry William Minner Sr., 82
HARRINGTON - Harry William Minner Sr. of Harrington died Friday, May 11, 2001, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. Minner was a farmer in his early years and later worked for Hi-Grade Dairy in Harrington, where he retired.
His favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting; he collecting many deer head trophies. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Mr. Minner was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Harrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Davidson Minner; and Louise Larimore Minner.
He is survived by his loving wife, M. Louise Minner of Harrington; a son and daughter-in-law, Harry W. and Debbie Minner Jr. of Harrington; five daughters, Sandra Baker of Houston, Wanda Gerardi, and her husband, Eugene, and Brenda Bonniwell, and her husband, Calvin, all of Harrington, Linda McClosky, and her husband, John, of Felton and Debra Hopkins, and her husband, Brad, of Bear; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Grace Minner of Harrington; a sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Herb Rothermel of Harrington; a sister-in-law, Kaye Minner of Harrington; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington.

Caroline C. Minot, 77
COLUMBUS, N.J. - Caroline C. Minot of Columbus died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Green Meadows Nursing Home, Dover. She was 77.
Ms. Minot was born March 18, 1924, in the Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Samuel Rosenthal and Bertha (Horn) Rosenthal.
She was a bookkeeper for Belmont Brothers Manufacturing, Brooklyn, N.Y., for 12 years, retiring in 1960.
In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by her second husband, Charles John Minot; her first husband, Fred J. Sussman, in 1984; a son, Bert S. Sussman, in 1990; and five grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Stanley M. Sussman of Dover and Joel C. Sussman of New Jersey; and a sister, Leonore Grossman of Boca Raton, Fla.
Service and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Alma F. Moeller, 74
HARTY - Alma F. Moeller of Hartly died of respiratory failure Thursday, May 10, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Milford. She was 74.
Mrs. Moeller was born March 26, 1927, in Freeburn, Ky., daughter of the late Frank and Jossie (Stevens) Daniels.
She came to Delaware during World War II at age 14 to work in a gunpowder factory in Elkton, Md. She worked her whole life until 2000, with her last place of employment being the Hartly Market.
Her family was the main joy in her life and she loved having them all visit her. When she visited she always brought her famous potato salad.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Buddy Daniels.
She is survived by three sons, Kermit, and his wife, Susan Bentley, of Frederica, Clarence David, and his wife, Mary Lou Bentley, of Hartly, and Johnny Lee Moeller of Hartly; three daughters, Ganella Fedewa and Gloria Gene Bentley of Hartly, and Heaven Leigh, and her friend, Will Allen, of Leipsic; three brothers, Franklin D. Daniels of Hartly, Frank Daniels Jr. of Woodside and John G. Daniels of Felton; five sisters, Phyllis Daniels of Lewes, Helen Devlin of Viola, Ellen Glandon of Willow Grove, Ersie Reynolds and Ruth McClain, both of Dover; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Remembrance service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. James Ashley will officiate.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Joseph R. Pedrick, 88
MILLSBORO - Joseph R. Pedrick of Millsboro died Thursday, May 10, 2001, in Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home, Millsboro. He was 88.
Mr. Pedrick was born in Upland, Pa., son the late Joseph L. and Kathryn Ferguson Pedrick.
He retired in 1971 from Sun Oil Co., Marcus Hook, Pa., as a gas tester after 42 years of service.
Mr. Pedrick moved to Delaware from Brookhaven, Pa., four years ago.
He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid horse racing fan and a loving father and grandfather.
Mr. Pedrick was a member of Upland Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Borrell Pedrick, in 1982; two sons, Ronald Pedrick in 1987 and Roger Pedrick in 1979; a daughter, Sally Snow in 1995; and two brothers, Charles and Harry Pedrick.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and William Kandravi of Millsboro, Joy Lynn and Tal Keenan of Carmel, Ind., and Gail and Edward Pristash of Claymont; two sisters, Sarah Chaplin of Alaska and Emma Cullum of Brookhaven; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Henrietta Pettyjohn, 54
LINCOLN - Henrietta Pettyjohn of Lincoln died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in her home with her family. She was 54.
Mrs. Pettyjohn was born April 7, 1947, in Slaughter Neck, daughter of the late Harvey and Edith Hazzard, and the ninth of 14 children.
She completed her formal education at William C. Jason High School in Georgetown.
For many years she was employed with Conagra and Sea Watch Inc. in Milford.
She is survived by her husband John D. Pettyjohn of Milford; a son, Vincent E. Hazzard of Felton; three daughters, Mary E. Pettyjohn of Wilmington, Teresa A. Pettyjohn of Slaughter Neck and Allison E. Pettyjohn of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Diane Hazzard of Felton; four grandchildren, Larry, Jermaine, T'Keyah and Kendra; two godchildren, Vaughn and Lamont Hazzard; two brothers, Solomon Hazzard of Slaughter Neck and Oliver Hazzard of Greenwood; four sisters, Mary Jefferson, Catherine Hazzard and Hattie Young, all of Slaughter Neck, and Daisy Hughes of Frederica; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wesley Chapel Church, Slaughter Neck, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. George B. Moody will officiate. Elder Malissa Dukes will bring the eulogy.
Burial will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.

Wanda M. Schultz, 76
SELBYVILLE - Wanda M. Schultz of Selbyville died Thursday, May 10, 2001, in her home. She was 76.
Ms. Schultz was born in Los Angeles, daughter of the late Oscar Schultz and Wanda Autler.
She was a retired school teacher and librarian.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Robert Schultz, in 1995.
She is survived by a sister, Beverly Langford of West Covina, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Ocean City, Md., where friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, Calif.

Donald B. VanEtten, 76
MILLSBORO - Donald B. VanEtten of Millsboro died Thursday, May 10, 2001, in his home. He was 76.
Mr. VanEtten was employed as a manager with Eckerd Drug in Milford and later with Edgehill Pharmacy in Georgetown, where he was in charge of ordering their pharmaceutical supplies. He retired in 1998.
He attended Wesleyan Church of Millsboro.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alberta VanEtten; a daughter, Linda VanEtten of Lakeview, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sunday, May 20, at Wesleyan Church of Millsboro, 255 Wilson Highway.
Burial will be private.

Margaret 'Rita' Eileen Taylor, 65
CAMDEN - Margaret "Rita" Eileen Taylor of Camden lost her 13-year battle with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC) Friday, May 9, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 65.
Mrs. Taylor was born Jan. 26, 1938, to Kathleen Brophy Parkinson of Roskelton, Ireland and the late Joseph Parkinson. She was raised in Southend-on-Sea, England.
She married Rick Taylor on Aug. 19, 1961. She followed him throughout his Air Force career to bases in Texas, Japan, Louisiana, California, England and Delaware.
She worked many jobs, including at WKEN Radio and at the Social Security Administration in Dover from 1979 until her retirement in November 1995.
Mrs. Taylor enjoyed reading, traveling, eating dessert and spending time with her family, close friends and her dog, China.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Kiah Taylor.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rick, of Camden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Marc Alei of Sacramento, Calif. and Donna and Frank Magana of Layton, Utah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Jeanne Taylor of Laurel and Kiah and Charlene Taylor of Dover; a sister, Mary Phelan; four brothers, Patrick, Martin, Edward and John Parkinson, all of County Laois, Ireland; six grandchildren, Jayson and Bryan Magana, Heather, Richard and Andrew Taylor and Ashley Graham; and a lifelong friend and companion, Nell Banks.
Memorial services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Anna Marie H. Cacy, 83
BALTIMORE - Anna Marie H. Cacy of Baltimore died Saturday, May 10, 2003, in her home. She was 83.
Ms. Cacy was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Sudlersville, daughter of the late Francis and Bertha Showacre Cacy.
She worked as a detail clerk for Aberdeen Proving Ground from 1942 to 1955, and for C&P Telephone in the customer assistance department, retiring in the 1980s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Stevens and Elizabeth Sutton.
She is survived by a niece, Anita Williams of Betteron, and a nephew, Robert Sutton of Stewartstown, Pa.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Still Pond Cemetery, Still Pond.
