Ethel M. Solloway, 95
DOVER - Ethel M. Solloway of Dover died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in the home of her granddaughter. She was 95.
Mrs. Solloway was born June 22, 1907, in Smyrna, daughter of the late John and Theresa Mosuly Oroz.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Solloway Sr., in 1974; a son, Benjamin F. Solloway Jr.; a daughter, Mary S. Truitt; and a brother, John Oroz.
She is survived by three sisters, Theresa Downes of New Castle, Anna Nigilo and Mary Ciociola, both of Wilmington; a caring granddaughter and her husband, whom she was staying with, Terri and Clarence Collins; a great-grandson and his wife, Michael and Kristen Pleasanton; two great-great-grandchildren, Alyne Mary Pleasanton and Sydney Michelle Pleasanton; a son-in-law, James Truitt of Smyrna; a sister-in-law, Helen Groves of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Odd Fellows Cemetery, DuPont Highway, Smyrna.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904.

Alexander H. Vogl, 94
HARRINGTON - Alexander H. Vogl of Harrington died in his sleep Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in Haven House, Denton, Md. He was 94.
Mr. Vogl was born Harrington, son of the late John A. Vogl and Wilhelmine Trager Vogl.
He was a lifelong farmer. He farmed for about five years on the Marteen Farm in White Plains, N.Y., from 1936 to 1941 at which time he returned to the family farm in Delaware.
His hobbies included rabbit hunting and basket making. Mr. Vogl could be seen for many years at the Harrington Heritage Day sharing his craft of basket making with the community.
Mr. Vogl was a member and one of the builders of St. Bernadettes Catholic Church in Harrington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters, Otto, Ernest, Wilhelmine ("Minnie"), Elsie, Fredia, Felix, Oswald, Alphonzo, and Levi ("Lee").
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bernadette Church, Harrington, where friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

John Franklin Warfield, 68
HARRINGTON - John Franklin Warfield of Harrington died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, near Miami. He was 68.
Mr. Warfield was born April 18, 1934, in Elizabethville, Pa., son of the late Franklin Dallas Warfield and Meda C. Bohner Warfield.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years.
After his military retirement, he worked for Wharton & Barnard for 20 years.
Mr. Warfield was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2, where he was a past president, and the Korean War Veterans Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor V. Young, in 1990.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; William H. and Marge Skowran of Milton, John and Sarah Warfield of New Castle, Richard and Rosemary Warfield of Hartly, and Jeff and Regina Warfield of Kannapolis, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce M. and Robert Zimmer of Exton, Pa.; a brother and sister-in-law, Roho Lowell and Doris Warfield of Carlisle, Pa.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Grace Elveta and Carl Clouser of Halifax, Pa.; four grandchildren, Kathleen Simmons, Cheryl Seiter, Jason Warfield, and Paul Warfield, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial with full Military Honors will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Dorothy Moore Willey, 89
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Dorothy Moore Willey of Federalsburg died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in the Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Denton, surrounded by her family. She was 89.
Mrs. Willey was born May 26, 1913, in Bethlehem, daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Sarah E. Warner Moore.
Her family moved to Federalsburg, where she graduated from Federalsburg High School.
She was a homemaker and helped with the family business R&W Grocery Market until her retirement.
Mrs. Willey was a member of the Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman "Bill" Willey, on Feb. 20, 2002; two brothers, John Moore and James B. Moore; and three sisters, Roselean Jester, Bertha Zahniser and Marion Leeser.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Norma Lee and Charles Ruf of Federalsburg and Linda Hall of Newark, Del.; a brother, Franklin A. Moore of Laurel, Del.; five grandchildren, Debra Cannon, Craig Ruf, Shari Bucci, Michelle Colantonio, and Michael Hall; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Williamson Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Federalsburg, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. David Heistand will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Craig Ruf, Michael Hall, Wallace Cannon, Robert Colantonio, Tyler Cannon, Vincent Bucci and Brad Cannon.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg.

John Earl Wesley Jr., 87
LEWES - John Earl Wesley Jr. of Lewes died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in his home. He was 87.
Mr. Wesley was born May 19, 1915, in Wilmington, son of the late John and Rose Swartz-Richard Wesley.
He and his wife, the late Barbara E. Wesley, founded Wesley's Restaurant in Fair Hill, Md. in 1951. They owned and operated the restaurant until his retirement in 1976, when he then became a licensed captain and chartered groups out in his boat "The Four Sons" docked in Lewes. He retired from charter fishing in the late 1990s. Then he continued to boat for pleasure in Lewes and Marathon, Fla.
Mr. Wesley had been an avid golfer, and had obtained awards for attaining a "hole in one" at three different courses.
Mr. Wesley had been a member of numerous golf courses in Delaware and Florida.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Wesley, on Nov. 14, 1980; and a grandson, John (Jackie) Wesley, IV, on Dec. 18, 1975.
He is survived by his companion of several years, Constance Mellinger of Lewes; three sons, John Wesley III and his wife, Sandy, of Fair Hill, Md., Jeffrey A. Wesley of Fair Hill, and Kendall T. Wesley and his companion, Karen R. Corcoran, of North East, Md.; a granddaughter, Nicole Wesley of Bel Air, Md.; a grandson, Richard L. Wesley and wife Jennifer of Fair Hill, Md.; and two great-granddaughters, Devon and Paige Wesley of Fair Hill, Md.
Remembrance services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Groome United Methodist Church, Savannah Road and Dewey Avenue, Lewes.

Joan Winterburn, 71
FENWICK ISLAND - Joan Winterburn of Fenwick Island, formerly of Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, in her home. She was 71.
Mrs. Winterburn was born in Vineland, N.J.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John; two daughters, Elyse DeVault and JoAnn Wolber; two stepsons, John and Bob Winterburn; a sister, Viola Milano; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be private.

Helen B. Aden, 85
DENTON, Md. - Helen B. Aden of Denton died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, in the Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was 85.
Mrs. Aden was born in Lewes, daughter of the late Thomas Rhodes Burton and Addie Elizabeth Hazzard Burton. She had moved to Denton from Seaford in 1950.
She was a homemaker. She also worked with her husband in the family business, Aden Rug Cleaners, in Denton.
Mrs. Aden had been in the Christ Episcopal Church Choir and had actively volunteered with Scouts and 4-H.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Aden, on March 31, 1999.
She is survived by a son, Thomas J. Aden of Denton; two daughters, Jane A. Williams of Easton and Jean A. Good of Denton; a granddaughter, Deborah Jean Williams and her husband, Bryan, of Medina, Ohio; three grandsons, Edward Larry Williams Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C., Eric K. Good and his wife, Eileen, and Justin T. Good, all of Denton; and three great-grandchildren, Trey Williams III, Zoe Williams and Jackson Good.
Memorial services will be private.

William A. Jones, 73
LITTLE CREEK - William A. Jones of Little Creek died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in the Westminster Village Health Center, Dover. He was 73.
Mr. Jones was born May 16, 1928, in Philadelphia, son of the late Allin and Elizabeth (Lake) Jones,
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Mr. Jones was a graduate of Defiance College in Ohio.
He was a chemist who worked for ILC and numerous other companies.
He loved to hunt, fish and visit his cabin in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Jones was a member of Dover Nazarene Church. He was a Gideon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen A. (Moore) Rash Jones, on Feb. 4, 2001.
He is survived by, two sons, William Jones and Bobby Jones of Pennsylvania; three stepsons, George R. Rash Jr., and his wife, Janet, of Wyoming, Phillip W. Rash Sr., and his wife, Jeannie, of Magnolia, and Ronald M. Rash, and his wife, Valerie, of Dover; a daughter, Leigh Ann Rogers of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, James Downes, Joshua and Jacob Jacolucci, Jenna and Daniel Rogers, all of Pennsylvania; seven step-grandchildren, Kevin Rash of Dover, Shannon Ruba of Wilmington, Heather Falise of Kenton, Jenny Mead of Dover, Kim Rash of Camden, Phillip Rash Jr. of Magnolia and Christina Carson of Dover; and five great-grandchildren.

Rose Lillian Sandom Joseph, 86
SEAFORD - Rose Lillian Sandom Joseph of Seaford died of congestive heart failure Saturday, May 12, 2001, in Seaford Center Genesis Elder Care, Seaford. She was 86.
Mrs. Joseph was born in Milford, daughter of the late John and Ethel Donovan Sandom.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Joseph was a devoted member of the Church of God in Bridgeville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Henry Joseph, in 1973; and two granddaughters, Billie Dea Beck and Cheryl Christy Joseph.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and William "Ducky" Waller of Seaford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Shirley Joseph of Ellendale and Jimmie and Carolyn Joseph of Concord; eight grandchildren, Bill Waller of Silver Spring, Md., Bonnie W. Thomas of Newark, Kathy Clendaniel, Ben Holloway, and Rosemary Joseph, all of Ellendale, Gladys Geyer of Milford, Marcie Smith of Millsboro and Laurie Joseph of Concord; 13 great-grandchildren, Amber Waller, Lauren Thomas, Michael Thomas, Mandy Holloway, Michael Holloway, Monica Holloway, Mindy Holloway, Benny Holloway II. Andrew Geyer, Myles Geyer, Zeph Geyer, Jarred Geyer and Justin Smith and two great-great-grandchildren, Briona Dea Casselbury Holloway and Mikayla Suzanne Collison.

Marcia Ann Meixell, 84
DOVER - Marcia Ann Meixell of Dover died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 84.
She is survived by a son, Michael McKewen of Kenneth City, Fla.; a daughter, Terri Burns of Herdon, Va., four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Faries Funeral Home, 1250 S. Governors Ave., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.
Keith Alan Pepper, 42
GEORGETOWN - Keith Alan Pepper of Georgetown died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was 42.
Mr. Pepper was a painter for Zonko Builders for 22 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Pepper.
He is survived by his companion, Sheila Esham of Georgetown; his mother, Shirley Rogers Pepper of Georgetown; a daughter, Shana R. Pepper of Dover; a granddaughter, Kirsten Thibeault of Dover; paternal grandmother, Pauline Pepper of Georgetown; a maternal grandmother, Sally Rogers of Georgetown; two brothers, Robert J. Pepper and Darryl N. Pepper of Georgetown; a sister, Colleen L. Pepper of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Rose Mae Singletary, 76
HARRINGTON - Rose Mae Singletary of Harrington died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 76.
Mrs. Singletary was born Feb. 12, 1925, in South Mills, N.C., daughter of late Joe Tom and Kasann Riddick.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included sewing, and she loved to sing for the Lord. Two of her favorite solos were "Hold To God's Unchanging Hands" and "Don't Take Everybody to be Your Friend." She showed a great concern for her church and family.
Mrs. Singletary was a member of First Love Church in Dover, where she served on the mothers' board for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernadine Singletary; and two sisters, Seney Riddick and Gladys Riddick.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years„ Jessie Singletary Sr. of Harrington; five sons, Joe and Jessie Singletary Jr. of Dover, Avery and Jerry Singletary of Harrington and Nelson Singletary of Frederica; six daughters, Gloria Sease of Lakewood, N.J., Diane Singletary, Jewelray Pierce and Willieann Stanley of Harrington, Nelfine Hodge and Twistanne Hollaman of Dover; five daughters-in-law, Diane, Patricia, Jeannette, Santea and Vonda Singletary; four sons-in-law, Darnell Hollaman, James Stanley, Dennis Pierce and Nathan Hodge; five sisters, Beatrice Butler of Ellendale, Joanna Mullens, and her husband, Herbert, Christine Haynes, and her husband, James, of Lincoln, Odessa Firby of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Lucille White, and her husband, Walter, of Milford; two brothers, Johnnie Riddick of Ellendale and Milton Riddick of Harrington. 41 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a host of uncles, aunts and cousins; and her devoted friend, Mamie, of Harrington.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Love Church, 181 Palmer Road, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Siloam Cemetery in Slaughter Neck.

Marguerite Ujvarosy, 87
MILFORD - Marguerite Ujvarosy of Milford died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Milford Center, Milford. She was 87.
Mrs. Ujvarosy was a homemaker and helped her late husband with his tailor business.
She was a member of the Milford Senior Center, the AARP and found great pleasure in gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Ujvarosy Jr., in 1989.
She is survived by a son, Jan B. Ujvarosy of Milford; a daughter-in-law, Janice T. Ujvarosy of Milford; a brother, Ernest Bennett Jr., and his wife, Marie, of Milford, and a grandson, Jonathan Ujvarosy of Newark.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Walters, 88
GALENA, Md. - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Walters of Galena, formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in University Hospital, Baltimore. She was 88.
Mrs. Walters was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Baltimore, daughter of the late Lawrence and Catherine Ropka Dietz.
For 25 years she worked as an office manager for Dr. Palese, retiring in 1976.
She enjoyed playing cards and traveling.
Mrs. Walters was a member of St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church, associate member of Olivet United Methodist Church and was active with the Galena Busy Bees, Galena Lions Club and Hospice of Kent County, Md.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years, Francis J. Smith, in 1971; and four siblings, Sr. Mary Clarissima O.S.F., Caroline Thomas, Lawrence and Paul Dietz.
She is survived by her second husband of 10 years, Addie H. Walters; five children, Mary E. Sauter and Angela M. Smith of Berlin, Jane F. Jansen of Lanham, Sister Mary Catherine (Camilla) of Philadelphia and Lawrence G. Smith, and his wife, Susan, of St. Louis, Mo.; three stepchildren, Doug Walters and Ellen Walters of Galena and Don Walters of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L, Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Galena.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Baltimore.

Patrick 'Sean' Doremus, 40
CLAYTON - Patrick "Sean" Doremus of Clayton died Monday, May 12, 2003, in his home. He was 40.
Mr. Doremus was born Aug. 31, 1962 in Nassawadox, Va., son of the late Howard 'Toby' Doremus and Jan Peppler Doremus.
He worked in the parts department of Clements Supply Company and Delmar Ford Tractor and later worked for Earl's Mini Mart.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to the races.
Mr. Doremus was a former member of the Clayton Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, Sandria Hartnett Doremus; a son, Michael A. Hartnett, at home; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Stephanie and John Johnson, with whom he lived, and Kelly W. Spence of Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, Erik and Marianne Doremus of Salisbury, Md.; nephews, Jeff Johnson and his wife Marcia; Michael H. Johnson and Sarah Jarrell, Ryan and Toby Doremus and Lee Spence; great nephews, Jeff and Joshua Johnson; a great niece, Marissa Johnson; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend, Eirline Berghorn.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Albert W. Gaull, 86
LONG NECK - Albert W. Gaull of Long Neck, formerly of Glenolden, Pa. died of heart failure Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 86.
Mr. Gaull was a retired construction engineer with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542 in Easton Pennsylvania and Delaware.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea Bees in the U.S. Navy and was past commander and service officer of American Legion Post 566 of Glenolden and a member of American Legion Post 28 of Riverdale/Oak Orchard in Delaware, AARP of Delaware, Amvets of Delaware and the Indian River Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife, Rita A. Gaull; a daughter, Marlene Kemble; four sons, Albert Diamond, Carl Diamond and Frank and Tom Gaull; a stepdaughter, Theresa Kokoszka; three stepsons, Francis, Anthony and Michael Kokoszak; two brothers, George and Tim Gaull; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services.
Funeral services with military honors and burial will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa.
