Joseph T. Datte, 77
OCEAN VIEW - Joseph T. Datte of Ocean View, formerly of Wilmington, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in his home. He was 77.
Mr. Datte was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the destroyer Willie D. Porter as a fireman first class in the Pacific Theater.
He was a senior plant operator for Delmarva Power, retiring in 1984 after 31 years of service.
Mr. Datte was a lifetime member of Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234 at Quillen's Point in Ocean View, Indian River Senior Center, an avid fisherman and bowler and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach and the St. Ann's Men's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Anna Datte; a son, Jeffrey A. Datte and daughter-in-law, Giovanna; a daughter, Andrea Cluney; a brother, Charles Datte; four grandchildren, David, Angela, Margaret and Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church, U.S. 26, in Bethany Beach, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or St. Ann's Catholic Church Building Fund.

Roger P. Elderkin, 73
WILMINGTON - Roger P. Elderkin of Wilmington died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in his daughter's home in Oakley. He was 73.
Mr. Elderkin was a 1946 graduate of H.C. Conrad High School and a 1971 graduate of Delaware Technical & Community College.
He began his career as a police officer for the Delaware Memorial Bridge from 1953 to 1967 and retired as a lieutenant from the New Castle County Police Department in 1977. After his retirement, he worked as a real estate broker and finally, as an office manager for Shadetree Automotive. He was also a mason.
Mr. Elderkin and enjoyed collecting antique model cars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. Elderkin, in 1996.
He is survived by his daughters, Gail Lanouette of Dover, Renee Coddington of Newark, Denise Hill of Oakley and Cherie Jenkins of Newark; grandchildren, Aaron, Shawn, Kristen, Matthew, Brittany, Thomas and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Jordan.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in, the Chapel.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Randall Craig Fleetwood, 48
SEAFORD - Randall Craig Fleetwood of Seaford died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, in his home. He was 48.
Mr. Fleetwood was born in Seaford, son of Roland Vernon and Jean Rogers Fleetwood, both of Laurel.
He was a graduate of Laurel High School, class of 1972.
Mr. Fleetwood was a self-employed farmer.
He was an avid sportsman.
Mr. Fleetwood attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl C. and Blanche S. Fleetwood.
He is survived by two sons, Paul C. Fleetwood of Seaford and F. Thomas Fleetwood of Seaford; a brother, R. Todd Fleetwood of Laurel; a sister, Sharon F. Tyndall of Laurel; three nieces and one nephew.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Pastor Ronald Smith will officiate.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades.
John F. Grincewich, 81
SEAFORD - John F. Grincewich of Seaford died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in Lifecare at Lofland Park in Seaford. He was 81.
Mr. Grincewich was a veteran meteorologist from World War II. He was a captain in the U.S. Air Corps of the European Campaign.
Mr. Grincewich was employed by the DuPont Co. for 39 years as a professional engineer with the plants in Buffalo, New York, Circleville, Ohio, and Seaford, where he developed many improved systems in the BCF department. He retired from DuPont in 1984.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne Owen Grincewich; a son, Bob and his wife, Mary, of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Katherine Grincewich and her husband, Tony Maneechai of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Ann Fresholtz of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Robert Leamy Jr. of San Carlos, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Private burial will take place in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Charles William Kenney, 82
LAUREL - Charles William Kenney of Laurel died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. Kenney was born in Delmar, Md., son of the late George W. and Ruth Kenney.
Mr. Kenney was a farmer, and in his earlier years he was a warehouseman for Eastern Food Distributors and later was a security guard. And for many years he was a carrier for the Daily Times newspaper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth L. Rayne and Florence E. Wilson; and two brothers, Walter G. and Stanley A. Kenney.
He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Kenney of Laurel; a son, Charles E. Kenney of Laurel; three daughters, Deborah Kitching of Millsboro, Lillian E. Kenney of Laurel and Shirley L. Burtelle of Laurel; two brothers, Robert S. Kenney of Salisbury, Md. and Levin E. Kenney of Laurel; a sister, Martha A. Robinson, of Mardela Springs, Md.; six grandchildren, Robbin LeCates, Sherrie Dolby, Penelope Johnson, Dawn Steele, Daniel Stelle and Jessica Spicer; three great grandchildren, Zachary LeCates, Ashleigh Steel and Veronica Dolby; and his pets, Muffin, Angel and Jelly Bean.

SEAFORD - James M. 'Jimmie' Mann Jr. of Seaford died Nov. 6, 2002. He was 34.
Mr. Mann was born March 15, 1968, in Seaford.
Mr. Mann was a construction worker.
He is survived by his parents, James M. Sr. and Joan Mann of Seaford; two brothers, Winston Nichols of Pennsylvania and Brian Mann of Newark; three sisters, Marcella Nichols of Seaford, Ann Mann and Joy Mann of Bridgeville; a godsister, India Thompson of Seaford; two sons, Mark Thomas of Philadelphia and James Mann III of Seaford; two daughters, Tykea Brewer of Bridgeville and Janque Green of Laurel; parental grandfather, Joseph Posey of New York; parental grandmother, Ella Mae Posey of New York; maternal grandmother, Anna Nichols of Seaford; 14 uncles; four aunts; a special friend, Deanna Mickles of Seaford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Daryll N. Norwood, 51
MILLSBORO - Daryll N. Norwood of Millsboro died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 51.
Mr. Norwood was born in Lewes, son of Janice Norwood Davis of Millsboro and the late Linford E. Norwood.
He was a welder with the pipe fitters local 782 in Seaford for the past 32 years.
Mr. Norwood was a member of the Nanticoke Indian Association, was affiliated with the Indian Mission United Methodist Church, both in Millsboro and was a former member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. in Oak Orchard.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Danielle R. Norwood; four brothers, Walter L. Norwood, Anthony S. Norwood, Joshua Norwood and Trantino, all of Millsboro; four sisters, Natosha Carmine of Brookside, Evelyn Harmon, Krucita Hopkins and Sonja Davis all of Millsboro; maternal grandmother, Janie Norwood of Millsboro; two grandchildren, Kyle C. and Colby Norwood; a son-in-law, Samuel L. Long; and two godchildren, Andrew and Lisa Fisher.

Annie Pearl Mitchell, 62
SELBYVILLE - Annie Pearl Mitchell, of Selbyville, died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She was 62.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Pungoteague, Va., daughter of the late Edward and Pearl Snead Garrison.
Following the death of her husband and so she could raise her children, she had formerly worked at Mountaire Farms, previously H&H Poultry, in Selbyville until 1968.
Mrs. Mitchell attended several area churches.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Mitchell III, in 1966.
She is survived by a son, Joseph G. Mitchell IV, of Selbyville; two daughters, Marion L. Harmon and her husband, Anthony, of Selbyville, and Annie E. Mitchell, of Frankford; an adopted son, Curtis Garrison Jr., of Selbyville; a brother, Howard Snead, of Wilmington; three sisters, Mildred Mills, of Boston, Va., Bessie West, of Dagsboro, and Dorothy Mae Snead, of Laurel; a special friend, Elton Jones, of Selbyville; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, Worcester Highway, Bishopville, Md., where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. James Johnson and Elder Rosie Hall will officiate.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Virginia E. 'Betty' Renshaw, 83
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Virginia E. "Betty" Renshaw, of Swarthmore, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in Riddle Village. She was 83.
Mrs. Renshaw was born in Bellefonte, Del., the daughter of the late Edna Lister Gray. She was a 60-year resident of Swarthmore.
She grew up on Maryland's Eastern Shore, attending Greensboro High School, and always considered Greensboro to be her home.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Swarthmore College and the Ingleneuk Tea Room.
She was an avid golfer and bridge player.
Mrs. Renshaw was a member of the Springhaven Club and was very proud of the three holes-in-one she shot during her golfing career.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace R. Renshaw.
She is survived by her son, Clifford M. Renshaw, of Providence, R.I.; her daughter, Diane L. Renshaw, of Los Altos, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.

Maria Roman, 76
DOVER - Maria Roman, of Dover, died Monday, May 14, 2001, in the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She was 76.
Mrs. Roman was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Rio Pierdras, Puerto Rico.
A devoted wife and mother, she later brought her family to America in 1956. Once in America, she and her family settled down in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mrs. Roman valued families and had several children precede her in death. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
She is survived three daughters, Maria Rodriquez and her husband, Angel Rodriquez, of Dover, Zoraida Roman, of Florida, and Brunilda Hernair, of Smyrna; four sons, Carlos Roman, of Cheswold, David Roman, of Florida, and George and Nelson Roman, both of New York; a sister, Pancha Valentine, of Puerto Rico; 33 grandchildren, and countless great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 6 p.m. Friday at Bennie Smith Funeral Chapel in Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to service.
Burial will be private.
Robert James Anemone, 74
TOWNSEND - Robert James Anemone of Townsend died Friday, May 16, 2003, in his home. He was 74.
Mr. Anemone was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Chester, Pa., son of the late Leon and Elma Wright Anemone.
Mr. Anemone was a carpenter for Renu Construction Co.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Lloyd Anemone; two sons, Robert and James Anemone, both of Wilmington; a daughter, Donna Ciarlane of Florida; his stepmother, Sadie Anemone of Boothwyn, Pa.; four brothers, William Anemone of Boothwyn, and David, Roland and Johnny Anemone, all of Arkansas; and two half-sisters, Kathy Rumbold and Paula Parasink, both of Boothwyn.

Anna F. Angstadt, 98
MILFORD - Anna F. Angstadt of Milford died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Milford Center nursing home. She was 98.
Mrs. Angstadt was born July 17, 1904, in Newville, Pa., daughter of the late John and Maggie Pearce Fisher.
She was a homemaker all her life.
Mrs. Angstadt was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Milford. She also was a life member of the Elizabethtown chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, U. Sheridan Angstadt, in 1980; and two daughters, Jean Grona and June Winters.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, U. Sheridan Jr. and Ella Angstadt of Interlachen, Fla., and John and Joy Angstadt of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Betty and Ivan Wolgemuth of Mannheim, Pa., Nancy and Bill Stohler of Marrietta, Pa., Pat and Ike Reeves of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Jeanette and George Schmith of Plantation, Fla.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Lorenzo Martin 'Renzie' Brown, 47
FELTON - Lorenzo Martin "Renzie" Brown of Felton died of natural causes Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, near Elsmere. He was 47.
Mr. Brown was born July 7, 1955, son of the late Florence Barbara (Berry) Brown and Richard Cornelius Brown.
He was awarded a two-year scholarship to the Lawrence Academy Preparatory College, Boston, and graduated from Lake Forest High School, Felton, in 1974. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Naval Academy.
Mr. Brown served in the Navy for 11 years.
After his military career, he returned home to help his father with his auto-body business. Under the guidance of his father, he became a very talented auto-body repairman.
Mr. Brown helped his mother care for his grandfather and became the primary caregiver for his mother when her health failed. Even until he departed his life, he was happiest when he could joke and cut up. On Aug. 12, 1994, he married Catherine Memminger. They both enjoyed traveling, but "Renzie" could be content just crabbing and fishing. He had a true love for water.
In addition to his wife and his father, he is survived by two daughters, Eboni McNeal of Norfolk, Va., and Tamara Simmons of Charleston, S.C.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Douglas and Riet Berry of the Netherlands, Larry and Tarice Brown of Newark and Roy Patton of Wilmington; a sister, Lois Brown of Felton; a sister-in-law, Michele Brown of Dover; four loving nieces, Lachelle Caldwell, Larica Curry, Kendra Brown and Ashley Glover; four loving nephews, Roy Henderson, Eric Henderson, Vincent Glover and Larry Brown Jr.; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Mount Plymouth African Methodist Episcopal Church, Felton. The Rev. Sonja Ayers will officiate.

Vera Lee Burger, 61
TOWNSEND - Vera Lee Burger of Townsend died after a long illness Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. She was 61.
Mrs. Burger was born Dec. 27, 1941, in Earleville, Md., the youngest of six children of the late Samuel C. Knotts Sr. and Lid E. Knotts.
She lived most of her life in Townsend. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1959.
She retired from the University of Delaware's Department of Consumer Studies in 1998. She and her husband operated Level End Farm/Dairy, Townsend, for 31 years.
Mrs. Burger was a devoted wife and mother, always supporting the many activities of her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell B. Knotts and Harold F. Knotts Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Josef "Andy" Burger of Townsend; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Vera Eileen and John C. "J.C." Mears, Sandra Lee and David Hagadorn, and Joanne Louise and Ian Walls, all of Townsend; four grandchildren whom she loved greatly, Russell J. McNatt, Josef G. Mears, Patricia E. Mears and Melinda L. Hagadorn; a brother, Samuel C. Knotts Jr. of Dover; two sisters, Mary Ellen Alexander of Townsend and Thelma L. Rhoades of Warwick, Md.; a sister-in-law, Frances Knotts of Townsend; and many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss her.

Dorothy Draper, 65
MIDDLETOWN - Dorothy Draper of Middletown died after a short illness Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Union Hospital, Elkton, Md. She was 65.
Mrs. Draper was born Sept. 28, 1937, daughter of the late Ruth Summers and Ernest Sudler Sr.
She received her education at Louis L. Redding High School, Middletown.
Mrs. Draper worked at the Hanover plant for many years until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
She is survived by two daughters, Capathia Summers of Middletown and Carlotta Miller of Tyler, Texas; a son, Ronald Summers of Detroit; two sisters, Marguerite Harris of Dover and Marian Miller of Smyrna; three half-sisters, Josephine Brooks, Margaret White and Irene Turner, all of Dover; three brothers, Raymond Summers, Melvin Summers and Ernest B. Sudler, all of Dover; a very special friend, John Saddler; four grandchildren; two godchildren; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Dale's United Methodist Church, Lake Street, Middletown, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Alberta P. Gelletly, 85
DENTON, Md. - Alberta P. Gelletly of Denton died Monday, May 12, 2003, at The Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 85.
Mrs. Gelletly was born in Greensboro, daughter of the late Harvey George Porter and Margaret Kornrumpf Porter.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gelletly was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Greensboro, until 1973. She was active in the Ladies' Organization, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She became a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Denton, on Sept. 4, 1973. She also was a past member of the Seaford (Del.) Symphonic Choir, a past member of the Caroline Chorus and a member of AARP Chapter 915.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George M. Weer.
She is survived by her second husband, whom she married March 17, 1973, Theodore F. Gelletly of Denton; three stepchildren, Theodore A. Gelletly of Dayton, Dr. Grace K. Gelletly of Baltimore and Robert F. Gelletly of Frederick; three brothers, Carlton H. Porter and Richard K. Porter, both of Greensboro, and Arthur G. Porter of Denton; and six step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. May 31 at Homestead Manor, Denton.
Burial will be private.
