Michelle D. Jeandell, 37
SEAFORD - Michelle D. Jeandell of Seaford died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002. According to police, she was allegedly shot and killed by her husband, Michael D, Quandt, during an argument at their home. She was 37.
Mrs. Jeandell worked in the meat department at Wal-Mart in Seaford for the past 41/2 years.
Mrs. Jeandell enjoyed dancing and listening to country music. She was a devoted and loving mother who will be dearly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne C. Jeandell; and a brother, Daniel Jeandell.
She is survived by two daughters, Dezeray Jeandell and Ashley Robbins; a stepson, Michael A. Quandt, all at home; her mother, Geraldine Harris of Dover; three sisters, Catherine Miller of Dover, Cecilia Wilekens of Eldorado, Md. and Maria Velez of Edgewater, Md.; a brother, Joseph Craig of New Castle; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Price Hall, St. Joseph's Complex, Cleaver Farm Road, off Del. 299 in Middletown, where friends many call two hours earlier.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the children's education fund. There will be envelopes available at the service to make donations.

Harold William Jennys Jr., 76
DOVER - Harold William Jennys Jr. of Dover died from internal cerebral hemorrhage Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. He suffered from the bone marrow disease, MDS. He was 76.
Mr. Jennys was born June 3, 1926 in Rye, N.Y., son of the late Mary Norvell and Harold Jennys Sr.
He attended the Avon Old Farm School and the Kent School for Boys. He also received technical training in New York City in photography and drafting.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Jennys spent several years at Xerox in his earlier years. In 1968, he went from independent consultant to job shopper, working as a design engineer.
His hobbies were oil painting, gardening, woodworking, target shooting and hunting.
Mr. Jennys was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois H. Jennys, Oct. 23 1995; and a sister, Shirley Scifries, in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Ella E. Everett of Camden; three children, Mark W. Jennys of Baltimore, the Rev David R. Jennys of Wanatan, Ind., and Cathy L. Heagy of Narvon, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Taylor of Sequim, Wash.; five stepchildren; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, in Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Camden. The Rev. Jim Walz, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Mabel E. Lawson, 95
MILLSBORO - Mabel E. Lawson of Millsboro, formerly of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in the home of her caregiver. She was 95.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Millsboro, daughter of the late Elmer H. and Lydia Bowden Lawson.
Mrs. Lawson had worked for the Foster Brothers Clothing Co. in Philadelphia for many years before retiring and returning to Millsboro.
She is survived by a nephew and a niece.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Dr. James C. Van Der Wall will officiate.
Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, Pa.
Wayne Ernest Leverage, 56
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Wayne Ernest Leverage of Chestertown died of a heart attack Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital Chestertown. He was 56.
Mr. Leverage was born March 7, 1946 in Chestertown, son of Delores Scott Leverage and the late Ernest C. Leverage.
He graduated from Chestertown High School and was a deliveryman for the Baltimore Sun newspaper. Mr. Leverage was a life member of the Chestertown Fire Department and past chief of the Rock Hall Fire Department. He served on the safety committee of the Maryland State Fireman's Association. He was also past president of the Kent and Queen Anne Volunteer Fireman's Association and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, John C. Leverage, Sr. of Chestertown; a nephew, J.C. Leverage of Chestertown; three cousins, Jane Leverage-Willis of Smyrna, Del., Joy Ericson of Wilmington, Del. and Ned Leverage of Still Pond, Md., and extended family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Church Hill Cemetery following the service.
Pallbearers will be firemen Richard White, Lester Downes, Mark Whitby, Pete Lott, Billy Pinder, Kevin Middleton, John Toulson, Phil Russum, Claude Jayner and Jeff Thompson, members of the Chestertown and Rock Hall volunteer fire departments and the Maryland State Fireman's Association Safety Committee.

Charles L. 'Gene' Lloyd Sr., 75
MILLINGTON, Md. - Charles L. "Gene" Lloyd Sr. of Millington died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in his home. He was 75.
Mr. Lloyd was born in Queen Anne's County, son of the late David Thomas and Bertha Mae Green Lloyd.
He worked at Geno's Auto Repair Service in Chestertown and retired in 1990.
Mr. Lloyd loved to garden, he loved his family, friends, animals and a good time. He especially loved his cats and dogs. He also loved antique cars. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas A. Lloyd; a sister, Edith Lloyd and a half brother, Frank Ross.
He is survived by his wife, Alice W. Lloyd of Millington; a son, Charles L. "Junior" Lloyd Jr. of Millington; a daughter, Joyce Ann Redding of Millington; two brothers, Alfred and Andrew Lloyd, both of Chestertown; a half brother, Clifton Ross of Chestertown; a sister, Bertha Everett of Havre De Grace; seven grandchildren, Terry, Greg, Cindy, Bruce, Amy, Tina and Melissa; and 13 great grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Julia Papai Atwater, 81
ONANCOCK, Va. - Julia Papai Atwater of Onancock died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk. She was 81.
Mrs. Atwater was born July 30, 1921, in Akron, Ohio, daughter of the late Stephen and Julia Peck Papai.
She was an aviation machinist mate for the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mrs. Atwater enjoyed coin collecting, boating, time at the beach, and was an avid gardener.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Jacob Atwater Jr. in 2001; a brother, Stephen Papia; and a sister, Anne Deverman.
She is survived by three sons, John J. Atwater III of Alberton, Montana, Stephen Atwater of Galena, Md. and Robert Atwater of Worton, Md.; a daughter, Julianne Atwater of Anguilla; two sisters, Kathryn Spillman of New Waterford, Ohio and Dorothy Binder of Arlington Heights, Ill.; three brothers, Michael Papai of Manlius, N.Y., Carl Papai of Columbus, Ohio and James Papai of Bowie, Md.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena. The Rev. Lawrence Jameson will officiate.

Robert L. Cherry, 64
BRIDGEVILLE - Robert L. Cherry of Bridgeville died of heart failure Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 64.
Mr. Cherry was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Elwood, Md.
He was a member of Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, Salisbury, Md.
He is survived by two sons, Carlton May of New York and Rodney Miller of Easton, Md.; a daughter, Hattie Kellam of Providence, R.I.; a brother, Gilbert Jacobs of Seaford; three sisters, Margie Lewis, Helen Cannon and Martha Cherry, all of Seaford; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Edward Lewis and Isaac Cannon, both of Seaford; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Jacobs of Bridgeville and Ann Jacobs of Seaford; two aunts, Audrey Hooper of Federalsburg, Md., and Melva Hill of Seaford; an uncle, John Hill of Seaford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

William M. Vannote, 84
HARBESON - William M. Vannote of Harbeson died suddenly Friday, May 18, 2001, in Rehoboth Beach. He was 84.
Mr. Vannote had a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
He retired in 1979 as a supervisor after 40 years' service for ITT, Clifton, N.J.
Mr. Vannote was prefect of the Third Order Lay Franciscans in Pompton Lakes, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Petronella Beatrice Vannote, in October 2000.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Riker of Palm Bay, Fla., and Carol Clark of Harbeson; a son, Dennis Vannote of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two foster sons, Richard Hoffman of Toms River, N.J., and Arthur Porcaro of Pompton Lakes; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LEWES - Mary Ellen (Good) Deshong of Lewes died Saturday, May 17, 2003, four days before her 81st birthday, in Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. She was 80.
Mrs. DeShong was born May 21, 1922, in Warfordsburg, Pa., daughter of the late David S. and Anna Opal (Giffen) Good.
She had lived in Marion, Pa., for 22 years, and was formerly employed by Knouse Foods, Chambersburg, Pa., for 22 years.
Mrs. DeShong was formerly a resident of Luther Towers, Milton, before moving to Harbor Healthcare Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bland W. DeShong in 1959.
She is survived by two sons, DeLee DeShong of Rehoboth Beach and Mark Deshong of Detroit; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Stephen Lee 'Big Daddy' Dunmeyer, 53
MILLSBORO - Stephen Lee "Big Daddy" Dunmeyer of Riverdale, near Millsboro, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He was 53.
Mr. Dunmeyer was born in Meyersdale, Pa., son of Lloyd Dunmeyer Jr. of Felton and the late Julia Menaquale Dunmeyer.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Dunmeyer was a member of the Oak Orchard-Riverdale American Legion Post 28 and an active member of the Indian River Sports Club.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Dunmeyer of the family home; a son, Richard Dunmeyer of Oxford, Pa.; a brother, Frank Dunmeyer of Hockessin; two sisters, Rowie Panaski of Millsboro and Cathy Plank of Texas; and his best friend and companion for many years, Bonnie Kintz of Millsboro.

LINCOLN - David Elias Engle Sr. of Lincoln died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Capitol Nursing and Reha-bilitation Center, Dover. He was 75.
Mr. Engle was born in Clem Township, Pa., son of the late William L. and Pearl (Stewart) Engle,
He was a spray-gun repairman for General Motors, Boxwood Road, Newport, retiring in 1986. He worked in the traffic division for the Rehoboth Beach Police Department from 1987 to 1993. He also worked for Masten's Home Center for eight years.
For many years, he was Santa Claus at the Plaza in Milford.
Mr. Engle was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Milford. He also was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 435 in Wilmington, the Milford Senior Center, Good Sam Camping Associa-tion, Wagon Master Shanty Shakers and the Sussex County Stroke Club.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Mickey" Engle of Lincoln; a son, David Engle Jr. of Coatesville, Pa.; a daughter, Tina Marie Ham of Gap, Pa., three stepchildren, Ralph L. Fleetwood and Brian J. Fleetwood, both of Wilmington, and Tammy L. Mikeals of Milford; two brothers, James M. Martin Sr. of Christiana, Pa., and Joseph M. Martin of Strausburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann Fisher, 54
MILLVILLE - Mary Ann Fisher of Millville, formerly of Catonsville, Md., died of complications of cancer Monday, May 19, 2003, in her home. She was 54.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Wallace Powell and Fayetta Mann Powell.
She was a self-employed computer consultant.
Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Bethany Beach Christian Church, and had been a member of the Chris-tian Temple in Catonsville for 30 years before moving to Millville.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Guy R. Fisher; a son, Evan Fisher; two daughters, Amy Ma-ranto and Melinda White; and a granddaughter, Anastasia Maranto.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Bethany chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Avenue in Ocean View.

Joan A. Hurtt, 65
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Joan A. Hurtt of Hagerstown died Thursday, May 15, 2003, in the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. She was 65.
Mrs. Hurtt was born July 19, 1937, daughter of the late Meryl and Viola Anderson Johnson.
She was a graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in police science.
Mrs. Hurtt and her husband made their home in Frederick from 1966 until moving to Hagerstown in 1996.
She was a parole and probation officer with the state of Maryland from 1979 to 1994, retiring after 15 years of service.
She volunteered for REACH caregivers and enjoyed traveling with the Hagerstown Community College ILIR, a program for seniors.
Mrs. Hurtt was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Beaver Creek Lions Club and the American Association of University Women.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Woodland Hurtt; two children, Robert Julian Hurtt of Georgetown and Arlington, Va., and Katherine Hurtt of Frederick; and a sister, Jean Ing of Iron Mountain, Mich.
Graveside services will be noon today in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Georgetown.

MILTON - Andrew B. "Bud" Ludwig Sr. of Milton died of natural causes Saturday, May 17, 2003, in his home. He was 78.
Mr. Ludwig was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Ephrata, Pa., son of the late Harry M. and Helen (Baker) Ludwig.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II in Okinawa and the Asiatic-Pacific area.
Mr. Ludwig and his wife were formerly the owners and operators of Ephrata Turkey Farms and Hatchery on Ridge Avenue, Ephrata, for many years.
He had lived in Fort Myers, Fla., for several years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and hunting
Mr. Ludwig was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ephrata. He was a life mem-ber of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Ocean View VFW Post 7234. He had been a member of the Blue Ribbon Hunting Camp in Potter County, Pa., for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorace E. Faust Ludwig of Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, An-drew R. Ludwig Jr. and Gretta Ludwig of Rehoboth Beach; three granddaughters, Andrea L. Steele of Cape Coral, Fla., Laura L. Moss of Newark and Susanne E. Ludwig of Lewes; a sister, Mary Jane McQuate of Luther Acres, Lancaster, Pa.; three nieces; and three nephews.

Betty H. Maree, 76
ELKTON, Md. - Betty H. Maree of Elkton, formerly of Newark, Del., died of complications of cancer Monday, May 19, 2003, in her daughter's home in Elkton. She was 76.
Mrs. Maree was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence N. Maree, in 1993; and by an infant son, Richard Allen Maree.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald N. and Marni Maree of Springfield, Va.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia M. Zang, with whom she had lived the past two years, of Elkton, Phyllis M. and Karl Paolini of Wyoming, Del., and Alice M. and Dayle Charles of Kemblesville, Pa.; a sister, Lucy Titter of Chesapeake City; and nine grandchildren.

Francis B. Smith Jr., 79
GREENWOOD -Francis B. Smith Jr. of Greenwood, formerly of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, died of natural causes Monday, May 19, 2003, in his home. He was 79.
Mr. Smith was born April 7, 1924, in Philadelphia, son of the late Francis B. and Helen Shulle Smith.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He worked in quality control for Progress Lighting Co. in Philadelphia and for Seagull in Riverside, N.J.
Mr. Smith was a longtime boater on the Chesapeake Bay. In his retirement, he enjoyed attending local auctions.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis J. Brown Smith; a son, Francis B. Smith III of William-stown, N.J., two daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Brian Duffy of Salem, N.J., and Deborah and Andrew Webster of Moorestown, N.J.; and five grandchildren, John, William, Jessica, Victoria and Amelia.
