Kay Fesler Fales
Kay Fesler Fales, age 70, of Trenton, Fl. died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties. Kay was born in Weirton, West Virginia and moved to Trenton from Greenacres, Fl in 1988. Kay was a member of The Old Town United Methodist Church, Suwannee River Early V8 Ford Club, and the Springhouse Quilters Guild. Kay was a retired hairdresser.
She is survived by her husband – Donald R. Fales, Sr. of Trenton, Fl, her daughters - Angelia Louise Peacock of West Palm Beach, Fl and Teri Kay Scoggins of Yankeetown, Fl, her son – Donald Raymond Fales, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fl. her sister – Val Jean Young of West Palm Beach, Fl. and a granddaughter – Kathleen Louis Peacock of West Palm Beach, Fl.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Old Town, Fl, with Rev. Carl Rainear officiating. Burial will be at the Hardeetown Methodist Cemetery in Chiefland. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Samuel Lane Ferguson
Samuel Lane Ferguson, 61, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Norfolk, VA, he lived in Fort Pierce, FL, before moving to Bell, Fl, for 22 years. He was the Finance Director for Gilchrist County, and was also in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of William T. Carlton Masonic Lodge #46 of Trenton, FL, Morocco Temple of Jacksonville, FL, Ambassador at Large, Aide to the Potentate, Gainesville Council #27 Royal and Select Masters, Twice past Commander of Pilgrim Commandery #7 Knights Templar, Suwannee River Shrine Club of Trenton, FL, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #251, York Rite Bodies, Royal Arch Mason, Chapter #2 of Gainesville, FL, Masters and Wardens Association of the 12th Masonic District of Florida, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Ocala, FL, Knight Crusaders of the Cross of Gainesville, FL, American Legion of Trenton, FL, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel’s Crippled and Burned Children’s Representative “Gold Hook Award” Kids Fishing Tournament Chairman, Grand and Glorious Order of the Hillbilly’s Clan #18.
He was also a board member for Trenton Medical Center for 17 years, Florida Park Service Alumni, Association Democratic Executive Committee, Gilchrist County Educational Foundation and Trenton Rotary.
Samuel Lane Ferguson is survived by his wife Rayanne Jordan Ferguson; one step daughter, Cindy Hanes of Palm Bay, FL; three sons, Samuel L. (Kim) Ferguson, Jr. of Titusville, FL, Parker Wyatt Ferguson and Levi Dalton Ferguson, both of Bell, FL; one sister, Debbie (James) Wilson of Virginia; one grandchild, Gage Ferguson of Titusville, FL; four step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a number of loving family members and a host of close community friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Billy Philman & Pastor Jerry Milton officiating. Services were held at Priscilla Baptist Church of Bell, FL. He was buried at Townsend Cemetery in Bell, FL, with Masonic Graveside Rites and Military Honors Service. The viewing was one hour prior to the service at the Priscilla Baptist Church in Bell, FL.
A trust fund in the names of Parker and Levi Ferguson has been set up at Ameris Bank in Trenton, formerly Tri-County Bank.

Gary “Drew” Sullivan
Mr. Gary “Drew” Sullivan of Old Town passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at North Florida Regional Hospital. He was 55. Born in Mayo, Florida, Mr. Sullivan was raised in Perry, FL and then moved to the Tri-County area where he lived the majority of his life. He was a roofer and a Baptist.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife, Edna M. Sullivan of Old Town; sons, Bobby and Andy Sullivan, both of Fanning Springs; daughters, Joey and Judy Henderson, both of Old Town; brothers, Connie Mac Sullivan, Billy John Sullivan and Jack Sullivan, all of Perry, and Mike Sullivan of Fanning Springs; sisters, Nell Sullivan of Fanning Springs and Stella Osborne of Ellabelle, GA; and 9 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter Angie Sullivan, brother, Wayland Sullivan, 2 grandchildren and his parents, Hope and Ida Mae Sullivan.
Funeral Services for Mr. Sullivan were held Monday, March 6, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Lindsey officiating. Burial followed at Old Town Cemetery. A visitation was held Sunday, March 5, 2006 between the hours of 4 and 6 pm at the funeral home.
Arrangements were placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City, FL 352-498-5400.

Augustus “Gus” M. Smith
Mr. Augustus “Gus” M. Smith of Old Town passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Haven Hospice House in Chiefland. He was 77 years old. He moved here in 1989 from Hialeah, FL. He was a member for the Masonic Lodge of Columbia, SC and a former member of the Lions Club of Hialeah. He retired from Eastern Airline after 22 years and was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol serving for 2 years. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri Smith of Old town; sons, Norman Smith of Old Town, Howie Smith of Weston, FL, Bryan Smith of Wake Forest, NC and Troy Smith of Weston, FL; daughter, Traci Bartick of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Benjamin Smith of Anderson, SC; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 6:00 PM at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City with Rev. Bobby Lindsey officiating. A visitation was held Saturday, March 4, 2006 between the hours of 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
All arrangements were placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City.

R.L. Sears
Mr. R.L. Sears of Old Town passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Lake City. He was 86 years old. He was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of the McCrabb Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, 1st Marine Division, serving in WWII in the South Pacific. He received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Lonie Mae of Old Town; son, Richard Sears of Old Town; daughters, Wanda Sheffield of Chiefland, Kathey Bond of Cross City, Nancy Neeley of Cross City; brothers, Allen Sullivan and Cline Sullivan both of Old Town; sisters, Kat Cannon and Junita Millican both of Old Town; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Sears were held Friday, March 3, 2006 at 2:00pm at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Robertson officiating. Burial followed at the Old McCrabb Cemetery. A visitation was held Thursday, March 2, 2006 between the hours of 6 and 8 pm at the funeral home.
Arrangements were placed under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City.

William Kirk Napier
Mr. William Kirk Napier of Old Town passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Tri-County Hospice Care Center in Chiefland. He was 59 years old. He moved here in 1996 from Manfield, Ohio. He was a member of the Ohio Moose Lodge in Galion, Ohio and the Florida State Rodeo Association. In 1975 he was named “All Around Cowboy of Florida.”
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Old Town; daughters, Connie Stroh (Shannon) of Cross City, Dawn Fisher (Julio Eguigurems) of Old Town and Windy Cottrel of SC; sister, Linda Spears of Galion, OH and Mary Ellen Elliott of Galion, OH; brother, Jerry Napier; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Memorial services for Mr. Napier was held Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 PM with Rev. Arthur Watkins officiating.
All arrangements were placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City.

Elwood Henry Martin, Jr.
Mr. Elwood Henry Martin, Jr. of Old Town passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Brevard Hospice & Palliative Care in Melbourne. He was 73 years old. He moved here in 1987 from Tampa where he was a firefighter for the City of Tampa for 23 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #265 in Tampa, the Fanning Springs Moose Lodge and the Dixie County Amateur Radio Klub (DARK).
He is survived by his wife, Anna Ruth Martin of Old Town; daughters, Carolyn McPheeters of Melbourne and Kathy Berlin of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Ann Ream of O’Brien, FL; and 3 grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Martin were held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Old Town Cemetery at 1:00 PM. A visitation was held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home between the hours of 10 AM and 12 Noon.
Arrangements were placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City.
