Oscar Vinton May
Oscar Vinton May, 80 years old, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2005 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. Mr. May moved to Old Town from Pinellas Park in 1985. He was a retired machinist with the Foremost, Hoods and pet dairies of St. Pete. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the United States Marine Corp. He was a Baptist.
Mr. May is survived by sons, Philip May of Pinellas Park and William May of St. Petersburg; daughters, Barbara Parrish of Old Town and Janice Rouse of St. Petersburg; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Gloria Jean Creighton and Doris Ann Slavin.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 2:30 pm at Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Lindsay officiating.

Phillip Eugene Marion Barber
Mr. Phillip Eugene Marion Barber 75 years old passed away Monday, May 9, 2005 at his home in Old Town. Mr. Barber worked 22 years for the United States Postal Service, and was a member of Scrubb Creek Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Hutchinson of O’Brien; Idella Rains of Old Town; son Steve Barber of Cross City; sisters, Thetus Poore and Mary Mikell both of Old Town; Catherine Ezell and Betty Lou Ross both of Cross City. She has 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Scrubb Creek Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 4:00pm with Rev, Archie Knowles and Rev. Everette Hicks officiating, Burial followed at the church Cemetery, A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 10,2005

Mrs. Mildred Louise Petty
Mrs. Mildred Louise Petty,79 years old, passed away Monday, June 20, 2005 at her home in Old Town. Mrs. Petty was a longtime resident of Dixie County and a member of the Old Town Baptist Church
Mrs. Petty is survived by two sons, Welsey Dwain Petty of Chokoloskee; Lawrence Dwight Petty of Old Town; 3 daughters, Joyce Virginia Harris of Fernandina Beach, Mildred Gail Grissett of Old Town and Wanda Cornelia Duck of Chiefland; 2 sisters, Mary Lee Purvis and Jewel Pinner both of Waycross, GA; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 7 great-grand children
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley H. Petty
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m at McCrabb Baptist Church in Old Town. Reverend Royce Hanshew will be officiating. Burial will follow at Old McCrabb Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 between the hours of 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home

Yvonne Rose Baily
Mrs. Yvonne Rose Baily, 46, of Old Town, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at her home.
She was born in Orlando, Florida and moved to Old Town six years ago from Orlando. She was a computer operator and a homemaker, and also a Baptist.
Her survivors include her husband of 16 years, Charles W. Baily Jr., of Old Town; mother, Vickie Talton of England; three brothers, Wayne Talton of Springdale, Ark., Alan Talton of Kissimmee; and Steven Talton of Orlando; one sister, Lisa Blanchard of Kissimmee.

George Dubovich
Mr. George Dubovich, 80, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Center in Chiefland on July 5. He was a resident of Old Town for the past 5 years and formerly of Crystal River, Fl. George was born in White City, MN on November 2, 1924, and was a longtime resident of Gary, Indiana. George was a truck driver with the teamsters for thirty years in N.W. Indiana and worked with various construction companies.
He served with the U.S. Navy in wwII from 1943-1946 in the South Pacific.
George leaves behind his children: George and Nancy Dubovich of Valparaso, Indiana. Steve and Deborah Dubovich of Hebron, Indiana, and Theresa and Terry Moore of Wanatah, Indiana. George also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, two brothers, Paul and Dan of Marble, MN and sisters Ann of Bovey, MN and Mayme of the state of Washington. Also surviving, is special friend and caregiver, Sue Walters of Old Town, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Reva, second wife, Marge, and four brothers and three sisters.
He appreciated all the care and attention he received during his visits to the Hospice Care Center of Chiefland.

John Carlton Johns, Jr.
Mr. John Carlton Johns, Jr,, age 70, of Trenton, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Born in Gainesville, Florida, Mr. Johns moved to Trenton from Suwannee, Florida three years ago. He was a commercial fisherman and crabber for 30 years.
Mr. Johns was a veteran of the United States Navy and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Johns is survived by his son, John Carlton Johns, III of Trenton, Florida and three grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Jonesville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. O.E. Boals officiating.

Douglas Byrn Jones
Mr. Douglas Byrn Jones, 52 years old, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at his home in Old Town. Mr. Jones moved to Old Town from Bushnell 20 years ago. Mr. Jones was a member of the Moose Lodge in Fanning Springs.
Mr. Jones is survived by his mother, Ernestine and step-dad Johnnie Duffer of Bushnell; life-time companion, Barbara Cypert Jones of Old Town, three step-sons, James Bate of West VA; William Bate of Chiefland, Ronald Blewitt of Old Town; one step-daughter, Keri McAndrew of Old Town, sister, Sandra Woodard of Bushnell; four grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, & Seamus McAndrew and Savanah Bate.
