Melisha Ann Whitby
Ms. Melisha Ann Whitby passed away at her residence in Old Town, on Tuesday, April 27, 2004. She was 22 years of age. She formerly attended Rock Sink Baptist Church.
Ms. Whitby is survived by her parents, Charles S. Whitby, Sr. and Barbara Grantham; brothers, Charles Sidney Whitby, Jr. and Phillip Eudell Grantham, both of Old Town, FL; sister, Elizabeth Marie Grantham of Old Town, FL; paternal grandfather, Buster Whitby of Old Town, FL; maternal grandparents, Cremora Marie “Tish” Daley of Sayre, PA, and Phillip Dean Prinzi of Spring Hill, FL.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 2:00pm at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Sammy Corbin officiating. Burial followed at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation was held on Friday, April 30, 2004 between the hours of 6:00-8:00pm.
Arrangements are under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, (352) 498-5400.

Thomas Wayne Andrews
Thomas Wayne Andrews, 51, a laboratory technician for General Dynamics in St. Marks, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, in Tallahassee. A graveside service was held at 11 am, Sunday, May 9th at Beth Page Cemetery in Wacissa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL, 32308. Beggs Funeral Home Monticello Chapel (997-5612) handled the arrangements.
He is a lifelong resident of Wacissa and was a Baptist.
He is survived by his mother Frances Andrews of Wacissa; four brothers, Billy Andrews (and wife Linda) of Cross City, Ricky Andrews and Todd Andrews (and wife Cheryl), both of Wacissa, and Roger Andrews (and wife Ruth Ann) of Crawfordville; two sisters, Jo Ann Andrews of Monticello and Jackie Rutherford (and husband Sammy) of Monticello; 14 loving nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Rufus Andrews.

Robert Alan Brown
Mr. Robert Alan Brown passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2004, at his residence in Old Town, Florida. He was 55 years of age. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army for two years. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier.
Mr. Brown is survived by his daughters, Amy Marchany and Kristen Brown, both of Long Island; son Danny Brown of Long Island; and parents Rupert and Dorothy Brown of Old Town, FL.
Arrangements are under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, (352) 498-5400.
Petty Officer 2nd Class

Jason Bosley Dwelley
Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason Bosley Dwelley passed away on Friday, April 30, 2004, in Al Abnar Providence, Iraq, while on active duty. He was 31 years of age. Mr. Dwelley was a lifetime resident of Apopka, FL. He graduated from Apopka High in 1990 and attended the Trinity Baptist Church in Apopka, FL. He was in the Navy 6 years as a Hull Maintenance Operator, and 3 ½ years of reserve.
Mr. Dwelley is survived by his parents, John and Quenell Dwelley of Apopka, FL; sisters Dara Delaney of Orlando, FL, Amanda Dwelley of Apopka, FL; half-sisters Teresa Seen, Diana Bichard, and Brenda Martin, all of Orlando, FL; grandmother Nancy Dwelley of Palmeroy, Ohio.
Full Military Honors were held on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 11:00 am, Graveside at the Rock Sink Baptist Church in Old Town, FL. A visitation was held at 10:00 am at the Rock Sink Baptist Church before the service.
Arrangements were under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, 352-498-5400.

Donald Rosenberry Fowler
Mr. Donald Rosenberry Fowler passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the Cross City Rehabilitation Center in Cross City, FL. He was 73 years of age. Mr. Fowler was a lifetime resident of Dixie County and he drove a truck for 48 years.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his daughters, Tina Butler of Cross City, FL, and Kathy Osteen of Horseshoe Beach, FL; son Donald Fowler, Jr. of Cross City, FL; brothers G.C. Fowler and Bronzell Fowler, both of Cross City, FL, and Laster Fowler of Old Town, FL; sister Mozell Fowler of Cross City, FL; half sisters Bessie Jones and Maggie Mae Green, both of Old Town, FL, and Eneal Butler of Jacksonville, FL. He had 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Valentine.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, May 7, 2004 at 2:00pm, graveside at Fowler Cemetery in Old Town, FL, with Rev. Jim Hurst officiating. A visitation was held on Thursday, May 6, 2004, between the hours of 6:00-8:00 pm.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, 352-498-5400.

Lorraine Abbott Ladner
Mrs. Lorraine Abbott Ladner passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida. She was 80 years of age. She moved from Hubbardton, VT, to Steinhatchee, FL, in 1985, where she was a homemaker and became a member of the Steinhatchee United Methodist Church in Jena, FL.
Mrs. Ladner is survived by her husband, Raymond Ladner of Steinhatchee, FL; sons Martin Ladner of Montgomery, AL, and John Ladner of Bailey, CO; daughter Carol Ann White of Douglasville, Pa; brother Howard Abbott of Courtland, NY. She has 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Steinhatchee United Methodist Church in Jena, FL with Pastor Winford Harris officiating. Burial followed at Waters Memorial Cemetery. A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, between the hours of 5-7 pm at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City.
Arrangements were under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, (352) 498-5400.

J.P. “Bo” McEwien, Jr.
Mr. J.P. “Bo” McEwien, Jr. passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Malcomb Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. He was 55 years of age. Mr. McEwien was a lifetime resident of Cross City. He was in Law Enforcement for 25 years, serving both with the Cross City Police Department and the Dixie County Sheriff’s Department, where he retired in 2001. He served twelve years in the United States Navy, leaving with the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class and having served three tours during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Shamrock Masonic Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, the National Rifle Association, and was also a member of Lydia Baptist Church.
Mr. McEwien, Jr. is survived by his wife, Becky McEwien of Cross City, FL; son J.P. McEwien III, Buster (Debbie) of Salem, FL; daughters Katherine McEwien, and Molly Chambers, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters Anna Lucille (Susie) McEwien and Marilyn Futch, both of Cross City, FL, Patsy Kay Snyder of Orange, TX, and Melanie Ponthoux of El Paso, TX. He had two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 10, 2004, at 3:00 pm at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Billy Robson officiating. Burial followed at Lee Cemetery in Old Town, FL.
Arrangements were under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, (352) 498-5400.
