Larry Suggs
Larry Suggs, 69, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004, at his home following a short illness.
The Jacksonville, Florida native was born November 17, 1934, and was a lifelong resident of the Branford, FL, area. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, an insurance underwriter with Suggs Insurance Agency, Inc. for 10 years, and served on the board of Trustees for McCall’s Chapel United Methodist Church of Branford, where he was an active member.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Suggs; two daughters, Laura and Rebecca Suggs, both of Branford, FL; three sons, Alan and Lewis Suggs both of Williston, FL, and Adam Suggs of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Tiffany Prats, Aaron Suggs, Austin Suggs, Grace Suggs, and Ty Cramer, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at 2:00 pm at McCall’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Fred Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Daniels Funeral Home of Branford was in charge of all arrangements.
Candace Dawn Veach
Miss Candace Dawn Veach of Old Town passed away Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Shands of UF following a traffic accident. She was 18 years old. Candace moved to Old Town in 1994 from St. Petersburg where she was born. She was a senior at Dixie County High School where she was a member of Teen Court, FBLA, Dixie County High School Band, where she played clarinet, and the Color Guard Squad.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Clinton McCray of Old Town; father, Timothy Veach of St. Petersburg; sisters, Crystal Baxley and Danielle Veach, both of Old Town; maternal grandparents, Harold and Janet Blydenburgh of Old Town and Luther Price of Old Town; several aunts and uncles and 1 nephew.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 9, 2005 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Cross City with Rev. Mike Brown and Rev. Royce Hanshew officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Sink Cemetery in Old Town.

Holly F. “Buddy” Strickland, Jr.
Mr. Holly F. “Buddy” Strickland, Jr. of Fanning Springs passed away on September 2, 2005 at Nature Coast Hospital in Williston. He was 48 years old.
He is survived by his wife Frances Strickland of Fanning Springs; mother Nettie Strickland of Perry; children William F. Strickland of Perry, Brandy N. Strickland of Perry, Robin D. Sullivan, Michael Shawn Sullivan, William John Sullivan all of Fanning Springs and Gary W. Sullivan of Chiefland. He had nine grandchildren, Matthew Sullivan, Kody Nipper, Ashley Sullivan, W. Hunter Sullivan, J. Tyler Sullivan. L. Brook Sullivan, Vicki Sullivan, Ciara Nipper, and Chelsea Sullivan; sisters Betty Simmons of Perry, Dolly Miller of Perry, Rhonda Stien of Nacomas and Jill Hartman of Nacomas. He is preceded in death by his father, Holly F. Strickland, Sr.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Wilbur Lewis
Mr. Wilbur Lewis OF Cross City passed away Monday, September 5, 2005 at the Cross City Rehab after a long illness. He was 85.
Mr. Lewis lived in Dixie County for the past 25 years. He was a fisherman out of Cortez, FL until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Capo of Cross City, Sandra Markham of Lake City, FL, Wade Lewis of Bradenton, FL, Charlie Lewis and Michael Lewis both of Cross City; and 5 grandchildren.
Graveside funeral arrangements are being planned for Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 11:00 am at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Bradenton, Florida with a visitation to be held Friday evening at Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207.
James Wyatt Barrow
James Wyatt Barrow, still-born infant, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2005 at North Florida Regional Women’s Center.
Master Barrow is survived by his parents, Johnny and Anita (Browning) Barrow of Old Town; sisters, Tara Browning-Pattengale and Nora Elizabeth Barrow, both of Old Town; maternal grandmother, Margaret Masters of Eugene; paternal grandparent, Gary and Jean Barrow of Century, FL; numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Long Pond Cemetery in Eugene, FL. Arrangements were under the care of Knauff Funeral Home in Chiefland, FL.
Myrtice B. Landrum Dampier
Mrs. Myrtice B. Landrum Dampier of Cross City died Sunday, September 11, 2005 in Cross City from natural causes. She was 85.
Mrs. Dampier was born in Perry, Florida and moved to Alachua from Immokalee in 1986. She also lived in Ft. Myers 24 years. She was a homemaker and owner of Everglades Fish Camp until 1973. She was a member of Anitoch Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons Lester “Dick” Landrum Jr. of Fort Myers, E. Wade Landrum of Old Town and James Landrum of Everglades City; a stepson Wenton Dampier of Alachua; stepdaughters, Mary Evonne Bass of Lacrosse and Thelma Dampier of Melrose; sisters, Evilee Dawson of Windsor and Evangeline Bell of Day; six grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Tri-County Hospice or the charity of your choice.

Grace Martha Nier
Mrs. Grace Martha Nier of Old Town passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the Tri-County Hospice Care Center in Chiefland. She was 90 years old. She moved to this area from St. Petersburg in 1980. She was a homemaker and mother.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph H. Nier of Old Town and Michael J. Nier of Greer, South Carolina.
