Myrtle Weeks Cannon
Myrtle Weeks Cannon, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Ms. Cannon was a lover of nature, animals, gardening, and fishing. She was of the Baptist faith and is at peace with God.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Polston (Don of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Sonny Polston (Robbie G.) of Charleston, S.C. and Cynthia A. Polston of Kansas City, MO; great grandsons, Charles M. Polston (Elizabeth), Christopher Polston, Nicholas Polston of West Plains, MO; brother, Delmer Weeks (Betty) of Old Town, FL; sister, Mildred Colvin and her daughter Charlotte Lord of Old Town, FL; many nieces and nephews.

"R.T." Timmy Vann
Mr. “R.T.” Timmy Vann of Trenton passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Shands at the University of Florida after a lengthy illness. He was 55. Mr. Vann was retired from the Department of Corrections after 29 years of service. He entered the Department of Corrections in 1971 at the North Florida reception center. Three years later he moved to the Cross City Correctional Institute and was promoted to Correctional Officer 11. After 6 years at Cross City, he was transferred to Lancaster Correctional Institute where he served for 10 years as a Correctional Officer shift supervisor. He then spent 3 years at Madison Correctional Institute as a Correctional Officer Chief. In 1992, he became a Correctional Officer Colonel and transferred back to Lancaster until 1994 when he transferred to Mayo Correctional Institute where he served until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Vann was a Baptist by faith and attended Priscilla Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening.
Mr. Vann is survived by his wife, Gail Vann of Trenton; sons, Chad (Sheri) Vann of Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and Jason (Liz) Vann of Live Oak, FL; mother, Irene Vann of McAlpin, FL; brother, Jeff Vann of Hamilton, Mass; sisters, Susan Singletary of Mayo, FL and Gina Goss of Chiefland, FL; and grandchildren, Blake, Brady and Hunter.
Funeral services for Mr. Vann were held Monday, August 1, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Priscilla Baptist Church in Trenton, FL with Rev. J.O. Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Trenton City Cemetery. A visitation was held Sunday, July 31, 2005 between the hours of 4 and 7PM at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City, Fl.

Barbara A. Strine
Barbara A. Strine, 59, of Old Town, Florida passed away August 17, 2005 at her home. She worked for Derf Electronics as a sales associate for 17 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Strine. She is survived by her mother, Lucille E. Jean, her sister, Ruth E. Lisk, and her children, Regina L. Norwood, Michelle J. Narrington, Charles L. Long, and Melanie K. Luther.

Ruby Byrd Johnson
Ruby Byrd Johnson, 77, of Branford passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005 at Cross City Rehab and Health Center following a long illness.
The Lafayette county native was born July 20, 1928 the daughter of the late Lamb and Claudie Lee Byrd and lived her lifetime in the Branford area. She retired from the GE Battery Plant in Alachua, Fl with 23 years of service and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mayo, Fl.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by one daughter, Ernestine O’Steen & Frank of Cross City, Fl; a step daughter, Deloris Badger of Fanning Springs, Fl; one son, Olen Johnson of Branford, Fl; six sisters, Agnes Newsome of Kissimmee, Fl., Edna Smith of Mayo, Fl., Hazel Corbin of Branford, Fl., Lee Williams of Orlando, Fl., Berta Aue of Live Oak, Fl., Lonie Jean Sullivan of Branford, Fl.; one brother, Acie Byrd of Branford, Fl; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday August 23, 2005 in Grace Baptist Church, Mayo, Fl. with Rev. Orvis Amerson and Rev. Ed Ivey officiating. Interment followed in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Brenda Diane Bromley
Mrs. Brenda Diane Bromley, 65 years old, passed away Monday, August 1, 2005 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. Mrs. Bromley graduated from Westminister High School in 1957. She was a business manager for Bromley Animal Hospital for 46 years, and moved to Gainesville from Jena about 1 year ago. She was a member of the Peachtree United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
Mrs. Bromley is survived by her husband, Dr. C.L. Bromley of Newberry, FL; daughters, Lorie Bromley of Tallahassee, FL and Patricia Bromley of Atlanta, GA; sons, C.L. Bromley III of Rancho Sante Fe, CA, Davis Bromley of Detroit, MI, and Steven Bromley of Atlanta, GA. She has 3 grandchildren.

David Robert Thomas
Mr. David Robert Thomas, 53 years old, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2005 at this home in Steinhatchee. Mr. Thomas moved to Dixie County in 1986 from Crystal River. Mr. Thomas worked as a cabinet builder in the construction industry, and he was a Baptist.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his son, Chad Thomas (Honeck) of Clearwater; brothers, James Early Thomas of Gadsden, AL, Willard B. Thomas and Larry William Thomas both of Steinhatchee, Eugene Bryant Thomas of Crystal River; sisters, Dorothy Thomas Phillips of Newberry, Louvenia Thomas of Steinhatchee and Clarisse Thomas of New Port Richey. He had several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Early and Flavada Thomas; 2 sisters, Elvina Charles & Frances Proudfoot; and 2 brothers, Renzo & Richard Thomas.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, August 12, 2005 at 2:00pm at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Carolyn Oglesby officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 11, 2005 between the hours of 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Macie Jay Carroll
Mr. Macie Jay Carroll, 79, of Suwannee, FL passed away Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Ayers Health & Rehab in Trenton, FL. Born in Tidewater, FL, Mr. Carroll was a lifelong resident of Suwannee. He was a crab trap manufacturer by trade and Veteran of the United States Army. He loved fishing and westerns.
Mr. Carroll is survived by his daughters, Jaylene Bible of Suwannee, FL, Joanie Miller of Chiefland, FL and Connie Rowe of Cedar Key, FL; he had six grandchildren.
