Pat Land Motes
Mrs. Pat Land Motes, 76 years old, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at her son’s home in Old Town. Mrs. Motes was born in Cornersville, TN in 1928 and moved to Cross City in 1946 where she married the late J.W. Land. In 1980, she married James E. Motes of St. Petersburg, FL. Pat was a faithful and very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cross City where she served as financial secretary for over 27 years. Mrs. Motes was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Motes is survived by her husband, Jim; four brothers, Jimmy, Jerry and Spain Liles of Cross City and Jay Liles of Lewisburg, TN; five children, Karen and (Emory Armstrong of Green Cove Springs, FL, Vicki and (Mike) Ellison of Fayetteville, TN, Sherry Lawley of Jacksonville, FL, Lori Land of Cross City, FL, and Alton and (Angie) Land of Old Town, FL and two step-children, Jim Ed and (Denise) Motes and Judy and (Bob) Serata of St. Petersburg, FL; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Tyler Land of Middleburg, FL, Kyle Ellison and Trey Lawley of Jacksonville, FL, Lindsey and (DJ) Martorana of Orlando, FL, Cory, Jacob and Shelby Land of Old Town, FL and six step grandchildren of St. Petersburg.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11:00 am at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Howard Grimmenga officiating. Burial will follow at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation was held on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 between the hours of 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

John Baker
Mr. John Baker, 77, of Chiefland, Florida passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Hospice of the Tri-Counties in Chiefland. Born in Washington, DC, Mr. Baker lived in Chiefland for the past nine years. He was a mechanic by trade.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife Vera Baker of Chiefland, FL; daughter Theresa Simmons of Cross City, FL; grandchildren Lisa Vorhis and John Taylor.

Thomas Gerald Cornine, Sr.
Mr. Thomas Gerald Corrine Sr. 71 years old, passed away Tuesday, July5, 2005 at North Florida regional Medical Center. Mr. Cornine moved to Old Town in 1986 from Bangone, Maine. Mr. Cornine worked with the Radar site from 1986 to 1999 until his health forced him to retire; he was a member of the Suwannee Sinkers Dive Club and to various American Legion Post. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and he was Catholic.
Mr. Cornine is survived by his wife, Aggie Cornine of Old Town; sons, Thomas Cornine Jr. of Old Town; Patrick (Debbie) Cornine of Palm Bay; daughters, Colleen Cornine of Old Town; Joanne (Greg) Triplett of High Springs. He has 4 grandsons, and 3 granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Cornine.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8,2005 at 11:00am at Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Ed Murphy officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday July 7, 2005 between the hours of 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Arlene Mae Anttila
Arlene Mae Anttila , age 75 of Billings, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 24, 2006.
She was born April 1, 1929 to Harry and Ureta Dingwall on her great-grandmother’s farm near Killdear, North Dakota. She spent her early years on a farm in Grassy Butte, ND and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1947.
Arlene spent many years working in PTA, Scouting and Navy Mothers and worked 30 years as an election judge. She also worked for 12 years for Samplers Plus until suffering a stroke.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ureta Dingwall, an infant daughter, Vivian Kay, a son, Kevin and two granddaughters, Jennifer Churchill and Tiffany Barrett.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley of Billings, four children, Vern (Sheri) Anttila of Laurel, MT, Sheryl (Mark) Shockley of Billings, Brian Anttila of Billings, and Karen (Art) Wyckoff of Cross City, FL, her brother, Leslie Dingwall of Ellendale, ND, her beloved grandchildren, John (Samantha) Anttila, Jeff Anttila, Jerrod Anttila, Jason (Kadie) Foss, Troy (Roxanne) Shockley, Vivienne Shockley, Eric (Samantha) Shockley, Michael (Michelle) Churchill, Tracy Barrett and Clinton Barrett. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Walker Anttila, Katlyn Churchill and Elisabeth Rose Shockley.
Lorine Jean Judkins
Mrs. Lorine Jean Judkins of Old Town passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Tri County Haven Hospice Care Center in Chiefland. She was 65 years old and a life time resident of Dixie County. She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her sons, James Jerry Farina of Deltona, FL, Edwin Lewis Jackson, Jr. of Cedar Key, FL, and Edward Mark Jackson of Deltona, FL; sisters, Evelyn McClary of Old Town, FL, and Dorothy Brooke of Sanford, FL; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
A funeral service for Mrs. Judkins was held Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Vernon Coombs officiating. Burial followed at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation was held Friday, January 27, 2006.

Marjorie Christine Vititoe
Mrs. Marjorie Christine Vititoe of Old Town passed away on Monday, January 30, 2006 at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville. She was 56 years old. Mrs. Vititoe moved here in 1994 from Middleburg, Fl.
She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Lynn Alaino; son, Douglas Vititoe; brothers, Donald (Paula) Vance and Carl Vance; sister, Fran (Rocky) Wilguess and 3 grandchildren.

Clem Russell “C.R.” Bethea, Jr.
Mr. Clem Russell “C.R.” Bethea, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA passed away Friday, June 4, 2004 at the age of 85. Born in Quitman, GA, Mr. Bethea lived in Cross City for many years before moving to Cobb County, GA over 20 years ago. He retired from C.W. Matthews after 21 years of employment. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his Country during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kennesaw.
He is survived by his wife Annie Mae Clark Bethea of Kennesaw, GA; daughter Linda Willis of Acworth, GA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and Carol Gooding of Cross City; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 7, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Rev. David Huggins officiating.
