Lawrence H. Frow, Sr.
Lawrence H. Frow, Sr. of Steinhatchee, Florida passed away at North Florida Regional Medical Center on Monday, January 17, 2005 at the age of 90.
Lawrence was born in Coconut Grove Florida and was the eldest of six children. He followed his father grandfather and great grandfather in their love of the sea. He was on the water one way or another all his life, as a commercial fisherman and charter/party boat guide among other occupations.
He served during WWII with the Merchant Marines and was in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. His duty had many hazards as he was on fuel tankers carrying necessary fuel to other ships etc.
He is survived by his wife Juanita B. of Steinhatchee; one son Lawrence Jr. of Jena; two stepdaughters, Christine Hook of Dallas, TX and Gael Olson of Marathon, FL; two brothers Charles and Floyd Frow of Marathon, FL; two sisters Katherine Ciccone, Little Torch Key, FL and Lillian Orr, Miami, FL; 3 grandsons and various nephew and nieces.
Floyd Raymond Osteen
Mr. Floyd Raymond Osteen, 57 years of age and lifetime resident of Cross City, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2005 in Chiefland at the Tri-County Care Center. Mr. Osteen was a rancher. Mr. Osteen was a member of the Moose Lodge #1327, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3731 both out of Arcadia, and also the Amvets FL Post #60.
Mr. Osteen was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Osteen and 2 sisters, Pauline and Caroline.
He is survived by his mother Ruby Osteen; brothers, Larry (Ruby) Osteen, David (Janet) Osteen, Richard (Ada Jean) Osteen and William (Nan) Osteen; sisters, Lorrine Dougherty, Julia (Shorty) Smith; daughters, Sierra Osteen and Anglea Ibarra both of Arcadia; 2 granddaughters and several nieces and nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 11:00am at Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Billy Robson officiating. Burial followed at Butler Cemetery in Horseshoe Beach. A visitation was held on Tuesday, January 12, 2005 at the funeral home.

Cindy Lee Wood
Mrs. Cindy Lee Wood, 46 years old, of Cross City, passed away Monday, January 10, 2005 at North Florida Regional Medical Center, after a six-year battle with breast cancer. Mrs. Wood was a 17-year veteran with the Department of Corrections serving as a Nursing Supervisor and RN with the Cross City Correctional Institution before becoming medically retired. Mrs. Wood was a loving wife and caring mom. She was a member of the Old Town First Baptist Church. Mrs. Wood lived here for 20 years, and moved here from Vinton, Ohio.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 27 years, Kevin Wood of Cross City; her parents Harold and Wilma Pauley of Cross City; son Michael Wayne Wood of Moody Air Force Base; and daughter Jennifer Wood of Cross City.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 14, 2005 at 2:00pm at Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Royce Hanshew officiating. Burial followed at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on January 13, 2005 between the hours of 6-8pm at the funeral home.

SCHNEIDER, CARL
CARL SCHNEIDER, age 80, of Cross City, Florida, passed away April 6th at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River, Florida. "Charlie" was also known as "Kickerman" and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. He was a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean and Viet Nam Wars and was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church. "Charlie" was an N.R. A. member and a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club. He was also a "Great American".
"Charlie" is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 57 years; three daughters, Virginia S. Overstreet, Karen (Rodney) Hires, both of Cross City, Florida and Carla (Tommy) Coward of Macclenny, Florida; four grandchildren, Joshua (Mandy) Hires, Daniel (Amanda) Hires, Cameron Coward, Lena Kay (Randy) Hodges; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., at Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City, Florida. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9th, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel.

MARY KATHLEEN CARDAMONE FORD LEARY (KATHY)
MARY KATHLEEN CARDAMONE FORD LEARY (KATHY) passed away early Sunday morning, August 17, 2008 in Old Town. She was 33 years old. She was born April 7, 1975 in London, KY to JoAnn Masters Sizemore and James Franklin Sizemore, Sr. She moved to Florida with her family when she was 2 years old and moved to Old Town from New Port Richey 10 years ago. She attended Central Baptist Church in Cross City. She is survived by her parents, James and JoAnn Sizemore of Old Town; husband, Michael Paul Leary of Pennsylvania; sons, Michael Cardamone of New Port Richey and Dallas Ford of Fernandina Beach, Florida; daughter, Kennedy Marie Leary of Chiefl and; brothers, Frank (Lisa) Sizemore and John (Kelly) Sizemore, both of Old Town, and Michael David (Sandy) Sizemore of Chiefl and; sisters Pamela (Tommy) Horese and Angela (Scott) Gottman, both of Old Town; nieces, Ashley, Cally, Amanda, Sarah and Brittney. She was loved so much by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Downing offi ciating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Chad Allen Reed, Sr.
Chad Allen Reed, Sr., 33, of Cross City, Florida, a Captain with the Dixie County Sheriff’s Department, died in the line of duty on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, protecting the lives of the people around him. Born on September 24, 1976 in Perry he lived in Steinhatchee until he married and moved to Cross City, Florida.
Mr. Reed attended Steinhatchee School and graduated from Taylor County High School in l995. From an early age, he showed an extreme interest in working to help improve the lives of those around him. Beginning at the age of five, Chad assisted his father, a volunteer firefighter, in responding to emergencies. At age twelve he successfully completed his 48-Hour First Responder Course. He earned his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification during his senior year of high school and began employment with the Dixie County Emergency Medical Services upon graduation. In 2000, Mr. Reed became director of Dixie County Emergency Services and served in that position until being appointed Dixie County interim Clerk of Court by Gov. Jeb Bush in January 2005. After serving three months, he returned as Emergency Services Director. In January 2007, Chad made a career change and began service with the Dixie County Sheriff’s office.
Chad was a graduate of Lake City Community College Police Academy, the Florida State Fire College, North Florida Community College, and the FBI Academy Session 238, September 2009. He received numerous certifications related to the positions he held and served the public in many capacities, such as the Sheriff’s Office DARE coordinator for Dixie County Schools and president of the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association.
He is survived by his wife, Holly M. Reed; sons, Chad Allen Reed, Jr. and Caden Max Reed, all of Cross City, Florida; his father and mother, Broward and Faith Reed of Steinhatchee,; his father and mother-in-law, Maxie and Sue Chewning of Cross City; his brothers, Dudley (Cindy) Reed of Cross City, and Keith (Renee) Reed of Steinhatchee; sisters, Lynna Dyals of Tallahassee, and Pamela (Kimbo) Revels of Steinhatchee; sisters-in-law, Danielle Chewning of Perry and Jessica Chewning of Cross City; nephews, Heath Reed of Steinhatchee, Dylan Reed of Cross City, Tyler Reed of Tallahassee, Holden Revels and Kason Reed, both of Steinhatchee; nieces, Taylor Dyals of Tallahassee, Caylan Reed of Cross City, and McKenzi Revels of Steinhatchee; and grandparents, Grady and Freddie Hires of Jena.
Other survivors include extended family members, co-workers, friends and the many people of Dixie County he has faithfully served.
Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Juanita Reed of Jena, and his maternal grandparents, William “Dink” and Inez Ross of Steinhatchee.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Cross City. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dixie Education Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 2655, Cross City, FL 32628, for the Chad A. Reed, Sr. Scholarship Fund.

Donna Suzette Brim
Waitress
Donna Suzette Brim, 49, of Old Town died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. Ms. Brim was a lifelong resident of Dixie County.
She was a waitress who enjoyed growing flowers and taking care of her dogs. She was a member of McCrabb Baptist Church.
She is survived by brothers, Robert Harold Brim and Ricky Brim, both of Old Town, and sister Ruby Lee Brim of Old Town.
A memorial service will be held at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, March 20.
