BURNSED - Funeral services for Erma Lucille Burnsed, 95, who died Saturday, July 11, 1998 will be held Tuesday at 10 AM in George H. Hewell and Son Northside Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry T. Wilbur, officiating. Interment in Oakwood cemetery, Hilliard, FL. The family will receive friends Monday (TODAY) from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Burnsed was a native of Michigan and a longtime resident of Callahan, FL. She is of the Baptist Faith. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, the Late George Edgar Burnsed; a daughter and two sons. Survivors include 4 daughters, Leona Shirah (Chester), Ruth Higginbotham (Earl), Florence Montgomery (Bob) and Vernell Carter (Tony); 2 sons, Clifton F. Burnsed (Jeanette) and Gerard Burnsed (Sandra); 32 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Northeast, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jax, FL 32257.

EPPS - Calvin Lorenzo Epps, born August 7, 1954. He was 2nd oldest of 7 children to Mr. Carther & Earnestine Epps. He attended the Duval County School System. A member of the Inner City Ministries, Pastor Edwin Suro. He leaves to mourn a loving mother, Earnestine Ellis (Rubin Ellis); father, Carther H. Epps; sisters, Shirley Lewis, Arleen J. Lowman (Robert), Earnestine Truit; brother, Freddrick Truit (Cheryl); grandfather, John W. McKenzie and one uncle, Ruhe Lewis; also nieces and nephews, Dale, Tracey, LaShune, Robert, Markey, Daarina, Derek, Corian, Juwanna, Mario, Kashira, Sentoria Ty'resia, Tyrone, Ke'veshia, Juanita, LaRico, Detray, LaMarco, Angelo, Rachaad, Devot'e, Calandra, Khalil, Mycheel, Jackie, Adrian and dear friend Margie. He goes to join the late Mozelle McKenzie. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 1998 at 2:00 PM in the Graham-Rogers Memorial Chapel. HOLLAND - Ms. Ella Holland, a resident of 1915 Florida Ave., died July 7, 1998. Survivors include: two children, Samuel and Vantrica Holland; mother, Mrs. Fannie Holland; father, Albert Holland; sisters and brothers, Ella Clayton, Gloria Hamilton, Patricia Holland, Carolyn Holland, Beatrice Holland, Betsy Holland-Carter (Theorpia), Walter Harris and Lacomus Holland; a host of other relatives and friends, including a loving and devoted friend, Lonnie Lloyd. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Genesis Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. John F. Batts, officiating. The cortege will assemble at 1629 East 12th St. at 1:00 PM. Her remains will rest in the mortuary for visitation of friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and in the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Interment in Restlawn cemetery, by the Eastside Chapel of MARION GRAHAM MORTUARIES, 900 A. Philip Randolph Blvd.

MCCLELLAN - Lela McClellan, 70, a longtime resident of the Jacksonville area, passed away on Friday at University Medical Center. Mrs. McClellan worked for the King Edward Cigar Company for over 38 years, before retirement. Mrs. McClellan was predeceased by her late husband, James C. McClellan. Survivors include her daughters, Evonnia Kelly, Vonnia Proctor and Vellie Wirth and grandchildren, Charles Daniel Proctor, Megan Marie Wirth, Shannon Proctor and Laura Nicole Wirth. Graveside funeral services will be held in the Riverside Memorial Park cemetery, on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at the chapel on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. THOMPSON - III, Frederick J., 'Ted', died July 8th after a brief illness. Born in Dubois, PA, June 30, 1938 and lived in Jacksonville, FL since 1951. Employed by State Farm Regional Office for 43 years; he was a volunteer for the following organizations; loaned executive for United Way of Jacksonville, chairman of safety programs for American Red Cross, disaster training, CPR, first aid instructor, also a CPR instructor with the American Heart Association and he served for over 10 years with the Central Crisis Center as a training instructor. preceded in death by his father Fred J. Thompson II and sister Patricia Ann Drennan. Survivors include his wife Luciann Boyd Thompson, 3 children, Gregory C. (Judy) Sullivan, & grandchild G. Maxwell Sullivan, Lucianne Sullivan (Leif) Myhre, and Christopher B. Sullivan, mother, Doris A. Thompson, niece Melissa T. (Dale) Futch, nephew Mark Thornton and 2 grand nieces Brandi and Ashleigh Futch. A memorial service will be held 10:30AM Monday July 13th at the St. Marks Episcopal Church with father 'Bo' Etters officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, 32257.

WELLHAUSEN - Leah Griffis Wellhausen, 80, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 1998 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville. She was born in Baker County and lived in Maxville most of her life. She was a member of the Loyal Starr of America, Local #132 of Jacksonville and the First Baptist Church of Maxville. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Ernest Wellhausen, who was a retired carman, with thirty years of service for the S.C.L. Railroad and her parents the late Lacy and Penny Griffis. Survivors include her sons, Lacy (Buck) and Carolyn Wellhausen, Henry and Gail Wellhausen and Gary and Martha Wellhausen, all of Maxville; sisters-inlaw, Dora North and Addie Griffis, both of Maxville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, at 11am in the First Baptist Church of Maxville, with Rev. Richard Fish, officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch cemetery, Clay County, FL. The visitation will be Monday (today) from 9am until 9pm at Fraser Funeral Home, 712 S. 6th St., Macclenny. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Maxville.

AMBROSE - GERTRUDE AMBROSE, age 89, died Wednesday, February 11, 1998. She was retired from the King Edward Cigar Factory after over 40 years of service and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Firestone Road. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Barber and son-in-law, Jimmy; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly and Charles Barber; a niece, Barbara McGowan; 2 nephews, Jimmy and Bill Joyner; sister-in-law, 'State' Joyner and several cousins. Funeral services will be held 11AM Monday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5100 Firestone Rd. with interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-5PM Sunday at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd.

BERRY - Walter Hicks Berry, Jr., 82, went home to be with God on Wednesday, February 11, 1998 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 1, 1915. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Everett Berry and Walter H. Berry, Sr., Mr. Berry was former editor of the Florida Times Union. He served in the United States Army and is a veteran of both World War II and Korean Conflict. He was a descendant of the Hicks family who came to America from England on the next ship after the Mayflower-the ship 'Good Fortune'. He leaves to mourn his wife, Glenna Ingham Berry; his precious daughter, Jill and her husband, Neil Miranda; his sister, Betty Berry Stephenson (Mrs. John F.); two nephews, Lawrence W. Stephenson and his wife, Patty and John W. Stephenson and his wife, Sandy. Funeral services will be held on Valentines Day at 2 P.M. Saturday, February 14, 1998 at Christ Lutheran Church, 7576 San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville with Pastor James Fischer and Rev. Gerald E. Scheck officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park cemetery. Arrangements by George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South.

BUNKER - SETH RAY BUNKER, age 75, of Jacksonville Beach, died February 12, 1998. Mr. Bunker was a native of Jacksonville and was an automobile mechanic. He is survived by his lifelong friend, who was like a son, C.W. and his wife, Melanie Stanford; their son, Cecil Stanford and daughter, Allice and her husband Travis Parsons, all of Jacksonville Beach. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Feb. 14, Saturday (TODAY) in the chapel of GREEN PINE FUNERAL HOME in Yulee, with Rev. Tom Keisler of Yulee Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Green Pine cemetery in Yulee. GREEN PINE FUNERAL HOME & cemetery is in charge of arrangements.

DRUMMOND - Mrs. Erna Mae Skinner Drummond, 91, a resident of Lake Asbury, FL, died Thursday, February 12, 1998 at the Orange Park Medical Center, Orange Park, FL, after a long and beautiful life. Mrs. Drummond was a native of Eastman, GA and had resided in Lake Asbury for 20 years, moving there from Live Oak where she lived for 15 years. She graduated from the Douglas County, GA, Public School System and attended college in Eastman, GA. Mrs. Drummond was the daughter of the late Eugene and Lenna Mae Evans Skinner and was predeceased by her husband, David O. Drummond; and three daughters, Jeanne Jones, Doris Mullis and JoAnn Thomas. She was of the Baptist faith and was a Sunday School Teacher at the Baptist Temple in Jacksonville. Mrs. Drummond loved people, her children and life in general. Survivors include one son, David O. Drummond of Deland, FL; one daughter, Shirley Clemons of Lake Asbury, FL; fifteen grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild also survive. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Drummond will be conducted Monday, February 16, 1998 at 2:00 PM at Douglas cemetery in Douglas, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon between 2 and 4pm. SHERRILL-GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 616 S. Marion St. Lake City, FL is in charge of arrangements.

HATCHER - Bernard 'B.B.' Hatcher, 77, died Friday, February 13, 1998. Mr. Hatcher was a native of Harold, KY and a longtime resident of Jacksonville. He was a life member of Middleburg VFW Post #8255, Past Commander and Post Chaplain of American Legion Post #283, was a Pearl Harbor survivor and had retired from the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Fanny Hatcher; three daughters, Loene Lawson, Clara Brown and Jan Brinley; one son, Lynnie King; one brother, Wesley Hatcher; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces and 3 nephews. The family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM Saturday (TODAY) at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Harold, KY under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, KY.

BAGGETT - Master Shane Allen Baggett, age 4, of Sanderson, FL, died Monday, Feb. 9, from injuries received in an automobile accident on February 9th near Macclenny, FL. Master Baggett was born in Orange Park, FL and had resided in Sanderson, FL all of his life. He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Yolanda Baggett of Sanderson, FL; maternal grandparents, Gene and Janice Davis of Sanderson, FL; and Alton and Inet Solano, of Jacksonville, FL; maternal great-grandmother, Rosa Combs Williams of Glen St. Mary, FL; paternal grandmother, Jewel Audry Baggett of Orange Park, FL. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, Feb. 15 in the Christian Fellowship Temple, Macclenny, FL, with Rev. Leslie Thomas, Sr., Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Creek cemetery, north of Sanderson, FL. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Friday, Feb 13 and from 1 to 9 PM Saturday, Feb 14 at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, FL.

MATHEWS - Funeral services for Jerry David Mathews, 63, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 14, 1998 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S., with Dr. Thomas L. Are, officiating. Committal services and burial will be at 2PM Saturday, in Lake City Memorial cemetery, Lake City, FL with Dr. Edwin F. Montgomery, officiating. Mr. Mathews died Wednesday, February 11, 1998 at home after a lengthy illness. Born September 19, 1934 in Jacksonville, Mr. Mathews was educated in Lake City and the University of Florida. Jerry was formerly president of Neagle Outdoor Advertising. At the present time he was Cable Franchise Manager for the City of Jacksonville. Jerry was a member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church since 1967, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He was an officer for or board member of many of Jacksonville's most active organizations. He was a member of Wm. B. Barnett Lodge No. 187, F.& A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies; the York Rite Bodies; Morocco Temple of the Shrine; and the Royal Order of Jesters. He leaves behind a wife of 43 years, Barbara Stewart Mathews; three sons, William David and wife, Jacki, Michael Stewart and wife Chris, Jeremy David and wife, Sharon; six grandchildren, Sarah Ann, Bryan Stewart, Zoe Elizabeth, William Thomas, Hunter David and Megan Elaine; his sister, Barbara Seitner and husband, Robert; and his mother-in-law, Hazel Stewart. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Mathews, Sr.; and his brother, O.H. Mathews, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shrine Hospitals c/o Morocco Temple or to South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church.
