Robert J. 'Bob' Medina
Died: Wednesday, December 31, 2003
Age: 71
Born Oct. 9, 1932, in Asbury Park, N.J., he was an executive of Sears, Roebuck & Co., retiring in 1990 after 34 years of service in stateside and international locations. He was an Army veteran.
In 1992, he and his wife moved to Jacksonville Beach from Knoxville, Tenn. He was an officer and member of the board of directors of Ocean 14 condominium association for six years and was a member and past board member of the St. John’s Dinner Club and a 10-year member of the Captain’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of more than 26 years, Marge Medina; children Pastor R. Michael (Adrianna) Medina of Dallas, Walter (Julie) Medina of Clemson, S.C., Pam (Michael) Tidmore of Knoxville, Tenn., Laura (John) Kirkley of Alpharetta, Ga., and George (JoAnna) Lochen of Knoxville; brothers William (Betty) Medina of Louisville, Ky., and Ernest (Melinda) Medina of Jacksonville; sister Carmen (Wendell) Miller of Ponte Vedra Beach; grandchildren Ashley, Brady, Lianna, Jennifer, Kayleigh, Miles and Jay, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of Mr. Medina’s life was held Jan. 6 in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, with Pastor R. Michael Medina officiating. The Beaches Honor Guard will provide military honors. A reception will follow in the community room of Ocean 14. Interment will be held at Arlington National cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the LWM Medina Ministry Autistic Fund, P.O. Box 765062, Dallas, Texas, 75376-5062, in honor of his grandson, Miles Christian Tidmore. Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.

James Oliver Weimer
Born in Bayou LaFourche, LA on Jul. 9, 1921
Departed on Jul. 19, 2007 and resided in Orange Park, FL.
WEIMER - Funeral services for CDR. James O. Weimer, USN (Ret.), 86, will be held 2PM Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in the chapel at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME 111 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, Florida with Father Robert Trujillo officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens cemetery with full military honors. CDR. Weimer served his country proudly in the United States Navy retiring after 25 years of decorated service serving in the Pacific. Following his retirement from the Navy CDR. Weimer went to work for JEA and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Mr. Weimer is survived by his loving wife, Margaret O. Weimer; daughter, Sharon W. Stanton three sons, Robert L. Weimer and his wife Jenny, Thomas P. Weimer and his wife Michelle, and Geoffrey P. Weimer and his wife Sharon; step-daughter, Kathy M. Head and her husband David; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Tommy, Merideth, Ashley, Cayman, Erin and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Hayley, Garrett and Carli, and many other loving family members and friends. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5PM-7PM at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME.

Lawanna Snowden
Lawanna Earl Snowden, 86, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and caring friend to all who knew her. Lawanna was born on October 11, 1928 in Jacksonville, FL, to the late James and Bertie Roberson. She is preceded in death by her loving husband William Snowden. Lawanna is survived by her sons William E. Grove, Thomas A. Grove; grandsons Tavis A. Grove, Matthew T. Grove, Sean T. Perrine; granddaughters Kellie T. Grove, Kimberly Ann Grove and Christina Lynn. Family will receive friends at Arlington Park cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211, for a graveside service on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10:00am.

Henrietta Valaska Mann
Died: Wednesday, December 31, 2003
Age: 84
She was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Washington, D.C., and moved to the Jacksonville area in 1989. She retired in 1980 from Seagram’s as an accounting manager after 30 years of service. She was a Catholic.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita (John) Quinlan of Ponte Vedra Beach; brothers Ronald Hoffman of Clinton, Md., and Joseph Hoffman of Onego, W.Va.; sister Lorraine Coombe of Palm Coast, Fla.; grandchildren Robert Johnson, Paul Johnson and Connie Quinlan, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 7, in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.

Mrs Peggy Florence Emily Bagwell
December 3, 1932 - January 24, 2013
Jacksonville, Florida - Peggy Florence Emily Bagwell, 80, entered into rest on January 24, 2013. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She was born on December 3, 1932 in Mileham, England to the late Mr. and Mrs. Farrow. She moved to the United States with her husband, Joseph Bagwell in 1955. She enjoyed knitting and adored British comedies. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joe and daughter Lynnette Perkins. She is survived by her sons, Jim (Melinda) Bagwell and Charlie Bagwell; grandchildren, Jeannette Perkins and Joseph Alton Bagwell and other extended family along with some treasured friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida from 3-5pm. A graveside service will be on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 9am at Arlington Park cemetery.

Robert J. Dahlke
Robert J. Dahlke beloved father, grandfather and friend went to be with his Lord, and wife of 55 years on January 11, 2012. Bob was born in Buffalo, NY to Franklin and Dorothy Dahlke. He proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Navy; he also served the city of Jacksonville and the people of Deermeadows Baptist Church. Cooking was Bob’s passion, but his family was his heart. He attended Faith Family Fellowship where he was a greeter and enjoyed making lifelong friends. Bob is preceded in death by his soul mate Betty and is survived by two daughters, Laura (Elkins) Tucker and Kerry (Ron) Hall; a son, Franklin (Samantha) Dahlke; grandchildren Kris (Laura), Kerry Ann (Paul), James (Jennifer), Brandon (Mandy), Shannon, Ron Jr., Elisabeth and Elijah; great grandchildren Jordan, Brook Lynn, Autumn, Nathan and Garrett. We will receive friends from 6 until 8p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home; 4140 University Blvd., S. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens; 850 St. Johns Bluff Road, N. Arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home

Linton 'Gene' Floyd III
Died: Wednesday, December 31, 2003
Age: 80
Born in Pensacola, Fla., he attended Orlando High School and was graduated from Fletcher High School, Neptune Beach, and the University of Florida, Gainesville. He moved to Gainesville from Manilus, N.Y., in 1964. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having served in the 13th and 82 airborne.
He was an industrial systems engineer who held numerous patents for General Electric in the fiber optics industry. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, the Florida Blue Key, Sons of the American Revolution and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Fuller floyd, and his sister, Elinor Van Dyke.
He is survived by a daughter, Jane F. Bullen of Tallahassee; sons Linton E. Floyd IV of Beltsville, Md., and John W. Floyd of Hawthorne, Fla., and grandchildren Ashley Nicole Tatum, Mary Jane Floyd and William Floyd Bullen.
A funeral service was held Jan. 6 at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Robert Battles officiating. Burial is in Warren Smith cemetery, Jacksonville Beach. Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, Gainesville.

Judson Hollis Hayes
May 11, 1925 - February 2, 2014
U.S. Veteran - Judson Hollis Hayes, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 after a short illness. Mr. Hayes was born May 11, 1925 in Mansfield, Georgia to Judson Charles Hayes and Frances L’Angel David Hayes. He was predeceased by his parents and all six older siblings. He was a Veteran of World War II having retired from the U. S. Navy. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years Gwendolyn Hayes in 2008. They very much enjoyed growing and tending to their large variety of African Violets and attended many flower shows together. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Georgia “Bulldogs.” Survivors include his daughters, Diane Cohan (Jerry), Betty Williamson (Colin) and Melanie Power; sons, Duane Hayes (Bobbi) and Russell Williams (Annamarie); 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Mr. Hayes family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, February 6, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, February 7, 2014 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home with Rev. Colin Williamson (Ret.) officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials made in Mr. Hayes memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Carolyn Miller Allers
Died: Monday, December 29, 2003
Age: 67
She was born Oct. 31, 1936.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Chrowder, Kimberly Fifer, Catharene Boyd and Caroline Labous; her sister, Cathy Price, and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Jan. 2 at St. Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Dr. Sudduth Cummings officiating. Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.

Rita Lucille Frankoski
Born in Arnold, PA on Mar. 23, 1930
Departed on Jul. 14, 2007 and resided in Orange Park, FL.
FRANKOSKI - Rita Lucille Frankoski, 77 of Orange Park, FL passed away on July 14, 2007. She was born March 23, 1930 in Arnold, PA, the daughter of Joseph Tomayko and Mary Bizup Tomayko. She was a long time, dedicated member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, and a volunteer with Labor Ready where she dedicated her time and talents to feeding the poor of our community. Survivors include her son Edward J. Frankoski and his wife Michele; her grandchildren Chelsea, Kevin, Lauren, and Joseph; also her sister Dorothy Mikula and many friends from her church home at St. Catherine’s. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday July 18, 2007 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park with Fr. James R. Boddie, Jr., Celebrant. Mrs. Frankoski will be laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery in her home town of Arnold, PA at a later date. Family members will greet friends on Tuesday evening (TONIGHT) from 5-7 PM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park.

Krystal Thelma Long Duss
Died: Wednesday, December 10, 2003
Age: 29
Born March 5, 1974, she was a 1992 graduate of Orange Park High School and was a business manager of J. Duss Painting Co. She was a member of Southpoint Community Church.
She is survived by her husband, John Joseph Duss III; 1-year-old twin sons Daniel Joseph Duss and Andrew Glenn Duss; parents Glenn Arthur Long II, Jo Ann and Don Webb; sisters Kina Long-Rewis, Karen Long Lanier and Kelly Long Duke, and grandparents Henry Clay Locke Sr. and Georgialee Wagner.
A memorial service was held Jan. 3 at Southpoint Community Church, 7950 Belfort Parkway, Suite 900, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trust in Daniel and Andrew Duss’ name, C/O the Duss Family at Southpoint Community Church or Educational Community Credit Union, savings account # 254811, P.O. Margaret B. Tanner
Died: Tuesday, February 17, 2004
She was born in Louisville, Ky., and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1994 from Crescent City, Fla., where she had resided since 1979.
She retired from the Jefferson County School District in Louisville and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. She was an active member of Palms Presbyterian Church and the Long Time Newcomers Club. Her husband of 50 years, Robert W. Tanner, predeceased her in 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Golden of Ponte Vedra Beach; sister Martha Holzknecht of Louisville; granddaughters Alison Bitner of Miami and Leslie Golden of Ponte Vedra Beach; three nephews, and one niece.
A celebration of life service was held Thursday in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, with the Rev. Thomas Walker and the Rev. Carol DiGiusto officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, in the Resthaven cemetery of Louisville, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palms Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville Beach.

MARVIN L. LYELL
1915-2009
Marvin L. Lyell, 93 of St. Augustine, Fl, passed away at Moultrie Creek Nursing Home. Mr. Lyell was born June 22, 1915 in Lauderdale County, TN. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1948 and retired from U.S. Civil Service at NAS Pensacola after 30 years of service. He moved to Jacksonville in 1989 where he was a member of Arlington Assembly of God. He has been a resident of St. Augustine since 2003.

Patricia Magee
Died: Tuesday, February 17, 2004
Born Dec. 31, 1931, in New Castle, Ind., she attended Indiana University and worked as a bookkeeper and legal secretary. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Beach United Methodist Church, Sawgrass Players Club Women’s Association, where she was president in 1998-99, and Long Time Newcomers of the Beaches. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Alonzo Magee.
She is survived by sons David Jr. and Terry Magee, and grandchildren Megan, Joshua, Kirsten, and Ryan.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a .m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Todd Funeral Home, 34 W. Main St., Knightstown, Ind., 46148, with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 20.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Local arrangements by Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.

Felecia Christine Henderson Caron
Felecia Christine Henderson Caron 77, a long time resident of Jacksonville passed away April 8, 2012. A native of Madison, Florida, she attended Grace Chapel, along with the love of her family she loved fishing and singing, she was a member of the Springfield Lions Club, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Caron is survived by 1 daughter Debra L. Lunsford (Richard), 1 sister Betty Morgan (John), 4 grandchildren Meredith Reimer (Timmy), Rebecca Hammond (Joshua), Rick Lunsford Jr., and Lauren Caron, 5 great grandchildren, Jacob Reimer, Travis Reimer, Thomas Reimer, Brantley Hammond, and Jackson Hammond, a niece Glenda Morgan (George), a nephew Rodney Davis (Anita), and a daughter-in-law Michelle Caron. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday (TODAY) at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main St. Jacksonville, FL 32206. A graveside funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday in Riverside Memorial Park (East) with Rev. Dave Malmberg officiating.
