Mrs. Karen Hopper Ott
April 27, 1959 - April 10, 2009
Jacksonville, Florida - Karen Hopper-Ott, age 49, passed away on April 10, 2009 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Karen is finally able to rest. Her courage and determination were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She is a graduate of Terry Parker High School and USF. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin; parents, Tom and Carolyn Hopper; sister, Ellen Larson; nephews, Robby Larson and Brandon Holmes; nieces, Bethany Larson and Haley Holmes; an aunt and uncle from South Carolina, Joseph and Judy Hopper. Also missing her dearly are friends and in-laws from around the country. Included are: Jeff, Kate, Jaden, Sue and Izzy, JoAnne, Barbie and Donnie, and Carolyn, Larry, Karen and Mark. She is loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to NE Florida Community Hospice.

Frank Neece
Frank E. Neece, 60, went home to be with the Lord March 15, 2015. A beloved husband, wonderful father and true man of God, Frank was born on January 6, 1955 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. He worked at CSX Transportation as a Director in the Mechanical department for 40 years, with plans to retire in April. Frank faithfully served his Savior. Through the years Frank served in numerous areas of his church. He especially enjoyed being an usher. Frank was an active member of The Gideon’s International and served on the Board of Directors of Sidewalk Funday School as well as the weekly activities of the ministry, an outreach to children in lower income neighborhoods.
Frank is survived by Beth, his devoted wife of nineteen years, daughters Amy and Abby, who were the apple of his eye; parents Floyd and Patsy of Franklin, Tennessee; brothers Jimmy (Carol) of Fruitcove, Florida and Justin (Michelle) of Franklin, Tennessee as well as 2 nieces and a nephew.
The family will receive visitors tonight (Wednesday) from 5:00 – 7:00 at Arlington Funeral Home. Funeral services for Frank will be held Thursday, March 19 at First Baptist Church downtown at 11:00 in the Hobson Auditorium, with interment to follow in the Arlington Memorial Park cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gideon’s International or Sidewalk Funday School.

Mr. Theodore Troupe Turner
December 25, 1921 - July 15, 2012
Jacksonville, Florida - T.Troupe Turner, 90, entered into rest on July 15, 2012. He was born on December 25, 1921 in Las Vegas, NM to the Late Paul A. and Della M. Turner. He is predeceased by his wife of 49 beautiful years, Madeline E. Turner. He is survived by his son, Lawrence "Larry" P. Turner; cousins, Carolyn Kuehl, Helen Bourquin and Linda Turner; nephew and nieces, David Lawrence III, Ellen Pesko, Patricia Weisz, Cathy Shadwick, Karen Smith and Phyllis Rawls, and numerous treasured friends. Troupe was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 66, Bowie, MD, the Knights of Columbus Council 4727 and KofC Holy Trinity Assembly # 2368. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 10-10:45am at Christ The King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road North, Jacksonville, Florida and mass will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be held immediately after in Arlington Park cemetery. Family will greet friends at the church for fellowship following the interment.

Eleanor Perkins
Died: Saturday, September 27, 2003
Age: 77
She was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Savannah, Ga., and had lived in the Jacksonville area most of her life.
She was a member of Palms Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville Beach, and past president of the Woman’s Association of Palms. She was a former member of the Daughter of the Nile and the Sheba Club and was a longtime member of the Ladies 9 Hole Association at the Oak Bridge Golf Club. Mrs. Perkins was a retired senior claims representative of Hartford Insurance Group.
She was predeceased by her son, James E. Perkins, sister, Fay Tucker, and brother, James Penn.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward George Perkins; daughter Judith P. Pringle; sisters Helen Ebersole of St. Augustine, Virginia Ebersole of Hypoluxo, Fla., and Ann Tredinick and Barbara Tschannen, both of Ponte Vedra Beach; brother Harold Penn of Waycross, Ga.; grandchildren Stacy Perkins and Jonathon E. Pringle, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 1, in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Palms Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Thomas Walker and the Rev. Carol DiGiusto officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2850 Isabella Blvd., Suite 20, Jacksonville Beach, 32250, or to the Hospice Foundation for Caring, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, 32257.

Imagene Hurst
November 11, 1943 - April 29, 2013
Memorial services for Imagene Hurst (69) of Bryceville, Florida, formerly of Live Oak, Florida and Willacoochee, Georgia, will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2013 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home. Imagene was born on November 11, 1943 in Willacoochee, Georgia, daughter of the late Jerry Jack Cribb and the former Mary Elizabeth Floyd. She passed away April 29, 2013 following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her children, Robby Cribb (Tracy), Kelly Douglas (Jimmy), Karen DeWitt (Michael), Kim Terranova (Glen) and Jeremy Taylor; grandchildren, Lisa Cribb, Jennifer Cribb, Tiffany Miller, Ashley Miller, Hannah Miller, Adam Taylor, Abby Bolstein, Lindsey DeWitt, Chad Taylor, Cody Terranova, Zachary Terranova, Kierstin Taylor and Tristyn Taylor; 17 great grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.

Dorothy Ann Roberts Lunda
Dorothy Ann Roberts Lunda, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on January 11, 2012, following a long illness.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Louis Lunda, and two children: Eric J. Lunda and Robin L. Vanderwal (son-in-law Richard). She is also survived by four grandchildren and three cousins.
Dorothy was born on October 8, 1927 to Clemadean and Clyde Roberts of Baldwinsville, New York. Following her mother's death in 1932, Dorothy was raised by her grandmother, Rosa Reid, and her uncle, John Reid, in cooperation with her father. She graduated from Baldwinsville Academy and after a period of study at Syracuse University, went on to graduate from Powelson Business College for Young Women. She accepted a secretarial position for General Electric Company, where she worked until after her marriage to Donald on February 26, 1949. Donald's career took their family to Syracuse, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Chicago, and finally to Jacksonville, where they have lived since 1981.
Wherever life took them, Dorothy was well-known and admired for her leadership and organizational skills, as well as her thoughtful, loving, and caring consideration for others. The primary purpose of her life was to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, within her community and in her church. This purpose was demonstrated through her active participation in numerous civic organizations, which included serving as PTA President, co-founding the Mandarin Newcomers' Club, and co-founding the Women's Auxiliary of Hospice North East Florida.
Dorothy also served as Chair of the Christian Women's Club in both Philadelphia and Chicago, and was an active member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church for over 25 years, where she served as Presbyterian Women's Moderator, Church Elder, Chair of the Evangelism and Worship Committees, Search Committee member, Church Librarian, and most recently, Chair of Homebound Ministries. Dorothy was honored with the 2001 Honorary Membership Award and was recognized as a South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church Living Saint for her service to Christ, His Church, and her community.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church on 'Monday January 16 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in Harvin Hall.
Dr. Vincent Kolb and the Reverend Susan Takis will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church.

Suzanne Guadagno
Died: Saturday, September 27, 2003
Age: 62
Born Feb. 3, 1941, in Newburgh, N.Y., she moved to Ponte Vedra 18 years ago.
She retired from First Union Bank and traveled extensively with her husband. She attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach. Her brother, William Houston, predeceased her.
She is survived by her husband, Michael John Guadagno; daughters Christine (Seymour) Martin of Conway, S.C., and Lisa (David Patrick) Paul of Jacksonville; sisters Barbara Pointer of Richmond, Va., and Amy Finnegan of New Windsor, N.Y., four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 1, in the Cultural Center of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with the Rev. Christopher Liguori as celebrant. Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.
Burial will be in Palm Valley cemetery.

Hattie Smith
Hattie Leo Smith, age 84, passed away March 27, 2015 after a brief illness. Leo was born on May 25, 1930 and was the eldest child of Anderson “Joe” Boykin and Mable Reardon Smith in Manning, South Carolina. She graduated from Salem High School in 1947. Leo played basketball and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by husbands James D. Lane and Howren F. “Bill” Hawkins, Jr.; Brother Bobby Joe Smith and grandson Frederick “Fritz” Anderson Osborne. Leo is survived by her sister Lottie Mae Floyd; sister-in-law Frankie (Smith) Duke: three children: Steven L. (Chris) Lane, Thetis L. (Ted) Ricks, and Karen L. (Lawrence) Osborne; seven grandchildren: Lawrence Stephen Osborne, Christy Lane (Brain) Nexsen, Kandace L. (Herbert) Blanton, Karissa L. (Frank) Young, Jessica L. Osborne, James Hunter (Holly) Lane, Ted A. Ricks; ten great-grandchildren: Shelby Blanton, Lochlon Harshman, Trent Harshman, Cody Blake Nexsen, Chance Blanton, Connor Lane Nexsen, Hattie Leah-Ann Young, Laney Grace Nexsen, Reagen Blakely Lane, and Avery Kate Lane. Leo also had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was an active member of Peace Presbyterian Church and served the Lord by singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school participating as a Presbyterian Women Bible Moderator and Elder. Leo devoted her life to caring for children of all ages as displayed in her active participation in Christian Education in the church, Children’s Choir and her care of infants and children, for more than 30 years, at “Leo’s Day Care”.
A Visitation well be held at Arlington Funeral Home and cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Fl. 32211 on Saturday April 4, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Peace Presbyterian Church, 2300 Southside Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32216 on Monday April 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm. With a procession and interment to follow at Arlington Park cemetery 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Fl. 32211. A reception will then be held back at the church.

Virgil Edward Posten, Jr.
January 9, 1948 - February 7, 2014
U.S. Veteran - Virgil Edward Posten, Jr., 66, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born in Cordova, AL he served in the US Marines from 1966 – 1970, including 1969-1970 in Vietnam. He and Peggy Clark Posten married in 1970 and he retired from US Gypsum as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, chess and time on his computer. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His surviving family includes: his wife, Peggy Posten; a daughter, Mary (Michael Yeargin) Posten; a son, Christopher Posten; 2 sisters, Gail Jones and Karen Suits; 3 brothers, Paul, Dennis and Doug Posten; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Caitlyn, and Douglas; and a great granddaughter, Eryka. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 12 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Cremation will follow.

Brodie "Flail" Konrad Thompson
Died: Friday, September 26, 2003
Age: 30
Born March 27, 1973, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Thompson was a resident of Neptune Beach since the age of 5. He graduated from Fletcher High School and spent much of his time traveling. He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly, and his father, C. Herman Thompson.
He is survived by his brother, Clinton Brady Thompson of Neptune Beach and other relatives.
A celebration of his life will be held 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at European Street Cafe, 5500 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville.

Ada L. "Coonie" Pritchard
Funeral services for Ada L. “Coonie” Pritchard, 72, who died November 14, 2011, will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM in The Good Samaritan Church, 44 Jericho Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, with Rev. David Collins Sr., and Dr. David S. Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday (Today) from 6-8 PM at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Mrs. Pritchard was born in Jacksonville, Florida and was a lifelong resident. She was an active member of The Good Samaritan Church and was a faithful prayer warrior and a sweet devoted loving Christian lady. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Thomas S. Pritchard Sr.; 2 sons, Thomas S. Pritchard Jr., and Kevin Pritchard (Charlotte); 2 sisters, Faye Cogburn and Diane Brandies (Stan); 2 brothers, Joseph Long (Connie), and Eugene Long. 3 granddaughters, Cassidy Pritchard, Whitney Croxton (Jeff), and Marisa Pritchard. 1 great-grandson, Garrett Croxton; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Mr. Willmer Jerome Otto
October 4, 1937 - January 18, 2013
Jacksonville, Florida - Bill (Willmer) Jerome Otto, 75, died January 18, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He was born October 4, 1937 in Warroad, MN, to the late Hattie and Albert Otto. He graduated from International Falls High School in International Falls, MN. He joined the United States Navy in 1955 and served this nation for 26 years, a Vietnam Veteran and staunch Patriot.
Bill was a graduate of FL Community College and a small business owner in Jacksonville, FL. He owned and operated real estate offices and an auto repair shop after he retired from military service. He was a long-time member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
The family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care he received from Dr. Miten Patel and the staff at Cancer Specialists of North FL and the Short Stay and Critical Care Units at Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of 41 years. His survivors include his children Teresa Otto of Jacksonville, FL; Sandra Perez and her children Michelle, Rey, and Luis, all of Corpus Christi, TX; LCDR (Ret) Michael Otto and his wife Helen and their children Victoria and Kevin of Jacksonville, FL; Sean (Jill) Breen of Garden City, MI; Christopher (Lieanne) Breen of Tampa, FL; Jennifer (Roger) Ralls of Jacksonville, NC; John Otto of Los Angeles, CA, and his daughter Angelyna of Highland, Indiana. He is also survived by his siblings Willard (Tish) Otto of Ray, MN; Laurence (Carol) Otto of Warroad, MN; Judy (Romane) Mortenson of Warroad, MN; Kenneth (Diane) Otto of Ray, MN; and Peg (Jeff) Tweten of Glyndon, MN. In addition, he is survived by his aunt Amelia (Tootie) Janson of Warroad, MN; and sister-in-law Nancy (Dr. Carl) White and their son Andrew of Columbia, SC.
Funeral services will be held on 25 January 2013 at 2pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church; 7801 Lone Star Road; Jacksonville, FL 32211 with the Reverend Mark Atkinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm in the Parish Hall. Burial will be immediately following the service at Arlington Park Funeral Home at 6920 Lone Star Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Foundation; 7801 Lone Star Road; Jacksonville, FL 32211.

Jack R. Ledig

U.S. Veteran - Jack R. Ledig born in 1934 passed away peacefully on Friday February 14 2014. He was born in Irvington, NJ to Norma and Fred Ledig. He grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Landon High School. He served in the US Army and attended the University of Florida. He leaves behind his wife Katharine of 54 years, two sons Mark, John (Shannon), a daughter Mary Villademoros (Stephen), six grandchildren Victoria Roberts, Tiffany Roberts, Katharine Ledig, Jack Ledig, Mark Ledig, Shannon Ledig and one great-grandchild Brayden Barry. Services will be held Friday February 21, 2014 11:00 A.M. at Resurrection Catholic Church.

Jack D. Varnell
Born: January 01, 1952
Died: November 16, 2014
Jackie Dean Varnell Jr. (The Man in Black), 62 of Chatsworth, GA, passed away of cardiac arrest on November 16, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.
Jack Varnell Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 1, 1952. He was the first child to Willie Mae and Jack Varnell Sr. Jack grew up in Florida, working many jobs in maintenance, plumbing and electrical. He worked as VP of Operations at the Clarkson Company for 15 years.
Jack enjoyed watching his children play sports, listening to music especially country, raising and training dogs as well horses, and spending time with his family. He had a kind heart, quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father Jackie Dean Varnell Sr.; a brother Gary Varnell and his first wife Linda Rea Varnell.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his mother Willie Mae Varnell of Winter Park, FL; his loving wife Brenda Jackson Varnell of Chatsworth, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Ashley Varnell of Jacksonville, FL; two sons and a daughter, Josh Varnell, Isaiah Varnell, and Maddison Varnell of Chatsworth, GA; two step-children, Jessica Jackson and Wesley Jackson of Chatsworth, GA; four brothers and their wives, Chuck and Helen Varnell, Mark and Sandy Varnell, Jimmy Varnell and David Varnell all of Orlando, FL; his cherished granddaughter, Emerson Arnold of Jacksonville, FL and grandson Riley Steele of Mckinney, TX; a very special niece Traci (Princess) Ivey of Jacksonville, FL, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
The relatives and friends of Jack Varnell are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday November 22, 2014 at 3 pm and the family will receive friends on November 21, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm, both in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home & Crematory, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, FL.
