Phyllis Smith
Phyllis Smith passed on April 16, 2011 at the age of forty-eight. She was born in Crowley, LA on October 1, 1962 to Leroy and Elaine Bernard.
Phyllis has touched many lives through her 48 years, moving around the globe with her military family. Whether brief meetings or lifelong friendships, in Phyllis’ eyes everyone was family and she left a piece of herself with everyone she encountered.
Phyllis’ friends and family remember her as a caring woman who looked at shopping as an art form, loved painting ceramics and spending time in Orlando with her best friend, Mickey Mouse. But the things that Phyllis treasured most was her relationship with God, her incredible family, her dear friends, and a meaningful career with the Navy Federal Credit Union. It was Phyllis’ desire that everyone would have an opportunity to come to know God, the Father and Jesus, His Son.
Phyllis is survived first by her husband Mitchell Smith and two children; Ashley and Brandon; her brother; Ivan; and sisters; Stephanie, Theresa and Joan.
Her family knows that she was smiling and laughing strong enough for all the angels to know she was on her way to spend eternity with them; she would want for us to do nothing but the same.
