He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Logan County, W. Va. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorthea Toy Johnson.
He is survived by children Joetta Kirk of Sanford, Fla., Shrea Emma Davidson of Holmes Beach, Fla., and Tonda Hopkins of Bent Mountain, Va.; sisters Emma Wyatt of Atlantic Beach, Opal McCallister of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Georgia Lee Hill of Pensacola, Fla., and Stella Kisamore of Charleston, W. Va.; brothers Raymond Brown of Canton, Ga., and Roby Brown Jr. of South Shore, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A service was held at Bethel Renewal Church on St. Johns Bluff Road, with Dr. Richard M. Lyon, pastor and nephew of Mr. Brown, officiating. Burial will be in South Shore, Ky., where a graveside service will be held Oct. 11. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, St. Johns Bluff Road, Jacksonville.
Mr. Bernard Michael Lotito
June 5, 1921 - January 18, 2013
Middleburg, Florida - Bernard Michael Lotito, 91, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. He was a loving husband, devoted brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and caring friend to all who knew him. Bernard was born in New York on May 6, 1921 to the late Michael and Anna Lotito. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Hazel Lotito. Bernard served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Matagorda as a Radio Man. Family will receive friends at Arlington Park cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, for a graveside service on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2:00pm.
Sina Braddock Long
Sina Braddock Long, born in Baldwin, FL, to Maybell and Clarence Braddock in 1928, died January 6, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry D. Long, her son Mark S. Long, four sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include daughters Kathy Long of Jacksonville, Karen Eastman (Jack) of Houston, TX, step-daughter Camille McDougald of Duluth, GA, brothers Marvin Braddock (Frances) and Everette Braddock (Joyce) of Baldwin, sister MayBelle Whitehead of Keystone Hts., niece who was like a sister La Mar Glisson of Fleming Island, two grandchildren, April Howard (Scot) and Scott McDougald (Dawn), and five great-grandchildren.
She moved back to Jacksonville after living in Brunswick and Stone Mountain, Georgia for 47 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church downtown and loved to play bridge at the Mandarin Senior Citizen Center.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 am and the service at 12:00 pm on Tuesday January 10, 2012 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. Private burial will be held on Wednesday in Brunswick, GA.

Charles Herman "Herm" Thompson
Died: Saturday, September 06, 2003
Age: 70
He was born July 20, 1933 in Lynchburg, Va. He was retired from the Air Force and was an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration for more than 20 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Thompson, in 1984. His son, Brodie Thompson, died Sept. 26, 2003.
He is survived by his son Clinton Brady Thompson of Neptune Beach and other relatives.
A celebration of his life will be held 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at European Street Cafe, 5500 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville.

NATION - Noemi Nation, born June 18, 1949. On July 16, 2007 she went to sleep and through God’s good grace she passed into the next life. Rejoice for her. She left behind her husband of 41 years, three children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Lewis E. Bruton
Lewis E. Bruton, 93, died February 15, 2012. Mr. Bruton was one of 4 sons of A. L. Bruton and Mabel Gene Bruton. He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida and was a lifelong resident. He was a member of the North Jacksonville Baptist Church and had retired from Carpenters Local #627. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. #6922 and a longtime member of the American Legion Post #9. Mr. Bruton was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years the late Elouise K. Bruton. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Evie Bruton; a number of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206, with Rev. Grant Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery with Military Honors.
Margaret Josephine Betsworth Johnson
Died: Monday, August 11, 2003
Age: 84
Born in Hugoton, Kan., Sept. 12, 1918, she was graduated from Hugoton High School in 1935 and moved to California.
In 1954, the family moved to Jacksonville and in 1962 to McLean, Va., where Mrs. Johnson worked for the Department of the Navy at the Pentagon. In 1976, at the age of 56, she graduated magna cum laude from North Virginia School of Nursing and maintained her nursing studies until her death. After returning to Florida in the late 1970s, she moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1980. She was a member of the Ponte Vedra Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon L. Johnson, in 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Nord L. Johnson of Deland, Fla., and Neal L. Johnson of Fulton, Mo, ; grandchildren Mary N. Cloud of Whiteland, Ind., and Nord L. Johnson Jr. of Helena, Mont., and four great-grandchildren.
Following cremation, a private service will be held in Hugoton at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice. Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.

Mrs. Myrtice W. Lites, 90, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014. Mrs. Lites was a member of CrossroadsBaptistChurch, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 20, 2014, with Pastor Anthony Rister officiating. Interment will be at Mikesville Presbyterian Church cemetery, Mikesville, Florida, at 2:00 PM. Mrs. Lites was predeceased by her husband, Richard Lites; her son, Gilbert; and her daughter, Anita. Survivors include 3 daughters: Faye (Jimmy) Carter, Margaret Simon and Barbara (Richard) Berlin; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. Dorothy Suto
Dorothy Marie Suto, 79, entered into rest on November 30, 2014. She is remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother and trusted friend. She was born on May 10, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Harry and Thelma Bierline. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Elmer Suto. She is survived by her children, Alexander T. Suto (Sandy), Eric D. Suto (Christa) and Kimberly Steele (Timothy); grandchildren, Eric G. Suto, Amanda M. Suto, Jennifer Steele and Melissa Steele. A private family service will be held to honor her life.
Louis P. Dyjak Jr.
Died: Monday, August 11, 2003
Age: 21
Born Aug. 28, 1981 in Jacksonville, he was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville Beach and was a 1999 graduate of Fletcher High School.
He was an electrician apprentice with North East Florida Builders Association and was employed by Brooks and Limbaugh Electric Co. He was an avid body boarder.
He is survived by his parents, Rhoda and Louis Dyjak Sr.; sister Elaine Dyjak; grandparents Elaine and Eugene Ornatowski of Alpena, Mich., and Barb Partlo of Gladwin, Mich., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Flora Nell Jefson
June 4, 1927 - January 26, 2013
Jacksonville, Florida - Mrs. Flora Nell "Mickey" Jefson, 85, entered into rest peacefully on January 26, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She is remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Mickey was born in Dawson County, Georgia on June 4, 1927 to Rufus Berry and Daisy Ellen Whitmire. She was the youngest of the ten Whitmire children.
Mickey attended North Georgia College and went on to graduate with a B.A. in Psychology from Georgia State University. She continued her education at Atlanta Law School where she received her L.L.B. and L.L.M. After which she passed the Georgia Bar Exam in 1955 and became a certified attorney. While in Atlanta, she met Stan Jefson, the love of her life, and married
him on April 23, 1960. They had two beautiful children, Rob and Julie. After a brief move to Cleveland, Ohio, the couple settled in Jacksonville, Florida where they lived out their lives. Here they had their third child, Mary. Mickey furthered her lifelong love of education by receiving her Master's and Ph.D. in Education from Florida State University. She taught for 19 years in the Duval County Public School System where she was an outstanding teacher and was recognized for her achievements and received the Business Educator of the Year Award for the state of Florida. Mickey has been a longtime member of Parkwood Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her husband and family and treasured the time she spent with them. She will be loved and remembered by all.
Mickey is preceded in the death by her husband, Stanley R. Jefson. She is survived by her children, Stanley "Rob" Jefson, Jr., Julie Jefson Hamilton and Mary Jane Smith; grandchildren, Katie and Nicky, as well as her loving sister, Jewell Fouts of Atlanta, Georgia.
Family will receive friends on Thursday January 31, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 am at Arlington Park cemetery across from the funeral home. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Earlene Bainbridge Holton
Died: Wednesday, December 03, 2003
Age: 74
A native Floridian, she retired from AT&T; in 1990. She was a volunteer and involved in many Beaches activities, including the A1A Parrot Head Club, Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol, BEAM, Beaches Aquatic Center pool, Neptune Beach Senior Activity Center, Sea Horse Florist, Dancin’ in the Street, Gator football, Suwanee SpringFest and MagnoliaFest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Henry E. Holton, and sisters Betty Jo Odom and Earnestine Hunter.
She is survived by daughters Marsha (Lee) Holton, Neptune Beach, Patsy (John) Bishop, Atlantic Beach, and Robin (Harry) Holton of Jacksonville; brothers Wayne (Barbara) Bainbridge of North Carolina and Raymond (Dot) Bainbridge of Gainesville, Fl.; sister Martha Lee LeCheminant of Daytona Beach, Fl.; grandchildren Emilie and Johnny Bishop and Alexander Hoffman, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Dockside LaCruise Restaurant in Mayport Village, next to the Mayport ferry. She is survived by daughters Hailey and Jordan; father Michael Guthrie; mother Tina Guthrie; grandparents James and Judy Manning and Mike and Sharon Guthrie, great-grandmother Dorothy Swiger, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gertrude Bessie "Trudie" Riggs
Gertrude Bessie “Trudie” Riggs 98, a long time resident of Jacksonville passed away September 23, 2011. A native of McAdenville, N. C. she was a homemaker, a Jehovah’s Witness by faith, and had owned and operated Trudie’s Tavern on North Main Street for over fifty years. She is survived by 2 daughters: Jennifer L. Dillon, and Rose Ann Johnson, 1 son: Peter S. Reynolds, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. William Gerald Rawlins Jr.
Died: Saturday, November 29, 2003
Age: 55
Born October 3, 1948, in Jacksonville, he was graduated from Ribault High School in 1968 and joined the military, first serving in the Navy and then the Army National Guard. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam on the U.S.S. Forrestal. and also served in the Gulf war.
After retiring from the military after 26 years, he was an environmental specialist for Zabel Environmental Technology. He loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the North American Hunting Club, Terrall’s Hunting Club and the St. Augustine Skeet Club.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judith “Jan” Nurse Rawlins; son William Gerald Rawlins III; daughter Judith “Jodie” Allison (Brian) Reeves; sisters Nancy, Margaret and Mary Frances; brothers Harry (Jan) Nurse and Larry (Debbie) Nourse; grandson Jacob William Reeves, as well as nieces and nephews, two uncles and an aunt.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 3, in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Albert Byrd officiating. Interment will be in the Ponte Vedra Valley cemetery with full military honors after the service
