Winston Thompson
Mr. Winston Irwin Thompson, was a dearly beloved Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, and Cousin. He was born on November 20, 1978 to Eartha Mack and the late Hayward Thompson, Sr. He attended the local school and was a graduate of Terry Parker High School class of 1997. He owned and operated “THE CUT ABOVE BARBER SHOP” (TCA) in the Arlington Area since 2002 until his untimely death on January 31, 2015. Winston will be celebrated and his memories cherished by his Mother, Eartha Mack, Daughter, Shalyn Thompson and Son, Winston Thompson II (mother, Shannon Sanders) Sisters: Diane Joseph, Sheileyette Thompson, Shavette Jackson (Kevin); Brother: Michael Thompson; Aunts: Rosa L. Smith, Helen R. Williams (Lawrence) the late Joann Walker and Harriett Jacobs (Glenn) and a host of devoted Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives and EXCEPTIONALLY DEVOTED FRIENDS (TOO MANY TO NAME).
Winston was a very caring man that donated his time and skills to Barbers for Babies. In addition, he was a volunteer Pop Warner Football Coach since 2007 and he also sponsored the Feed the Community events in Bruce Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Friday, February 6, 2015 in the chapel of the funeral home. Corinne B. Wells, 89, a long time resident of Jacksonville passed away March 19, 2012 after a long illness. A native of Sherman, N. C. she had resided in Jacksonville since 1945, was a home maker, was a member of North Jacksonville Church of the Nazarene, and was the widow of Roy O. Wells who passed away in 1982. Mrs. Wells is survived by 1 daughter Marsha Schoenberg (Charles), 1 son Chris A. Wells (Sue), 4 grandchildren Jeremy Wells, Kimberly Schoenberg, Tina Neal, Shannon Sneed, and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Thursday at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main St. Jacksonville, FL 32206. A graveside funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday in Evergreen cemetery with Rev. Eddie (John Edward) Hill, 58 of Jacksonville, FL passed away on December 24, 2011. A funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10AM in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South. Mr. Hill is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Edna A. Hill of Jacksonville; two stepsons; Christopher Deming and Richard Deming, both of Chesnee, SC. His mother, Phyllis Hill, of Jacksonville, a sister, Penny Baxter of Jacksonville and two brothers; Ricky Hill and Gene Hill both of Jacksonville, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hill was a proud member of Moose Lodge 455. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 between the hours of 6-8PM.

Natalie Walden English, age 87, passed away on November 11, 2010 in Dacula, Georgia. Her husband of 55 years, John W. English, Jr. preceded her in death. Mrs. English was born in Waycross, Georgia. She was a long-time resident of Jacksonville, and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She retired from GMAC with over 30 years of service. She was a devoted and loving, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Mrs. English enjoyed her club and charity work as a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star; a member of the Daughters of the Nile, and the Southside Women’s Club. She was also a volunteer poll worker for many years. She remained a member of the First Christian Church of the Beaches in Jacksonville but attended Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula. She was loved by all who knew her for her sweet spirit and beautiful smile.

Carl Leroy Morrison, 67, born July 28, 1947 in Miami, Florida to Frank Kenneth and Dorothy Jean Seymour Morrison, passed away February 6, 2015 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.Carl was a member of VFW Post 129 and loved living in and around the Jacksonville Beaches. In his last days he enjoyed reading the Holy Bible, a special gift given to him by his Sister, Linda. He was preceded in death by his Father; Brothers, Bobby Morrison, Larry Morrison and a Mother-In-Law, Ruby McClanahan. Carl is survived by his Mother, Dorothy Jean Seymour Morrison; Children, Sonya (Danny, Sr.) Stalnaker, Paulene (Steve) Burns; Grandchildren, Autumn Stalnaker, Danny Stalnaker, Jr., Amber Burns, Brandon Burns and Michael Joseph Seibert. A Visitation Gathering is scheduled for 11AM to 12 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in the Chapel of the funeral home. Betty LaVarne Padgett, 80, passed away November 5, 2010. She was born in Waycross, GA . Betty was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Lakeshore United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities, most notably as President of the United Methodist Women. She was employed as Office Manager with Jay Carter State Farm Insurance Agency.

James Douglas Roach, Sr., 65 years of age, a loving husband and father, went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2009. Mr. Roach passed away at McGraw Hospice Center after an extended illness. A native of Jacksonville, he graduated from Landon High School, Florida Community College at Jacksonville, and attended University of North Florida. Mr. Roach was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, an entrepreneur, and enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry.

He was transferred from Norfolk, VA to SIMA in Mayport, FL in 1974. He was a member of Norview Masonic Lodge #113 since 1964, Order of Eastern Star #131, Fleet Reserve Assoc. #290, and the American Legion #129.

We love you Mom and will miss you so much. You are with the Lord, rest in peace. A big “Thank You” to all the folks at Life Care Center of Orange Park for all you did for us. We always felt the love. Also a big “Thank You” to Rainbow A of Hospice for helping us through the most difficult part of Mom’s life, you were a blessing to us.

Julia Shahood Rady passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 7, 2011. Julia was a Jacksonville native and proud graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1950. She was also a dedicated and lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral at which she served as a Vestry member, Directress of the Sanctuary Guild, member of the Order of the Daughters of the King, and in numerous other ministries in her church parish and the Episcopal Diocese of Florida. Julia was a founding member of the Cathedral Gerontology Auxiliary where she served as its President for more than 25 years. She was also a member of the Salaam Club, Molaka Club, the Homs Charity Club and the Syrian Women’s Charity Society. She was the grateful daughter of George and Mary Shahood, loving sister of Mary Maida and Fee Shahood and devoted cousin of Dee Asker; all of whom she has joined in eternal life.

RMCM Leland A. Anderson, USN Ret., passed away Monday, August 3, 2009.
He is survived by Betty, his wife of 46 years; daughters, Julia Agresta and Pam Ptaszynski; four granddaughters; one great grandson and brother Richard Anderson. He is going to be missed and is beloved by all.
A wake will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the family’s home.

Austin Curtis Cunkle
Austin Curtis Cunkle, Age 80, died on March 20, 2012. Born to the late Austin C. and Dora Cunkle of San Antonio, TX, on July 21, 1931, "Curt", as he was known to friends, moved to Jacksonville in 1955 after graduating from the University of Florida. A Gator standout, he later coached basketball at Ribault High School from 1957-1961, and was honored in 1961 by the Florida Times Union as Jacksonville’s High School coach of the year. Afterwards, he was employed by Universal Southern and earned the role of Vice President of Sales until his retirement in 1986.
Curt had a lifelong passion for the University of Florida. He was a Gator basketball player from 1951 – 1953, and part of the 1951 team which started 10-0, a Gator record which stood for over half a century. Curt earned 1st team All Southeastern Conference in 1953, and was also the first Gator to make all SEC in basketball since the 1920's. In 1988, Curt was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame.
Curt's legacy continues with children and grandchildren who loved him dearly and bleed orange and blue. He left a lasting impression with many young men who grew up in Jacksonville with his disciplined but fair coaching style. He volunteered his time umpiring and refereeing athletic events and utilized his love for athletics to mentor and shape the lives of young men.
Curt was a proud father, loving grandfather and loyal friend. He is survived by his son Austin Curtis Cunkle III, daughters Dana Dianne Summerall and Casey Jean Cunkle, grandchildren Austin, Will, and Lindsey Cunkle and Charlotte, Emily, Sarah and Marian Summerall.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26th at Beach United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 325 7th Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, 32250. A post-funeral gathering will follow the ceremony. The family wishes to extend thanks to all concerned for all of their thoughts and prayers.
William Jeffrey McHugh, Jr.
William Jeffrey McHugh, Jr., 51, long time resident of Atlantic Beach passed away peacefully on September 27th with family and friends by his side. Willie was originally of Youngstown, Ohio where he leaves behind his Mother Joann McHugh, Sister Deborah Schultz, Grandparents Mary DiIanni and Wilferd McHugh, Sr., Aunt Mary Lou Perry, Uncle Claude DiIanni and Uncle Nelson T. Jr. He is preceded in death by his beloved father William “Bill” McHugh, Sr. and most cherished Uncle Louis DiIanni.
Willie was a seasoned brick mason, with a passion for restoring vintage motorcycles and automobiles, who generously shared his skills with many friends and neighbors. He also had close family and friends in Atlantic Beach, which include his Brother Patrick McHugh and Sister-in- Law Lisa, Nephew Patrick “Popeye”, Niece Heather and too many friends to name, who will truly miss his big heart and unbridled spirit.
The McHugh family would like to extend special thanks to Jenny Harley and Heather Michelle Smith for their continued Hospice support.
A celebration of his spirit will take place in Atlantic Beach at a later time.

Jacksonville, Florida - Jodie Ann Netts (Watson) 3-24-1936 / 11-30-2012. Jodie Ann Netts (Watson) passed away peacefully on November 30, 2012 with members of her family by her side. Jodie was born March 24, 1939 in Springfield, Ohio to Dorothy and Walter Netts of Netts Floral Co. She spent many years of her life in Ohio and raised a family of 5 daughters prior to relocating to Florida in 1985. Her passions were art, woodwork and needlecraft. She spent most of her free time working on projects to share with family and friends. Jodie is survived by her 5 daughters Karen Davis, Laurie Reinheimer, Susie Reinheimer, Greta & Randall Hackney, Heidi & Mark Arbuckle; and her 11 grandchildren. At Jodie's request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Jodie's name to St. Jude's Children Fund.
