Candayce M. Valerio passed away on September 18, 2010 in Community Hospice of NE FL, McGraw Center after a long and very brave battle with cancer.
She was born March 6, 1958 in Columbus, OH, growing up in Mississippi. She then moved to Jacksonville, FL beginning her career in 1984. She was an established and very popular stylist in the Riverside/Avondale area for 27 years. Her devoted clientele became a “family” of friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Cannon (Pat) of Mississippi. Survived by her beloved 17 year old daughter, Graison Julia Caras, “the light of her life”; sister Juliann Cannon; brother Mark Cannon (Sheila); a beloved Uncle Phillip Pennington (Cindy); aunt, Dorothy Crews; and special friend, Bette Mackoul.
Her family thanks Christ Church and especially Father Bob and it’s parishioners for their love, devotion, prayers as well as financial support during her illness and to her many wonderful friends for their love, prayers and support. God bless you all.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 15th, in Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Avenue, Ponte Vedra, FL.

Dorothy Mae Croasdell Haines
Dorothy Mae Croasdell Haines was born in Jacksonville in 1926 to R. Leroy Croasdell and Myrtle McVey Croasdell. She passed away Saturday June 25, 2011 at the age of 85.
Dorothy (Dottie) was predeceased by her parents and a sister Marian. She is survived by her husband, L. Daniel (Dan) Haines, Jr., her son, David R. Haines (Elizabeth A.), a granddaughter, Allison A. Knutson (Travis), and a great-granddaughter, Kaelin Dorothy Knutson.
Dorothy grew up on Trout River and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1943. She joined the Episcopal Church in Gainesville while husband Dan attended the University of Florida. She studied art while in Gainesville and exhibited her paintings many times throughout her active life. Dottie loved the river and water sports throughout her life. In her late teenage years she taught rowing at Camp Immokalee and was a mascot of the Jacksonville Beach Lifesaving Corps. Later in life she taught synchronized swimming at
Selva Marina Country Club where she also served as President of the Ladies Golf Association.
After returning to Jacksonville from Gainesville, Dottie was a founding member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Arlington and served as E.Y.C. youth director for many years. She and Dan enjoyed lake-front living in Keystone Heights for 19 years from 1972 to 1991 and was active in St Anne’s Episcopal Church acting as part time Treasurer. Dottie also served as President of the Keystone Heights Ladies Golf Association. She and Dan moved to Atlantic Beach in 1971 and was a member of St. Paul's By the Sea until her death. She loved her many friends and delighted in entertaining at home throughout her life and enjoyed riding her bicycle through the Atlantic Beach neighborhood in her later years.
A memorial service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., on Thursday June 30, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Gerry Walston officiating.
In lieu of flowers friends may make gifts to St. Paul's By The Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach or the charity of their choice.
Margaret Anne Seidel
Margaret Anne Seidel, 74, of Jacksonville went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2011.
Margaret, daughter of Ernest and Kathleen Breakspear, was born in Wantage, England on September 15, 1937.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She is survived by her husband Harold J. Seidel “Tiny”. They were married
for 54 years. Margaret enjoyed traveling as a military wife, living in many places through the years. Margaret always stayed close to her family in England. Her devotion to raising her children also extended to many years of teaching in early childhood education.
Margaret is also survived by her 5 children Harold J. Seidel Jr. (Gale); Kathleen Umstetter; Margaret Howell (Dave); David W. Seidel (Lorraine) & Elizabeth M. Hendry (Jerry).
She is survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She is further survived by 3 brothers Grahame Breakspear (Jenny); David Breakspear (Kathy) & Kenny Breakspear (Maria) and 1 sister Joy Barrett.
Her life was an inspiration to many.

Mariquita Profitt
Mariquita Profitt born July 13, 1939 to James and Carrie Williams in St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on Febuary 14, 2015 in Jacksonville. She is survived by her sister Jennette McKibben, brother John Williams, daughter Martha Tenpenny, son & daughter-in-law Kenneth & Janie Richards, grandchildren, JD Biggs, Jamie Davis, Christopher & Hellen Richards, great-grandchildren Joshua, Marcus, DJ, Alex and Olivia. Mom was a strong passionate women, working as a registered nurse for 30 years, then going into the Automotive and Marine upholstery business for 25 years in Nashville, Tennessee then moving to Crystal River, Florida in 1991. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Dunnellon, Florida, doing activities with friends and the community. She loved to make costumes for herself and others, for the activities such as club meetings, ringing the bell for the collection pot at Christmas, and the local parades. She enjoyed making quilts for family and friends. She will be truely missed.
Services will be held at Englewood Christian Church on Barnes Road. Visitation at 12 noon and the services at 1pm, Friday Febuary 27th, 2015, by Pastor Ken Gemeinhart.
Julia Bray Fiorentino
June 15, 1927 - February 21, 2014
FIORENTINO - Julia Bray Fiorentino, Shortly after midnight on February 21, 2014, Dr. Julia Bray Fiorentino went home to be with the Lord after a lifetime of service as a mother, grandmother, teacher, minister, missionary, evangelist and Bible college president. She was 86 years old, born June 15, 1927 in Longwood, North Carolina, the daughter of Arthur Tilden Bray and Martha Jane “Mattie” Bray. She was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Martin Fiorentino Sr. and four brothers Forrest Rudolph Bray, Lucius Barnwell Bray, Reverend Arthur Lawrence Bray and Jack Bray. She is survived by her two children, Thomas Martin Fiorentino Jr. (Mary Baer) and Kathy Fiorentino-Patten (David), four grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Fiorentino, Caroline McKay Fiorentino, Thomas Martin Fiorentino III, Elizabeth Kathryn Baer, one great-grandson Sebastian Maddox Baer, and sister-in-law Nell Grantham Bray. She is survived by nieces Martha Lennon (Dennis), Linda Reehl (Tommy), Carol Arnette (Ed), Becky Sloan, Beverly Carroll (David), Jeannie Marlow, Ellie Dale (Jeff) and nephew Art Bray and was predeceased by nephew Morris Bray. She attended local public schools where she matriculated from Fairmont High School. After graduation she attended East Carolina University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She began her teaching career in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Massey Hill High School. On August 28, 1952 she married
Tommy Fiorentino of Brooklyn, New York after meeting at a military extension class she was teaching and he was attending in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. They began their family in Wilmington, North Carolina where she taught at New Hanover High School and he was employed by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Shortly thereafter they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she was a teacher at Terry Parker High School and Fort Caroline Junior High School where she later became Assistant Principal. It was there she touched hundreds of young lives pioneering team teaching in algebra with Rose Board and sponsoring the Terry and Andrew after school prayer group. In the early 1970s, she founded Christian Joy Fellowship, a world evangelical ministry and she will forever be remembered for her motto “You are the Apple of God’s Eye.” She went on to get her Master of Education Degree from the University of North Florida and a Doctor of Education Degree from Nova University and a Doctor of Ministry of Education from Luther Rice Seminary. Armed with a master’s degree and two doctorates she began in the full-time ministry traveling to over 50 countries in 40 years. She was particularly active in India, Indonesia and the Philippines where she helped start churches and support orphanages. Even after a stroke and being confined to a wheelchair she traveled to Mexico and across the United States preaching the Gospel. In 1981, she founded Zoe College, a Christian college in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1996, Zoe College became Zoe University where she served as President and Chancellor Emeritus until her death. At Zoe University she was instrumental in preparing thousands of students for work as Christian teachers, counselors, missionaries and ministers. She started educational clusters affiliated with Zoe University in India, the Philippines, the Netherlands, the Bahamas and in several U.S. prisons. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Society, served on the Board of Directors for Teen Challenge of North Florida and received the Counselor of the Year Award from Christian Counseling Today. In 1982-83 she was Chair of the Duval County School System Teacher Education Center and also served as President of the Florida Association of Secondary School Principals Assistant Principal Advisory Board. She was the author of six books, including God’s Done It Again! and One Step at a Time With God.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening February 28, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesary Boulevard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning March 1, at New Life Christian Fellowship at 2701 Hodges Boulevard. John (Johnny) W. Pate
John (Johnny) W. Pate passed away on June 23, 2011. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 2, 1921. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1939 and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1948 with a bachelor of Administration degree. He served as a Navy Pilot in World War II. Johnny was an owner of General Signs where he was in the electric sign business until his retirement in 1995.
Mr. Pate was predeceased by his loving wife, Maggie. He is survived by his step-son, Les Randolph, daughter-in-law, Nicole Randolph, granddaughters, Leslee and Katie and his trusted friend, Charlotte Brewer.

Michael Stevenson Barrett
Michael Stevenson Barrett, 32, of Atlantic Beach, FL passed away June 22, 2011 at Shands UF of Gainesville.
He was born October 9, 1978 in Miami, FL to Lisa Stevenson Holloway and Edward Mitchell "Ted" Barrett, Jr.
He was a former employee of Foundations Systems and Equipment of Atlantic Beach, FL.
He is preceded in death by two grandmothers, Pat Stevenson and Rita Barrett, and a grandfather, James Stevenson.
Survivors include his finance’ Monica Alesi and her two children, Desiree’ Thompson and Elizabeth Rusu, his mother Lisa and her husband Daniel Holloway. His father Ted Barrett and fraternal grandfather Edward Mitchell "Mike" Barrett, Sr. Four siblings, brothers Patrick Barrett – his wife Dawn and Caleb Holloway; sisters Lindsay Barrett and Ella Holloway, two nephews; Ethan Barrett and Oliver Barrett; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends that will miss him very much.
A memorial service is scheduled for July 16, 2011, 11:00 am at Al’s Pizza in Atlantic Beach – everyone is welcome to come celebrate his life.
Pauline A. Newsome
Pauline A. Newsome, 87, surrounded by family and loved ones, gave up the fight with cancer on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 5:06 pm and entered into eternal rest.
Mrs. Newsome was born in Millen, GA on November 16, 1923. Proud parents, John and Alice Addison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
She leaves to mourn; one daughter, Alene (Talmage) Frazier of Miami FL, two sons, Walter (Yvonne) Davis Jr, and Resa Davis of Jacksonville FL: four sisters, Lou Moore of Pa, Celie Byrd of Swainsboro GA, Madie Jennings, of Ocala FL, Frances Baldwin of Jacksonville FL: one brother, Alexander Addison of Crescent City FL, a devoted sister-in-law, Alma Newsome of Tampa, FL, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Esther Norris
Esther Norris passed away November 14, 2011, at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Meriwether County, Georgia on March 23, 1922. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles, mother Edna Murphy, father, Bud Murphy, brother, Pat Murphy, brother, Joseph Murphy and sister, Roena Skinner. Remaining family members include son, Bob Norris (Verna), and daughter, Peggy Percifield (Jack), 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church and Ruth Grace Sunday School class. She was a longtime supporter of Inland Baptist Church. She retired from the Duval County School Board and enjoyed traveling and visiting her extended family. She will be missed for her beautiful laugh, positive and enthusiastic attitude and love of life. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206 with Rev. Chris Coram and Rev. Ralph Dean officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery. Norma L. Maurice, 79, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away February 17, 2015 at Brookdale Atrium Way under the loving care of the nurses and other staff. She was born October 11, 1935 in Lawrence County, Lukin Township, IL. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Metz and Lowela Adamson Metz. She was a career housewife who lovingly cared for her late husband, Roger L. Maurice and deceased precious son, Bobby D. Maurice. She is survived by her son, Roger D. Maurice of Jacksonville and brother, Ivan Metz. She is also survived by her dear Sister In Law, Margaret M. Davison and many nephews and nieces including Michael D. Davison, Donald F. Davison and Wesley A. Davison of Jacksonville, FL and their children. She is also survived by nephews, Alan Pearson, Charles Pearson of Lancaster, IL and Curtis Dudley of Mt. Carmel, IL and their children. Because Mom was a career housewife who loved her children and pets, she will be buried with her favorite pet, Gizmoe Maurice. She leaves behind her precious babies, Pinky Maurice and Gidget Maurice to celebrate her life and love. Mom loved the company of others, going to garage sales and thrift stores collecting fine jewelry. During her final days she showed great courage, dignity and grace as she struggled with the disease that took her life. Her favorite poem was Rainbow Bridge where she is now and back in the loving company of family and faithful pets. A Visitation Gathering will be held 6-8PM, Monday, February 23, 2015 in the chapel of the funeral home. A Graveside Celebration of Life will take place 11AM, Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Arlington Park cemetery with Rev. Al Hicks officiating.
