SHAAR - Eunice N. Shaar, 75, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, December 16, 2000. Mrs. Shaar has been a resident of the Jacksonville area since 1954 and was a member of Gospel Lighthouse husband of 52 years, Robert M. Shaar, son, Paul Shaar (Judith), daughters, Patricia Caudell (Mike), Barbara Alexander (Paul), and Linda Carlson (Gary), sister, Gladys Strain, and 5 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2000, 11:00 AM in the chapel of JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL with Rev. SILVERIO - Dr. Armando Silverio, born July 7, 1922, Turtle Creek, PA., retired Baptist minister and missionary, went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Geneva; brothers Edward, Richard and Rudolph; his children Beverly Barilla, Milton Silverio, and Henry Silverio; eight grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. The viewing will be from 4:00 PM8:00 PM at the Anastasia Baptist Church on Anastasia Blvd. in St. Augustine, FL. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 a the Anastasia Baptist Church. Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

BONNEY - Thurston Jones Bonney, 84, died of cancer January 21, 2001 in a local hospital. Born in Knotts Island, NC, he had lived in New York City most of his life where he worked for Alcoa Steamship Company and moved to Jacksonville in 1993. Mr. Bonney was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and is survived by 3 children, Mary Anne McGlyn of Brooklyn, NY, Cathleen Howarth of Jacksonville, FL and David Bonney of Regensburg, Germany, sister, Peggy Kiracofe of Norfolk, VA, 7 grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00A.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in Jan Jose Catholic Church with Fr. James Moss officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection cemetery on Staten Island, NY. CALDWELL - Joe Jack Caldwell, 72, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2001. Born in Boldman, Kentucky, he moved to Jacksonville as a child and lived here all of his life. During World War II, Joe served aboard Minesweepers in the U.S. Navy. After the war, he served as Director of Glen Myra Playground. He later owned and operated several restaurants and lounges, lastly Joe Jacks Package Store & Lounge. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and was an Honorary Shriner. Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Yvonne Caldwell, two children, Phil Powell and Colleen Caldwell, and his sister, Marcella Oakes (Robert). Monsignor John Lenihan will lead Memorial services at 3:00 PM TODAY in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
COPE - Kathryn Parish Cope died Friday, January 19, 2001 in Savannah, Georgia where she was born and lived all her life. She was the wife of John Lovell Cope (Who had been president of The Reliance Fertilizer Company founded in Savannah by his father, Robert Sydney Cope). Mrs. Cope was well known and loved in her church, community and Savannah circles. She received her degree from the School of Speech at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, graduating in 1929. Kitty and Jack were married
in April, 1930 at The Independent Presbyterian Church where they were life-long members. Twin daughters and a son, John Lovell Cope, Jr. were born of their marriage. Mrs. Cope is survived by those daughters, Mrs. James M. (Jean) Ennis, Jr. and Mrs. Joan C. Paez, both of Savannah. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. James R. Sweat of Atlanta, her brothers-in-law, Captain (USN, Ret.) Alfred L. Cope of San Diego and James E. Cope of Savannah, her cousins, Jack Averitt and Hal Averitt of Statesboro and by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Kitty lived with her family at Isle of Hope first in the Pierpont Cottage, and then for forty-five years on Bluff Drive. In 1979 she and Mr. Cope moved to The Landings on Skidaway Island. She belonged to the Van Puffelen Forum and the Morning Circle at The Independent Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Cope became a ' professional' on the Betty Broughton Show on WSAV Radio. She is remembered by many as the ' star' of the Kitty Cope Show, first talk show talents on TV in the country. For a time she was a member of the PEO, a husbands hobby of camelia growing. She was involved with the arranging of those flowers in Camelia Society shows in various southern cities where he was often a judge and president of the society. A private graveside service will be held at Greenwich cemetery Tuesday, January 23. It will be followed by a memorial service and reception at the Independent Presbyterian Church Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Bull St. and Oglethorpe Avenue. Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Drayton Chapel.
COVIL - Edward Grayson, 76, died at his home on January 22nd. Mr. Covil was born in Marines, North Carolina (now Camp Le Jeune) on November 1, 1924. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He started his railroad career in 1942 with the former Atlantic Coastline Railroad, Wilmington, NC. He moved to Jacksonville in 1961 where he continued his career with the railroad (CSX Transportation, formerly Seaboard Coastline) and retired in 1983 as Assistant Vice President of Financial Planning. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jean Pullen Covil, Jacksonville, daughters Grayson Covil of New York City and Lorrie Stuart, her husband, Robert and granddaughter, Lauren Stuart of Jacksonville. He is also survived by two brothers, Norwood Covin and William Covin of Burgaw, North Carolina. He was a member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church and San Jose Country Club. He was a past member of the Association of American Railroads, National Association of Accountants and the Wilmington, North Carolina Kiwanis Club. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Robert Stuart of Palm Coast, Florida. Honorary Pallbearers are Walter Babcock, Raymond Bullard, Wilford Harrington, Robert Stuart, Robert Thomas, Kenneth Ward, and Joe Miller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6PM to 8PM on Tuesday evening. DONNALLEY - Gladys P. Donnalley, 78, passed away Sunday January 21, 2001, at her home in Ponte Vedra Beach. She was born in Lemmon, South Dakota and was a member of Palms Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Donnalley was also a graduate of the University of Minnesota, class of 1946, a member of P.E.O., AAUW, and the Tri-Del. Soreity. preceded in death by her husband James R. Donnalley, Jr, survivors include two daughters Susan Henderson of Cary, NC, Parry Mothershead of Juneau, AL, and son James R. Donnalley, III of Evergreen, CO, and four grandchildren. EMERY - Thelma S. Emery, aged 98 passed away January 19, 2001. Born in 1903, Dale County, AL, she came to Jacksonville in 1935. She is preceded in death by her son Henry W. Wells and daughter Elizabeth W. Brinson and survived by her daughter Naomi W. Brown of Jacksonville, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great- grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 1 nephew. She was a member of Chapter 1142 Women Of The Moose in Ocala, FL and an Aux. Member of the American Legion Post 137 in Jacksonville, FL. Per her request she will be cremated. A long time resident of Jacksonville, she was employed with Globe Security at Jacksonville International Airport and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. She is survived by her mother, Minnie Kennedy; husband, Franklin D. Ferrell, Sr.; 2 sons, Franklin D. Ferrell, Jr. and Joel Edward Ferrell; 2 daughters, Kimberly Page (Lindsey) and Anna Louise Thompson; 2 sisters, Catherine Laping and Kacy Kennedy; 6 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Joseph W. Geiger, Jr.; daughters, Donna Lynn Geiger (Charles) Scaff and Tina Marie Geiger (Jack) Stegall; a son, Joseph W. Geiger, III; a brother, John H. Sapp; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. HUFFMAN - Mrs. Mattie Leon Logsdon Huffman, 73, died Sunday, January 21, 2001 at her home in Jacksonville. Mrs. Huffman was born September 29, 1927 in Stanford, Kentucky. She was a member of Crossroads Church in Jacksonville. Survivors include her husband, Paul Helm Huffman; her daughter, Linda Sue Huffman, both of Jacksonville; two sons, Paul Lawrence Huffman of Louisville, Kentucky and Wayne Brooks Huffman of Columbia City, Indiana; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and four great grandchildren. JONES - Annette Rogers Jones, 72, widow of Jesse Dallas Jones, went home to be with her Lord, January 21, 2001 at her home. A native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, she attended Christian Family Chapel and was a member of San Jose Country Club. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Ann Jones (Malcolm), 2 grandchildren, J. Malcolm Jones, III and Whitney Dallas Jones and her very special friend, Margaret Curran. She cared for and ministered in so many ways to all she knew. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M. Thursday, January 25, 2001 at Christian Family Chapel, 10365 Old St. Augustine Rd. with Pastor Timothy Lusk officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn cemetery.
