STANLEY BALCERAK
Mr. Stanley Balcerak, age 78 of Blountstown, Fla. died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at his home. Mr. Balcerak was born in Gary, Indiana and had lived in Blountstown since 1976 coming from Merrillville, Indiana. Stanley was a retired Steel Mill worker and a veteran of W.W. II serving his Country in the United States Army. Survivors include one son and a daughter in law, Chris and Theresa Balcerak of Eagle, Idaho; two daughters and sons in law: Karen and Robert Vaughn of Panama City and Jody and Greg Layfield of Clarksville; six grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. ROSELLA J. BLANKENSHIP
Mrs. Rosella J. Blankenship, age 55, of Altha died Friday, April 11, 2003 at Calhoun-Liberty Hospital. Mrs. Blankenship was a person who stayed very busy. She was always doing what she could for others and always put others first. She also loved her grandchildren very much. Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her father, Kirby Davis, Sr., her mother Margret Davis, and her brother Joe Davis. REV. ROY DAUGHTREY
Reverend Roy Daughtrey, 89, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at his home. Mr. Daughtrey was born June 1, 1913 to the late Lula and James Westley Daughtrey. He was a native and life long resident of Bristol and was ordained as a minister June 28, 1964. On June 1, 1977, he married Willie Lee Nelson. He was the pastor of many churches and had assisted in the ground breaking of the Trammell Bridge. Survivors include two sons, Jerry J. Daughtrey and his wife, Deidre, and Joe Nathan Daughtrey; two stepsons, Willie Truman Grant and his wife, Jackie, and Donald Williams and his wife, Mary; three granddaughters, Cassie, Barbara and Neesha; a step-grandson he raised, Patrick Coleman; several other step-grandchildren; a special niece, Yvette Carlos; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM EST today, Thursday, April 17, from the Humility Missionary Baptist Church near Bristol. Interment will follow in the Humility Cemetery. Mrs. Nellie Fowler Norris, 92, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, April 11, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Norris was born in Walton County and had lived in Calhoun County for most of her life. Survivors include one son, James Hubert Fowler and his wife, Oletha, of Panama City; four daughters, Jewell Laramore of Panama City, Larene Hall and her husband, Dewey, of Altha, Bonnie Hall and her husband, Angus, of Altha and Shirley Segers and her husband, Terry, of Bristol; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Michael (Mike) Roy O’Bryan, Jr., age 45 of Crestview, Fl. died April 8, 2003 in Crestview. Mr. O’Bryan was born in Blountstown and was a Ranch Hand and Horseman. Mrs. Mary Mae Parker, 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Monday, April 7, 2003, in Mayville, Tennessee. CARLOS “BULL” CAUSSEY
Mr. Carlos “Bull” Caussey, 82, of Grand Ridge, passed away Friday, September 26, 2003 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna. Mr. Caussey was retired from the Department of Corrections and the military, serving in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. Survivors include one sister, Margarie Lewis of Sweetwater, TX and her husband, Jack; a nephew, Randall Causey of St. Angelo, TX; special friends, Sam and Donna Ball of Cherokee, NC; and special caregivers, Joy and Cecil Branch, Kelley Branch, Lamar Branch, Margaret Branch and Harold and Judy Branch of Grand Ridge. Mr. Michael Hillard Hammock, 45, of Bristol, passed away Thursday, September 25 at his home. Mr. Hammock was born in Port St. Joe, had lived in Liberty County for three years, and was a local Blountstown businessman. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Gregory Hammock of Bristol; his mother, Elizabeth Wize of Hendersonville, TN; one daughter, Shana Melissa Hammock of Port St. Joe; and two sisters, JoBeth Buell of Tallahassee and Jacque Simmons of Hendersonville, TN. HERMAN HITCHCOCK
Mr. Herman Hitchcock, 81, of Marianna, passed away Friday, September 26, 2003 at his home. Mr. Hitchcock had lived in Marianna for the past 20 years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marianna. He was a retired master plumber and a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Nora Hitchcock of Marianna; a son, Walt H. Hitchcock of Queen Creek, Arizona; a brother, Ed Hitchcock of Clarksville; a sister, Ruby Lee Miller of Clarksville; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. WILEY “J.W.” HOLLINGTON
Mr. J.W. Hollington, age 71, of Freeport, FL, passed from this life to be in the presence of his loving Father on September 23, 2003. He was born on March 5, 1932 in Calhoun County, the son of the late Andrew and Clara Hollington. J.W.’s life was marked by an absolute love for his family, friends, and community. He served ten years in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military career, he worked ten years at Eglin Air Force Base with civil service. He was a member of the Alpha Lodge #172 of Free Accepted Masons of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, inducted October 13, 1959. Merely stepping-stones to the life that he would eventually find and live for Christ. He had resided in Freeport for the past forty years doing what he loved best, farming. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Freeport, and enjoyed cooking and barbecuing at the church as well as at community and school functions. J.W. is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sara Hollington; their sons; Stanton Hollington and wife Anita of Staten Island, NY, Joe Hollington and wife Robin of Freeport, Sid Hollington and wife Melinda of Freeport, Tim Hollington and wife Pam of Crawfordville; daughters; Terry Cooper and husband Ralph of Freeport, Tina Knight and husband Gerald of Freeport, Stacy Zuber and husband Danny of Crawfordville; four sisters and two brothers. J.W. was constantly surrounded by his numerous grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Jason Wes, Jake, Robby, Travis, Jared, Aaron, Jessika, Sarah, Clif, Jenny, Courtney, Madison, Savannah, Tommy, Michael, Leslie, and LaShelle; and when he thought his heart could hold no more, nine beautiful great grandchildren filled his lap. J.W. is finally free of all hurt and worry. He will be forever loved and missed by his family, friends and community. Mr. Charles Jefferson Kent, 72, of Branford, FL, passed away Wednesday, September 24 at the Veterans Hospital in Lake City. Mr. Kent had lived in Branford since 1974. He had retired from the Department of Transportation and had served in Korea with the U.S. Army. Mr. Kent was active in ministry as Pastor of the Branford Apostolic Church. REVEREND PAUL BRYANT GRIFFIN
Reverend Paul Bryant Griffin, age 76 of Blountstown, Florida went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2004. Paul was born in Altha, Fla. and lived in Calhoun County for most of his life. He was retired with over 35 years of service from the State of Florida, Department of Transportation as a Resident Engineer. Paul was also a United Methodist Minister for 24 years and was serving as pastor of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church in the Shady Grove community. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the Williams Memorial Methodist Church in Scotts Ferry, Fla. Survivors include: his wife, Odell Hill Griffin of Blountstown; one daughter, Sherry Edewaard and husband, Barry of Blountstown; two sisters: Dollie Edenfield of Blountstown, Ruth Holley of Blountstown; one sister-in-law, Ione Tucker of Blountstown; one brother-in-law, W.A. Mr. George Wayne Perkins, age 85 of Blountstown, Fla. died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at the Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, Fla. Mr. Perkins was born in DeQuincy, Louisiana and had lived in Blountstown since 1957. He was a retired chemical plant supervisor and a member of the First Baptist Church in Blountstown. Mr. Perkins also was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Perkins and granddaughter Traci Perkins. Doris Stone Montford, 76, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at her home in Beacon Hill, Florida. Mrs. Montford was born May 12, 1927, in Altha and had lived in Blountstown for many years before moving to Beacon Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Bessie Stone of Altha; a brother, Carl "Rooster" Stone of Altha; and her husband, Tommy Montford of Beacon Hill. She is survived by a son, Tommy Durrell Montford, and his wife, Frances, of Wewahitchka; two daughters, Julia Ferrell and her husband, Ralph, of Tallahassee, and Judi Sellers and her husband, Donnie, of Petal, MS; six grandsons, Jayce Sellers, Rod Sellers and his wife, Samantha, Keefe Sellers, Barrett Sellers, Scott Ferrell and Grayson Ferrell; a granddaughter, Jillian Sellers; a great granddaughter, Brianna Sellers; and a sister, Chrystelle Strickland of Tallahassee. Mr. Martin E. (Joe) Waldorff, Sr., age 86 of Kinard, Fla. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2004. Mr. Waldorff was born in Cypress, Fla. and had lived in Kinard since 1973 coming from Panama City, Fla. He was a retired Fire Chief with the Naval Coastal Systems Lab in Panama City with 30 years of service. Martin was a member of the Cypress Creek Baptist church in Kinard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wewahitchka, Fla. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Mr. Waldorff enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a very active member of the Kinard community. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years Marietta C. Waldorff. Survivors include his present wife, Agnes Green Waldorff of Kinard; three sons: Martin E. Mr. Thomas Arthur Adams, age 56 of Blountstown, Fla. (Scotts Ferry Community) died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Tom had lived in Calhoun County for the past two years moving from Pine Island, Fla. near Ft. Myers. He worked for the Dept. of Corrections for 14 years and for the past 2 years at Calhoun Correctional Insitution in Blountstown where he was a Registered Nurse. Survivors include: his wife, Janice E. Mrs. Irene Jackson, age 85 of Clarksville, Fla. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, July 22, 2004. Mrs. Jackson was born July 17, 1919 in Jay, Fla. and had lived in Calhoun County since 2003. Irene worked 19 years with the Pepsi Cola Company in Pensacola, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years. J.D. Jackson and three sons, James Barber Jackson, Lee Don Jackson and Roy Jackson. Mrs. Della Poston, 89, of Hosford, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Tallahassee. Mrs. Poston was born in Greensboro, Florida, but lived most of her life in Telogia. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kinch Arnold, and a stepson, Junior Arnold. BILL SCHRAM
Mr. Bill Schram, age 77 of New Lenox, Il. passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tn. Mr. Schram was born on March 11, 1927 in Benton, Il. and had lived in New Lenox for most of his life. He was a retired Carpenter and a member of the Will County Carpenters Union, Local 174 in Joliet, II. for over 40 years, a member of the American Legion Post #280 in Benton, Il. Bill was a life member of the VFW Post #9545 in New Lenox, Il. Mr. Schram was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy abroad the Ship, USS Abbott. Bill’s favorite past time was farming, he loved planting seeds and watching his garden grow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oness (Poss) and Celia (Granny) Schram and a brother, Robert (Bob) Schram. CLARA SCHRAM
Mrs. Clara Schram, 73, of Blountstown, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006, at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Mrs. Schram was born on July 6, 1933 in Benton, Illinois, and had lived in New Lenox, Illinois for 52 years before moving to Blountstown in 2004. Mrs. Schram was retired from real estate after 22 years of service in 1977. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Floyd Schram, in 2004; her parents, Raymond and Ollie (Crawford) Burlison; three sisters, Melba Wilson, Opal Curdosi, and Josephine Burlison; and two brothers, Eugene Burlison and James Burlison. Survivors include a daughter, Gaye Terry, and her husband, Eugene of Blountstown; one son, Mark Schram, and his wife, Nancy, of Diamond, Ill; three grandchildren, Ted Schram and Lynette Schram, both of West Plains, Mo, and Crystal Belle Terry of Crawfordville, Fl; three great grandchildren, Laura Lei and Michaela, both of West Plains, Mo, and Trinity Belle of Crawfordville; three sisters, Mary Webbe and Velva Williams, both of St. Louis, Mo, and Francis Hammond of Joliet, Ill; three brothers, Odell Burlison and Jack and Judy Burlison, all of Joliet, and David Burlison of Naperville, Ill; and a devoted caregiver and friend, Amy Blackburn. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 20, at 1:30 p.m. (CST) from the Blountstown First Assembly of God Church in Blountstown with Rev. Charles Royals officiating. JOHNNY BURKE
Mr. Johnny Burke, age 55 of Hosford, FL died Friday, March 4, 2005 in Hosford. Mr. Burke was a native and life long resident of Liberty County and worked as a logger. He loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He was of the Holiness faith. Survivors include one daughter, Midget Lee of Quincy, FL; six sisters: Linette Temple of Blountstown, FL, Bernadine Branch of Wewahitchka, Renay Jordan of Hosford, Kathy Flournoy of Hosford, Barbara Hobby of Bristol, Kattie Botting of Bristol; a lifelong companion, Betty Brough of Louisiana; three grandchildren. CHERYL LOUISE (REEVES) DUNN
Mrs. Cheryl Louise (Reeves) Dunn, age 50, of Blountstown, FL went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2005. Cheryl was born on October 11, 1954 in Cape May Courthouse, NJ and had lived in Blountstown since 1984 coming from Sweetwater, NJ. She was employed with the State of Florida as a computer programmer and she also worked at Shelton Trucking and Lenox China. Cheryl graduated from Pleasantville High School and attended Tallahassee Community College. Mrs. Dunn was a member of Poplar Head Baptist Church in Clarksville, FL. Cheryl’s smile, laughter and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include: her husband, Michael Russell Dunn of Blountstown; one son, Michael (Mikey) Russell Dunn, Jr. and his wife, Melanie of Port St. Joe; one daughter: Aimee Lynn (Dunn) Hanvey and her husband, Michael of Blountstown; mother, Alice Robinson of Lake Mary, FL; three sisters: Alice Ray Walters of Erskin Lakes, NJ, Patti Mason of Pennsville, NJ, Denise Sorin of Lake Mary, FL; three grandchildren: Ryan and Matthew Hanvey and Emily Dunn; several great nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. (CST) from the Poplar Head Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Gary Richardson officiating. Additional funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. (EST) from the Absecon United Methodist Church in Abesecon, NJ. The family will receive friends at the Parsels Funeral Home in Abesecon, NJ on Friday, March 11, from 7-9 p.m. (EST). EDNA FLANDERS
Mrs. Edna Flanders, age 94 of Clarksville, FL died Saturday morning, March 5, 2005 at the Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown. Mrs. Flanders was born in the Frink Community in Calhoun County on September 2, 1910. Edna along with her husband, Vick had lived in Missouri for several years and after retirement moved back to the Frink Community. She was a homemaker and a member of the Frink Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vick Flanders. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, March 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. (CST) from the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Goodman officiating. Interment followed in the Clarksville Cemetery.
