Mr. Gary F. Griffin Jr., 38, of Panama City, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, in Panama City. Mr. Griffin was born in Perry, Florida, and had lived in Panama City for the past several years. He was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Cedar Grove. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Griffin of Panama City; six children, Tristan, Aleisa, and Alec Griffin, all of Panama City, Jessica, Joanna, and Jackie, and their mother, Teresa Eldridge, all of Fountain; his mother, Betty Louise Grover, and her husband, James Grover, of Altha; his father, Floyd Griffin, and his wife, Glenda, of Altha; two sisters, Bonnie Kornegay and her husband, Corvia, of Altha, and Charlotte Clemons and her husband, Clint Clemons, of Altha; two brothers, Joe Griffin, and Gene Griffin and his wife, Samantha, all of Panama City; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Erika Loney of Hosford passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005. Mrs. Loney was born in Hanover, Germany, and had lived in Liberty County since 1946. She was retired from the State of Florida Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles where she worked as a clerk. Survivors include her husband, Daniel F. Loney of Hosford; one son, Dennis Frank Loney and his wife, Cindy, of Tallahassee; one daughter, Carol Wooten and her husband, Perry, of Santa Rosa Beach; and grandchildren, Jeremy, Shawn, and Brandon Loney, Travis Peterson and Terra Tucker. Mrs. Annie Mae Martin, age 93, of Blountstown died Monday, February 28, 2005 at home. A native of Blountstown, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons: Samuel B. Martin of Blountstown, Robert Martin of Cleveland, OH, Charles Martin of El Paso, TX; four daughters: Earlene Jennings of Bristol, Helen Marlowe of Bristol, Agnes Myles of South Euclid, OH, Clydie M. Nelson of South Euclid, OH; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. RUBY MAY SANSOM
Ruby May Sansom, born June 20, 1933, in Carrabelle, died tragically March 1, 2005, at her home in Altha. Ruby was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Futch. Survivors include her children, Joseph Roberts of Tallahassee, John Sansom, Margaret Barber, and Mary Lou Sampson, all of Eastpoint; a sister, Gladys Quigg of Carrabelle; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Saturday, March 5, at Eastpoint Cemetery.

NOLA I. SEWELL
Mrs. Nola I. Sewell, age 87 of Altha, FL died Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Parthenon Health and Rehab Center in Blountstown. Mrs. Sewell was born on January 18, 1918 in Calhoun County and had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hasty Pond Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sewell and a grandson, Jack Sewell. Survivors include: one son, Dean Sewell and his wife, Vivian of Altha; one daughter, Chrystal Worring and her husband, Thomas of Pensacola, FL; three grandchildren: Jerry Sewell of Afghanistan and his wife, Rita of Cottondale, Allison Marabella of Pensacola, FL, Alan Campbell; four great-grandchildren: Chania Godwin, Amy Godwin, Austin Campbell, Faith Campbell. Mrs. Minnie S. Wellborn, age 73, of Irving, TX, died Friday, February 25, 2005. Minnie was born July 24, 1921 in the Alliance Community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She retired in January 2002 from Taylor Publishing Company. Survivors include two sons: Murrell Lewis and Jim Lewis; two daughters: Tex Tubbs and Toni Jones; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family members and friends. Services for Mrs. Wellborn were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Altha, with the Rev. Marvin Nichols officiating. Geneva Goodman Yon of Grandridge, FL, 90, a retired nurse, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, FL Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. (CST), Thursday, March 10, 2005 at New life Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church in Altha, FL. She was a member of New Life Sunny Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church in Altha most of her life. In her last years of her life she was a member of Fort Braden Pentecostal Holiness Church in Tallahassee. She is survived by two daughters: Betty Joe Hardin and Sharon J. Blount (and husband, Robert Blount) of Tallahassee; four sisters: Juanita Johnson of Winter Haven, Jessie Lee Burch of Grand Ridge; Addie Lee Hires of Blountstown, Flora Strain of Lakeland, and one brother, Wade Goodman of Bristol; fifteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Price Yon, and three children, James Schneider, Barbara Gail Yon and Dwendal Hutto.

Mr. Charles Curtis (Chuck) Capps, age 60 of Bristol, FL died Saturday, April 30, 2005. Chuck was born in Kinard, FL and had lived in Calhoun and Liberty Counties for most of his life. Mr. Capps worked as a maintenance supervisor with St. Joe Paper Co. until his retirement. He was a member of the Bristol Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bristol. Chuck was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his outdoors. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sonya Capps of Bristol; two sons: Curt Capps and his wife, Paula of Blountstown, Chad Capps and his wife, Lynn of Blountstown; one daughter, Catrina Capps of Bristol; two brothers: Johnny Capps of Tallahassee, Roger Capps of Blountstown; three sisters: Patricia Savage of Tallahassee, FL, Brenda King of Pensacola, FL, Juliet Cathey of Durant, OK; a great aunt, Ruth Stallings of Tallahassee; six grandsons and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. MYRTLE WOODS FREEMAN
Mrs. Myrtle Woods Freeman, 90, of Marianna died Saturday, April 30, 2005 in Marianna. Mrs. Freeman was a native of Jackson County having lived in Columbus, GA for ten years where she and her late husband worked in the textile business in Columbus, GA. She then returned to Jackson County where she lived the rest of her life. She was a longtime member of the Pilgrim Rest Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal Freeman and four children, Charles, Bobby, Jerry and Earl Freeman. Survivors include two sons: Thomas Freeman and Gordon Freeman, both of Marianna; one sister, Oma Grant of Winter Haven; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. CLARENCE EUGENE TIPTON
Mr. Clarence Eugene Tipton, 77, died May 2, 2005 at his residence. The Bascom, FL native was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, the Frank Baker Masonic Lodge, and the Scottish Rite. He was retired from Contintental Can and was a former member of the Marine Rescue Squadron of Port Wentworth. Mr. Tipton was also the former Building Inspector of Port Wentworth and was a US Navy and Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Jean Caines. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mildred B. Tipton of Port Wentworth, Priscilla McCullough (Joey), Theresa Colson of Savannah, and Donna Pickard (Ramon) of Eden; two brothers: John Henry and Billy Joe Tipton, both of Clarksville, FL; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special dog, Chrissy; and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Jerry Wayne Whitworth, age 53, of Clarksville, TN died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was born June 2, 1951, in Springfield, TN. He was prceded in death by a daughter, Allison Whitworth and father, Cecil Whitworth. The Rev. Whitworth was owner of Old Stuff Antiques and a member of Pardue Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. He was a minister at Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church in Blountstown, FL, Second Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland City, KY, and director of Cumberland Camp in Clarksville, TN. He was a member of the Montgomery County Historical Society, the Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society, and a charter member of the Cheatham County Art Guild. Survivors include his wife, Debbie A. Whitworth of Clarksville, TN; mother, Joyce Whitworth of Cedar Hill, TN; two sons, Jeremy Whitworth and wife, Jara of Blountstown, and Brandon Whitworth and wife, Candace of Clarksville, TN; three borthers: Larry Whitworth and Kim Whitworth, both of Pleasant View, TN, and Bart Whitworth of Cedar Hill, TN; and three grandchildren: Whit and Ridge Whitworth of Blountstown and Riley Whitworth of Clarksville, TN. Mr. Olan Deleon “O.D.” Williford, Jr., age 59, of Altha died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Jackson Hospital. Mr. Williford was a lifelong resident of this area. He attended Christian Assembly Church in Malone. Mr. Williford loved the bible, fellowshipping, and witnessing. Mr. Williford was preceded in death by his father, Olan Deleon Williford, Sr. and his nephew, Michael Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Lois Williford; one son, Jessus Williford of Destin; one daughter, Lori Baggett and husband, Brent of Altha; his mother, Mabel Taylor of Fort Walton; one sister, Carolyn Murphy and husband, Jim of Fort Walton; his niece, Michelle McCann and her husband, Greg and their children, May and Mia of Fort Walton; his mother-in-law, Kathy Green, as well as his sister-in-law, Randell and her husband Bradley of Fort Walton. Mrs. Catherine "Cassie" O'Bryan Dabney, 20, of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Bristol. She was born in Blountstown and was a lifelong resident of Bristol, Florida. Cassie was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Blountstown Health and Rehabilitation. She was known by her patients, co-workers and employers as always smiling and having a bright outlook. Cassie loved to hunt and fish and was a loving newlywed. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Lake Mystic Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Ray Eugene O'Bryan; grandmother, Zories Jacobs O'Bryan; great-grandfather, Roy M. Clemmons; great-grandmother, Thelma R. Mrs. Louise Rolin Neal, 81, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 13, 2006, at the Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown. Mrs. Neal was born in Atmore, AL, on February 21, 1925, and had lived in Calhoun County for most of her life. She was head cook at the Seminole Restaurant in Clarksville for 28 years. Mrs. Neal was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blountstown. She was preceded in death by her son, Leon Neal. Survivors include one daughter, Velma Layfield and her husband, Shot, of Kinard; one brother, C.Y. Mrs. Camilla Newton Norris, 73 of Blountstown, passed away Saturday night, June 17, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Norris was born on October 27, 1932, in Farmer, North Carolina, and had lived in Calhoun County since 1966, coming from Foley, Alabama. Camilla was a registered nurse, working at the Florida State Hospital, corrections and mental health for over 27 years. She was a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center near Grand Ridge. Survivors include her children, Rebecca Norris McNinch and her husband, Russell, of Marianna, Karen Norris of Blountstown, Michael Leroy Norris of Blountstown, Charles Gregory Norris and his wife, Esther, of Mobile, William Eric Norris and his wife, Jena, of Blountstown, Anthony Frank Norris and his wife, Sherryl, of Blountstown, Fredrick Dale Norris and his wife, Debra, of Greensboro, and Freda Norris Cobb and her husband, Eugene, of Marianna; one sister, Jimmy Alderete of Commerce, TX; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Erie G. Parker, 88, of Bristol, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006, in Blountstown. She was a native of Gordon, AL, and a life long resident of Bristol. She attended the Bristol Church of God and had worked with the Liberty County Senior Citizens for several years. She loved to fish and bake cakes. She is survived by two sons, Rodney Parker of Jacksonville, and Rev. Ray Parker and his wife, Kathy, of Englewood; one daughter, Neely Durrant and her husband, Sid, of Chipley; two sisters, Inez Parker of Mobile and Orie Colvin and her husband, Dan, of Bristol; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. ALBERT EDWARD (EDDIE) SKINNER, JR.
Rev. Albert Edward (Eddie) Skinner, Jr., 35, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Marana, Arizona. Mr. Skinner was born in Pensacola, and had lived in Phoenix for the past five years, coming from South Dakota. Eddie was an ordained minister since 1991 and also worked as a truck driver for the past eight years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church. Survivors include his wife, Rev. Lisa (Carter) Skinner of Phoenix; one daughter, Valere Lemon and her husband, Anthon, of Lafayette, IN; his parents, Rev. Albert Edward Skinner Sr. and Marie Skinner of New Brockton, AL; his mother-in-law, Rosa Carter of Plymouth, IN; his maternal grandparents, Harry and Nora Shuler of Bristol; seven sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law. E. Clyatte Strawn
Mr. E. Clyatte Strawn, 89, of Blountstown, passed away Monday, June 19, 2006, in Blountstown. Mr. Strawn was born in Boyd, Florida, and had lived in Blountstown for many years. Clyatte graduated from Leon High School in 1938 where he excelled in athletics playing on the State Championship Football team. He also played baseball in Blountstown for the Blountstown Buccaneers. Clyatte was a very active member of the Gateway Baptist Church since 1968 serving as a Deacon and Church Training Director. He served in the Masonic Lodge for 60 years where he was a 32nd degree Mason. Clyatte also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 50 years and was a charter member of the Calhoun-Liberty Gideons. Clyatte was owner of Strawn's Variety Shop from 1946-1988 specializing in cabinets and various mill works. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific in the Merchant Marines. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Strawn of Blountstown; one son, Edwin Strawn and his wife, Lynn, of Blountstown; one daughter, Marie Ann Granger and her husband, Sidney, of Blountstown; six grandchildren, Bill Strawn and his wife Lori, Chris and his wife, Karen, Bill and his wife, Lisa, Patrick and his wife, Jennifer, Carylee Sewell and her husband, Scott, and Greg Granger and his wife, Jodi; and 10 great-grandchildren. Forrest Robert Weed
Mr. Forrest Robert Weed, 85, of Blountstown, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, in Tallahassee. Mr. Weed was born in Chicago, Illinois, and had lived in Blountstown since 1956, moving here from Ohio. He attended Michigan State University where he as on the swim team and received his undergraduate in Forestry. He went on to receive a masters in Education from Florida State University. Forrest was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Air Force. He had worked for Firestone as a division supervisor and later taught Agriculture and Science in Wewahitchka. Serving God was one of Forrest's highest priorities. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blountstown where he served as deacon for the past 40 years as well as a Sunday School teacher. He worked extensively in the mission field including work in Liberia, Russia, Spain, Indonesia, and Korea. He was very active in the prison ministry in Calhoun, Gulf and Liberty Counties and was a Gideon for the past 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Weed of Blountstown; one son, Allen Robert Weed of Franklin, Tennessee; one daughter, Susan Kaye Pando of Marietta, Georgia; one broher, Robert H. Weed of Port Huron, Michigan; three grandchildren, Ryan Weed and Louie and Sofia Pando. Funeral services were held 10:00 AM Friday, June 16, from the Magnolia Cemetery in Blountstown with Reverend Tom Stallworth officiating. Annie C. MacDonald
Mrs. Annie C. MacDonald, 85, of Fountain passed away Sunday, December 17, 2006, in Blountstown. Mrs. MacDonald was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received her bachelors in art from Boston University. She had lived in Fountain since 2001, moving from Miami where she had worked as a die and tool machinist and office specialist for Yale-Orgon. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann Baldwin of Miami and Judith Maynard of Fountain; four grandchildren, Charles and Martin Maynard and Christopher and Craig Baldwin; one great-grandchild, Bella Marie Maynard. MARIE ROSE RYAN
Mrs. Marie Rose Ryan, 78, of Clarksville, died Sunday, December 9, 2006, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ryan and her family moved here in 1987. She enjoyed sewing, reading, shopping, cooking, and she also had some favorite TV shows. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Ryan, in 2002. Mrs. Ryan is survived by two sons, Paul Edward Ryan, and his wife, Anna, of Lancaster, Ca., and George Patrick Ryan, of Clarksville; one daughter, Sharon Ryan, of Clarksville; one niece, Bernice Cline, of Grove City, Oh; five grandchildren, Kristine Ryan of Seattle, Washington, Susan Jewell, Robert Ryan, John Paul Ryan, and Melissa Ryan, all of Palm Dell, Ca, as well as five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Ryan were held at 4:00 p.m.,Thursday, December 14, at Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Dewayne Tolbert officiating. Memorialization was by cremation following the service. SONJA MAE SCHAMENS
Mrs. Sonja Mae Schamens, 67, of Altha, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala. Mrs. Schamens was born on February 19, 1940, in Pomona, California, and had lived in Altha since 2003, coming from Mission, Texas. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Ross Schamens of Altha; two sons, Andy Schamens and his wife, Dara, of Altha, Matt Schamens of California; two grandsons, Dustin Schamens and his wife, Brooks, of Altha, Nolan Musgrove of Altha; one grandchild, Nichole Schamens of Altha. RUTH E. JOHNSON
Mrs. Ruth E. Johnson, 80, passed away on March 13, 2007, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla. A native of Akron, Ohio, she moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Calhoun County 25 years ago. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include three sons, Harry Johnson of Detroit, MI., John Johnson of Oklahoma, and David Johnson of Taylor, MI; three daughters, Cathy Suthers of Taylor, MI, Margaret Shearer of Grand Rapids, MI, and Sharon Nelson of Calhoun County; one sister, Mary Disney, of Michigan; and many grandchildren.
