Charles W. Belt, 68, of Homosassa died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000. He was born in Marion, Ky., and came here 12 years ago from Decatur, Ala. He was a retired manufacturing representative and a former Rotarian.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jo Belt of Homosassa; two daughters, Debara Anne Belt of Hillsdale, Mich., and Lynn Belt Schuppert of Decatur, Ala.; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn Schuppert of Decatur, Ala.

Faith Collinge, 65, of Hernando
E. Faith Collinge, 65, of Hernando died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born in Billerica, Mass., and moved to Citrus County in 1985. She co-owned Don’s Restaurant in Lowell, Mass., with her husband, retiring after 31 years.
She was a member of the Citrus Hills Women’s Club, where she was Woman of the Year in 1999, and served as chairwoman of Volunteers for Barrington Place for 14 years. She was a member of Inverness Auxiliary Moose Lodge 2112, Inverness Does Lodge 232, Leroy Rooks VFW Post 4252 Auxiliary, Hernando and St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Lecanto.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donald L. Collinge Sr., of Hernando; three sons, Donald L. Collinge Jr., of Dracut, Mass.; Daniel B. Collinge of Tyngsboro, Mass., and David J. Collinge of Woburn, Mass.; two daughters, Joanne Silva of Billerica, Mass., and Julie A. Kenney of Beverly Hills; two brothers, Edward O’Brien of Bonita Springs and Daniel O’Brien of Billerica, Mass.; four sisters, Pauline Cushing of Dracut, Mass., Kathleen Connors of Citrus Hills, Rita Burgess of Dracut, Mass., and Dorothy Myers of Windham, N.H., and eight grandchildren.

Paul W. Rice, 69, of Hernando died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his residence under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Asheville, N.C., to Bernice and Lee Rice. He was a graduate of North Carolina State College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from Honey Well Corporation in Clearwater and Tampa as an electrical engineer after 29 years of service. He was a member of Elks Lodge 2522 in Hernando, VFW Post 4252 in Hernando and the Honey Well Retiree Club. He attended the Hernando United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol M. Rice of Hernando; one daughter, Kathy Lortie of Tucson, Ariz.; one son, Mark Rice of St. Petersburg; three step-children, Susan Rugg of Tampa, Roger Toney of Biloxi, Miss., and Teresa Thomas of Naples; one sister, Betty Randall of Macon, Ga.; one brother, Bynum Johnston of Macon, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren.

Fred Bradley Hendrickson, 71, of Inverness, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. A native of Bayshore, Long Island, N.Y., he was born April 13, 1929. He moved to Florida nine years ago from North Babylon, N.Y., where he was an operating engineer for Local 138. He Protestant. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott, who died Dec. 24, 1985.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Janet DeLap Hendrickson; four sons, Dennis of Farmingville, N.Y., Kevin of Texas, Robert of Inverness and Rick of Pathogue, N.Y.; daughter, Judi Bartalis of Crystal River; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Drew Hill Kelly, 83, of Crystal River, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000. He was born in Lithonia, Ga., and came to Crystal River 11 years ago from St. Petersburg. He was a retired asphalt and paving company owner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Schmid Kelly, who died Dec. 5, 1998. He was Presbyterian.

Ruth Lois DeGroff O’Neil, 74, of Inverness, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at her son’s home under the care of family and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born in Newburgh, N.Y., and came to Inverness 12 years ago from Bridgewater, Mass. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and the Spencer School of Business. She was a retired operator for the New York Telephone Company, a civilian employee of Headquarters Building at U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an office worker at S. Stroock Company in Newburgh. She was preceded in death by her brother, John E. DeGroff Sr., and her sister, and Alice Gross. She was Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, James O’Neil; son, James Martin O’Neil of Inverness; four sisters, Marion Curlew of Fort Meyers and Courtland, N.Y., Helen Crawshaw and Ann Mason, both of Newburgh, N.Y., and Lucille Carbon of New Windsor, N.Y.; 11 nieces and nephews; and her white toy poodle, Margerite Sue Ann.

Earl Samstag, 74, of Homosassa Springs
Earl C. Samstag, 74, of Homosassa Springs, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Veterans Hospital In Gainesville. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he came here from Naperville, Ill., 22 years ago. He was a retired United Methodist minister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning two bronze stars. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, a charter member and past president of the Rotary Club of Homosassa Springs, served as chairman of the Dr. Carlos Nessi Foundation and was a past district governor of Rotary District No.6950 for Florida. He was a charter member and past president of the Citrus County Civic Association and served as treasurer of the North Suncoast Ministers Association. He was appointed to numerous county and state advisory boards. As a minister with 20 years of service, he served with the Illinois Church Action of Drugs and Alcohol and as a superintendent of the Church Youth Camp for Illinois.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Maureen Englund Samstag of Homosassa Springs; son, E. Calvin Samstag Jr. and his wife Beverly of Naperville, Ill.; daughter, Lynn Selby and husband Michael of Citrus Hills; four grandchildren, E. Calvin Samstag III, Gregory Samstag, Ryan Selby and Robyn Selby.

Carlo C. Scarano, 61, of Homosassa died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at his residence. He was born in Staten Island, N.Y. and came here 16 years ago from there. He was a retired foreman of the sanitation department for the city of New York, a former broker for Trotter Realty and a former Citrus County School bus driver for 14 years. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a charter member of the West Citrus Elks Lodge and a member of Citrus County Board of Realtors, Knights of Columbus, Staten Island Musician Society and St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Barone.
Surviving are his wife, Linda M. (Mathews) Scarano of Homosassa; two sons, Carl Scarano of Beverly Hills, and David Scarano of Tallahassee; one daughter, Carolyn Salerno of Middletown, New Jersey; one brother, Lawrence Scarano of Middleton, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Justine, Carl, Anthony, Joseph, Corinne and Michael; one great grandchild, Gabrielle.

Barbara Ellen Jean Lane, 58, of Bushnell died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000. She was born in West Virginia. A native of Ashtabula, Ohio, she moved to Florida 23 years ago. Formerly of Citrus County she had been a resident of Bushnell since 1993. She worked as a waitress.
Surviving are two daughters, Shelly Fletcher of Vanceburg, Ky., and Brenda Watson of Crystal River; two brothers, Henry Bryan of Bushnell and James Bryan of Ashtabula, Ohio; two sisters, Ethel Griffith and Carolyn Lemon both of Ashtabula, Ohio; one stepson, Daniel Varkett of Ohio; and six grandchildren.

John Luther Littleton, 80, of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at his residence. He was born in Springfield, Ohio. He was formerly of Findlay, Ohio, before moving to Florida. He retired from J.R. Holcomb Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was a salesman. He was a World War II veteran, a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force; and served as a pilot instructor. He was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended Wittenberg University in Springfield. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Seven Rivers Golf Club in Crystal River and prior member of Findlay Country Club and the Elks Lodge in Findlay, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Marguerita (Bradshaw) Littleton of Homosassa; two daughters, Christine (Richard) Kudlak and Barbara (Robert) Chaney, both of Waterville, Ohio; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Francis Mary (Hollinger) Littleton.

Kay L. Dixon, 49, of Floral City, formerly of Samaria, Mich., died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to Florida in 1970 to Pinellas Park before moving to Floral City in 1990. She was a medical billing secretary. She was Methodist. She was the mother of the late Guy H. Wiseman who died in 1987.
