Thomas Anthony Ambrosio, 48, of Inverness died at home Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, under the loving care of his family and Hospice. A native of Queens, N.Y., he was born June 26, 1952, to Jerry and Mary (LaMorte) Ambrosio. He moved to Florida 18 years ago from Massapequa, Long Island, N.Y. He was employed as a service technician for Bay Area Air Conditioning. He was Catholic. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lynn Sheehan Ambrosio; two sons, Thomas M. of Oviedo and Robert J. of Inverness; two sisters, Patricia Berardi and Lucy Ambrosio, both of North Ogden, Utah; his mother-in-law, Ann Sheehan of Inverness; and one sister-in-law, Patty Sheehan of Boynton Beach. John Garley, 78, of Lecanto
John J. Garley, 78, of Lecanto died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River. He was born to Mary and Thomas Garley on Aug. 3, 1922, in Jersey City, N.J. He moved here from Nevada 11 years ago. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years. He retired from Grumman Aerospace after 17 years. He was a life member of the D.A.V. He was Catholic. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, John Garley. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Garley of Lecanto; two sons, Tom Garley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Patrick Scotti of Picksville, N.Y.; one brother, James Garley of Ocean Grove, N.J.; and one grandchild. Nancy K. Golden, 59, of Homosassa died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born April 25, 1941, to Carl and Betty Beck in St. Petersburg, she came here 33 years ago from Sarasota. She was a retired bartender who worked for most of her career at the Old Mill Tavern in Homosassa. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Homosassa. She is survived by three sons, David Beck, John A. Halsey and Jerry D. Golden, all of Homosassa; one daughter, Victoria Cartwright of Homosassa; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Harold Grunsky, 83, of Homosassa
Harold J. Grunsky, 83, of Homosassa died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his residence under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Bettendorf, Iowa, he came here 20 years ago from New Orleans, La. He was a retired sales engineer for General Electric Co. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel 6954 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6146, both of Homosassa. He was a former St. Vincent Eucharist Minister for St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the de Paul Society. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa Springs. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann Grunsky of Homosassa; two sons, Albert Grunsky of Cayman Islands and James P. Grunsky of Orlando; three daughters, Kathleen Oleson of Little Rock, Ark., Margaret A. Roy of Mandeville, La., and Mary Jane Hendryx of The Woodlands, Texas; one brother, Frank Grunsky of Columbus, S.C.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ruby M. Pappas, 75, of New Hope, Minn., died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in Robbinsdale, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sr., and granddaughter, Leah Wenz. Shirley J. Sloan, 67, died Dec. 22, 2000, after a long illness. A resident of Citrus County for 18 years, her main occupation was in real estate. Edward Hartman, 82, of Inverness
Edward Hartman, 82, of Inverness, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Dec. 16, 1917, to Henry and Alma (Greyfehl) Hartman. He came here six years ago from Wautoma, Wis. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Inverness Elks Lodge BPOE 2522. He was Catholic. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dunnellon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Nowery, in 1987. Dorothy Jean Bruns, 73, of Dunnellon died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala. She was born in Altoona, Pa., and came here in 1993 from Wauwatosa, Wis. She spent five months of each year in Milwaukee, Wis. She was a retired registered nurse and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the Dunnellon Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, Wolfgang ‘‘Ted’’ Bruns of Dunnellon; son, Robert H. Bruns of Americus, Ga.; daughters, Barbara Ann Kohler of Centreville, Va., and Susanne C. Donald Zane Fortney, 73, of Homosassa died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River. He was born in Enterprise, W. Va., and came here 15 years ago from West Virginia. He was a retired coal miner and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the First Assembly of God of Homosassa Springs and the American Legion Post No. 31 in Shinnston, W. Va. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Lee Yost, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Vesta L. (Campbell) Fortney of Homosassa; one son, Samuel E. Fortney of Enterprise, W. Va.; two sisters, Leta Haller of Baltimore, Md., and Virginia Spencer of Silver Spring, Md.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Francis Georgia, 87, of Floral City
The Rev. Francis R. Georgia, 87, of Floral City died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in the Citrus Health & Rehabilitation Center of Inverness. A native of Meridale, N.Y., he was born Sept. 25, 1913, to Ruez and Edith Mae Georgia. He came to Citrus County 10 years ago from Flat Rock, N.C. He was a retired minister and private school principal. His teaching career included schools in Long Island, N.Y.; the Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham; Florida Christian School in St. Petersburg; Miami Christian School; and Phoenix Christian School. He was educated at Hartwich College, Columbia Teachers College, Cornell University, and Arizona State University. While preaching the gospel, he served churches in Rhode Island, New York and Florida. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Inverness. He is survived by two sons, Ronald E. of Floral City and Randall C. of Pickens, S.C.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Charles L. Gritter, 75, of Hernando died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and came to Hernando 26 years ago from Plantation Key. He was the former owner of Chuck’s Kountry Butcher Shop in Holder for 26 years and was a World War II veteran. He was a Jehovah’s Witness. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty Jayne Gall Gritter of Hernando; two sons, James T. Gritter of Ocala and Charles F. Everett Kotze, 72, of Inglis
Everett H. Kotze, 72, of Inglis died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000. He was born in Lithonia, Ga., and moved to Inglis from Cape Canaveral in 1990. He was an inspector for McDonnell Douglas at Kennedy Space Center for 33 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Inglis VFW. Surviving are his wife, Clarisse ‘‘Kitty’’ Kotze of Inglis; three sons, Donald Rinehart of Crystal River, Curtis Kurtz of New Port Richey and Paul Kurtz of Inglis; daughter, Connie Merchant of Inglis; two brothers, John Fulford of Sparta, Ga., and Donald Fulford of Tampa; two sisters, Ruth Kotze and Reva Kotze, both of Tampa; and seven grandchildren. Darrel Eugene McMillen, 59, of Inglis died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in Savannah, Ga. He was born in Osborne, Kan., and came here eight years ago from there. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired soil conservationist for the federal government. He was a member of the Community Church of Inglis and the Inglis VFW. Guy Young, 100, of Homosassa
Guy Brooks Young, 100, of Homosassa died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000. He was born in Stanbury, Mo., and came to Homosassa in 1996 from Orlando where he had lived since 1944. He was a retired farmer and a charter member of the Community Church of the Brethren, Orlando, where he was a deacon, treasurer and board member. He was the father of the late Rev. Carl E. Young, who died March 28, 2000; Dean C. Young, who died in October 1990; and Hester M. Davis who died in 1974. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Grace Campbell Young, in May 1974. Surviving are his three daughters, Verna L. Hiatt of Orlando, Bonnie J. Flick and F. Joy Palmer, both of Homosassa; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Clifford Bangle, 87, of Floral City
Clifford W. Bangle, 87, of Floral City died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at Vassar Brothers’ Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., after a short illness. Born in Minnesota on Dec. 1, 1912, he was the son of Earl W. and Mable Connely Bangle. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received a Bronze Star. He married Inez Sorenson on July 15, 1950, in Wisconsin. They moved to Florida after his retirement from International Harvester/Navistar in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1978. Mrs. Bangle died May 13, 1999, at Mariner Health of Inverness. Mr. Bangle was staying with his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Carver of Salt Point, N.Y., at the time of his death. Also surviving are his son, Jeff Bangle of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, Jim and Pat Bangle, both of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Ruby Schroeder of Rutland; and several nieces and nephews including Sharon Kozlowski and Donald Schroeder and their families, also of Rutland. Harold Clark, 85, of Citrus Springs
Harold Vernon Clark, 85, of Citrus Springs died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Cypress Cove Care Center, Crystal River. Born in Pennington, Va., he came here in 1980 from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a retired assembler of mobile homes. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for his service in the European Theater, assigned to an Infantry Regiment. Surviving are his beloved wife of 12 years, Marie Clark of Citrus Springs; daughter, Barbara Messer of Ohio; stepson, David Allen Gann Sr. of Lecanto; brother, Eugene Clark of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a retired assembler for Porcelain Products, retiring after 30 years. She was a member of the Bowlers Carey Leagues, Carey, Ohio. She was mother of the late Linda Keckler, who died in October 1995. Surviving are her husband, Richard E. Ewing of Inverness; son, Hiram Gene Davis of Inverness; three daughters, Angie Balderson of Spring Hill, Peggy Mundy of Indianapolis, Ind., and Barb Caudill of Carey, Ohio; three brothers, Henry Holbrook of Florence, Ore., John D.
