Russell Larson, 73, of Crystal River
Russell Hall Larson, 73, of Crystal River died March 25, 2000. The son of K. Roy and Helena (Hall) Larson, he was born in Battle Creek, Mich., on March 2, 1927, a great-grandson to the first settler in Eaton County, Mich. Upon his high school graduation in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he became a radio technician on the USS Trumpetfish in the Pacific. After an honorable discharge, he earned a bachelor of science degree from Michigan College of Mining and Technology and joined International Business Machine Corporation. In his 31 years with that company, he signed his name to several patents and disclosures.
He was a pilot and a member of AOPA and the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II. He served as a docent for the Fima Air Museum of Tucson, Ariz., and a vice commander and district officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary of Yankeetown Flotilla. He was a Robert Gordon Sproul Associate of the University of California, Buckley, and participated in geological excavations. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and Two Generation Club, the Children of the American Revolution and held office with the National Campers and Hikers Association, the Sahara Club, and participated in the relocation of the Appalachian Trail and the Mid-Hudson Road Runners. He retired to Florida 14 years ago from the town of Wappinger, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eleanor Iris (Reymann); seven children, Greta L. Larson of Inglis, Karla J. Sheehan and Terri-Ann Halpin, both of Wappinger Falls, N.Y., Linda Resto of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Gary G. Heil of Davis, Thomas Larson of Coconut Creek and Jane O. Roark of Conyers, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Estelle Morton, 67, of Inverness died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. She was born may 13, 1932, in Albion, R.I., to William and Yvonne Gagne. She and her husband moved to Inverness in 1978 from Ashland, N.H. She was a certified nurse's aid and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. She was also a member of Crystal River Users Group, in which she assisted in administrative duties.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alfred Morton; two sons, Steve Morton and his wife Julie of Campton, N.H., and Alan Morton and his wife Lois of Ocala; two sisters, Michele Martel of Montreal, Canada and Cathryn Hughes of Hooksett, N.H., and five grandchildren, Brogan and Brennan of Portsmouth, N.H., and Justin, Kelsey and Zachary of Ocala.

Dorothy Stone, 71, of Crystal River died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. She was born on Aug. 16, 1928, in Bronx, N.Y., and came here three years ago from Trenton, Ill. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8189 Ladies Auxiliary in Crystal River. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Stone, in 1998. She was Catholic.
She is survived by two nieces, Jacqueline Hogan of Crystal River and Tommie Sue Ferrell of Marshfield, Mo.; two nephews, George Stone of Crystal River and Andrew Lee Stone of Versailles, Mo., as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Born Dec. 4, 1902, to Peter and Agnes (Williams) Hallworth in Lancashire, England, she came to this area two years ago from Manahawkin, N.J. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Manahawkin Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Whitmarsh Sr., on July 6, 1970.

Everett W. Needleman, 74, of Homosassa died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at home, under the loving care of his family and Citrus County Hospice. Born in Flint, Mich., he came here in 1986 from Champaign, Ill. He was a business owner in Chicago and Oak Brook in Illinois. A locally recognized professional musician, playing clarinet and saxophone, he was past president and co-founder of the Citrus Jazz Society. He was a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was the director of publicity for Medinah Temple. He was a volunteer for Citrus County Crime Watch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anna, of Beverly Hills, and a brother, Richard, of Homosassa.

Ernest Leon Reed Sr., 70, of Inverness died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Born in Flushing, Mich., Jan. 22, 1930, he came here in 1978 from Venice, Fla. Mr. Reed owned and operated Furniture Refinishing by Ernest Reed for more than 51 years. He was Christian. He was a licensed minister with the International Ministers of Churches since 1959. He was a member of the Inverness Church of God and the Full Gospel Businessmens Fellowship. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest A. Reed, and his son, Mark Reed.
Surviving are his loving wife, Karen (Goree) Reed; two sons, Ernest L.
