Born in New York, N.Y., he came here 15 years ago from New York City and was a retired Linotype operator for a printing company. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of the Italian American Club, the Beverly Hills Civic Association and a former member of the American Legion Post 237 in Beverly Hills. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Lucy DeLuca of Beverly Hills; daughter, Julanne Barbato of Boca Raton; brother, Michael DeLuca of Fresh Meadows, N.Y.; sister, Lucy Brunetti of Fresh Meadows, N.Y.; and several nephews and nieces. Olaf H. Fostvedt, 82, of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Lecanto. Born in Union City, N.J., he came here 15 years ago from Ringwood, N.J. He was a retired carpenter with Fostvedt, Lyons & Nurmi General Contractors in New Jersey. He was elected Ringwood tax assessor in Ringwood, N.J. He was a U.S. Coast Guard and World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Local Carpenters Union No. 15 in Hackensack, N.J., Association of Municipal Assessors in New Jersey, Masons, Euclid No. 136 in Hasbrouk Heights, N.J., American Legion Post No. 155 in Crystal River and Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club. He was also a member of the Teaneck Evangelical Free Church in Teaneck, N.J. Surviving are one son, Paul N. Fostvedt of Woodstock, Ga.; one daughter, Lois A. Clarence Harris, 74, of Old Town
Clarence Edward Harris, 74, of Old Town, formerly of Homosassa, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Old Town. Born in Lacoochee, he moved to Old Town in 1987. He was a retired staff sergeant for the U.S. Army and was retired from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an avid private pilot. He was a member of the Jopa Masonic Lodge No. 4 in Old Town. Surviving are his wife, Fern Harris of Old Town; three sons, John of Great Falls, S.C., Floyd of Homosassa and David of Dade City; one daughter, Joyce Ricketson of Homosassa; his mother, Eva Harris of Trilby; two brothers, Walter of Trilby and James of Dade City; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Sumter County and was owner/operator of Sparkman Fruit in Sumterville for 48 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crystal River. He was a past member of the West Citrus Elks Lodge in Homosassa, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., past president of the Citrus County Audubon Society, co-chairman of Citrus 20/20 and the Citrus County Code Enforcement Board. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Crystal River. Surviving are one son, Richard K. Welch of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Wendy L. Welch and Linda A. He was born in Columbia City, Ind., on July 13, 1907, to Verlin and Elsie Mae (Blake) Crowel, and he came to Sumter County in 1999 from New Port Richey. Mr. Crowel was a retired turbo operator for Consumers Power Company. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was Methodist. Surviving are his daughter, Donna Griffin of Bushnell; son-in-law, Gary Griffin of Bushnell; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Crowel, who died in 1978. Chas. E. Ellwood H. Dickinson, 88, of Dunnellon died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his residence. He was born in Camden, N.J., and came to Dunnellon 17 years ago from Port Charlotte. Mr. Dickinson was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Mason, Morristown, N.J. He also started the Demolay in Morristown. He was an honorary life member of Arizona and Florida Sheriffs' Association. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad after 30 years of service. He was honored by being the engineer to take the last steam locomotive into the roundhouse at Pemberton, N.J. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lake Rousseau. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Josephine Biskup Dickinson of Dunnellon; a daughter, Janice L. Athena D. Oehlschlager, 21, of Clearwater, formerly of Crystal River, died on Thursday, May 18, 2000, at her residence. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., on Sept. 18, 1978, to Doris and William J. Oehlschlager, and came to Clearwater one year ago from Spring Hill. She was assistant manager of the Albertson's Pharmacy in Clearwater. She attended Lake Worth High School and was a 1997 graduate of Crystal River High School. She was Lutheran. Surviving are her parents, William Oehlschlager of Midlothian, Va., and Doris Calloway of Clearwater, and stepfather, James, of West Palm Beach; two brothers, Christopher J. Mr. Smith was a retired technician in the Kentucky Army National Guard after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, Floral City. He was a member of the Citrus Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was husband of the late Mrs. Mary Carolyn Smith, who died Feb. 28, 1977. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Lexington, Ky. Surviving are his two sons, Edward C. Smith II of Inverness and James B. She was past president of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 320. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Irish American Club and the American Legion Post No. 71.
