Madeline Elizabeth Cahill, 67, of
910S.W. Hawthorne Circle, Micco,
died Dec. 19, 1997, at her residence
after a prolonged illness.
She was born Dec. 31, 1929, in
New York, N.Y., and moved to
Micco 2 1/2 years ago from Pompano
Beach.
Mrs. Cahill was a member of St.
Luke's Catholic Church of Barefoot
Bay, Moose Lodge No. 1767 and
the Eagles Lodge, both of Sebastian.
She was a eucharistic minister in
Pompano Beach.She was last employed at Waterfall's Restaurant,
Pompano Beach, and various restaurants in New York and Florida.
Surviving are her husband, John;
one son, Robert Allen Wollnoy, of
Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Jo Ann Naylor, of Redding, Calif.,
Theresa Contessa, of Spring Hill,
and Barbara Roybal, of Rincon, Ga.;
eightgrandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a
later date.

Kenneth C. Jaquish, 90, of Sebastian, died Dec. 25, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 1, 1907, in Elton, N.Y. and had been a resident of
Sebastian for 13 years, moving here
from Fort Lauderdale.
He was a dairy farmer.He was a
member of Sheridan Hills Baptist
Church, Hollywood, and a member
of the Sebastian Moose Lodge No.
1767, Sebastian.
He was a former member of the
Grange, Delevan, N.Y., the Oddfellows of Arcade, N.Y. He was in the
county legislature for Cattaraugus
County, N.Y., and a former town
supervisor for the Town of Freedom,
NY.
Survivors include his wife of 69
years, Vera.; his sons, Don Jaquish
of Sebastian and Ron Jaquish of Arcade, N.Y., a daughter, Janet Ward,
of Yorkshire, N.Y., a sister, Elva
Swope of Rochester, N.Y., 18
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held
Dec. 28 at the Community Baptist
Church, Sebastian, with Rev.Ron
Barber officiating.

Mary Larson Yerkes, 95, of
Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 22, 1997, at
Mariner Health Care Center in Melbourne after a brief illness.
She was born March 2, 1902 in
Hagaman, N.Y., and moved to Barefoot Bay four months ago from
Johnstown, N.Y.
Mrs. Yerkes was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Methodist
Church in Johnstown, N.Y., a charter member of the Senior Citizen's
Club and a member of the American
Legion Auxiliary, both in Johnstown, N.Y.
Surviving are her two daughters,
Mary Vedder and Linda Childers,
both of Barefoot Bay; a son, Robert
Yerkes, of DeLand; one brother,
Lars Johnson, of Valatic, N.Y.; one
sister, Dena Summerville, of Oswego, N.Y.; six grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec.
31 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel in Sebastian with the Rev. Ralph
Rivers officiating.
A graveside service will be sometime in the spring at Hagaman Cemetery in Hagaman, N.Y.

Audrey Elliott
Audrey J. Elliott, 68, of Sebastian, died Dec. 28, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland,
after a brief illness.
She was born April 3, 1929, in
Mapleton, Maine, and moved to Sebastian in 1978 from Portage,
Maine.
Mrs. Elliott was counter clerk at
Top Value Enterprise, a stamp redemption center, for 10 years and
was associated with Dunkin Donuts
in Sebastian.
Surviving are a son, William
"Bill" Elliott, of Sebastian; two
brothers, Lloyd Libby of Columbia,
S.C., and Ellery Libby of Sebastian;
two sisters, Vella Bedell of Rockland, Maine, and Alda Frank of
Santa Rosa, Calif.; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held 7
p.m. Jan. 2 at the Strunk Funeral
Home Chapel, Sebastian.
Burial will be at a later date in
Monroe, Maine.

N.Y.
Mrs. White was a bookkeeper for
various Catholic charities.She was a
member of the Welcome Wagon, Sebastian.
Surviving are her husband of 52
years, Charles; one daughter, Gail
Ann Caskin, of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.;
one sister, Gloria Wright, of Sebastian; and three grandchildren.

Gertrude Veronica Lynch, 93, of
Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 26, 1997, at
Sebastian River Medical Center after
an extended illness.
Mrs. Lynch was born July 31,
1904, in Fall River, Mass., and had
been a resident of Barefoot Bay since
1991, moving from Oakland, Calif.
She was a telephone operator for
the New England Telephone Co.,
and a member of St. Luke's Catholic
Church, Barefoot Bay, the New
England Club of Barefoot Bay and
the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas
J. Lynch Jr., of Barefoot Bay, Edward J. Lynch, of Barrington, R.I.,
and William F. Lynch, of Fall River,
Mass.; a sister, Margaret M. Roberts,
of Barefoot Bay; 13 grandchildren;
and 16 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated
Dec. 31 at St. Luke's Catholic
Church, Barefoot Bay, with the Rev.
Lucien Duquette officiating.
Interment followed in St. Joseph
Catholic Church Cemetery, Palm

Julia McMillian Logan Schuch,
82, of Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 27,

Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Schuch was born April 15,
1915, in Scotland, and was a resident of Barefoot Bay for 11 years,
coming from Jappantown, Md.
She was a histologist for Johns
Hopkins Hospital and active in the
Barefoot Bay Swimming Club.
Surviving are her husband of 51
years, Norman; a son, Thomas
Schuch, of Kansas City, Mo.; four
stepchildren; and nine grandchildren.

James H. Forbes
James H. Forbes, 82, of Micco,
died Dec. 29, 1997, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in
Franklin, Va., and moved to Micco
in 1965 from Charlottesville, Va.
Mr. Forbes was a retired master
sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a
22-year veteran of the U.S. Army,
and a veteran of World War II. He
served in the Korean Advisory
Group during the Korean War. He
was a member of The Tabernacle
Church, Melbourne.
Surviving are his wife of 54
years, Erma; one daughter, Hope
Combs, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one
son, Thomas Forbes, of Micco; one
brother, Dr. David Forbes, of Suffolk, Va.; two sisters, Margaret
Brown, of Newport News, Va., and
Sarah DMoch, of Virginia Beach;
four grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

Agnes Margaret Purvis, 80, of

City, Calif.
Mrs. Purvis was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, Palm Bay
and Barefoot Bay Baptist Church.
She was also a member of the Barefoot Bay VFW Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by three sisters,
Mable Beach of Naples, Grace Mathews of Barefoot Bay, and Helen Davidson of Barefoot Bay; and one
brother, Albert Marsh of Chicago.
A memorial service was held Jan.
7 at Barefoot Bay Baptist Church.

Kathryn Baisley, 93, of, Micco,
died Dec. 16, 1997, at Sebastian
River Medical Center in Roseland
following a brief illness.
She was born July 14, 1904, in

moved to Micco in 1978 from
Peekskill, N.Y.
Mrs. Baisley was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter's
Episcopal Church in Peekskill,
American Legion Auxiliary Post No.
189 and Veterans of Foreign Wars
Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 10210,
both of Sebastian.
Surviving are two sons, Arthur

Mr. Sherbrook was a senior field
representative for Martin Aircraft in
Baltimore, and formerly owned Energy Miser in Vero Beach.
Surviving are his wife, Lula;
three sons, Scott Sherbrook, of Sebastian, Darryl Sherbrook, of Vero
Beach, and William Sherbrook Jr., of
San Francisco; one sister, Helen
Walters, of Baltimore; and nine
grandchildren.

grandchild.

Mrs. Boyce was a stenographer

Mrs. Giard was a retired communications specialist for Western Electric, North Andover, Mass. She was

Alexander M. "A.M." Sims, 92,

He was born Oct. 2, 1905, in
Greenville, S.C., and moved to Sebastian 65 years ago from Titusville.
Mr. Sims was a commercial fisherman.He was a member of First
Baptist Church, Sebastian.

Mr. Dalva was employed at
Grumman Aerospace, Bethpage,
N.Y. and Stuart, for 43 years, and
was senior vice president prior to retirement.He served on the boards of
directors of the Martin County
Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA
of Stuart, the Palm Beach Blood
Bank and Channel 42 of Palm
Beach. He was a member of the
United Church of Rockville Centre,
N.Y.

Mrs. Smith was a secretary at
Construction and Drywall, Vero
Beach.She was a member of Central
Assembly of God, Vero Beach. She
was a U.S. Army veteran.

stepfather, Ruth and Guy E. Piercy,

Mr. Westfahl retired from B.F.
Goodrich Research and Development Center as senior research associate. He received his baccalaureate
from the University of Wisconsin
and his doctorate from Cornell University.
Surviving are his wife of 55
years, Arline; one son, Michael
Westfahl, of New Castle, Wash.; two
daughters, Diane Westfahl, of Bothell, Wash., and Karen Lehky, of
Brunswick, Ohio; one sister, Lona
Zillmer, of New Mexico; and six
grandchildren.

Barefoot Bay in 1975 from her
birthplace.
Mrs. Szorc was a nurse at Whitestone Hospital, Queens N.Y., prior
to retirement.She was a member of
St. Sebastian Catholic Church and
St. Sebastian's Ladies Auxiliary
Barefoot Bay Polish Club; and
Micco Fire Department.
Surviving are two daughters,
Dorothy Szorc, of New York, and
Carole Simon, of Baltimore, Md.,
