Bruce Thompson
Bruce D. Thompson, 73, of Sebastian, died May 7, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a brief illness. He was born July 14, 1924, in Pontiac, Mich., and moved to Sebastian in 1996 from Traverse City, Mich. Mr. Thompson worked for Pontiac Division of General Motors Corp. for 35 years, prior to retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society. Surviving are his wife of nine years, Margaret; two sons, Brock Thompson, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and William Thompson, of Clarkston, Mich.; one daughter, Robin Thompson, of Denver, Cob.; and three brothers, Norman Thompson, of Crystal River, and Peter Thompson and Patrick Thompson, both of Gaylord, Mich. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Road, Maltland, Fla. 32751 in Mr. Thompson's memory.

John Ingham
John Paul Ingham, 82, of Micco, died May 9, 1998, at Integrated Health Services of Vero Beach, after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Randolph, Vt., and moved to Micco in 1989 from Fort Pierce. Mr. Ingham was a retired textile chemist. He was a member of the Lions Club in Bennington, Vt., and the Elks Lodge in Windsor, Vt. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Helen; a son, John Paul Ingham Jr., of Burlington, Vt.; a daughter, Joan P. Coia, of South Venice; a brother, Charles Ingham, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a sister, Maybelle Gagne, of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Brevard County Units, 6983 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, Fla., 32940-7549, in memory of Mr. Ingham. Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.

Glenwood Miller
Glenwood W. Miller, 85, 631 Capon St., Sebastian, died May 11, 1998, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Crellum, Md., and moved to Sebastian from San Francisco, Calif., in 1972. Mr. Miller was a member of Masonic Centennial Lodge No, 174, Free and Accepted Masons, Upper Marlboro, Md.; Moose Lodge, Micco; and Assembly of God Church, Sebastian. Surviving is one grandson, Randy Kline, of Germantown, Md. The family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Indian River County, 1111 36th St., Vero Beach, Fla. 32960 in Mr. Miller's memory. Leona Smith
Leona M. Smith, 88, 12925 Indian River Drive, Sebastian, died May 10, 1998, at her residence after a prolonged illness. She was born Nov. 16, 1909, in Oshkosh, Wis., and moved to Vero Beach from Michigan in 1976. Mrs. Smith was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Veto Beach and a member of the church's choir. Surviving are one sister, Loretta Gray, of Frostproof and two grandchildren. Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay, is in charge of arrangements.

George Abbruscato
George James Abbruscato, 54, of Sebastian, died unexpectedly May 12, 1998, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne. He was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Sebastian nine months ago from Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Abbruscato was senior vice president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Indian River National Bank, Vero Beach. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, and Knights of Columbus, Sebastian. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen; two sons, George J. Abbruscato and Bryan S. Poole, both of Memphis; one daughter, Michelle Sanderford, of Memphis; his parents, Marty and Rose Abbruscato, of Tamarac; two sisters, Carolyn Gucciardo and Lorraine Genovese, both of Coral Springs; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 15 at Cox-Gifford Funeral Home, Vero Beach. Mr. Abbruscato was transferred to Memphis Memorial Funeral Home for funeral services and interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis.

Annie Laster
Annie B. Laster, 90, of Wabasso, died May 16, 1998, at Dixie Oak Manor, Vero Beach, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 25, 1907, in Blountstown, and moved to Wabasso in 1954 from St. Lucie County. Mrs. Laster was a homemaker and had worked for Graves Brothers Packing House for 7 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wabasso. Survivors include one son, James L. Laster Jr., of Vero Beach; two daughters, Lena Mae Chambers, of Oklahoma City, Okia., and Faye Knight, of Live Oak; two sisters, Ada Jean Barrow, of Cordele, Ga., and Suzie Collins, of Scriven, Ga.; two brothers, Freeman, Hall and John T. Hall, both of Cordele; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Funeral services were held May 19 at the Strunk Funeral Home chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Interment followed in Winter Beach Cemetery, Winter Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to VNA/Hospice, 1111 36th St., Vero Beach, Fla., 32960, in memory of Mrs. Laster.

Margaret Dawson
Margaret Behrens Dawson, 85, of Barefoot Bay, died May 15, 1998, in Palm Bay after a brief illness. She was born June 13, 1912, in Glencoe, Ill., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1977 from Lake Geneva, Wis. Mrs. Dawson was a bookkeeper at Anetsburger Brothers, Northbrook, Ill. for 20 years. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay, Barefoot Bay Homemakers and Barefoot Bay Homeowners Association. She was a Barefoot Bay Lions Club aide. Surviving are two sons, Charles Dawson, of Round Lake Beach, Ill., and Vincent Dawson, of Sebastian; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. May 22 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel in Sebastian, with the Rev. Patrick O'Carroll officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Micco Fire and Rescue Department, 301 Barefoot Blvd., Micco, Fla. 32976 in Mrs. Dawson's memory.

Joseph Wagner
Joseph Roman Wagner, 73, of Sebastian, died May 15, 1998, at Indian River Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born May 31, 1924, in Germany, and moved to Sebastian nine years ago from Fair Lawn, N.J. Mr. Wagner was a national sales manager with Panasonic in Secaucus, N.J., for 17 years. He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II, and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach, Moose Lodge No. 1764, Sebastian; Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge, Vero Beach, and Disabled American Veterans, a national organization. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; two sons, Joe Wagner, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Bill Wagner, of Columbia, S.C.; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 19 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Veto Beach, with the Rev. Shawn Flynn officiating. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce. The Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, was in charge of arrangements.

John Aleks
John Aleks, 54, 11330 Indian River Drive, Sebastian, died unexpectedly May 14, 1998, at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Mr. Aleks was born May 28, 1943, in Orlando, and moved to Sebastian six months ago from Vero Beach. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Post 39, AMVETS Post 6, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918; Moose Lodge Number 1822; and the Viemam Veterans of America. Surviving are his mother, Mary Jane Noble, of Orlando; a brother, Edmund Aleks, of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; and a sister, Patricia Johnson, of Vero Beach. Arrangements are under the direction of Beacon's National Cremation Society, Winter Park.

Anna Detmer
Anna D. Detmer, 69, of Sebastian, died May 14, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a prolonged illness. She was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Lima, Ohio, and moved to Sebastian 15 years ago from Houghton Lake, Mich. Mrs. Detmer was a member of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, Sebastian. She retired from Sebastian city government, where she worked in the finance department. Surviving are one son, David Detmer, of Sebastian; one daughter, Diana Barnum, of Sebastian; one sister, Betty Jones, of Sebastian; three brothers, Bob Pennypacker, of Otter Creek, Paul Pennypacker, of North Carolina, and Tommy Pennypacker, of Ohio; and three grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service was held May 16 at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, Sebastian, with the Rev. Robert Lieffort officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Lung Association of Southeast Florida, 2701 N. Australian Ave., West Paim Beach, Fla. 33407 in Mrs. Detmer's memory. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Indian River Cremations Inc., Veto Beach.

Carl Johnson
Carl Yorgen Johnson, 83, of Sebastian, died May 13, 1998, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born July 28, 1914, in Keasbey, N.J., and moved to Vero Beach 22 years ago from Point Pleasant, N.Y. Mr. Johnson retired from General Motors as a general supervisor. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department of Veto Lake Estates; Moose Lodge, Micco; Indian River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Veto Beach; and Active Singles Club, Veto Beach. Surviving are four daughters, Carol E. Johnson, of Sebastian, Debra Kahan, of Sacramento, Calif., Dorene Wacaster, of Long Island, N.Y., and Donna McCurdy, of Veto Beach; two sons, Roger W. Johnson, of Mesa, Ariz., and Wayne C. Johnson, of Grant; one brother, Harry Johnson, of Sebastian; two sisters, Grace Maggio, of Bonita Springs, and Gladys Brusso, of Toms River, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his companion, Shirley Batricevich, of Sebastian A memorial service was held May 18 at First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian, 1405 Louisiana Ave., Sebastian. Theresa Holland
Theresa M. Holland, 72, 710 E. Lark Drive, Barefoot Bay, died unexpectedly May 17, 1998, in Micco. She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1974 from Toms River, N.J. Mrs. Holland was former vice president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary, Barefoot Bay. She was a charter member of Barefoot Bay Country Club and Ladies Guild, both of Barefoot Bay. She was a member of the Irish American Club, Ladies Ninth Hole Golf Association and St. Luke Catholic Church, all of Barefoot Bay. She was a Sunday School teacher at St. Luke Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, Palmer John Holland III, of Fort Lauderdale, and Robert Holland, of East Sttoudsburg, Pa.; one daughter, Catherine Holland, of Anchorage, Alaska; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be 9:30. a.m. May 22 at St. Luke Catholi Church, Barefoot Bay. The family suggests donations be made to St. Luke Catholic Church, P.O. Box 779-114, Barefoot Bay, Fla. 32976 in Mrs. Holland's memory. Fountainhead Memorial Funeral, Home, Palm Bay, is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Rockhill
Mildred R. Rockhill, 76, 925 Fir St., Barefoot Bay, died unexpectedly May 17, 1998, in Micco. She was born Oct. 12, 1921, in Milton, N.Y., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1983 from Kingston, N.Y. Mrs. Rockhill was a member of Lion Aldes and Italian American Club, both of Barefoot Bay; Loyal Order of Moose, Micco; and St. Luke Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay. Surviving are one daughter, June Ross, of New Paltz, N.Y.; one son, Vincent Buckman, of Pinellas Park; one brother, Nicholas Dort, of Highland, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held 1 a.m. May 21 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay. Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay, is in charge of arrangements.

Philip Lindenberger
Philip D. "Lindy" Lindenberger, 86, of Barefoot Bay, died May 22, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center. He was born in VanWest, Ohio, and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1985 from Delray Beach. Mr. Lindenberger retired from Pantry Pride as a grocery store manager. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Alice; a daughter, Donna R. Tinker, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sons, Philip Lindenberger of Laurel, Md., and Thomas Lindenberger of Punta Gorda; a sister, Helen Jane Menefce of Silver Spring, Md.; a brother, Cecil Lindenberger, of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A service was held May 27 at the Fountainhead Memorial Chapel, Palm Bay. Burial was in Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery.

Eleanor Hummer
Eleanor Lovre Hummer, 82, 1210 Periwinkle Circle, Barefoot Bay, died May 23, 1998, after a prolonged illness. She was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Cincinnati and moved from Kalamazoo, Mich., to Barefoot Bay in 1982. Mrs. Hummer was a past president of the Barefoot Bay Kiwanis Club. Surviving are her husband, Herbert; two brothers, Edward Hummer and Ralph Hummer, both of Cincinnati; and one sister, Evelyn Hugo, of Cincinnati. Arrangements are under the direction of Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay.

Thomas Young
Thomas Pierce "T.P." Young, 71, of Barefoot Bay, died May 24, 1998, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Alexandria, Pa., and moved to Barefoot Bay in March from Bainbridge, Ga. Mr. Young was vice president of Pan American Windows, Miami, vice president of transportation for C.E. Building, Moultrie, Ga., and for Keller Industries, North Miami, and was the owner/operator of Palm Builders, Fort Lauderdale. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Allandale. Mr. Young was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Marines. He was a life member of the Bainbridge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4904 and a member of the Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Harriet; two daughters, Carol Savchuk of Delray Beach and Janice Johnson of Weston; two sons, Karl P. Young of Bainbridge, and Greg Johnson of Banner Elk, NC.; and 5 grandchildren. A memorial service was held at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev. Paul Hauenstein officiating. Military honors, conducted by the Sebastian VFW Post No. 10210 and the Sebastian American Legion Post No. 189, followed the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Mr. Young.
