Winefride Blohm
Winefride Loretta "Winnie" Blohm, 72, of Sebastian, died
Dec. 12, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland,
after a brief illness.
She was born May 10, 1926, in Jersey City, N.J., and
moved to Sebastian 18 years ago from Boynton Beach.
Mrs. Blohm was a member and former secretary at St.
Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, for nine years. She
was a member of St. Sebastian Church Women's Guild. She
was the secretary at St. Mark Catholic Church, Boynton
Beach, for 16 years, prior to moving to Sebastian.
Surviving are her husband, Bill; one son, William Richard
Blohm, of Rowlett, Texas; one daughter, Mary W. Testa, of
Mesquite, Texas; one brother, William Joseph Blohm, of
Barefoot Bay; and four grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was Dec. 17 at St. Sebastian Catholic
Church, Sebastian, with the Rev. John Block officiating.

Suzanne Paul
Suzanne R. "Sue" Paul, 68, of Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 14,
1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a
prolonged illness.
She was born July 15, 1930, in Washington, D.C., and
moved to Barefoot Bay in 1994 from Blue Bell, Pa.
Mrs. Paul was a graduate of Cedarcrest College,
Allentown, Pa. and was a psychotherapist at Valley Forge
Medical Center, Norristown, Pa. She was a member of St.
Dunstan's Episcopal Church, Blue Bell, and a member of
the Irish-American and Mid-Atlantic Clubs, both of
Barefoot Bay.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, William; one
daughter, Katherine Belcher, of Blue Bell; one son,
William P. Paul III of New York, N.Y.; and three
grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may
be made to the charity of one's choice in Mrs. Paul's
memory.

Leo Rodweller
Leo Robert Rodweller, 76, 919 Balsam St., Barefoot Bay,
died Dec. 14, 1998, at Holmes Regional Medical Center after
a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Princeton, N.J., and moved
to Barefoot Bay in 1984 from Coventry, R.I.
Mr. Rodweller was a marketing representative with Mobil
Oil Corp. for 22 years prior to retirement in 1984. He
earned a bachelor's degree from Bryant College,
Providence, R.I. He retired in 1960 from the U.S. Marine
Corps after serving 20 years. He was a member of the
Barefoot Bay Golf and Country Club, Barefoot Bay.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Florence; one son,
Robert Rodweller, of Palm Bay; one brother, Joseph
Rodweller, of Houlton, Maine; and three granddaughters.
A memorial service was Dec. 18 at Fountainhead Memorial
Funeral Home Chapel.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Fountainhead
Memorial Park, Palm Bay.

Sidney Kahn
Sidney Kahn, 69, of Sebastian, died Dec. 16, 1998, at his
residence after a prolonged illness.
He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Baltimore, Md., and moved
to Sebastian 16 years ago from Tampa.
Mr. Kahn was an executive with Montgomery Ward and a U.S.
Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Judith; one daughter,
Laurel Kahn, of Sebastian; one sister, Arleen Kahn, of
New York, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
At the family's request, there will be no repose or
visitation.
No services are scheduled.

Iris Zimmer
Iris Zimmer, 78, of Sebastian, died Dec. 17, 1998, at
Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a prolonged
illness.
She was born Dec. 5, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved
to Sebastian seven years ago from Plantation.
Mrs. Zimmer was a housekeeper for Pier 66 Hotel, Fort
Lauderdale. She retired from University Community
Hospital, Tamarac.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Edward; two sons,
Harry Plunkett, of Palm Beach, and Donald Zimmer, of
Coconut Creek; one daughter, Sally Sutton, of North
Carolina; two brothers, Clifford Riley, of Boynton Beach,
and Willis Riley, of Port Charlotte; one sister, Ruth
Coy, of Tennessee; and five grandchildren.
At the family's request, there will be no repose or
visitation.

be said in Mrs. Zimmer's memory.

William Garrett
William Rowe "Pat" Garrett, 63, of Sebastian, died
unexpectedly Dec. 18, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical
Center in Roseland.
He was born Dec. 21, 1934, in New Smyrna Beach, and moved
to Sebastian five years ago from Vero Beach.
Mr. Garrett was a supervisor and lieutenant for 23 years
with the Indian River County Correctional Institution. He
was a member of the Moose Lodge in Vero Beach, National
Riflemen's Association and Port Malabar Pistol & Rifle
Club. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during
World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; five sons, William R.
Garrett III, of Grant, Tom Moore, of Melbourne, Paul
Moore and Patrick Moore, both of Sebastian, and Phillip
Moore, of Palm Bay; three daughters, Jeanne Garrett
Elmore, of Geneva, Kathy Rubel , of Clarksville, Tenn.,
and Jean Riggs, of Sebastian; his mother, Jessie Spencer
Garrett, of Oak Hill; two brothers, Albert E. Garrett, of
Oak Hill, and A.B. Garrett III, of Geneva; one sister,
Patricia Garrett Smith, of Rockledge; 17 grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was Dec. 22 at Strunk Funeral Home,
Sebastian chapel with Chaplain Franklin Smith of the
Indian River County Correctional Institution officiating.
Burial followed in Sebastian Cemetery.
Mary Goodman
Mary H. Goodman, 72, of Satellite Beach, died unexpectedly
Dec. 17, 1998, in Indian Harbor Beach.
She was born April 26, 1926, in Providence, R.I., and
moved to Satellite Beach two months ago from Barefoot
Bay, where she lived for six years.
Mrs. Goodman was a secretary and worked for the state of
Rhode Island. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic
Church, Sebastian, and New England Club, Barefoot Bay.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Myron; one
daughter, Christine Hooker, of Satellite Beach; four
brothers, William Hobin and Robert Hobin, both of
Pawtaucket, R.I., James Hobin, of Melbourne, and Raymond
Hobin, of East Greenwich, R.I.; two sisters, Claire
Deery, of Barefoot Bay, and Dorothy Murphy, of Warwick,
R.I.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was Dec. 23 at St. Sebastian Catholic
Church, Sebastian.
Burial will follow in Sebastian Cemetery.

Caroline Greene
Caroline P. Greene, 69, of Sebastian, died unexpectedly
Dec. 21, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center.
She was born June 30, 1929, in Boston, Mass., and moved
to Sebastian 16 years ago from Groton, Conn.
Mrs. Greene was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church,
Randolph, Mass., the Order of the Eastern Star, Key West,
and was past president of the Sebastian ELDOES.
Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Robert; her mother,
Sarah Hastings, of Abington, Mass.; one son, Robert
Greene, of Fort Pierce; three daughters, Patricia Carol
Carito, of Danielson, Conn., Deborah Bell, of Fellsmere,
and Bonny Dyer, of Juno; two brothers, Edward Hastings,
of Hull, Mass., and Phillip Hastings, of Groton; two
sisters, Marta MacRoberts, of Abington, and Barbara
Swenson, of Hampton Falls, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
At the family's request, there will be no repose or
visitation.
A memorial reception will be 2-5 p.m. Dec. 28 at the
Sebastian Elks Lodge.

Marshall Case
Marshall Lefford Case, 93, of Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 6,
1998, at his residence after a prolonged illness.
He was born July 30, 1905, in Philadelphia and moved to
Barefoot Bay in 1973 from Colony, N.Y.
Mr. Case was self-employed as an accountant. He was a
former member of Congregational Church, Rochester, N.Y.
and the Republican Club.
Surviving is one brother, Edmond Case, of Rochester.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation or
service.

John Smith
John Henry Smith, 81, of Sebastian, died Dec. 5, 1998, at
his residence after a prolonged illness.
He was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Horning, Pa., and moved to
Sebastian in 1987 from Allison Park, Pa.
Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War
II. He was a retired self-employed real estate broker and
was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Club,
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3918, and Real Estate
Board, all in Vero Beach. He was a member of the National
Board of Realtors and Retired Officers Association. He
was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in
Sebastian.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; six sons, John F.
Smith, Paul C. Smith and Peter E. Smith, all of
Pittsburgh, James A. Smith, of Allison Park, William M.
Smith, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brian J. Smith, of
Sterling, Va.; five daughters, Christine Cicci, of
Auburn, Ala., Patty Joe Carr, of Hendricks, W.Va., Kathy
Gordon, of Camarillo, Calif., Barbara Watts, of
Cleveland, Ohio, and Paula Bayer, of Erie, Pa.; one
brother, Joseph Smith, of Tucson, Ariz.; 26
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service was Dec. 10 at Florida National
Cemetery, Bushnell.

Alan G. Betancourt, 52, of Sebastian, died Dec. 8, 1998, at
Indian River Memorial Hospital after a prolonged illness.
He was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to
Sebastian 15 years ago from Gila, N.M.
Mr. Betancourt was employed as a certified nurse's aide
for Visiting Nurses Association, Vero Beach, for five
years.
Surviving are his mother, Anna Betancourt, of Sebastian;
and two brothers, Donald Betancourt, of Bradenton, and
Michael Betancourt, of Boulder, Colo.

James Robson
James Patrick Robson, 71, of Sebastian, died Dec. 10, 1998,
at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a
prolonged illness.
He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved
to Sebastian three years ago from Lowman, N.Y.
Mr. Robson was a foreman for National Homes Corp.,
Horseheads, N.Y., for 25 years. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a
member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10210,
Sebastian.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Betty; one son, James
P. Robson Jr., of Andrews Air Force Base, Md.; five
daughters, Flotella Bowers, of Chemung, N.Y., Sheila
Boothby, of Lockwood, N.Y., Kathi Brown, of Halton City,
Texas, April Way, of Brandon, and Tammie Gentz, of
Horseheads; one brother, John Robson, of Sebastian; one
sister, Anna Savone, of Sebastian; 15 grandchildren; and
six great-grandchildren.

Eugene Mahalick, 82, of Sebastian, died Dec. 10, 1998, at
Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, after a
prolonged illness.
He was born July 1, 1916, in Wallington, N.J., and moved
to Sebastian in 1978 from his birthplace.
Mr. Mahalick was a textile engraver at Excel IV,
Wallington, prior to retirement. He was a member of St.
Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian. He was a member and
3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, No. 3644,
Wallington; a member and past commander of Pavlick-Koster
Post No. 2640 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wallington; a
member of American Legion Post No. 359, Passaic, N.J. and
Greater Passaic Old Timers Athletic Club.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Shirley; three
sisters, Dorothy Mahalick, of Wallington, Anna Sabia, of
Carlstadt, N.J., and Genevieve Penella, of Fairlawn, N.J.

Sebastian chapel conducted by the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass was Dec. 14 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church,
Sebastian. Military honors conducted by American Legion

Ann Honyotski
Ann J. Honyotski, 85, of Fellsmere, died unexpectedly Dec.
11, 1998, at Indian River Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 27, 1913, in Spring Valley, N.Y., and
moved to Fellsmere in 1968 from Waterbury, Conn.
Mrs. Honyotski was a bookkeeper at Park Manor Home,
Waterbury, Conn., and a member of Hibiscus Grange,
Fellsmere, and Eastern Star Chapter No. 204, Sebastian.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Thomas Honyotski Jr.,
Brian Honyotski and Elizabeth Honyotski, all of
Naugatuck, Conn., and Michael Honyotski, of Meriden,
Conn.; and one great-grandchild.
Friends called Dec. 15 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.
Mrs. Honyotski will be transferred to Alderson Funeral
Home in Naugatuck for further services and burial in
Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck.

Anita Rowe
Anita F. Rowe, 71, of Barefoot Bay, died unexpectedly Dec.
11, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center.
She was born March 7, 1927, in Tarrytown, N.Y., and moved
to Barefoot Bay five years ago from Pembroke Pines.
Mrs. Rowe was a homemaker. She was a member of the U.S.
Army Airborne Retirement Club of the Florida Chapter of
the Rakkasans.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, John; one son,
Michael Rowe, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Pam
Istvan, of Hollywood; and two grandchildren.
A prayer service was Dec. 14 in the Strunk Funeral Home,
Sebastian, chapel, with the Rev. Lucien Duquette
officiating.
