He was born in Burlington, Mass., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Stoneham, Mass. He retired after 25 years as a mechanic for Smyly Buick, Malden, Mass. He was a member of High Point Golf Club and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; two sons, David F. McClay of Santa Cruz, Calif., and William A. McClay Jr. of Woburn, Mass.; a brother, Robert O. McClay of Woburn; and three grandchildren.
