He was born in Rockford, Ill., and moved to this area a year ago from Watersmeet, Upper Peninsula, Mich.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; two sons, Jay of St. Petersburg and Joel of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Susan Sewell of Bradenton and Jennifer Cunningham of Wausau, Wis.; a brother, Lawrence Sewell of Rockford; two stepsons, Jake Richards of Rockford and Matthew Richards of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to this area 18 years ago from Drexel Hill, Pa. She was a retired vice president of ANA Insurance Agency and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent; a brother, Charles F. Burrows of Florida; and a sister, Susan Emma Zukowski of University, Wash.

James J. Larkins Sr., 71, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Florida 43 years ago. He moved to this area recently from Pinellas County. He was a retired sergeant major in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Korean conflict veteran. He was also retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the VFW, Marine Corps Association, National Association of Letter Carriers and St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; three sons, James Jr., Ronald H. and Scott M.; two daughters, Michele Powlus and Leanne Hancock; and 10 grandchildren.

E. Darrell Smith, 77, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Clarksville, Tenn., and moved to this area 26 years ago from Holmdel, N.J. He was a wildlife/Audubon artist, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura Smith of Montauk, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Warren J. Blasi, 85, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of Timber Pines Bocce Club and the Newcomer's Club, and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jayne; a son, John; two daughters, Patricia M. Watters of Vienna, Va., and Pamela N. Balkin of Ellicott City, Md.; a sister, Doris Danzi of New Hampshire; and three grandchildren.

Elizabeth Kirtsinger, 96, of Cloverleaf, Brooksville, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Waukegan, Ill., and moved to this area 14 years ago from Asheville, N.C. She was the owner/operator of a restaurant and was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Anita K. Potts of Brooksville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Joe W. Newton, 83, of Brooksville, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was born in Estill, S.C., and moved to this area 18 years ago from Mt. Vernon, N.Y. He was a retired butler and chauffeur, and was a member of Northside Church of Christ.
He is survived by a host of cousins.

Stella Gerlack, 89, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Elm Tree Lodge, New Port Richey.
She moved to this area 23 years ago from her native Bronx, N.Y. She was a keypunch operator for New York Life and R. Hoe & Co., and attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include her husband, Robert: two daughters, Jeanette Lentz and Rosalie Yorro, both of Spring Hill; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Laurence M. Jachrimo, 63, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to this area 16 years ago from Massachusetts. He was a master gunsmith by profession, a member of the National Rifle Association and Hernando Sportsmen Association, a Dade City Range Officer and won the Florida State Champion Pistol Shooting title. He was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline; a daughter, Cindyann Schrade of Spring Hill; a son, John of Spring Hill; his father, Timothy Jachrimo of Spring Hill; a sister, Christine Hagar of Vermont; and many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., and moved to this area 25 years ago from New England. He was a member of the Timber Pines Golf & Country Club, and an active member of the Newcomers Club of Timber Pines and the Monday and Thursday Timber Pines Card Group. He was a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; four sons, Joseph of Texas, Douglas of Maine, William of New Hampshire, and David of Spring Hill; a daughter, Sandra Taylor of Spring Hill; and eight grandchildren.

Wanetta D. May, 87, of Brooksville, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at her home.

Survivors include a son, Joseph May of Brooksville; a daughter, Patricia Robb of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joseph John "Joe" Strasko Sr., 85, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Plainfield, N.J., and moved to this area 23 years ago from Ortley Beach, N.J. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in France and Germany. He earned the Bronze and Purple Heart for being wounded in Hurken Forest in Germany. He owned and operated Joe's Calso Service Station, Plainfield, for 23 years. He retired from Samoset Laundry and Dry Cleaning, Plainfield. After moving to Ortley Beach, he worked as an EMT for the Ortley Beach Rescue Squad and attained the rank of Captain. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Post 67, Brooksville, and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Regina; two sons, Joseph J. Strasko Jr. of Coral Springs and Ronald J. Strasko of Lancaster, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Georges Sainte-Rose, 79, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Heron Pointe Care Center Facility.
He was born in Martinique, French West Indies, and migrated to Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1947, where he worked as a jeweler for 41 years. He moved to this area nine years ago from Mastic, N.Y. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife, Enid; a stepdaughter, Velda Brown of Spring Hill; a brother, Pierre of Martinique; a sister, Georgette of Martinique; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Joseph Anthony Madalon, 73, of Brookridge, Brooksville, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was born in Calumet City, Ill., and moved to this area 20 years ago from St. Petersburg. He was a mason in new home construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 186, Hernando County Senior Citizens Club, Brookridge Pinochle Club, High Point Cribbage Club, and St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Men's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a brother, Philip of New Port Richey; a sister, Jenny Helton of San Jose; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy H. Rey, 82, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital.
She moved to this area 24 years ago from her native Staten Island, N.Y. She was a retired payroll clerk, a 20-year volunteer at Oak Hill Hospital and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she served as an altar assistant.
Survivors include a stepson, Charles Rey of Red Bank, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Valerie Karcher of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandsons; three granddaughters; a niece; two grandnephews; and two grandnieces.

Gerald Welshoff, 74, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Lackawanna, N.Y. After a lifelong banking career, moved to this area 17 years ago from Garnerville, Rockland County, N.Y., where he had lived for 30 years. He was a volunteer fireman with S.W. Johnson Steam Engine Co. for 27 years. He was president of the Rockland Co. Fireman's Association and past president of the Rotary Club, Haverstraw, N.Y. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he served as a lecturer, first chairperson for the church's annual ethnic festival and past president of the Holy Name Society. He was a member and treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 11317 and 4th Degree member of the Rev. Cornelius Dougherty Council 1721, having served as Past Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, District Deputy and State Deputy. He was a Korean conflict veteran, having served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of VFW Post 10209, Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two sons, Mark Anthony Welshoff of Florida, N.Y., and Gerald Leo Welshoff of Franklin, Mass.; his mother, Mary of Lackawanna, N.Y.; a brother, Nicholas of North Oxford, Mass.; two grandsons; three granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Louis Salute, 84, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Florida 13 years ago from Bergenfield, N.J. He was a foreman and team leader for Cosden Constructions in New Jersey, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of Sons of Italy, Spring Hill, and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Bergenfield, and a committee member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 180 where he assisted with overnight outings.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son, Louis D. of Connecticut; a daughter, Nancy DiSciascio of Hernando Beach; a brother, Teddy Salute of Florida; a sister, Anne Timm of New Jersey; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

William C. Singer, 89, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Spring Hill Health and Rehab Center.
He was born in Goldsboro, Md., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Largo. He was educated in Brooklyn, N.Y., and spent most of his adult life in Wantagh, N.Y. He had a lifelong career in aerospace quality control administration at Grumman Aircraft Company before retiring to Florida.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara S. Vitters of Arlington, Mass., and Nancy M. Singer of Southampton, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Paul "Paulie" Andrew Bova, 34, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area a year ago from Hollywood. He was a dispatcher for Ferguson Enterprise, Hollywood, for over five years and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his father, Michael Angelo Bova of Spring Hill; and two brothers; Michael Judd Bova of Spring Hill and Santo Bova of Miami.

Elder John Capel Sr., of Brooksville, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Stafford, Ala., and moved to this area 42 years ago from Uniontown, Ala. He was a retired truck driver and the Healing Pastor of Holy Band D.T., Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Capel; seven sons, John Capel Jr. of Gainesville, Jeffrey Capel of Homestead, Terrance, Tony and Eric, all of Brooksville, and Randall and Willie of Utica, N.Y.; four daughters, Taresha, Kathy, Dorothy and Veronica, all of Brooksville; two sisters, Clara of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Alma Jones of Brooksville; 43 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Earnestine M. Cox of Quincy; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was an account executive for 37 years for MetLife, New York, a Korean conflict U.S. Air Force veteran and a National Guardsman for 20 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in New Milford, N.J. for 10 years, a past Boy Scout treasurer and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lelia "Deen"; two sons, Marc D. of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., and Paul A. of Lighthouse Point; a daughter, Patricia A Smith of Spring Hill; and three grandchildren.

She was a lifelong resident of Hernando County. She was employed at Badcock Home Furnishing stores of Brooksville and Dade City for 34 years, being a retail dealer for 10 years in Dade City. She was a member of Spring Lake United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles "Charlie" H. Batten Sr.; five sons, Charles H. Jr., John W., Robert G., and William Dale, all of Brooksville, and Wayne of Zephyrhills; two daughters, Charlotte Kiefer of San Antonio and Shirley Price of Brooksville; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
