She was born in Estate Dorothea of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and moved to this area 21 years ago from New York, N.Y. She was a homemaker and a Christian by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Karl; a son, Vincent Roy of St. Thomas; a daughter, Florence Rita Bambini of Spring Hill; two brothers, Carl and Gene Bryan, both of St. Thomas; three sisters, Rita Ryke of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gweneth Gilhooley of Naples and Beryl Famiglietti of Woodbridge, Va.; and a grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Henry P.R. Borger; three sons, Harold W. Rix of Warwick, R.I., James F. Rix of Allegan, Mich., and Robert G. Rix of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Dena J. Radley of Scottsville, Va., and Mary Ellen Rix of Pensacola; a brother, Frederick Wells of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and five grandchildren.

Jacqueline A. Chasey, 69, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at her home.
She was born in Irvington, N.J., and moved to Florida seven years ago from Asbury Park, N.J. She was a retired waitress, a member of the Hernando Beach Yacht Club and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Garrett; two daughters, Melissa Duval of Spring Hill and Marlie Laken of Oakhurst, N.J.; her mother, Violet E. Biehl; a sister, Roberta Iverson of Crystal River; and eight grandchildren.

Harold F. Lerschen, 84, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He moved to this area 28 years ago from his native Marshall, Minn. He was a retired postal carrier with 18 years of service in Marshall. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, an active Navy reservist for 20 years and served two terms as a county commissioner for Lyon County, Minn., a former and youngest elected mayor in Minnesota, and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Marshall.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura J. Ahlin of Trego, Wis., and Mary R. Lerschen of San Diego, Calif.; and a granddaughter.

Joseph Angel Montes, infant, of Spring Hill, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.

James R. "Jim" Cofer, 82, of Mud River, Weeki Wachee, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Spring Lake and was a lifelong resident of Hernando County. He owned Hernando Paving and was an aircraft pilot and mechanic at the Brooksville Airport. He was a U.S. Navy Armed Guard veteran, having served throughout World War II and won battle stars for convoy battles in the North Atlantic. He was a craftsman and gunsmith who made many of his own guns. He was a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Suzette Alexander of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Bo Cofer of Mud River and Richard Gary Cofer of Spring Lake.

Joseph D. DeVito, 80, of Timber Pines, Spring Hill, died Tuesday, March 23, 2005, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area 15 years ago from New Hyde Park, Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of Timber Pines Golf and Grasshoppers Club and St. Theresa Catholic Church. He was a volunteer fireman in Purchase, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Joseph Jr. of Milford, Conn., Robert of Howard Beach, N.Y., and Thomas Coleman of Bellmore, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas of Timber Pines; a sister, Rose Marie McCormick of Fredericksburg, Va.; and five grandchildren.

Astrid Eriksen, 98, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Evergreen Woods, Spring Hill.
She was born in Norway and moved to Florida 22 years ago from Yonkers, N.Y. She was a retired owner and operator of a Norwegian delicatessen in Brooklyn, N.Y., past member of the Sons of Norway, and a Lutheran by faith.
Survivors include her son, Walter Eriksen of Spring Hill; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary "Maura" B. Thompson, 74, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at her home.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area 14 years ago from Middletown, N.J. She was a retired bus driver with 25 years of service for the Middletown Board of Education, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and its Widows and Singles Club. She also drove the Sunshine Van so others could attend Mass at the church.
Survivors include three sons, William J. of Palm Coast, Stephen J. of Brooksville and Edward of Spring Hill; three daughters, Christine Johnson of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., Susan Guzzi of Middletown and Mary Beth Wetzel of Payette, Idaho; a brother, James Keogh of Toms River, N.J.; a sister, Elizabeth Balaniz of Spring Hill; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

George Auld, 87, of Spring Hill, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at a foster care home in Spring Hill.
He was born in Scotland and moved to this area six years ago from Long Beach, Calif. He retired from White Westinghouse after 10 years of service as an electrician.
Survivors include four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Betty Montgomery, 55, of Homosassa, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital.

Survivors include her father, Robert Smith of Spring Hill; and a sister, Brenda Thorns of Pennsylvania.

Mary J. Valrose, 89, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area a year ago from Elgin, Ill. She was a factory worker for Spinner Brothers book manufacturing.
Survivors include her son, Anthony Valrose of Spring Hill; a brother, Louis Spoto of Orland Park, Ill.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Alfred R. Pagano, 79, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at his home.
He was born in New York, N.Y., and before moved to this area 19 years ago from Long Island, N.Y.
He worked as a cutter and grader in the Amalgamated International Ladies Garment Union, was a past member of the Spring Hill Civic Association, served as a union representative and organized and established the Delta Wood Bocce Club in Spring Hill. He enjoyed oil painting, pinochle and dominoes. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Coviello of Wellington, Fla., Joanne Abbene of Spring Hill and Carol Roberts of Brooksville; a sister, Viola Milano of Budd Lake, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.

Helen B. Collins, 80, of Brooksville, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Berea, Ky., and moved here 15 years ago from Shady Hills, Fla. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Collins; son, Donnie Collins of Spring Hill; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

Elaine Decoster, 84, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005 in Spring Hill.
She was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved here 24 years ago from Defiance, Ohio. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Decoster of Florida and David Decoster of Pinellas Park; three daughters, Sharon Richard of Spring Hill, Linda Miller of Antwerp, Ohio, and Cindy Schneider of Hudson; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Robert E. Hart, 71, of Brooksville, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Monessen, Pa., and moved to Florida 26 years ago from Phoenix, Ariz. He was a retired truck driver and contractor, a Korean conflict U.S. Air Force veteran, and a member of First United Methodist Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; five sons, Robert L. of Oak Grove, Md., Alan D. of Brooksville, Dale G. of Tampa, Rodney L. Pond of Seattle, Wash., and Bradley D. of Ocala; six daughters, Vickie Thompson of Shawnee, Kan., Sherrie Edwards of Humansville, Mo., Katherine Holmes and Phoebe Pond-Hart, both of Brooksville, Laura Murdock of Dallas, Texas, and Sommer Hart of Phoenix; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Dorr of Windham; a daughter, Belinda Herring of Bridgeton, Maine; two grandchildren; and her longtime companion, Gerald Shaw of Spring Hill.

Marie Ruth Sirucka, 89, of Masaryktown, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Ratiskovice, Czechoslovakia, and moved to this area 51 years ago from Endicott, N.Y. She was owner/operator of Marie's Beauty Shop, Masaryktown, a member of Masaryktown Recreation Club and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Mission Circle, and an active member in her community and church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sidney Romine and Linda Lovelady, both of Masaryktown; a sister, Geraldine Rehurek of Masaryktown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Richard E. Burry, 83, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005.
He was born in Larchmont, N.Y., moved to Fort Lauderdale 58 years ago from New York and to this area 11 years ago.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving as a lieutenant in the Asian area. He founded the Hernando Chess Club and was a member of the Hernando Sportsman's Club, United Sportsmen and American Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Georgette; two sons, Richard G. Burry of Coral Springs and Devitt Scott Burry of San Francisco, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Dorothy A. Most, 97, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Tekamah, Neb., moved to Brooksville 32 years ago from Denver, Colo., moved to Loveland, Colo. 26 years ago, and returned to Brooksville three years ago. She taught elementary school in Windside, Neb., and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb. She was the first female school board member in the State of Nebraska, a life member of Zeta Tau Alpha National Sorority, and a member of First Lutheran Church, Ridge Manor West, where her husband was the first full-time minister. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a full-time minister's wife.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth D. Hill of Brooksville and Fayth Ann Mueller of Yukon, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Trinidad Bedoya, 84, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
She was born in Colombia, South America, and moved to this area 13 years ago from Queens, N.Y.
Survivors include two daughters, Maria Lind of Spring Hill and Patricia Rojas of Queens; two sisters, Rosa Medina and Ligia Aguirre, both of Colombia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
