Bernard H. Schmitt, 69, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at his home. He was born in New York City and came here 14 years ago from New York City. He was a Lutheran by faith.
He retired from the Bank of New York as Supervisor of Trust Banking. He was past president of the Lutheran School Council and was a Naval Reservist.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie of Spring Hill; two sons, Steven of Herndon, Va., and Eric of Long Beach, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan Bryja of Houston, Texas, and Debbie Tobin of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

William J. Fitzgerald, 92, of Spring Hill, died Friday, July 2, 2004 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Brooksville. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he moved to Florida in 1956 from Sturgeon Bay, Wis. He was a retired lineman for Bell Telephone and a private yacht captain. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Quite Bird Men Tampa Hanger Pilots Post 139 in Tampa. He is survived by two sons, Roger Swett of Osseo, Wis., and Kenneth Swett of New Orleans, La.; a daughter, Nancy White of La Crosse, Wis.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Roland N. Herbert, 81, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He moved to Florida 25 years ago from his native Somersworth, N.H. He was the founder and operator of Herbert's Supermarket in Somersworth for 44 years and was a member of the National and the New Hampshire Retail Grocers Associations.
He was also the former mayor of Somersworth and a New Hampshire state legislator. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Somersworth and was past King Lion of the Somersworth Lion's Club.
He is survived by two brothers, Ray of Dover, N.H. and Donald of Briny Breezes, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Buster of Lanark, Fla. and Lorraine Mailhot of Somersworth; his companion and caregiver, Joan Smith of Spring Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Marcel Chamberland, 79, of Spring Hill, died Friday, July 30, 2004 under the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice Center in Brooksville.
He was born in Quebec, Canada and moved to this area 10 years ago from Newington, Conn. He was a shipper for a Stanley Works steel mill in New Britain, Conn., and was Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; daughter Kim Couch of Washington; and two sons, Clifford of Washington and Jeff of Virginia.

He was a retired copy equipment technician with the Kodak Company, Rochester, N.Y., retired from the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, and was a member of the VFW, Fleet Reserve Association, Polish-American Club and many other organizations. He was a Baptist by faith.

Ms. McEwan was born in Hardwick, Vt., and moved to this area 36 years ago from Burlington, Vt. Ms. McEwan was a registered nurse and a member of the Brooksville Wesleyan Church.

She was born in Queens, N.Y., and moved to this area 24 years ago from Huntington Station, Long Island, N.Y. She was Dean of Students for over seven years for Cold Spring Harbor High School. She was a volunteer for Women's Army Corp during World War II, a church historian for 17 years, an Eagle Scout with Girl Scouts of America with a 35-year pin, the oldest student to attend Pasco-Hernando Community College during her early 80s and recently was awarded for crocheting over 1,000 lap robes for Hernando-Pasco Hospice. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill Women's Club.
