David L. Byrd, 48, of Hammond, La., formerly of Brooksville, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at his home.
He was born in McClain, Miss., and spent most of his life in Brooksville before moving to Hammond eight years ago. He was a foreman for an electric company in Louisiana.
Survivors include his wife, Jill; two sons, Steven and Paul Byrd, both of Spring Hill; a sister, Diane Hagert of Brooksville; step-children Lindsey and Jeffrey Faunce; one niece; and two nephews.

Clarence F. Smith, 91, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at Hernando Hospice Care Center in Brooksville.
He was born in Walballa, S.C., and moved to this area three years ago from West Palm Beach. He was a retired florist and worked for the Everglades Club in Palm Beach. He served in World War II as a merchant marine.

She was born in Wyatt, W.Va., and moved to Nobleton 24 years ago from Rochester, Mich. She was a U.S. Mail Carrier in Michigan and attended New Hope United Methodist Church, Istachatta. She was honored for her volunteerism as No. 499 in President Bush's Thousand Points of Light in 1991.

May McWhinnie, 89, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2006 at her home. She was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, and moved to this area 26 years ago from Lederach, Pa.
Mrs. McWhinnie was a member of Scotia, Lady Campbell Lodge 59, past grand Chief Daughter of Daughters of Scotia, Lady Elizabeth Gray Lodge 256, Chamber of Commerce, and the Scottish Historical & Research Society of Delaware Valley, Pa. She was one of the founding members of Stage West where she acted and directed and was treasurer for many years. She was treasurer for Clan Graham Society for many years, and she taught Scottish country dancing. She was an invited guest speaker at many Scottish functions throughout the state. She was a Protestant by faith and a member of Grace United Presbyterian Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Keller of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lily O'Connar of Hatfield, Pa.; a son, William of Spring Hill; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
