Josephine H. Patterson, 89, of Brooksville, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. Born in Marysville, Tenn., she moved to this area 25 years ago from Detroit, Mich. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Brooksville.
She is survived by a son, Robert of Brooksville; and a daughter, Judith Saad of Roseville, Mich.

Born in Roscommon, Ireland, she moved to this area 23 years ago from Syosset, Long Island, N.Y. She was a retired accountant for Singer Sewing Machine and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church where she a member of the Women's Club, and was on several bowling leagues at Spring Hill Lanes.
Survivors include her husband, David; four daughters, Rita Joy Sandelin of Orlando, Nancy Schmitt and Sharon McGunnigle of Spring Hill and Ellen McGunnigle of Smithtown, Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Marguerite Wiseman of Florida; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth P. 'Tillie' Carlton, 70, of Brooksville, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Spring Lake, she was a lifelong resident of this area. She owned and operated Lollipop Kids II, a children's clothing store and also the co-owner of Carlton's Grocery Store. She was a Southern Baptist by faith.
She is survived by her husband Paul E. of Brooksville; two sons, Paul E. Jr., of Houston, Texas, Freddie L of Virginia Beach Va.; a daughter, Pamela Carlton-Banas of Bonneau, S.C.; a sister, Julie Belle Braziel of Monmouth, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother , Wendal Pracher.

Mildred A. Hood, 83, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 in Spring Hill. Born in Temple, Mich., she moved to this area 32 years ago from Flint, Mich. She was a homemaker, but worked for General Motors during World War II, she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for 40 years in Michigan, enjoyed crafts, bowling and hunting, and was a member of Spring Lake United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Newman of Brooksville; a son, Fred Redfield of Millington, Mich.; four sisters: Gladys Dodd of Flint, Mich, Beatrice Kovalchich of North Branch, Mich, Verda Pepper of Fort Myers, and Janet Starkey of Park Hills, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was a retired Coordinator of Special Services for Hernando County Public Schools, also employed by the City of Brooksville Police Department for three years, President and Treasurer of Hernando Historical Museum Association, a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brooksville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances; two sons, Mark Christopher and Michael Lee of Brooksville; two daughters, Sherrie Lynn Kudla and Rebecca Romine of Brooksville; and four grandchildren.

Francis Frank F. Holzinger, 90 of Hudson, formerly of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at his home.
He was born in Chicago, Ill, and moved to Hudson from Spring Hill two years ago. He was a retired accountant from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; a Coast Guard veteran; and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Hudson.

Fred W. Adams Sr., 72, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at the Hospice Care Center in Brooksville. Born in Biddeford, Maine, he moved to this area from Portland, Maine. He was a retired purchasing agent with the Hernando County Sheriff's office with 12 years of service. He was a member of the Maine Club and Northcliffe Baptist Church. He also enjoyed round dancing, cribbage and crossword puzzles.

Frances V. "Pat" Wright, 83, of Brooksville, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at her home.
She was born in Rhinebeck, N.Y., and moved to this area five years ago from Cloverdale, Calif. She owned and operated the Rhinebeck Tack and Leather Shop, Rhinebeck, and attended Mt. Holyoke College, Holyoke, Mass. She was an active member of Friends of the Library in New York and Florida, a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution), and the Mayflower Society.

He was born in Brooksville and was a lifetime resident. He was a self-employed accountant, former field agent for the IRS, and auditor for the Department of Revenue. He was a retired commander with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and commanding officer of the St. Petersburg Coast Guard Reserve Unit. He was a land developer and developed Imperial Estates Mobile Home Park and was a franchise owner of Heritage Log Homes. He was Past Master of Hernando Masonic Lodge and Past District Deputy Grand Master, Past Patron of Brooksville Chapter OES and former member of the Rotary Club of Brooksville. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Garden Grove and a member of their Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.

Dr. Dorothy Alice Mason, 54, of Cookeville, Tenn., formerly of Brooksville, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.
She was born in Brooksville and was a fifth-generation resident of Hernando County. She was a 1966 graduate of Hernando High School and was the valedictorian of her class. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics, summa cum laude, from University of Florida and was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and later was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She also received her Master of Science degree in mathematics from University of Florida, after which she served as a graduate teaching assistant in the University's Department of Mathematics, while pursuing her Doctorate of Philosophy in mathematics. She was a visiting student in mathematics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, after which she returned to the University of Florida, where she received her Ph.D. in mathematics with a specialty in topology, the study of the properties of homeomorphic geometric configurations that are unaltered by elastic deformations. She was an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at Tennessee Technological University, where she chaired the Department of Mathematics for 12 years, before relinquishing her administrative duties in 1996 to return to full-time teaching. She was an organizing charter member of the Annuttaliga Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Celia McKethan "Dotte" Mason of Brooksville and Highlands, N.C.; a brother, Joseph M. "Joe" Mason Jr. of Brooksville and Highlands; and two nieces, Mary Katherine Mason of Brooksville and Gainesville and Celia Anne Mason of Brooksville and Tallahassee.

Carl F. King II, 77, of Brooksville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at his home under the care of Hospice.
He was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to this area 15 years ago from Scotch Plains, N.J. He retired from Exxon Corporation, where he was involved in worldwide communications connected with drilling operations and traveled extensively throughout the world. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, a ham radio operator from the age of 12, which served him throughout his military career, and a member of the American Radio Relay League, Heather Golf and Country Club and attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie; four sons, David of Richmond, Va., Robert and John, both of Flemington, N.J., and Jeffrey of West Windsor, N.J.; a sister, Dorothy Ostrander of Lake Geneva, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
