Survivors include her husband, Avio; four daughters, Carol and Janice, both of Florida, and Pamela Tevolini and Debra Dragonetti, both of Connecticut; and six grandchildren.

Carlo S. Gemmati, 67, of Spring Hill, died Friday, March 30, 2001 at his home.
He was born in Lackawanna, N.Y., and moved to this area 15 years ago from West Seneca, N.Y. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran, retired from Conrail Railroad and Hernando County School Board, former member of Knights of St. John, Buffalo, N.Y., member of Italian-American Club, Spring Hill, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), VFW Post 10209, American Legion Post 186 and St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa; five sons, Peter of Orchid Park, N.Y., Steven of West Seneca, N.Y., Paul of Cheektowaga, N.Y., Joseph of Spring Hill, Matthew of Blasdell, N.Y.; a daughter, Ninette Jernigan of Lancaster, N.Y.; two sisters, Anna Welshoff of Spring Hill and Frances Monaco of Lackawanna, N.Y.; and 14 grandchildren.

She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and moved to this area 11 years ago from Merrick, Long Island, N.Y. She was an administrative assistant for News Day's circulation department and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Corinne Barlow of Spring Hill, Cynthia Dillman of Brooksville and Sandra Gault of Tampa; a sister, Leonore DeWitt of Idaho; and three grandchildren.

Walter Simanas, 82, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, April 12, 2001 at home under the care of Hospice.
He was born in Kaunaus, Lithuania, and moved to this area 15 years ago from Rochester, N.Y. He was a retired welder for General Motors Co., Rochester and Roman Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Christina; a brother, John of Toronto, Canada; and two sisters, Mariauta and Alvega, both of Lithuania.

Catherine Shirley Ross, 82, of Brooksville, died Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the Hospice Care Unit, Brooksville.
She was a lifelong resident of Brooksville. She retired as chief deputy of the recording department of the Hernando County Clerk of Circuit Court and was Protestant by faith.

Janice Hill Harmon, 50, of Inverness, died Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
She was born in Petersburg, Ind., and was a lifelong resident of Citrus and Hernando counties. She was a clerical supervisor for the Hernando County W.I.C. program and Protestant by faith.

Nona Jean Mantini, 75, of Weeki Wachee, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Summit, Ohio, and moved to this area 11 years ago from Port Austin, Mich. She was a retired retail shop owner, a member of Moose Lodge and F.O.E., both of Spring Hill, and attended St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include a son, Angelo of Port Austin; two daughters, Carlene Nowlin and Toni Irwin, both of Fair Haven, Mich.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Albert "Al" Stenchever of Brooksville died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Brooksville. He was 90.
Born in Paterson, N.J., he moved to Florida in 1975 from Hawthorne, N.J. He retired as a sales engineer from Seaboard Industries in Hawthorne , N.J. and previously was employed by Wollen Chemical Company of Paterson.
He was a member and an ordained elder at Grace Presbyterian Church in Spring Hill. He was also an ordained deacon and elder in the Church of the Messiah in Paterson.
Stenchever was a Brookridge resident and director of the subdivision's weight control class. He was also director of the former Potterfield Volunteer Fire Department which became the West Hernando Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; stepchildren Jeanne Blake, Larry Kearns and James Duncan; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard Eugene Purkiser of Spring Hill died Friday, May 14, 2004 at Oak Hill Hospital. He was 70.
Born in Goshen Township, Ohio, he moved to Silverthorn nine years ago from Laurel, Md.
He was a retired financial manager at Ford Motor Company.
He was a past member of the Lion's Club, served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a Methodist.

Olga Frances "Fran" Lyness, 84, of Brooksville died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Tangerine Cove Assisted Living Facility.
Born in Henderson, Mich., she moved to this area 35 years ago from Michigan.
She was a homemaker respected for her skills as a seamstress and quilt maker.
She loved gardening and helping other people.
Lyness was a Roman Catholic.
Survivors include her son, Clarence R. Nieman, Sr. of Midland, Mich.; two sisters, Anna Painter of St. Johns, Mich. and Marian Shelest of Owasso, Mich.; a brother, Joseph Shelest of Owasso, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Vivian Edmond of Brooksville died Friday, May 14, 2004. She was 83.
Edmond was a native of Pittsburg, Pa. and a resident of this area for the past 13 years. She moved here from Ocala.
She was a medical transcriber and a member of the Christian Science Society of Brooksville.
Survivors include her son, Rick Peterson of West Palm Beach; two daughters, Maureen Dickerson of Brooksville and Margaret Peterson of West Palm Beach; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Helen Hamilton, 89, of Brooksville died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Brooksville Health Care Center. She was a native of New Rochelle N.Y. and a resident of this area for the past 21 years.
She moved here from Chattanooga, Tenn.
Hamilton was a medical secretary.
She is survived by her nephew, Edward Becker of Cooper City; two nieces, Helen Cassano and Jean Seidel both of Hollywood, Fla.

She was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. She was a retired registered nurse, a member of Hope Alliance Church, and her father was the founder of the Radio Bible Class.
Survivors include a son, Richard of Spring Hill; two brothers, Dr. Marvin DeHaan of Muskegon, Mich., and Richard DeHaan of Grand Rapids; and two granddaughters.

Doreen R. Schiemann, 44, of Brooksville, died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
Born in Teaneck, N.J., Schiemann came to this area five years ago from Ft. Lauderdale. She was an equestrian trainer, and had a master's degree in psychology and paralegal from Broward Community College. She was a member of Equestrian USA, the Pasco Fine Horse Association and St. John Episcopal Church.

Martha S. Smith, 79, of Brooksville died Monday, March 8, 2004 in her home. Born in Burnsville, Miss. She came here 58 years ago from Iuka, Miss. She was a teacher in Hernando County public schools for 32 years. She also taught at Hernando Christian Academy and West Hernando Christian Academy. A member of the Order of Easter Star and an advisor to the Rainbow Girls, she also belonged to the Pilot's Club, the First United Methodist Church of Brooksville and served as both a Brownie and Cub Scout leader.
Survivors include her two sons: William Stephen and Aaron Jack Smith, Jr., both of Brooksville; two daughters, Cheryl S. Sorrow of Greenwood, S.C. and Rhoda S. Mercer of Dahlonega, Ga; a brother, John Taswell Stephens of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Elizabeth Nagle and Edith Sparkman, both of Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
