Faye M. Macdonald, 86, of Ocala, formerly of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in Ocala.
She was a lifelong resident of Marion, Levy, Citrus and Hernando counties. She was a retired nurse and a member of Romeo Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth R. Strickland and Richard C. Strickland, both of Montbrook, and James W. Strickland of Williston; two daughters, Marlene Munden of

Shirley J. Scott, 64, of Masaryktown, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at her home.
She was born in Henderson, N.C., and moved to this area three years ago from Tampa. She was a retired clerk for General Telephone after 25 years of service. She was a member of Beta Signa Phi Tampa Chapter and a Baptist by faith.

Paul Leroy Mann, 85, of Brookridge, Brooksville, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Delta, Ohio, and moved to this area 22 years ago from Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio, where he worked for many years. He was a past member of the Brookridge Lions Club and a member of Mariner United Methodist Church, where he was past member of the men's club.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; a son, Leroy Mann of Sammamish, Wash.; two daughters, Elaine Ball of Pataskala, Ohio, and Mary Ellen Pesavento of Brooksville; a sister, Ellen Stutzman of Wauseon, Ohio; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

William R. Wiser III, 63, of Hernando Beach, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He moved to this area 14 years ago from his native Baltimore, Md.
Mr. Wiser was a retired plant manager in the steel industry, the Past Exalted Ruler in Elks Lodge 1866, Baltimore, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4372, Weeki Wachee.
Survivors include his son, Philip Wiser of Nevada City, Calif.; two sisters, Debbie Wiser-Barry of Hernando Beach and Marlene Smith of Lakeland; and four grandchildren.

Hubert L. Gagne, 95, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Duluth, Minn., and moved to this area four years ago from Hoyt Lakes, Minn.
Mr. Gagne was a police officer, and a supper club and hotel owner in Duluth, as well as manager of the Supper Club in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a railroad special agent in Seattle, Wash.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, Bob Gagne of Hernando Beach and Jim of Duluth; a daughter, Mary Young of Brooksville; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Sophie E. Burke, 86, of Dade City, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 at Pasco Regional Medical Center, Dade City. She was born in Pahokee and moved to this area 38 years ago from Okeechobee.
Mrs. Burke was the owner and operator of Charm Beauty Shop, Ridge Manor. She had been a beautician for over 60 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Cecelia Jones of Miami Shores and Esther Hart of Dade City; a son, Robert Burke of Dade City; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burton was a registered nurse for 25 years in the New York Public Health System. She was on the Literacy Council of Bronx, N.Y., and was an Episcopalian by faith.

Donald L. McLaughlin, 81, of Brooksville, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Warroad, Minn., and moved to this area 25 years ago from Pontiac, Mich. He retired from Detroit Edison with 26 years of service and was a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a World War II U.S. Marines veteran, an active member of the Eden Baptist Church and then the Assembly of God Church, and was a hospital volunteer and visited shut-ins.

He was born in Carlstadt, N.J., and moved to this area a year ago from Tampa. He was previously employed as a computer programmer for Western Union and marketing in janitorial supplies.

Hilda Mae Purcell, 76, of Brooksville, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
She was born in Tampa and moved to this area five years ago from Land O' Lakes. She owned the Racetrack Restaurant, Pinehurst, N.C., and the Citrus Park Restaurant, Tampa. She was a Baptist by faith.

Joseph "Joe" C. Payson, 81, of Brooksville, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, in Brooksville.
He was born in Attleboro, Mass., and moved to this area 18 years ago from Augusta, Ga. He graduated from the University of Florida. He was an aerospace engineer and launch pad chief for Lockheed. His name is in gold on the moon, sent from a test package for a launch preparation. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, a member of the American Soaring Society, a life member of VFW Post 10209, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, C. Sophia; a daughter, Diana Payson of Melbourne; three sisters, Linda Pierce of Arkansas, Joan Chastain of Palatka and Frances Brown of Brooksville; and many nephews and nieces.

B. Franklin Cummings, 88, of Spring Hill, died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Brooksville.
He was born in Flint, Mich., and moved to this area five years ago from Rockledge, Fla. He retired from the Citizens Commercial and Savings Bank as executive vice president 24 years ago. He was a graduate of Fenton High School and University of Wisconsin School of Banking. During World War II, he served with the 52nd Armored Infantry, 9th Armored Division, was awarded the ETO ribbon with three campaign stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the Bronze Star. He was a member and past president of the Flint Golf Club, Flint, Mich., a former member of Rockledge Country Club, Rockledge, Fla., and GlenLakes Country Club, Weeki Wachee, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Flint.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley M.; two daughters, Kay M. Broyles of Weeki Wachee and Celia A. Hitch of East Lansing, Mich.; a brother, Ray of Clermont; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was born in Tampa. He was a retired construction worker, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Brooksville.

Geraldine F. Scher, 85, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007. She was born in Albany, N.Y., and moved to this area 23 years ago from New Hyde Park, Long Island, N.Y.
Ms. Scher retired as a sales clerk for women’s clothing and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include her brother, Leonard J. Minkler of Woodbridge, N.J.; and three nieces.

Herman “Hank” Gerds Jr., 88, of Weeki Wachee, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, Ohio. He was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to this area from Waterville, Ohio.
Mr. Gerds was a production control supervisor at Chrysler Corp., Perrysburg, and retired after 30 years. He attended Zion Lutheran Church, Waterville, Trinity Lutheran Church, Weeki Wachee, and Salem Evangelical and Reform Church, Farmington, Mich. He was a life member and 3rd degree Mason at Redford-Metropolitan Masonic Lodge 152, Redford, Mich., and a member of Chrysler Retirees.

Eddie B. Kirkland, 82, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007. He was born in Tampa and moved to this area 24 years ago.
Mr. Kirkland retired as a captain with the Tampa Police Department after 23 years of service and pastored churches for 30 years in Louisiana and Florida. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, having served as an air traffic controller and in the Pacific. He attended Hillsborough High School and was a graduate of the University of Tampa and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; two daughters, Brenda Gail Jeffres of Lecanto and Cheryl Anne Dawkins of Defuniak Springs; a grandson; and two great-granddaughters.

Mr. Renke was a sales representative for the Northern Illinois Gas Company.

Kenneth E. Sapp, 38, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Dunedin and moved to this area 10 years ago from Elkin, N.C.
Mr. Sapp was a service dispatcher for Collier Safe and a member of the Hunting Club of America.

He was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and was Presbyterian by faith. He served with the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and medic and was employed as a social worker with Belleview Hospital in New York City. He enjoyed computers, the Internet and spending time with family and friends.
